Its often hard for me to get any sleep

overnight when I need to go into work on a Saturday morning. I might have got an hour and a half sleep. Usually when listening to some ambient music on YouTube can put me to sleep. Not earlier at 4:30am. Its hard getting up to go  into work on a Saturday morning but once I have my first coffee, I feel pretty good going in.

Over the last couple of years I've been wanting to get Korg's digital audio workstation or daw, for the i0S called "Gadget." At $54 its an expensive app. Last summer Korg had a major update for this app and made it available across all i0S platforms, including our iPad2 and my iPod Touch 5Gen. Plus its 32 bit. However, I never had the cash even when it was reduced in price at that time. Since I was able to save a bit of cash from my blackjack winnings earlier this week, and it was black Friday, would Gadget be at 50% off again? It was. I hurried over to Shoppers Drug mart across the street got x2 $15 iTunes cards and hurried back home across the street. I opened up iTunes on our iPad and let the camera do its thing to take the picture of the code and I bought the app. It works great, very happy.

That set me off feeling good about black Friday and I headed into work and I figured, eh, why not buy 2 more $2 blackjack tickets. At my station settling into the free hot chocolate, I played and got nothing. My shift wasn't great either. But at least I got a ride to Southgate, and I feel good about that, and the Oilers were winning in Arizona. Happy days. The supervisor at work doesn't like me at all. She's a young 25 something, loaded with tattoos. But my ride encouraged me that the offer to drive me to Southgate goes beyond just me. I know Super goes to Southgate. I asked her on the way out at the end of the shift if she wanted a ride to Southgate. She said "I'm good," mainly getting in a car with me even with another person in the back with us (I take the front seat anyway because I'm the old guy) is not agreeable to her. I'm on the Southgate lrt platform and I can see the #6 bus roll in and Super in her familiar red coat. I know she needed this Clareview train and it was coming my way. She'd have to take the escalator and run through the over pass run down the stairs beside the escalator to catch it. I knew she was going to miss my train. I had to smile at that. When I got home, to catch the last 5 minutes of the Oilers game it was tied at 2 and went into over time. McDavid scored but fractions of a second went down. The goal was under review. Even colour commentating said the goal wouldn't hold up. The ruling was no goal. Into the shoot out. We got 1 goal but lost in the shootout, 3-2. Wait to Sunday when they come to our barn. By then the 104th grey cup game (hopefully) will be over. Lets go Ottawa.

Except losing at blackjack, my negative performance and the Oilers losing. I felt good about yesterday. Today, I'm going in for my south side job and out of there at 2:15pm. I might go get my Space Marine Battles book at Audrey's on the way home, go to BP's and have a drink at the bar and head home. Maybe pass out on the train. Anyway, that's all for now.

Last nights chili isn't sitting with me that well

this morning. Note to self: No spicy food before bed on a Friday night. Especially when I have a 5 hour window for sleep. But I'm ok now (more or less) and its only a 4 hour shift today.

Yesterday's East Coast DNS hack attack shut down the Internet for much of the day. I was able to get through and do some FB messaging this morning. Apparently the DNS was a very costly day. Internet security experts know the code, they just don't know (or are not saying) where it originated from. Some speculate this was an attempt to compromise the US election. This is DNS attack was on a massive scale. Personally I believe this is an effort to shut down Wikileaks because of the major announcements that might have a serious implications on the US election, November 8th.

Later today is the Oilers/Jets alumni hockey game. Its a outdoor winter game in Winnipeg. It isn't like the original heritage classic that occurred in 2003 13 years ago here in Edmonton. There was something special about that game. That was the NHL's (in the modern era) first outdoor hockey game. This game is an exception to all of the heritage classics of the past. The Edmonton/Winnipeg rivalry runs deep. Now its becoming a (in my opinion) a bit of a joke. These guys like Gretzky are getting old. They can still skate and all but by their own admission, its getting harder and harder to play the game like even half of what they used to. And then the NHL has these "winter classics" that are outside of "traditional" winter cities, and that aren't  even original 6 teams. However, I'm talking about 2 different events: The "Heritage Classic" and the "Winter Classic." At least the Oilers/Montreal Canadians had an original 6 team rivalry. I can see Boston/New York Rangers in a outdoor game. Those are two original six teams. Where they would have it, is another story. This afternoon is mostly for the fans. It doesn't mean anything but the regular season game will be tomorrow afternoon and its also an outdoor game. Watching a NHL regulation game outdoors is why I watch the heritage classic.

