overly busy or anything, there's been not much that's relevant to say. There's not much going on as well around here.
Yesterday (last night) I went for my meeting and one of the guys drove me home and along the way I bought April's bus pass at the nearby 7-11. After I got home I was going over my duties of a lodge master in the constitution and worked on my Cubase and had audio coming out of most tracks then I lost audio. Reason for this is I'm running Cubase and Maschine on minimum system requirements. Through out my Sunday afternoon I did a lot of JFK research and found a real nugget of some information about a peripheral character in the case. Also I learned yesterday that earlier this month James Tague passed away. He was the fellow standing by the triple underpass, when one of the missed shots in the JFK assassination hit the near by curb and a bit of he curb hit his cheek. I put my Cubase project away around 4am shut the laptop down and went to bed.
About the first week of this month, I put my resume in for a call centre job at the Blue Cross catty corner to where to where I'm working now. My resume was languishing in their slush pile I more or less forgot about it. Finally almost a month latter they replied back with a generic email saying my application was not successful. Most likely I'm over qualified and people where I work were saying they were looking for kids mostly to fill summer positions anyway. After the kids go back to school, I'll probably get another generic email asking if I'm interested in applying again. Um, no thanks It's time to move on.
Saturday was "Earth Hour," and my wife was saying how they were working in the dark during that time. They still had their computers on. Most of Edmonton was business as usual but I think City Hall was shut down. I think I was having a nap during Earth hour anyway. Some of the guys were talking about it at the meeting last night. I'm not much into that stuff as it is, so it's business as usual around here for me. Earth hour or no Earth hour.
Today I'm out of here about 3pm. I've got 5 hours for today, possibly tomorrow as well, I don't know yet. For the most part this week I'm back to 5-9. I've got some business at the PCN/Northgate on Thursday and my Lodge night is Thursday after the PCN. I'm working Friday and Saturday is a full day and Sunday is Wrestlemania 30. It looks like this week, my hours will be reduced but next week I should be more or less back to normal. Other then that, like I said above not much going on. I'll be launching Tweets of course in between my next blog post. Anyway, that's all for now.
Welcome to my Blog. Anne and I live here in Clareview Edmonton Alberta, with our 2 cats etc. This blog is about my life, rants, politics, books, music production, Sports, some gaming, Freemasonry and some WTF-ish moments that give me pause. Feel free to contact me on my Twitter feed or YouTube channel Shannon on Sounds. Thanks for dropping by

So far there is no date on the upcoming
Alberta PC leadership convention. There are a few contenders such as Doug Horner (Spruce Grove) Thomas Lukaszuk (Edmonton-Castle Downs) Lukaszuk would be my first choice. Before the PC party calls for a leadership convention they want to make sure they have enough candidates.
If someone were to come up to me and ask "Jim, why do you blog?" I blog to leave a record of my life when I'm gone. Blogger might not last 10 years after I'm gone but as long as people are using it then it served it's purpose. I'm hoping Google will continue to use Blogger 10-50 years from now or even later. Sure my blog might be in the slush pile but at least it's somewhere. In a sense, my blog is my legacy. With pictures and links and my rants and raves, this blog is like a a snapshot of my life and my community (or my impression) in which I lived long after my death and what my life in my community was all about. That's why I blog and then this entry gets copied and pasted to my diary from here. My diary is a bit more private then the blog of course.
I'm a little tired and feel a need for a nap for an hour. I had a little nap there and feel a bit better. Monday is the last of my 5 hour shift's as I'm back to my 4 hours. It gives me 27.5 hours minimum during the week. Tonight I'm in for my 5-9 and all day Saturday from 10-6 and my lodge get together Sunday night and that's the weekend. Anyway, that's all for now.

