I'm thinking about heading out

I called the vendor about my compression stockings. I asked if I could pick them up next week when the weather would be a bit more comfortable, instead of this +29°-+30°C, if I could pay for said stockings over the phone. I did, and I can come pick them up anytime. Excellent. Weather next week is forecast to be about +22-24°C.

Elks Win over the BC Lions last week, brought the Green & Gold to first place in the West for week 7. I don't know if the CFL keeps win loss stats for each week. Would be interesting to know.

I had a nice relaxing day. The only issue with the compression stocking vendor is they don't deliver. Anyway, that's all for now.

I had my shift that ended

at 9pm last night, sleep and back at it this morning up at 8am for my 10-3pm shift. It's been a busy 24 hours

The weather is certainly changing. At the moment it's +10°C but it feels like +2°

For some reason I thought there was an Elks game on this weekend. but its next weekend. LOL Anyway, that's all for now.

My lodge brother picked me up

last night, shortly after 6pm. Lodge was fun. Because it was an IPM night, it was good to see returning brothers I haven't seen in awhile. It waas good to see Brother Kelly in the East.

I hated to do this but I had to cancel the eye appointment today. I was so wiped out from Lodge, it would have been a struggle to make it through my shift tonight. I'm waiting for a call back to see if there's a better time, around 11-noon next week.

Hard to believe next weekend is Thanksgiving weekend.. For the most part , we're into the low double digit weather paterns. As for tonight & Saturday, I'm working but that's ok. Anyway, that's all for now.

Our local weather is holding

ok. Right now we're situated @ ~ +1° c and overcast. This is usually early to mid March weather here in the Edmonton area. Sunsets @ 4:15. At it's lowest point the Sun sets at 4:13pm and increases lightness by ~ 1 second everyday. the 4:13 mark will be on Friday the 13th no less. 🤣 We notice this increase in sunset more by the end of January. It's still cold (most of the time) but at least its getting lighter.

We've had Netflix now for sometime but it was something that mostly Anne was using enjoying. I learned last night that WWE is moving to Netflix. and soon so will Smackdown. This is pretty cool. So I asked Anne if I could get her Netflix login credentuals as I downloaded the app on my computer. We had to change the pw of course. This means I'll be able to watch wrestling on my computer monitor

At the moment I'm waiting for Anne's Amazon order to arrive, which is 6 stops away and should be here by noon at the earliest. Anyway, that's all for now.

Not much going on this week

as our heat wave is more or less over. I don't do well in We're back in the low 20s and even high teens. Still pretty dry out there.

This Saturday morning I'd like to head out to Highlands Hall. At Highlands there is a Canadian Rite lodge I'd like to visit while the weather is good. This would be my first time at "Ye old Craft" lodge. I'd be up at 7am dress and gather stuff to be outside for the first Saturday bus @ ~ 8:15am. It's one bus ride there and back and they tyle at 9am. Feative board could be brunch. If I knew about this lodge back in 2002, I'd have attended it instead because I could get there and back on my own without asking for a ride home because the bus service stops at 9:30pm.

Today I have my favorite You Tube live stream on at 2:20pm. "Rise of Dark Leela." After that stream, Jade Starr has a good show once in awhile as well to check out. After that, lunch about 5pm. Then in and out of Monday night Raw for the rest of the night. Anyway, that's all for now.

I'm having a nice couple of days and no place to

go 😀.

Yesterday we got up to +30* and after that we get thunder rain and lightning.

Wednesday President and chief executive officer Victor Cui was sacked. I think it was a knee-jerk response because the fan base was looking for a scapegoat. In hindsight, the head office should have waited till the off-season. It was not a very classy move Elks. Last night the Elks were in Hamilton and the game was delayed due to rain for an hour and a half. Elks won 24-10.

Yesterday I bought a USB C HDMI cable from Amazon so I can output my iPad Pro to my computer monitor into my Elgato Camlink. This way OBS can recognize my iPad. I should be getting that on Monday. Anyway, that's all for now.

We feel that it is wax buildup causing

some of my hearing loss. I can hear ok on YouTube etc but the television needs to be at ~ 60% volume for me to pick up anything at all. Before bed it was eardrops. Not sure if they work at all. My Doctor helped last year with this and If this isn't cleared up by Thursday, I'll be making yet another visit next week.

At least if anything the weather is good as we approach Canada Day Saturday, July 1st.  Our weather now:

We don't do anything on Canada Day. It's mostly (imo) a family event.