After work this afternoon, I'm meeting Anne at Clareview again, so she gets the bus pass for tonight. Then I'm getting a bag of chips for my CFL game: Its Eskimo's at BC lions. I think there are 3 games left in the season and the Esks want to win in the West for that finale play off birth. This way we avoid a cross over. But if it happens there's a strong possibility that if we get to the finale it could be a Edmonton/Calgary match up. The Oilers are playing at 1pm this afternoon in Winnipeg. I'll be at work or on my way home for most of this one. My "wing man" sits beside me. She's been with the organization for a lot of years and does some important work for the company. She's almost like the 2nd in command of the Super and she usually gets the games up for me on her phone, and I can access open city wifi (if this gets posted) and get the scores at Southgate and along my way home. The third period might be underway by the time I meet my wife at Clareview. Then I get a day off tomorrow. Anyway, that's all for now.

Life is moving along here one day at a time

with work and all that other stuff. I'm waking up with my first coffee this morning trying to get my brain in gear. I like this time of morning as I have a few hours to myself before I get on with the day, and its going to be a long one.

I've been using my little pc stick for the past couple of weeks now. Its pretty good, I like it and I'm enjoying Windows 10. I like how I can mark up any web page like google maps and 1 button gets to my email. I don't like the 32 Gb hard drive space but I knew that when we bought this device. I've seen 64 Gb micro sd cards locally here on sale for about $20. I also don't like the 1 usb port and I wish that this device had a audio jack. My sound card works if its plugged directly into usb port of my pc stick but won't work over a usb hub and the audio isn't that good when my soundcard is plugged into the stick. My usb mouse works ok over the usb hub but I'm constantly swapping the mouse between the pc stick and my desktop. My current keyboard is a ps2 serial port keyboard. I've seen ps2/usb keyboard dongles but I'm not sure if this will work through my usb hub, like my soundcard. I've been using the pc stick's on screen keyboard, and it has its limitations obviously. However my pc stick comes with bluetooth 4. The only compatible bluetooth devices we have is our 2 Apple products. This means if I want to use bluetooth, I'm going to have to get a bluetooth mouse, keyboard, headphones and a speaker etc, which increases the $130 investment. What I'd like to do is to have a way where I can boot 2 different operating systems on the same monitor like tab browsing. KVM switches are good solutions that have been out for awhile now but my Lenova plugs into a hdmi slot into my monitor. I've seen hdmi vga ports before. There's no vga port on my pc stick. Lots of stuff to consider here moving forward.

I'm out of here at 9am for my commute. By 5pm with a hour to go, I'm pretty wiped out. I like to have my 3rd Saturday break about 4:45pm, just to go out for a breath of fresh air. Anyway, that's all for now.

I had about an hour to myself

when I got up Saturday morning. Anne made me a frozen sausage egg mcmuffin, type thing with some frozen hash brown patties I defrosted in the mic and I had that with my morning coffee, it was ok. It was a beautiful Spring morning out there on my way to work. The  #5 showed up at last. I haven't seen this for a couple of weeks now. I didn't know if anyone was at the other job on my way in.

The above image is from the Edmonton Journal of a few days ago.

Saturday night I put together a short video using my iPod Touch using iMaschine and audio share. Its nothing special just a little 2 minute jam. I'm having trouble trying to get the wav file out of audio share even though it gives a lot of options. I've tried to email the file and my email bounces it. I forgot to restore Garageband because it can record audio from inter app audio. i think iMaschine only exports its audio to Soundcloud.

Apparently Anne had called me at about 7:30pm but I missed the call. She hasn't been calling me lately. Hopefully we'll have no drama and it'll be a quiet weekend. latter today I'm checking in on Kijiji for jobs. So far it is. Anyway, that's all for now.