It seems that the
wreckage of flight MH370 is still being elusive. I was reading that finding the black box and flight recorder batteries could die out within a month. It could take years to find the black box when that happens.
Closer to home we're still under the grip of this Spring "cold snap" but it's not a arctic -25 cold snap either. It's too cold for this time of year. It's expected to warm up by Monday or Tuesday. At the moment its -6 -11 wind chill but the snow on the ground still seems like winter. It wasn't bad coming back from work last night though.
It's another 5 hour shift today and yesterday's shift went by fast. I was asked to come in on Sunday but I have that meeting Sunday night at Highlands Hall. Next Sunday is out as well because of Wrestlemania 30. When Anne came home last night she said she just missed my train as she got out about the same time as me. I think tonight after work I'm going into Tim's for a decaff coffee and get one of the few remaining Roll-up-Rim coffee cups and see if I can meet her coming home tonight. Also to see if she could record Impact wrestling tonight. Anyway, that's all for now.

The only down side of things
yesterday was the Oiler's lost and just about in the 2nd period of the game, the snow began falling. The snow hasn't let up since about 8pm and is forecast to go all day today.
Health wise, my insulin doesn't seem to be working because my blood sugar level has been very high over the last few days. Like in the 15 -18 range. Not good.
Yesterday, I was able to update my blog topics on Freemasonry and "My Philosophy." I also went and updated my Facebook page as well.
Two movies I'm looking forward to seeing next month are Captain America Winter Soldier and the new Tom Cruise movie, Edge of tomorrow. Saturday is a good day to go because I can go by myself after work.
I'm out of here for my 4-9 in about 12 hours but the shift more or less is fast. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Finally I have a day off and even though
its about -8 out there the wind chill still makes it colder when we head out of here.
I like taking Tuesday's off because the night before I get to watch all of Monday night Raw and sleep in the following morning. Also it seems Tuesday night is a popular night for Oiler hockey games. I get to sleep in again Wednesday morning so it's almost like having 2 days off.
Yesterday I was able to go into my laptop's Safe Mode (easy enough to do) and using system restore I was able to go back to another stable date on my computer. I was able to gain access to my Cubase/desktop from there. That worked out well.
I went to bed about 2:30am and got up about 20 minutes ago (10:30) fed the cats and onto my first coffee of the day. After I post this I'm back into Cubase as I'm working on a offline Template. I'm going to do all of that or try to before Anne and I head out of here at 1pm for Northgate. Then back home for some dinner and the Oiler game. Anyway, that's all for now.

Sundays on the
job can be rather long but yesterday's shift was brisk. Not that I'm complaining though. I had a craving for pizza all day and I never mentioned this to Anne when I called her on my break at 5pm. She said my SW from Lodge returning my call. At 8pm it was nice to leave the office as it was still light outside, until I got home.
When I got home Anne was on the phone ordering, piazza! She must have read my mind. We watched the news after that.
I'm having windows password recovery issues again and I forget how I was able to set my password before. I know it involved my pen drive and safe mode. I'll be fooling around with it before I leave for work this afternoon.
Tuesday my wife and I have the day off and we're going to Northgate Town Centre mall to get some AW action going. Anyway, that's all for now.

