This isn’t breaking

news but it’s all over the blog sphere: George Lucas has sold Lucasfilm to Disney for a huge $4.5B deal. The deal gives Lucas title as “creative consultant.” It means that Lucas is a major Disney shareholder. Disney hinted that more Star Wars movies with Star Wars 7 in 2015 just a few years away. I just hope Doesn’t “dumb down” the movies to a Harry Potter level and make them “family friendly.” I like the level of the last movie and if they keep it like that or even like the last Star Trek  movie, I’d be satisfied with that. Wow, what an announcement. Also Lucas will get 40 million Disney shares, making him the 10th largest shareholder,. Also in the deal is the Indy movies as well. No doubt though Disney will milk the Ewok’s and Jar-jar to death. I wonder what the implications of this deal are what with the NYSE closed yesterday?

I’ve got a full 8 hours ahead of me and 7 tomorrow and lodge night. Anne was saying that Sobey’s has subs a lot cheaper then Subway, so I’m going to go drop my $50 into my Scotia account to by 4 assorted. Bay station, home and have a bite to eat, clean up get ready, head out and go down to the Lodge. I have the key’s so I can get in even before others show up. The only thing I don’t like about being JW is that I’ve got to shell out the cash first out of pocket and then recover my costs from the festive board. I don’t always recover the full amount and I’m trying to save up enough so on Saturday I can make 2 payments at LM. If I have $50 in my pocket tomorrow morning, then I’m heading to my bank first thing in the morning and making that deposit for LM and then off again Saturday after work.

At the moment, it’s -12 partially overcast. It’s wearing boot season again but the Sun is shining nicely through a veil of thin cloud.

For some reason, Firefox won’t let me open a web page this morning. I keep getting a error warning dialogue box. I can hear it cycling through in the background. Anyway, that’s about all for now.

If it hadn’t been

for Anne discovering an entry in my paper diary September 25th 2005 I might not have been bothered to open a blog. I stopped writing in my physical diary September 25th of that week and put my diary in a word processor and began my blog that same week. It began on another company other then Blogger called Zanga, which is defunct. I think I had about maybe 3 blog posts on it before I found Blogger that week. Since then on my website I’ve posted close to 1,700 posts and on blogger maybe about 500 more on Blogger.

At this hour Hurricane Sandy has been downgraded to a tropical storm. A serious storm non the less. I hope my friend Keith is Ok in new Jersey. I can't believe this storm could have wiped out the Atlantic City Boardwalk, wow.

I was doing some more music production and I got this one YouTube video on creating a drum map in Cubase, which got me to get some sound out of Battery 3 in Cubase 6. I’m getting closer but my next piece of hardware is going to be Machine anyway.

This week, its Tuesday for 8 hours, Halloween Wednesday for 8 hours and Thursday for 7 hours and Lodge night and Friday I’ve got to go to my RBC and then take Anne’s cash out to deposit it in my Scotia account for the rent and for my LM payment and I’ll 7.5 hours on the day and Saturday for 6 for a total of 36.7 hours. If I’m up for any bonus money during the week, I’m going to maybe squeeze an extra hour or two in, maybe pull in a 12 hour day just to get a minimum of 37.5 hours. It’s going to be a mild week.

The Eskimos still have a shot at making the playoffs, if they can win in Calgary and or if Hamilton loses in Toronto on Thursday. Our game is on Friday night in Calgary. If we can win then despite what Hamilton does, we have our playoff spot.

Earlier when Anne left to do her banking and stuff, I checked my account from here and I could “track her” from her spending using my Scotia card. I checked about 4:45pm and there was our lunch purchase from Wendy’s just down the street. I got things ready as I knew she was moments away and sure enough she was.

This week is kind of a lame week for shows on Coast. They’re big “Ghost to Ghost” Halloween show is Halloween night, which doesn’t do anything for me. I’m going to read for a bit after I post this and go to bead. Anyway, that’s all I have for now.