I had enough

sleep overnight, so I don't feel to bad. I slept for about 2 hours and rested for about 2. I'm ok for the rest of the day. Anne made me a fried egg sandwich and I have a coffee I'm working on.

Most likely the word is out that physicists have discovered the elusive gravitational waves. The announcement this week that gravity waves have been detected adds another key to Einsteins theory of relativity. I'm not sure what the implications of this mean but its a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Apparently this discovery will allow researchers to understand more about space-time.

I'm in the office for the full day from 10-6pm cleaning up on a project. Its going to be a long day but for the most part its a afternoon shift. I should be home around 7pm, have a bite to eat and watch the jets/Oilers game. Anyway, that's all for now.

Its been a rough week for sure last week what

with losing David Bowie and Sporty. At least the first half of January is in the bank. It's been a tough month so far. Pension is less then 20 months away. Can it come soon enough?

Anne's been looking after this outdoor stray cat that's been discarded from across from us in Edmonton Housing. He's been hunkering down under a utility shed all last winter. Anne goes over every night to feed him change his blanket and make sure he's comfortable from the elements. She brought him inside here 2 days after losing Sporty. I know that sounds kind of ghoul but its so cold over night. He's been hanging out here, separated from the other guys. I nick named him Rusty because of his colours:

Heading into work yesterday morning I had a headache and I felt I could have used another 4 hours sleep. It was very cold waiting for my bus but I was inside at Central, about 4 paces away from my #5 that pulled up about 9:30am and then into the office. At least they had the coffee ready. After a briefing I was screwing up all day about 4 mistakes, logging in, adding conditions. It was brutal but the shift was shorter then usual. I screwed up near the end as I was getting a lot of call backs and I found out that I somehow added an extra number, which was the call backs for Monday. That's how my day was. I'm on thin ice at my job and almost expect to be fired on Thursday when I go back but Super said he wasn't going to write me up but I'm pretty sure I'm going to have a chat with him and the boss on Thursday behind closed doors. I've got another job lead I'll be following up with in the next few days and my other job ends on Wednesday. The rate of pay is better then the job I was at Saturday but the hours aren't. My second job doesn't get underway until March and ends May-15th. If I get that other job, then I wont care so much. I haven't got anything yet from the 3rd job.

After work I thought about heading to Wendy's for a Baconator burger but Anne's getting me one for WWE's "Royal Rumble." I settled in to watch the Flames/Oiler game. The Oilers won in a shoot out. Cam Talbot was amazing. Now the Oilers go on the road for a few games. I'm just relaxing today sleeping in late and reading. Anyway, that's all for now.

I've been going hard at it over the past few days

with work. At the moment working the election until the last hour and then a clean up project for the last hour for 7.5 hours. I got home just before 11pm last night. Today I'm in from 1:30-9:30pm but I have tomorrow off but back at it Sunday. Then the same hours for all next week. Or at least that's what the week looks like moving forward.

With 4 days to go the Federal election race is just bout to come to a close. Its been a long 74 out of 78 day campaign. The front runner now are the Liberals. Out of all the party leaders Justin Trudeau speaks with more passion then the other leaders. Our current PM has been in power for far too  long. Maybe its time for a change. I'm leaning towards Liberal this year because I agree with almost everything about their platform. We need infrastructure while we're in these tough economic times. It worked for Canada during the 2008-9 cash crunch its a good recipe for Canada today. We don't need a balanced budget right now. The NDP's balanced budget and their platforms are going to cost way too much. The Conservatives are mostly looking out for the upper middle class and beyond. At the moment the Liberals are leading in the poles. They need a majority Government.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my day off tomorrow. I'd like to go to lodge but I'm going to the District meeting next Saturday. I'm considering heading out to get a hard drive for my computer. Its running on mb's. It needs a bit of love. I can go out and get the hard drive screw driver set and sata cable, then to Red Robin across the street have a beer and a bite to eat. Anyway its a full day today that's all for now.

Three days ago I was bathed in the

cool air of a fan in my office here at home. We're sitting at +15 when the other day this time of day we were at +21. The cooler air is most welcome here in the city and at the moment we're getting some much needed rain. I hope it rains all day.