Heading into work I felt exausted but ok
after having my Tim's breakfast and coffee, I felt pretty good. A bit of a stiff soar left knee lately but feeling ok. It was nice and sunny and cooler hobbling South on 107th there towards the office.
I was set for a great day. I got 2 completes during my first hour and 2 more by 1pm. By 1pm though I was exhausted. I got maybe 2 hours sleep the night before, which didn't help and it was catching up with me. By 1:15pm I was ready to abandon ship at 2pm and call it a day. Then wtf? The building alarm system went off! We had to shut down our computers as I was right in the middle of a survey. We had to collect our things. The buildings occupants (including us) filed out side into the cooler air,as our group headed to the adjacent building where there was more sunlight and benches. Two fire trucks and emergency responder vehicles later and about 15minutes after that, building security let everybody back in. We had about 10 minutes to collect our thoughts and resume and our computer system was able to pick up where we left off. That was a nice little break and I felt ok to work out the last 3 hours from there and I hadn't had my half hour break yet. Then barely 15 minutes inside, the alarm sounds off again! Yeesh. Same recipe as before. Same location for our group but about half a hour later and less emergency vehicles later, we were allowed back inside, again. At this point I knew we were going to be sent home. We had another break and it was announced that the office would be closing for the day. We'd still get paid for the day of course. Too think earlier I was ready to go at 2pm, lol. Some of us were by the elevator on our way out and we noticed what looked like smoke coming from the overhead lights. We got out asap. So I hobbled along with a colleague to Corona lrt and caught the train home right away. At Clareview I was looking for my wife on her way to catch her train for her commute, hoping I could give her the bus pass. I didn't see her anyway at Clareview as I boarded the #183 and at the bus stop just outside our place. When I got into our suite there was Boots alone with the other cats and the vacuum in use. I figures Anne just left from there thinking she was late.
I got a call from the Super at work saying we're ok for today's shift. It was steam coming out of the lights not smoke. So, I had a nap for a couple of hours before the hockey game, I woke up about 2 hours later and there was Anne on the couch. She said she had a day off today and noticed I was sleeping, lol!
The Flame's/Oiler's game started out good and the game was tied at 1 going into the 2nd period, then it got ugly. In the second period the Flames scored 5 unanswered goals! In the 3rd another fan threw a Oiler jersey on the ice and the goaltender with his stick tossed it back into the crowd. The score ended up 8-1 Flames! They were clearly the better team and I give them full marks for playing nearly a perfect game, good for them. It's a full 8 hour day today and I should get home by about 9pm. Anyway, that's about all for now.

By special request from the
boss so much for my Sunday off. I've got Tuesday off instead and there's an Oiler game on TV. It means I'm going to have 66 hours next pay period. I hope.
I went to get my tax form signed after work and even though I'm not getting anything back I'm not owing a lot either.
Just over the halfway part of "False Gods." I doubt I'm going to finish it before the end of the month.
Today I'm up at 6:30am to work on some of my stuff answer email that sort of thing, then out the door 9am for my Saturday morning breakfast and 7.5 hours on the job. Anyway, that's all for now.

Over the next 10 hours I'm busy with work and
meeting my wife at her place of work after my shift is over to sign for our taxes. I need a copy of my taxes for my follow up for my April 3rd meeting with the Pharmacists.
While it's not like -25 or anything out there but -12 with a wind chill is still cold enough. By the middle of next week things should be warming up.
My only day off is Sunday and I've got some Lodge work ahead of me. Just a few admin stuff that sort of thing.
At the moment Anne is out getting a few things and hopefully home before I head out of here for work. Time for a shave and my bath. Anyway, that's all for now.

This must be a first
for Alberta politics when a Premier Alison Redford resigned yesterday at 6pm. Her whole caucus, is desesed with infighting not to mention the spending scandal that has gotten her into hot water. In the past week two of her MLA's have jumped ship. What a shocker. I don't think this has ever happened in Alberta politics since the 1930's. Next for the PC party is to have an interim leader and this should be done over the next couple of days. Then they will have to have a leadership convention in the next 4-6 months.
Last nights Master Mason degree was a special night for me. First of all I finally got to see a Canadian Rite degree and the northern Alberta Veteran's degree team in action. I think I like the Canadian Rite version even better then the York Rite version. I know one thing, I'm going to be back.
I was going to go to the other appointment this morning but I'm too exhausted, so I'm up at 9am to call and re book. So today it's a normal day on the job. Anyway, that's all for now.

Because of our income
or lack there of I might be able to get medical benefits. Hopefully with these I can get my dental work done and get dentures. That's the plan anyway for this year.
I'm at the half way point in "False Gods", great stuff and for my April read it's 'Galaxy in Flames."
The Pharmacist suggested I try small doses of Metformin. The reason why in small doses is because it side affects can cause gas. Also Metformin gets the most out of insulin and that's a good thing. Anyway, that's all for now.

