I got an hour before I head out

too lodge on a night where I'd like to stay at home and have a night off by myself. I'm looking forward to summer. At the moment, I have very little energy to do much of anything but there's 3 more months of this until summer and 3 more months of this beginning September. Then no more chairs for awhile, if not ever. I'm done with that portion of the lodge.

Nintendo is to release their new controller "Switch" tomorrow. I'm not overly excited about this. Most likely its going to be $499 here in Canada. There's been lots of speculation about Switch. Sure the graphics look good and there a re lots of improvements under the hood. I just got the recent New Nintendo XL update and I'm hoping to get the Korg DS-12 synthesizer from Detune soon. I'm going to just stick with my Zelda edition XL. I'm in no hurry to buy Switch unless there's a killer application in there like a video capture card. Maybe the share button has something to do with video capture. So far video capture has been a 3rd party thing worth getting. If Switch closes the door on it being backwards compatible, then I might Homebrew my device. Not sure on that either.

Tomorrow, I'm up about noon out the door for a 4pm shift. I was supposed to go in for a 1-9 shift but I just got a call that my 1-9 shift was cancelled. I'm ok with that I have a 10-6pm shift Saturday. Too think I have another 10-12 weeks of this. Is it summer yet? Anyway, that's all for now.

I took my suit and apron along as I made a decision to go to Lodge

last night anyway. Anne caught me heading out the door in my suit, "oh your going out to Lodge anyway." Then she went back to bed. I felt good about making the decision, I'd "pay for it later." I called the WM elect at Corona, saying I'd be there. I mentioned to my boss about leaving at 7pm. We had training at 6pm doing a BC project, which means I'd be at Clareview station at station at 10pm as my options for catching a bus home would be less at that time. I'd get home about 11pm. 

There's been renewed interest in a high speed bullet train that would travel between Edmonton and Calgary. They ought to do it right with a Hyper-loop concept. 

The above would be better then high sped rail but it has it's share of problems. Just check out some the comments from YouTube.

Today before work I'm calling my 2nd job to see if I can get some extra hours. Hopefully I can work Thursday, Friday for 7 hours. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Last night

I decided to leave about 5:35pm and after about a 20 minute wait a bus (1 out of 5) possibilities finally limped along over the Manning over pass and limped along finally to Clareview. I still had a 10 minute wait at Rexall but my bus there came more or less on time. I arrived at the Lodge, about an hour since I left out of my place. Unbelievable.

Yesterday Hollywood lost Jean Stapleton best known for the role as Archie Bunker’s wife Edith on “All in the Family.” The early episodes were the best. Such a show by today’s standards wouldn’t cut it past the politically correct climate of today’s network climate.

Still with television, Matt Smith, the 11th Doctor of Doctor Who will be leaving the show after the Christmas special. I began watching the show because of him. Matt Smith has done a lot of work in the media and has written a number of Doctor Who books. About every 3 years lately BBC seems to get a new Doctor for the show. Despite Matt Smith‘s departure, I‘ll still be a fan of the show.

My meeting was more or less successful and I’m glad I went. I was home shortly after 9pm. So I had a pretty good night last night but it’s back for a full week for me. Anyway, that’s about all for now.

I booked off work

at 4pm yesterday and got the train and was home by 4:45pm. I had a bit of time, changed and left out of here before 6pm.

I had a bit of a wait at the Lodge and Nathan was first to show up. I didn’t know John (Hall custodian) was there but evidently he was and after ringing the buzzer he let us in. I had a great night. I was almost letter perfect this evening. I had a beer at the festive board and Roger drove me to Wendy’s on the way home where I had a baconator and fries to take home as I wanted to take some stress of Anne’s shoulders from making me late lunches.

I watched the CBC late night news for a change. Peter Mansbridge, their main anchor has been there for 25 years. May 2nd 1988. Wow, hard to believe that was 25 years ago. I was 35 years old thin and had teeth and working at the Army & Navy. Where has all the time gone?