I haven't heard from my employer all week, which leads me suggest there's been no work for anyone or the office is shut down for August. So, I decided why not go there and see whats going on. I took the bus/train bus uptown to 124th and 107th street and into the office. I made pretty good timing only to find 2 of my colleagues there. One was doing coding and the other working on a focus group. There hasn't been a schedule posted all week. The boss and super were out having lunch. I couldn't even fill out a calendar as they never had any printed. I hung about for 15 minutes. They said they'd let them know I was here. Its the usual story line: steady shifts return next month. Unless they call me before hand I'll just wait until after the labour day weekend and call. That is if I find something else by then. My wife is right I need a 2nd part time job that is steady that has no lay offs until I get pension. I'm going to try something in the security guard area. The hardest thing about that line of work is just trying to stay awake. I've done security guard work before I got married. I wouldn't mind doing that on weekends and the market research job 2 days a  week until pension.

Some major breaking City news. The 3km Metro lrt line apparently will be online Sunday September 6th ready for the school year. The City is using what's called a line of sight approach to signaling with slightly reduced frequency times. In other words after 15 months, this long awaited and delayed system will finally be operational. As a side note, The 27km Valley line from Mill Woods to downtown (phase 1) is in its early stages of preparation, getting 29 buildings along the 1st phase of its route ready for demolition. By this time next year the Valley line should be in the early phases of construction mode.

I'm up around noon today and at 1-3 I'll watch Smackdown and then I've got a couple of cfl football games to watch. I got BC/Hamilton and Ottawa/Calgary. Other then that, not much going on this weekend.Anyway, that's all for now.

Day one of the FIFA

tournament last night Canada won 1-0. There was 53,000 in attendance at Commonwealth Stadium.

There was a lot going on what with FIFA and Pride day and Justin Trudeau and NDP leader Thomas Mulcare. There was a custom made running shoe event going on as well plus there was other activities, like the Craft beer festival underway at the Expo centre. Lots going on.

Today Anne and I are out at Capital Pizza and a ice cream treat at dairy queen. Anyway, that's all for now.

Funds are limited for us

this weekend but at least we have groceries and cat food for the cats to get buy until Friday. Anne and I both get paid. Friday.

Yesterday I got 3 hours on the job but we ran out of numbers so I'll have 25.5 hours on my cheque this week. After work I decided to go to Audrey's to see if my Space Marine battles book was in but its on ts way. I went to Burger Baron and ordered a large order of fries and a diet coke. While enjoying my snack inside facing the street the wind picked up outside creating a huge dust storm. I tried to wait it out and I took the stairs down to Corona and took the train to Clareview but dozed off and found myself heading South. Ok, I was tired anyway. I got off back at Clareview and home.

I was trying to watch the last Oiler game and I passed out on the couch and near the end of the 1st period it was 2-1 Oilers. What? I sat up to take notice. Then Anne called, she's getting sick as well. I went to watch the 2nd period and again I dozed off on the couch and woke up the score was 4-3 Oilers. I paid attention after that. At one point it was 5-3 Oilers. Then they blew a 2 goal lead and the Canucks won in OT. Typical Oiler's. At least that season is over with, thank God. Bring on the playoffs.

Anne got home early because she's got what I've got and lost her voice. She made me a burger and fries and went to Walmart. I was watching the news when she got home and on local news they showed a overhead city shot of the dust storm that went through. Reminds me of some of the massive dust storms they receive in Australia. Anyway, that's all for now.

Saturday, November 22, 2014

Were having a snow day out there today and its coming down

pretty good. Hopefully we don't get the snow they had in Buffalo the other day.

I'm thinking about what to get my wife for Christmas. Since she doesn't read this blog or even know it exists, I'm safe. I'd like to get her a digital photo frame and Staples has a nice one for about $50 and I'd like to get her a Tim's card and the iPod Nano. When I get the xbmc system set up hopefully we can reduce our cable down to something more manageable. At least that's the idea, in theory.

This afternoon I'm putting a Fan Duel (fd) fantasy nfl football team together. Under the salary cap of course. For some reason fd deposited $10 into my fd account and my pp account shows normal. Strange. Anyway, that's all for now.