This morning I'm out of here
for my 10am at Northgate Centre. My wife isn't coming with me this round but I'm going to go to AW anyway, to set things up before I go to work from there. I'll get a bite to eat there at Northgate.
If you notice to the right, I retweeted week #3 of the excavation of the new downtown arena site. I think this shot is from the CN building. I'll be retweeting this every week:
Yesterday our accountant called back and I called home from work to get the news. I owe but the amount is small and that gets taken off from my gst. The amount I owe is about equal to the amount our accountant charge. So essentially I come out more or less even this year. My wife owes $4 bucks! It could have been a lot worse. So much for the new pc.
Update: This morning I caught the Northgate bus just outside here and even though it was a long 40 minute ride I was able to read more "False Gods." I got to Northgate and crossed the street at about 9:30am and had some McDonald's breakfast and found where I needed to be at the Primary Care Network. I had a chat with the Pharmacist it turned out to be very productive. My next appointment is April 3rd.
Wednesday is a scheduled day off and I've got the green light to go ahead with that. Thursday is my eye appointment but I'm still in the office. Anyway, that's all for now.

Trouble with weather here in Alberta
and in Edmonton in general, you can never go by just what it reads, yes we got up to +10 today but with the wind chill it felt like +2.
I was out of bed about 11am yesterday morning and at 1pm and I caught the 1st period of the Oiler/Hurricanes hockey game. Anne and I were getting ready for our outing and I was able to watch the 2nd period. Perfect, I'd get ths finale score on our iPad.
So here Anne and I are happy to leave the apartment on our little Anne birthday outing. We're merrily on the train and away. We do this Anne's birthday outing every year but it's always at different venues. Our dinner goal this year was to go to Royal Pizza with a pit stop for me at Chapters and a she likes to go to that "No frills." All 3 places are within a few blocks of each other. Then we'd go have our pizza and then take the train back to Bay Station to her place of work where a co worker of her's is a chartered accountant and gives us a break in doing our taxes. Anyway, that was the plan until about Central ETS decides to make an announcement saying, "We have switching problems at Corona so contingency buses from Corona to the University will be at street level on Jasper Ave, sorry for the inconvenience..." We were 2 pissed off un happy campers. Anne had her little carry caddy in tow so we take 3 flights of stairs up to Jasper. There must have been about 200 people on the sidewalk waiting to board another contingency bus. The one there was already loaded. We would have been waiting for most likely half an hour for the next bus if we wanted to have a comfortable ride across the river. That took all our the wind out of our sales, going to dinner the rest of the way. We decided to eat at BP's, which although wasn't that disappointing, the announcement obstacle earlier ruined our birthday plans. Waiting for our order I checked the iPad and at least the Oiler's won 2-1. My burger wasn't bad and she had a pizza.
After having something to eat we walked South side of Jasper Ave up to her place of work. Her colleague that did our taxes for us last year was at work as Anne knew he would be and we gave him all of our documents. He said he brought his laptop with him and will do some of the work in between calls. We paid him the fee and he said he'd have a answer for us by Friday if we owe or have something coming back, we would know one way or another by Friday. He said because Anne had a RRSP T4 she might have to pay but I probably wont but if I do get anything back this year, I doubt it's going to be anything like what it was last year. I might get half of the amount this year then last year or very little. If I get a substantial amount, I'm getting my computer and paying off my Lodge dues.
After that we went to Tim's and I got the coffee and donuts and the train to Clareview Station. Anne walked the rest of the way home but I said I'd wait for the bu, which would be arriving shortly. I finished my coffee and read from "False Gods" waiting for my bus. For the most part we have that behind us and Anne's happy again. I'm more or less ok.
It's 5 hours today on the job, Saint Patrick's day and Monday night Raw. I've got a busy week ahead of me what with the insulin appointment Tuesday morning and my Ophthalmologist appointment Wednesday morning and Lodge that same day. Anyway, that's all for now.