I think what I’m going to do, the weekend of the 18th after Lodge, is run over to LM if there’s time and then order the monitors to take home. It‘s a plan.

Today, I‘m in for a full day, then over to get a book at Audrey‘s Rexall for a bag of chips a 6/49 and head for home. SJ/Vancouver tonight. Anyway, that‘s about all for now.

list were "Movies 12" just down here off of 50th street and "Empire Cinemas." Anne's trying to find out if my Scotia Scene cards 4 movies can be redeemed at either of these 2 movie theaters nearby. other then "Looper" coming up there isn't a lot out there I'd like to see.

I took the train to Rexall and got to street level to wait for my bus. I had my book to read for a brief wait to the Lodge and there was a truck there. Mike was there and said something "like lets go inside," Um, sure but I didn't have a key. Dan has my key. He told me that the only ones that were to have a key from our Lodge were JW, SW, WM. Dan said that only the 3 main officers should have a key. He said that since I'm always getting a ride with Neil I really don't need a key so I gave it to him. As vehicles were filing in we tried to get the building custodian's phone number but nobody had it until we managed to get it from someone and made the call and ten minutes later John came along but he never said anything to me about it. I thought when I got there that Mike (SW) had the key. We got inside and had a productive meeting that lasted for about an hour and a half. We got all the chairs filled. Nathan gave me a lift home and I was in by 8:45pm.

I was considering heading in for work tomorrow for the 5-9 shift but that would have cut my weekend short and I want to sleep in a bit tomorrow and work on my demo song for a bit

Only one of my CFL picks came through for me this weekend. All the Home teams won including the Riders/Montreal. Montreal won. 

Just before I headed out while having our brunch, Anne and I were watching Doctor Who "A town called mercy," was excellent. I love it. Here's a teaser from the show:

This is the best science fiction television going. I'd love to see a Doctor who silver screen movie with these characters, it'd be awesome. 

Anne's going to try out my Scene movie card tomorrow at Movies 12 and if it works, I'll wait until "Looper" comes out. Anyway, that's about all I have for now.   

This date is important

but also for me it marks 8 months ago this week we lost Sparky. Hard to believe we had him a year ago, healthy and alive. I miss him a lot.

This week marks the 40th year of the famous 1972 Canada/Russia hockey series. I wasn't too much into it but I recall dad was into it when he was home, setting everything up for mom and the other kids to leave for Edmonton a year later. I was 19 in 1972 and that was the year I was working at Canadian Pacific Railway in Port Coquitlam with a beard and as I was walking home on a rainy afternoon, an unmarked car pulled me over and asked if I would participate in a Police line up. I also recall a bachelor party event that year from some church colleagues and how I was getting tired and board and how I left the event finding my way along the Loughheed Highway heading East hitch hiking. I don't think I was missed at all. How the years go by.

It's Lodge night this evening. Anne's going to use her Pizza discount and since it's the duty of every JW chair to take care of the festive board for after the lodge, I'm asking Neil to pick me up a doz assorted donuts and 3 Pizzas along the way like we did in June. A doz donuts should be enough for desert. Next Saturday I'm at Commercial Lodge from about 1-5pm and then that Sunday at Highlands for our Board of General Purposes meeting September 16th from 6-8pm to get all the Lodge chairs for the upcoming year. I suspect though that tonight will be an in and out kind of an evening. I should be home by 10pm. Anyway, that's all for now.

It's going to be quick meeting

this evening, all I got to do is to pick up a box of assorted donuts and then 3 X large pizzas and an easy night at the Lodge.

Ok, I'm still a Conservative Party supporter despite some of the things our PM is doing. Firstly I don't like the decision to have the EI tweaked. There's no way a laid of banker making $120k/year should be forced to make $12 at Tim Hortans. Or if you can't find a job in your community/City in your chosen field you should move to another City because there might be a job there. That's just wrong. I do like the idea of Canadians first and we should limit the amount of foreign workers. The other thing I don't like is the raising the age of OAS from 65-67. He even said he wouldn't back in 2004. This is a real bone of contention for a lot of people. On these 2 issues, Harper dropped the ball. I totally agree though that he should fast track things like the Gateway and Keystone pipelines and pull the plug on "charitable tax status" of these foreign funded radical groups that are threatening to hijack Canada's economy.  