The first half of yesterday's Argo's/Elks game was good 18-17. Scoring first was nice but after that, it was all Argo's. Turnovers did us in. There was the blocked punt, Argo's scored on, Horse collar, fumbling the ball on the 1-yard line, etc. We made the score respectable near the end 42-31 Argo's. Next up Friday in Ottawa. Anyway, that's all for now.

Amazon orders and chillin

has been my life lately. We're expecting Anne's chair cane to arrive any day now. I didn't recognize the initial #403 area code on my display when it came in last week so it was reshipped from Canada post. So now I'm alert and ready for our intercom buzzer to ring then the #403. Or the next number to come in.

We've got an arctic front (again) sitting over us ice icing up our windows. Well, ~ -18 isn't that cold. but it's the wind chill. We have it here until Thursday when I need to go to lodge to pay my lodge dues for the year. If I'm up for it I want to get some McDonald's on the way back. We're supposed to be having a nice weekend:

At the moment I can't do any audio/video until that Amazon order comes in. I've got some journaling to do anyway.

After Thursday, not much going on. Just the way I like it. I'm sitting here enjoying my first coffee. However, I have a bit of a DIY project I want to tackle this week before Anne starts her shift. I want to move our internet cable etc route and my tower. It's kind of sitting on the edge where it is now. The router is to the right off camera but it's going to go into the space just underneath the calendar. The computer tower is going to go over by where the desk support column is. The phone and sound card on the same shelf as the modem near my Nintendo Switch. The most difficult part of all of this is getting the router's power connecter tucked behind some furniture off camera. Also, there is a big tangled mess of cables under the desk. It's going to be a challenge to get under the desk with this old stiffed-up body.

Anne and I are doing as well as can be expected. Anyway, that's about all for now.

We're a tad on the cooler side of the

thermometer today, sitting at about +8 but feels like 6. Wind is NW at about 15. Nice day for walking except my legs are still getting used to these new compression stockings.

Its been 25 years or so that Edmonton Transit Service, (ets) did any kind of tweeking to its system. Until today. About 100 routes were eliminated. We used to have two Northgate buses that would drop us off right outside our building. Now they go to the West side of Clareview station. Not a big hardship but it is a pain in the butt. The #183 used to take us to Abbotsfield mall and I'd need to take a transfer to the #8 anyay to get to lodge. Our only bus that parks outside our place is the #104. The #104 stops running at 6pm on Sunday's. So much for lodge practice without a ride. I'm sure I'd get one though from some of the guys that live nearby. The #104 works great for me because it can take me right to lodge, and I get a ride back anyway. I wish I would have taken an interest in driving when I was growing up. The other thing about this new netork redesign is that local buses stop running just before 10pm weekdays.

Oilers hocky is back tomorrow night. I'll be able to watch that game and Wednesday's game. I'll miss the Oilers/Flames game Thusday as I'll be working Thursday, Friday, Saturday. I'll be able to watch Saturday's game after work. Other then that, we're all ok here. I'm hoping I have a full week of shifts for next week, as I want to save up enough to get the new 2021 iPad Pro 2Tb M1 iPad. I'm going to try and sell my new iPad pro locally, and include the magic keyboard as well. This device will be my last iPad (at my age) I'll be getting. Anyway, that's all for now.

There is a definite change in the

air quality this time of year. The rain in the air is quite noticeable. this time of year we could get anything. Today is expected to be a nice day. I might even go out for a walk.

Nasa's Perseverance rover helicopter "Ingenuity," might launch as early as April 8th. That would be so cool to witness. There is even a bit of the Wright brothers airplane attached to ingenuity as part of the historic flight.

There was supposed to be an Oilers/Canucks game this evening but 8 players and a staff member is on Covid protocol. That means the Oilers have 2 Montreal Canadians and 1 Canucks games to make up. So far Oilers have played 38/56 games. Barring anymore Covid protocols, means Oilers have 3 games in hand. Happy Easter eveyone. That's all for now.

My dental visit wasn't that bad

and I had 3 needles and 5 teeth removed! The bad news is that my insurance will only cover a upper denture 5 more extractions, but not the lower partial or fillings. However we have a plan for that moving forward. I was surprised that other then the 3 needles (and they were less then a mosquito bite) I felt no pain. I felt pressure but that wasn't bad. I have 5 more teeth to be extracted in 2 weeks. After that its just impressions and then 2 weeks after that, fittings. I should have a denture and partial by the end of November. Thank you Alberta Government 😃

Although its only 5 out there, I had my sweater on open window and I felt pretty good in here. Because its the first day of fall, we're down to single digit temperatures here in the Capital city. Our Sun sets now about 7:30pm.