I had a great Saturday off
spending hours working on my track, "This is Jim saying Hello." It's a stupid 2 minute track but I'm having fun. I might publish it to my YouTube channel.
The idea Saturday was to go to the South side and give my 2009 laptop a bit of love by way of a sshd upgrade. The last thing I did before I left for work Friday was to call and they said I'd have to bring my laptop into the shop wait 10 days then 24 hours from there, someone would "take a look" at it. Then it'd cost me $100 to clone my hard drive and another $50 for labor, what? This even doesn't include the cost of the sshd! So I'm instead going to get one of those $200 hard drive duplicators pop them in and install the new drive in myself. It's not so much the price it's leaving my laptop in foreign hands for 2 weeks. If I get any income tax refund back, I'll probably get the new pc anyway. Cloning the laptop drive to the new drive will be something I'm going to be faced with anyway.
Speaking of tax time, after Anne and I are done having dinner we're taking all of our forms to one of Anne's colleagues to her place of work. The guy will be there and we're going to bring everything in and let him do his thing. I have a feeling I'm going to end up owing the Feds anyway. I should know next weekend if I'll be owing the Feds anything/ Anyway, that's all for now.

Having fun earlier with a test track
in Cubase.
I'm enjoying "False Gods" Warhammer 40K. Some of the best SF writing, I've read in ages. Great stuff. I'm almost half way through this.
Not much going on today. If I wake up and find it difficult to get back to work, I might just head down to Tim's/Corona station and get some breakfast.
Just in this country alone last year there about 1,100 UFO reports. UFO sitings in the US have dropped off in 2013. Even my wife said she saw a strange object that just hung there in the sky a few nights ago, crazy.
I've got a couple of Lodge calls to make latter today and I'm working on my track. Other then that, it's going to be a easy day. Anyway, that's all for now.

Rare is the occurrence that I'm able to have a weekend off for a
a change. I'm going in for my 5 hours today and my weekend begins from there.
I'm about to get a sshd upgrade for my laptop and if all goes well, I might get this by tomorrow. I'm kind of reluctant on this upgrade because I'd rather get a new desktop. Before I leave out of here today I'll know if I'll be able to get it done.
Next Tuesday, my wife and I are out to Northgate Centre as I've got a 10am appointment to get my insulin calibrated. While I'm doing that she's going to Alberta Works and after my appointment I'm joining her then we're off to have some lunch and home. I'm not done on the day yet as I'm heading to Lodge after that. At least that's the plan. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Most of you have heard about this already
but I'm not oblivious to the milestone: The internet as we know it today is 25 years old. I first got access to the Internet in October of 1997 in Calgary. Today according to the Edmonton over 85% of Canadians have Internet access.
My wife rode with me on the lrt to Corona station as she had to get some specialized pet food. I had another great night on the job and when I got off the Corona Station escalator there were some people I recognized from my 2nd job I had in January. The didn't recognize me but that's ok. I've officially resigned to the conclusion I'm not invited back to the Spring campaign.
Anne and I decided to go to AW on Tuesday when I'm off because we can spend more time there. I mentioned I'm taking Tuesday night off because I'm going to Lodge. She didn't say anything about that. "as long s you have the hours for the end of the month..." I thought she'd go into one of her tirades. This could be really great. I finally get to see a Canadian Rite degree. .
The total cost of phase 1 of the Valley line is $1.8B. The City has put in $800M. The Province is paying $250M, plus $150M to match federal grants, $200M for a 10 year no interest loan. Feds pay: $150 Building Canada fund grants, $250M P3 funds. That's just for the Valley line. Phase 2 is all above ground anyway. Phase 1 will be in operation by 2020.
Yesterday we got up to +11. As of today I'm officially out of the winter boots business This afternoon its running shoes and a lighter jacket.Anyway, that's about all for now.