Saturday, November 1, 2014

We're holding at +5 so far this afternoon

and calling for +8 today.

Before bed this morning I signed up for a Chapters plumb account which gets me wifi at all Chapters locations. Handy to download ebooks a gift card. Apparently though my set up got compromised somehow as something went wrong. I'll bring my Kobo into Chapters to see if I can still access their wifi anyway.

If everything goes according to plan I should have 100 hours on my next cheque. That's if I get all the hours in from tomorrow until Friday. However, anything can happen to offset that plan off the rails. The client could pause the project to look at the data, or even end the project right there and other things that could take me off the project. For now I'll take it day by day. I haven't had 100 hours on a cheque since the old ACT days in the early 1990's over 22 years ago. These days I'm lucky if I can get 40 hours/week.

It's a nice looking day out there for our last day of daylight savings time. Overnight the clocks get set back an hour. I'm about to head out to Northgate/Chapters get my things, Wendy's Dollar-rama and home.

Today its BC/Eskimo's and Vancouver/Oiler's. I love weekends like this even though I'm back tomorrow noon-8pm. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Why sleep never came when I went to bed some

5 hours ago isn't much of a mystery. My restless legs syndrome compromised the idea of sleep as soon as I got under the covers.

I'm concerned about this meeting later this morning. I need to print off a copy of the report \i have to deliver at the meeting. it's in two pages but the font is small. I also got to dress up and head to Rexall, get the #8 bus to lodge by about 9:30am. I hope to leave out of here 8:30, in theory. This way I can have some breakfast cereal before heading out. After the meeting and festive board I hope I can get a ride back to my place and before Anne leaves. This way I can nap for awhile and maybe catch some of the BC/Winnipeg CFL game. There's no Oiler game this weekend so the Football game and maybe Doctor Who are all that's on TV this weekend.

I have a bit of a dilemma. I bought the Kobo aura ebook reader a few weeks ago reader to read Warhammer 40K ebooks etc that the Black Library (BL) doesn't publish in print form. As a experiment I tried to (using a popular 3rd party app called Calibre") and a book from Google's project Gutenberg. Kobo wouldn't take the book and I think this is because the book was not in a "Digital Rights Management" or DRM format. Next weekend I'm going to try and order a BL ebook from the Horus Heresy series as its in ePub format and see if that can be added to the aura library. If not then, that pretty much renders my Kobo useless. The other ebook option and I like this as well, is to get the new iPad mini 2. The iPad mini 3 has just been released but the mini 2 is cheaper and I can use it for other things as well. The iBook store has most if not all of the Horus Heresy stuff where as Kobo hasn't any Warhammer 40k. I don't know if I can get other BL ebook editions though from iBooks. Anne usually uses our iPad more then I do. I was also looking at the iPod touch 5th gen and that still might be a option but the screen size is still pretty small to read ebooks and I don't find it a very good reading experience as its hard on the eyes and too much pinch and zoom. The price difference between the low end iPad mini and the 32Gb iPod touch isn't that much of a price spread either. So, that's my dilemma. Do I keep trying to get ePub books onto Kobo or abandon Kobo for the mini, where I can buy ebooks using a iTunes gift card from there? Or will Calibre take the iTunes ebook from my laptop even though my laptop isn't a Mac? I have just under $10 bucks to spend in my iTunes account.

Not that I'm going to have much of a weekend anyway this time around what with this meeting this morning. At least \i'll have the night to myself. I'm back on the job tomorrow from noon-8pm. Its a long day Sunday and I'm 1-10pm all this week. Hours like these where I work are rare and I want to take advantage of them as they probably will come to a end by about Grey cup weekend. After that most likely its 5-9. Anyway, that's about all for now.

The Sun is shining brightly this

morning as I'm packing my things up to get that 9am bus to Clareview and to 107th and 111th street. I'm there for 4 hours and then the bus back to Bay Station and I got about 4 blocks to go from there to 100th and 106th street as I'm working 3 hours from 3-6pm. It's going to be a long day. I won't be back until about 7pm, but I'll be ok. At least I'll be able to pass out on the couch when I get home and watch a bit of football, maybe. I could go back to bed and sleep until noon I'm that tired but at least I got more or less a full day. Anyway, that's all for now.