Speaking about weather and climate change, I have to give a nod to the poster Gretta girl that has galvanized a world wide movement. I'm kind of on the fence on this issue. There are some environmental issues I sympathize with like plastics in the ocean, over fishing, landfill diversion. Those kinds of issues I feel more strongly about then climate change.

I got something going on for later today but I don't want to mention anything until I know for sure, but it looks good. I decided that until I get my dental work paid up I'm not buying anything major, like the Nintendo Switch. Looks like this is going to be a good week. Anyway, that's all for now.

Apparently we've had about 20

days this summer of +25C and over. Right now we're situated at +19, which is just right by me. Anne's off for work and I get a couple nights off 😃

Korg has their annual summer sale until Saturday. I'm really tempted to get Korg Gadget 2 for the PC.  It's 50% off normally for $300. I've been enjoying Gadget 2 on my iPad but I can get better functionality using Gadget 2 on my PC.

I got a lot of Happy birthday well wishes yesterday from family and friends. Thanks everyone. As for the next few days, nothing much is going on. I got no BBQ's, no pay per views. Most likely I'll go out and treat myself Saturday for a burger and a beer or something, well see. Anyway, that's all for now.

Not that its been a overly busy

week, but it is the summer. My blogging output has been lax for that reason. Even though work has slowed down to a crawl, I'm kept busy. I'm thinking there is one more project left to do before we move the office to the downtown core.
Today, I'm doing stuff like Facebook, You Tube, answering email before wrestling. WWE has they "Stomping grounds" ppv coming on soon this afternoon. Looks like there will be no walking this evening. I'll make up for it on Monday.

Honest to God this has been one of the coldest month's for June I've ever seen here in all my 40 years of living here in the city.  The average temperature is +17*C. That's pretty cold for this time of year. At least we don't have smoke, yet. Anyway, that's all for now.

Not a lot going at the moment

Starting to get a little bored around here but I'm going in for Saturday. Its a brief training course on the new office work computers and I'll get my books and a bite to eat, go home and watch the hockey game.

I've been getting some reading in, with Robin Hobb's . Assassins apprentice. Its a good read so far. I've got the other 2 in the trilogy and another trilogy of the authors at Audrey's. I'll get those Saturday afternoon on my way home.

Other then that today its cold but tomorrow the temperature is supposed to be about +2*C, which for us this time of year almost feels like Spring. Anyway, that's all for now.

Heading into work was just

in my lined gene jacket and a light sweater and the usual plus my running shoes. It was overcast and there was something brewing, that was evident. My shift went well but when I got out, there was about 2 inches of snow and blowing snow all around me. I kept my balance all the to the apartment. When I got back to my apartment to check on the weather it was only -3/-11 but the wind was blowing like 35 kmh.

Crystal Andrus Morissette

My "long weekend" begins now, with a night off. I'm just relaxing today, maybe there's a live stream or something. However I need to get to Audrey's and pick up one of my special order books waiting for me there. Saturday I've got other plans, hopefully shopping for a cell phone. Also there's a critical televised game between the Oilers/Calgary. Sunday its out to a lodge meeting, outside of our regular lodge night, then skimming through the highlights of WWE Survivor series.  Then back to work. Anyway, that's all for now.

I got almost all my things done yesterday as

I met a friend at Northgate got my haircut went to book an appointment for fittings for my compression stockings and then out for some lunch. It was a busy but good three hours. Plus I have an appointment for Wednesday morning for fittings for my compression stockings. The only casualty was not being able to go into Game City on my way out of the mall.

While it wasn't exactly a huge snow storm yesterday, it wasn't unexpected. Accumulation showed this morning to be about 2 inches, if that. It wasn't cold out there either. It was very slushy. Today's weather is expected to get up to plus 4.

And I have my window opened, as well. Its the winds from the south that make the difference.

In closing, Anne is on her way out to work. I get some much needed time here by myself here in the apartment. This week I could be off work for a few days. Plus I have that early morning appointment for fittings. The new project should start this week. I'm hoping for Thursday, so we'll see. Anyway, that's all for now.

We're about to get into another heat wave

but nothing like +30* or anything like that. We've got some +25's, 26's that sort of thing. My birthday week is next week (August 21st) and I'll be 66. And no, I don't feel like💩I'm hoping for some nice weather next week.