I had a good start to Tuesday afternoon and just exploded from there
and I had a record day. On my commute home it was +5 at 9pm!
I'm checking my email yesterday when I came home and there was a subscription message from the City of Edmonton. The Province is coming on board with the other half of the funding for the lrt Valley line/Millwoods to city centre lrt project. It's the missing piece of the funding project for phase 1 the Feds mentioned previously. It means now we can move the project forward and put shovels in the ground late 2015. It's a 5 year project. Phase 2 is from Edmonton Centre to West Edmonton Mall, which will be completed around 2024. It's just ten years away for t he whole project to be realized. I wonder if I'll live to see it.
Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 is very strange (MH370) On the news last night a man broke down in front of authorities in the audience saying his daughter's cell phone still rings as authorities are doing what they can to resolve this mystery. Yet something sinister must have happened to have mh370 45 minutes into it's flight take a sharp left turn and "vanish." There are a lot of theories as to what happened. One conspiracy theory suggests that the plane was hit by a meteor, yeesh. Flight 370's transponder went off line after it had made the detour and the plan vanished from even primary radar. The most strangest yet are the 2 fake Iranian passports. Interpol has ruled out a terrorist attack and apparently the 2 Iranians were supposed to meet relatives in Germany.
I like this 5 hour shift but for now its only for the project I'm currently on. Anyway, that's all for now.

Sunday night leaving out of the office Iwas feeling burned out
and exhausted, at 4pm I wanted to work until 6 instead of 8. I had my half about 5:40pm. I figured, what the heck, I can work out the last 2 hours of my shift.
I got home shortly before 9pm. I don't like the Sunday shift because it ties up the whole day, what with leaving around 11am and arriving home at about 9pm. That's almost like a 12 hour day. Saturday, much the same thing but at least I have most of the night off.
Next week I have a busy week what with it being my wife's birthday on Sunday. I usually like to take her out. She want's to go to Royal Pizza and I can pop into Chapters at the same time. It's a nice little outing for us. I'm also trying to do some creative juggling of hours so I can go to Lodge Tuesday night. They're having a special night. I'm thinking maybe book Tuesday off, that'd be great. Wednesday morning I've got that eye Doctor exam and I'm hoping my vision wont be out of focus to go in for my shift Wednesday. I've been through this before and it's not that bad. Also, I'm working Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday and Sunday are 2 full days and I keep my hours around the 52 average mark. More so if next week looks like this week.
It's a nice mild sunny day out there and we're supposed to have sunny skies hovering around +4/+6 degrees. Its the March run off but the back wash from vehicles along sidewalk curbs can be tricky. I think though, I'm out of my winter boots season at last. If we don't get any sudden snow fall winter for (famous last words) is on it's way out. Although we can get anything here in Alberta this time of year. In 1981, when I was on my way out of Calgary after living there that winter/spring hearing about the snow storm in Edmonton. I was able to avoid it getting a ride to Edmonton in early may of that year. I also remember in May 1989 again we had a huge snow storm that lasted quite awhile. We don't get them very often but they can happen.
So, today and for most of the week I'm in for 4-9 leaving out of here about 3pm. It's a long shift but a lot easier to work around then a full 7.5 hour shift. I've got the window open it's and to celebrate this beautiful Monday afternoon I Tweeted a photo of 137th Ave and it's on my Facebook page as well. Anyway, that's all for today.

It's daylight savings time this morning
as we "get another" hour of daylight. Spring is right around the corner.
Listening to Stitcher yesterday afternoon Facebook wants to buy 11,000 aerial drones. The idea is to have these drones solar powered 60,000 feet in the atmosphere. The drones apparently can stay afloat for about 5 years at a cost of $70 million bucks for all 11,000 of them. The idea with these drones is to provide internet access nodes for remote areas. Google has started baby steps with balloons that accomplishes the same thing. Facebook's drone project is more ambitious. Apparently no single country owns the air space at that altitude so it's like the wild west up there. .
With this warmer air we're currently getting (+5-+8.) temps. Most of this snow on the ground will be gone by Saint Patrick's day. We'll probably have patches here and there and build up in shady areas but for the most part, it should be gone by then.Anyway that's all for now.