The new job seems to be

running along ok. Its basic telemarketing but I'm not selling anything. It's easy enough to do and the hours are decent enough.

Sometime this month I'm supposed to know, one way or another, if I'm going to get on this extended medical benefits plan. It's from the Alberta Government and is similar to a company health care plan. It's different then Alberta Health care. It's set up for emergency situations and was strongly recommended in writing by my Doctor. My local PCN feels that there's no reason why I shouldn't be accepted. It even covers my wife as well. My PCN says I should get a card in the mail very soon. Maybe next week sometime. it's mostly to cover my diabetic needs but the plan covers beyond what Alberta Health care would cover. The plan covers my diabetic supplies, vision/optical, and most important right now, dental and dentures. If I get the card this week next time I see my Doctor (Monday) I'm going to ask about my dental and what we can do to get my teeth done. Pending of course when (and if) I get the card in the mail. I might some time off in the hospital until my gums heal but I'd do this about mid September. I'm sure my job will accommodate me. Getting my teeth done has been on my mind for sometime now.

Yesterday I went to Audrey's and picked up my Warhammer 40k book. "There is only war." It's a Warhammer anthology of 42 short stories published last year. I hope it sells well enough to bring out a 2nd volume sometime this year or next.

Also on my commute I read a bit at Campus waiting for the #4 bus and then I had a bit of a wait at wem. ETS had this grey low floor bus. It's an electrical bus. Not a hybrid and apparently its wifi enabled and looks really cool. I'm going to try and see if the fellow I'm meeting with after coffee can drop me off at wem so I can get a photo and try out the new bus. This bus apparently is the only one of it's kind in all the 900+ buses in ETS's fleet of bus.

Prior to when my colleague was living at Westmount my drive home colleague and I would take the Yellowhead and run down 50th. I mentioned to her if she would be able to pull into the Wendy's drive through on my way home as it was on the way. Then I realized as we were heading towards the Canadian tire store off 129th to Fort Road, we were not anywhere near Wendy's. I almost said to cancel because my meeting ride this afternoon can always go to "Harvey's" on 170th there. She said it was no problem. So as we went over the Manning overpass it was just off in the right side lane by Pet Smart (Sparky) and a few minutes South on 50th. I got a Double Baconator and biggie fries for my lunch and watched Smackdown. That way Anne didn't have too cook anything.

I'm out here at 8:30am. One of my colleagues from my lodge said he'd be able to pick me up this morning and said he'd be out here at 8:30am. I emailed him and called so he doesn't swing by here thinking he's going to pick me up. I called him before Anne got in and left a message for him not to pick me up as I wouldn't be attending. I feel bad I can't make it but I need the hours as well. I am however going to meet with the fellow running the meeting after. If there's no snags. He's got the address to where I work and he said he could meet with me after 1:30pm for coffee today and to give me the details as to what happened. Also, if that electric bus is there I can get off at 95th ave/156th street and snap a photo of Sandy lane. I've been wanting to do that since last Octobers fire. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Saturday, August 2, 2014

Anne and I both have 3 days off

together. She wants to go out for Pizza on the South side this afternoon where I'd rather just stay home. Last time we were out anywhere was I think in April. Our only day for this is today because as far as I know the LRT is shut down Sunday and Monday and its going to be a hot one today but I had a good 9 hours sleep, so lets go.

Its not like I don't want a image for the new book I'm reading but Google wont let me. I can't even add a gadget today. I think they are doing maintenance but keeping running lights on. That's why I'm even able to post today but yes I finished reading "The Flight of the Eisenstein." Now I'm reading book 5 of the Horus Heresy series: "Fulgrum." I hope to have it read by the end of the labour day weekend, so hopefully Google will have their issues resolved this weekend and I can get my new read graphic up.

My wife says I got a call from the other job something about forms. I called the other office and my security clearance came through ok. I don't know when we start but my current job my 3-9 is my bread and butter job. The part time one is something for weekend pocket money, and music production gear since I don't want to give up either job. I would have been working this weekend but I failed to put in my availability. I need to go in for Tuesday to fill out the forms for Victoria. The part time job is basically Saturday afternoons from 3-6 and Sunday 12-8. Until I get funds saved for my iMac I'm including Monday nights in there as well. Anyway, that's about all for today.