I was going into work this afternoon but for 4 hours its not worth it for the company and it is summer as Anne. Next Monday I'm going in because Saturday, Commercial Lodge has their last meeting and I want to affiliate with Commercial as I'm beginning to know some of the guys there.

Well, LA couldn't get the job done last night. It looked like they were running out of gas. They'll go to NJ and get it done there Saturday night. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Even though yesterday my

sales were low, I had a 100% bank. Next week is going to be a great check because I’m getting some nice bonus money and a full check. And the RJS book after Lodge.

Me and my colleagues from the office were out having some drinks at out local watering hole. I had a nice bacon cheese burger and a pint of beer watching the first part of the Rangers/Caps game. I headed home with a slight buzz feeling alright and in by 7pm to watch what was left of the 2nd and in the 3rd was a real disaster for Washington because “OV” had coughed up the puck and turned it over making a tie game into a 2-1 lead for the Rangers. Ovechkin has made game difference turnovers before but to do this on a game #7 was a disaster. I’m sure nobody feels as bad about it as “OV.”

 I had a bit of a nap after the game for about an hour or so after Anne had called. I checked my 6/49 tickets and I got 2 numbers from a quick pick. #5 and #37 and if one of those numbers had been the bonus number I would have given me $5. Somebody though did win the $21M prize last night. Nobody as of yet, had claimed the $50M on the Max. It’s still up for grabs.

After I get out of bed around noon and after I call, I‘m going to see if they have the iPad “camera connection kit.” With this I can plug my midi controller and play Garageband (GB) instruments from my controller, which will have a different dimension to GB.

Anne said she‘ll lend me the cash for the RJS book and before I head into the office Friday afternoon, I‘ll get the book and head into the office and after work take the train up to my bank cash my check wait for Anne in 2nd Cup and head home for 3 days off. That way Saturday when I go to Lodge I‘ll just go in enjoy the afternoon and fellowship later.

Also, I‘m thinking when I go in, I‘m going to see if I can get Frank and if Reg is there get my affiliation petition in so I‘ll have that ready for June when I go in. I‘m not going to become a member but I will be affiliated with them. This way I can do parts in their Lodge, without having to take chairs in the Lodge. I have no interest in taking on any chairs in that Lodge but I‘m interested in becoming a member to get the degrees in the Canadian Rite Concordant bodies.. I have a petition here for affiliation I was going to do in October but being JW in my Lodge is keeping me pretty busy. I wont take any chairs in Commercial until after I become IPM in my Lodge, then I‘ll take chairs.

This afternoon I‘m calling to see if FS has any camera connection kits in stock. If so I‘m running down to see if they do and then pick one up and home to try it out and work on my track. Then it‘s brunch and after that the NHL LA Kings/Phoenix game #1 then do my stuff and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

I‘m also following the Oil Kings as they‘re having game #7 between Edmonton/Portland at Rexall tomorrow night, so I‘ll be following both games this evening. Life is good. Anyway, that‘s about all for now. 

Lodge this evening wasn't bad.

The boss let us out half an hour early at 4pm and I hurried home. I got into the apartment I think about 4:45pm. I called some people to get some details about tonight if we were just meeting at Highlands Hall or holding an opening/closing type thing. it was the latter. We did that for about half an hour and then we piled into 3 cars to Freemason Hall. It wasn't bad.I learned a few things in my 2nd Canadian Rite appearance this Spring. After it was over I left out of there about 9:30pm, not wanting to partake in the festive board. I met Anne at Bay Station shortly after 10pm and now we're home.More tomorrow. Sorry for any spell o's here.