At 2pm this afternoon on my commute
it didn't exactly feel like -7 rather -10/18. it was still cold heading into work.
I had a good start until I got a loud co worker sit adjacent to me. That threw me off my game but I didn't complain. I had my "lunch" at 6:30pm with 2 hours to go. I was glad to be on that train to Clareview and the bus home.
My hours this week have been slightly adjusted. I'm Sunday noon-8pm and Monday-Friday 4-9 but I get next Saturday off for 53.5 hours on my next pay. I miss my iMark hours. Those were the days.
Nothing much happening today but I'm working on my music before bed. Anyway, that's all for now.

My evening wasn't that bad after all even though
I screwed up on several things, I didn't mess up that badly. I had a beer at the festive board and a good time.
The Alberta Government had their budget unavailing and there is nothing yet for LRT. They did say they want to work with the Edmonton but the "Drop dead" dead line for the Valley Line LRT is April 30th. That's when costs are supposed to escalate by about $70 million every year the project is delayed. The City should just go ahead and build it now and pay for it latter and I think that's what they will do. it's to important for Edmonton.
I'm in today from 3-9pm for a 5.5 hour shift and half an hour break. So it's like a 4 hour shift with an added hour. Then I have Saturday off. I'm in on Sunday for a long day and Monday off. That's my weekend. Anyway, that's all for now.

My Doctors appointment went ok
although my weight is down by 4 pounds. I got an exact measurement on my height at 5.8." I'm waiting to get booked for some lab work and hopefully after that get a referral for the diabetic centre and maybe I can access the Doctor's network. I forget what it's called DPN something but there may be some funds in there to help me with my insulin.
After that we went over to Subway and I had a half of a chicken sub and a cookie, then we went down to Tim's for coffee and I bought Anne a large coffee and me a regular size and I won a free coffee from their roll up the rim contest. After that I went into the office.
I had a decent shift. I got my hours tweaked as I'm off Saturday but in Sunday from 12-8. It's a long shift, I realized that I'd be working from Sunday-Saturday without a break! So I got the super to make a note for me to have Monday night off. Then I work Tuesday-Saturday. If I don't hear from my 2nd job, by then I'll be looking for a new 2nd job and I have a few options in mind. The boss even asked me if my wife might want to consider some pick up hours which on the surface might be a good idea. If she can get a few shifts, then that might help us out.
When I left the building shortly before 9pm there was a light snow falling. It wasn't that cold as I had a wait for my train and got a front seat by myself. I had a headache on the way home most likely due to lack of food all day.
Kind of sad to see Alis Hemsky being traded to the "Ottawa Senators yesterday." The Oiler's haven't been trade buyers in the last couple of years. The Oiler's yesterday, however found themselves short a backup goaltender for team practice before the game with Ottawa. As she was in town, MacT asked if Olympic gold medalist of the Canadian women's hockey team goaltender Shannon Szabados to put on Oiler's gear and play goaltender for the practice game. I think this has to be a first! Oiler players were saying she didn't do half bad. Anyway that's all for now.

The marathon hours slept yesterday and the two hours
of sleep I got after wrestling seem to be enough. I might though after I compose this go in for a few more.
Seems everything is ok on the job but Anne still wants a finale word from her Doctor, Wednesday. I need additional income and I'm not getting the income in excess of what I give every two weeks for my wife to help run the place. It's still early in the month though other then some music gear and a new PC I don't need a lot. The only bill is my lodge dues.
If the NHL draft lottery were held today and if the Oiler's (again) get a number #1 draft pick they should pick Sam Reinhart (C) of the Kootney Ice. He's got 36 goals so far on the season but a lot of these 1st rounders the Oiler's have had haven't been that good. Taylor Hall, now I think in his 3rd year, has been averaging 20+ goals a season. RNH hasn't had a full season due to injuries, Yakupov (last year) has about 10 goals this year. I'd like to go to Lodge tonight but Anne is home and want's to spend some time with me. I was out Sunday night and Thursday night. At least I'll be able to watch an Oiler game tonight.
I've got a full day today and on my way home tonight, I'm calling a job lead about some more hours today. Anyway, that's all for now.