Yesterday I went into the General (downtown) Hospital for my appointment. I had very little sleep and I was fasting. I wasn't in a very good mood. I hadn't been in that hospital since 1981when I had a lacerated finger/tendon. I had trouble finding where I needed to be. They had a nice little cafeteria there. Good thing I brought a bit of cash with me. An employee saw me a bit confused, and I said I had a 2pm appointment (Community Care) She was very helpful and I checked in. Sure enough. I had a bit of a wait, to read 3 pages of my book. Somebody took me into a little Doctors office and did a ultra sound scan of some kind. Then a tickle thing with my feet. He seemed pleased with that. The a right toe test and I had some paper work to fill, out. That was it. I went to the cafeteria and got a diet coke and the bus outside to Corona station and home. The whole purpose of the visit was to establish if I had cvi. I did and depending on my income, (excluding pension money of course) I'll be able to get my compression stockings at a discount.

I'm not doing much today but preparing for a possible Live stream Saturday. I'm not sure if I want to get the Nintendo Switch first or a couple VST's. I can always get Switch in October, or black Friday. The VST's I can get them in about ten days. We'll see. Anyway, that's all for now.

My internet has been slow as of late

and at no one with kids still in school for a few more days, should be on it to slow it down. Seems to be ok now though

I haven't been seeping very well over night lately. Its normal for us to be up until 3-4am, weekends even up to 5am. Having 5 hours sleep is normal for me. But the other day, Sunday night-Monday morning, my restless leg syndrome would kick in, I'd get maybe an hour sleep, then get up too pee, That was the cycle  until about 6am. I went to the couch to watch a TCM movie or something. That didn't work. Reading helps me to sleep, so maybe lack of reading over the last few days has been responsible for my recent sleep cycle, because it happened again last night but to a lesser degree. Now add the fact that we're going to be entering a heat wave this week of +28, +30. In May? We don't get weather like this until about July. This will even make it harder to sleep despite our fan and AC, yeesh.

Yesterday I watched a good hockey game between Tampa Bay (Tb)Lightning/Washington Capitals. I'm leaning towards the underdog team, which I feel are the Caps. It was a home game but if the Caps lost we'd be seeing a Vegas?Tb in the finale. Still might work out that way because Wednesday is a game 7 Home game. Good luck with that Washington. But you never know. What I'm excited over is the CFL as we have Winnipeg/Eskimo's pre season game on Sunday. Anyway, that's all for now.

Saturday, January 6, 2018

Folks in most parts along the Eastern

seaboard, Maritimes, New York, Boston Washington and all the rest are in the grip of a massive cold weather front. I heard wind chill reports of -40 in some places, been there done that. They're getting snow in Florida. Meanwhile we're basking in the pleasant temperature of  +4*, it feels like Spring out there. Its a reprieve from last weeks -28/32 wind chill and the das are getting longer. I hope everyone is hunkering down doing the best they can.

Finally I'm back to work on Monday. I've been off work for 6 weeks now. The bills are covered and that's the main thing. I put a couple of jams together on my You Tube channel, watched a lot of hockey, played with some of my recent apps, lots of reading. I'm back this week at least, Monday through Friday. I'll know next week's schedule Friday. If there is one. A photo coming in soon :-)

Today, I'm taking it easy, watching the Oilers in Dallas in about half an hour. At the moment I'm enjoying the old sip of the coffee, and writing this blog. Anyway, that's all for now.

Monday, November 20, 2017

Its a cold November

Monday but at least its sunny and feels like -24 with the wind chill. That's ok because after its starts warming up to single digit numbers.

It was interesting to hear the passing of Charles Manson this last weekend. His passing away is no love lost that's for sure. Even when Manson burst on the scene I was 17. We got the same news about what happened like everyone else did. At that age just recovering from my back operation, in a body cast, most teens of my generation were interested in Woodstock and the Hippy movement. Charles Manson was at the time a peripheral character to what was going on at the time in the broader sense of the term. To me the name Charles Manson barely registered into my daily life back then. I had other fish to fry.

Despite the crappy Oilers and the bad decision making of the Eskimo's in the CFL Western finale, Survivor series made up for it. The trouble (I think) with the Oilers this year they have a target on their backs. What with making it to the 3rd round and nearly to the finale, plus all of the accolades of McDavid, the huge upcoming salaries, yeah I can see why the Oilers would have a target on their jerseys. As for the Eskimo's, we gave up 6 points on field goal attempts due to the wind, and add the lack of ball security (fumbles) and bad decision making by the head coach, is what cost the Esks the game. On the other hand, Survivor series made up for it. AJ Styles and Brock Lesnar, wow. Even the main event was a off the chart wow. Tonight is going to be interesting.

As for today, I had to call in and rebook a Doctors appointment for the 30th and its off to work back home for wrestling. I'm also trying to get Telus to walk me through how to set up my new Nintendo 3ds Xl since they replaced our modem a few months ago. I'll be doing that. Anyway, that's all for now.