Sunday, July 20, 2014

My colleague and I hustled out of the

the premises at work for the #126 to Westmount and about half way we see the bus turn the corner at the stop. We were going to miss it. About 15 minutes later the #126 came by the other way heading to the mall. My colleague came along with me to wem and suggested since I'm in a hurry to get downtown, why not catch the #100 express? That was a great idea. I got downtown in 20 minutes and into the building about 2:45pm. My boss was ready to leave as he said they tried to call me and email me saying there was no work because of a cell tower in the North West Territories was down. Ok.

I decided to go over to Audrey's and order some Warhammer 40k audio books. I can't recall the names but I ordered 3 and got the next 2 Horus Heresy books on order. Feeling good about that, I got caught in a sun shower on the corner on my way to Corona lrt station. Then the train home. I got in about 4pm and had the whole night to myself. I watched a bit of CFL football and Anne called and then my boss saying  no shifts fo Sunday but I asked if I could come in Monday night. I doubt that will be open but they'll contact me if it is. Note to self: Start the shift from 3-6 on Saturdays.

In my email I discovered a pretty cool plug in from Sugarbytes called "Egoist." it's a glichy type of a vst. At $99 bucks the price is right. Anyway, that's all for now.

My ride is going to call

me in about an hour to say she is on her way for a 8:30am pick up. Then we go to Westmount to pick up somebody else and then the McDonald's drive through and into the office and I'll have my breakfast before I start and it's a fast 4 hour shift. I'm done at 1:30pm, sweet.

This afternoon I'm catching a bus to wem then to Campus and then to Audrey's books. I probably wont be able to pick anything up today. That wont happen until the 23rd. That's another 2 weeks away yet. I haven't had a pay cheque in almost 3 weeks. If it wasn't for my proline winnings last week, I'd be broke and even now, I'm living off of that. I'll be able to afford breakfast and another $2 proline ticket because my first pick yesterday ended up in a tie game. The RB's/Esks (much to the delight of we the fans) was a Eskimo win. I still have 2 cfl games left for today and if I can get to a booth before 3:3pm I can still make a pick. Its a parley of 3 games minimum but there World Cup is on Sunday and I can include that as a proline tie or Argentina win, since it's kind of like a Home game for them. So it's Calgary/Argo's Argo's to win and BC/Riders,I don't know about this. I'm going to go for a tie game here.W, T, T. It's only $2.

Then after that, I'm going to head for home and enjoy my weekend. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year but after this the days -

gradually get shorter.

I haven't watched Saturday afternoon wrestling in a long time. Kind of reminds me of the old Stampede wrestling  days of the '80's. It was also good to have a night off.

The NHL is releasing its schedule for the 2014-15 season today and the Oiler's first game is October 9th. I try to watch as many games as possible. The Oiler's have a few players coming up through the ranks but unless they start playing better defense, then his upcoming campaign will most likely end up with the same results as this years. I think Taylor Hall is becoming a little frustrated with being on a losing team all the time. It showed a little with the water bottle toss at the coach earlier this year. Even the fans are getting frustrated tossing jersey's on the ice.

For the most part Saturday was very quiet. I stayed indoors all day. Anne made me a great burger/fries before she went to work. I had a relaxing night to myself and I'm almost ready for bed.

Saturday morning I went into Tim's for my breakfast

and morning coffee and had a slow start for the day. I ended up with 6. I think my total was the top one for yesterday amongst the room.

I almost dozed off on the train home, too exhausted to read. I have another full day of it today. I need the hours, although I'd like to have today off.

Update: It was a long day today but I got my hours in. A colleague took this photo of me after I showed her my camera. It was taken about 6:20pm this evening. Thanks Rebeca:

I hope everything in Calgary turned out ok yesterday. I felt bad about not being able to attend but I needed hours more then I needed an outing down to Calgary, even though it had to do with Grand Lodge. Anyway, that's all for today.