Latter this morning I'm making some business related phone calls
trying out a couple of job leads. My wife only has 2 shifts this week. She still says that she wants to see the results from her Doctor first. She's wasting 2 days of the week and has only Thursday and Friday. I'm on thin ice as it is.The hours have to come from some where.
Our Lodge meeting was pretty good, even though we had 5 members and a guest. It was productive, to a point. Sure it was cold and -35 would be enough for anyone to stay home on a Sunday night.
I'm up early tomorrow for a 9-5 shift and I don't think I can stay up and watch all 3 hours of wrestling until 1am.
The good news even though it's -22/34 wind chill, we're warming up this week. By Friday we're going to be +1 or 2 and about the same into next week. Anyway, I'm up at around 11am later this morning. That's all for now.

Our artic vortex is whats causing this cold snap all over the prairies
with wind chills like -38 here in Edmonton. This morning it's going to be -40! I was bundled up and I didn't feel it that bad yesterday morning.
Saturday morning I had my Tim's breakfast and had a good start to the shift, except a minor error on my part. It was about the last hour of the shift when the error was made. The way I'm screwing up there, I'd be surprised if I'm still there by the end of the week. I'm not going to worry about it. I've got a weekly classified street paper here, and there are a lot of call centre jobs that pay $18/$22 plus I have AW as well. Despite the error I made I still had a killer day. I've got some phone calls to make Monday. Just think James, 3 more years.
Even though it was -24/35 out there when we left the office, it wasn't that bad heading towards Corona station with a colleague just after 6pm. The Sun was just going down and still light outside. I caught my train home.
In my email I got a quote about replacing my iPad glass and the repair kit costs $200. They don't have any kits in stock but have some on order. It's not a must have item at the moment but I know the glass can be replaced and the price is reasonable.
Anne had chilli slow cooking in the crock pot and for desert pumpkin pie and whipped cream. Very good as we were watching the news.
It's a very tense situation going on over there in the Ukraine. I just hope calmer heads prevail.
I got my casual Lodge meeting at 7pm tonight, which means I'll be leaving out of here about 6pm or and I might even get a ride. I'll try and negotiate a ride first. That way I can get a Tim's coffee on the way in. I have keys to the building so it won't be too bad. Anyway, that's all for now.
Saturday morning I had my Tim's breakfast and had a good start to the shift, except a minor error on my part. It was about the last hour of the shift when the error was made. The way I'm screwing up there, I'd be surprised if I'm still there by the end of the week. I'm not going to worry about it. When my lower back is soar this is a signal saying ok
its time to get out of bed.
I'm up for a few hours so it's time to put a blog post together, it's my favorite day of the week. Plus it's a new month. So lets get started.
At the moment it's about -27/34 It's a cold one. The good news is by this time next weekend, it's going to be about -3 or -5 in that range. My morning commute in about 5.5 hours is going to be a cold one. At 9am I'm on my bus to Clareview and into Tim's for a bit of breakfast. It's a chance for me to wake up check on my email on their wifi and then that long 800 foot walk or so to the Financial building. The wind chill is going to go right up my arse all the way. I've got a full day of 7.5 hours, then home.
I'm looking at several call centre jobs to fill up hours from 11-4. I've got phone numbers I'm calling Monday, so if I get sent home, I'll have something other then my savings to land on.
With any luck at all I might end up getting home by about 7pm have a nap and settle in with a cold beer and watch the Oiler game. Win or lose should be a good time. Anyway, that's all for today.