Over there at the TWOS is

day 1 of the Star Wars identity exhibit is underway. People have advanced tickets since the initial announcement of the event selling 20,000 tickets so far. That’s like $5M in one day. I’ll probably go in February or something like that. The event is going to be around for a long time and there’s so much there that maybe I might even go back several times.

On my way from LM to Corona station passing behind the 7-11 there, I noticed two fellas in superhero costumes. I think different versions of the “Flash” superhero. Halloween week, got to love it. Then while getting my lasagna treat at Tim’s bout 5:30pm while it was still light out there, I saw a Roman Centurion and a couple of other costumes. I asked if this was about the Oil City Roadhouse annual Halloween event. He confirmed it was. Lots of good energy. I love Halloween weekend.

Warren (a colleague from work) and I are going to an Oil Kings game the last Saturday in November. The Medicine Hat Tigers are in town and I want to not only get an early look at Oiler prospect/goalie Tyler Bunz but also get some Oiler gear at the Oiler store. I think they have windbreakers and or coats there and of course jerseys. They have articles of clothing not available at the retail level.

Kind of a lame show this evening on Coast: tonight's show: “Demonic Beings.” Yawn. I want to catch up on enough sleep and get up about 11am this morning for a very important Esks/Montreal game that has playoff implications. If the Esks win, they’ll be in the playoffs. If they lose, then that’s their season.

In contrast to all of this on my CFL Proline ticket yesterday, I had Winnipeg to beat Hamilton at home. It being the last game at Ivor Wynne stadium. Hamilton and Regina both have plans to build a new stadium. I was kind of hoping that Winnipeg would play spoiler but they lost to Hamilton 18-28. So there goes my ticket. I had Winnipeg/Hamilton, Argo’s/Riders and Edmonton/Montreal. I would have won $158 to pretty well break even. Argos beat out the Riders to 31-26. The good news is on Warren and mine double or nothing game I win $4 (we usually bet $2) and I said maybe we should go 2 more game and that’s Edmonton/Montreal and if he wins he owes me nothing. If I win he owes me $6! The Eskimos haven’t won at McGill since 2007 but we have a couple of heavy hitters back and it’s our season on the line.

At LM yesterday on our way out I got some hands down experience on the Korg M3 and I’m flip flopping with that and Machine. So most likely I’ll get the M3 after I get the monitors. It’s no good without the monitors.

I09 is one of my favorite sites. I was kind of surprised o see this article by George Dvorsky. Apparently Physicists have demonstrated an actual tractor beam in the lab. It seems like we're getting closer to the Star Trek future by leaps and bounds these days, more over here…Anyway, that’s about all for now.

I was in full

sleep mode earlier about 4:30am when Anne screams behind my door waking me up. WTF? She gets upset because when she got Boots from outside, he rushed inside tracking dirt into the apartment. Plus the aftermath and there goes her blood pressure. After about 10 minutes or so of scolding the cat she quits down but that was enough to get me awake. Enough to get me up for an hour. I wasn't very happy. I'm ok now but I could go back to bed for another 4 hours.

But I've got stuff to do for today: I need to get downtown, have a bit of breakfast then get on with my day and after work head down to LM with Tim and make a payment and take a video of him on drums. Hopefully today there won't be anyone occupying the Roland V drum kit and I can shoot this and then head over to Wendys for dinner and then home.

I had a great day on the job yesterday. I ended up with almost $700 on card and about $1800 in sales.

I think I've got Battery 3 working a bit in FL Studio. It's defiantly a routing/Asio issue but I'll figure it out.

Nothing going on Sci Fi this weekend. Last weekend our fan expo and that was the place to be here in Edmonton.

Next week I've got Lodge and including that I have 2 more months of being JW. Thank God! But I'll be able to exhale a huge sign of relief once I'm done with being IPM. Anyway, that's all for now.

My first day getting

back on the job was slow, I got no sales all afternoon. I was then asked to do WR ret. Today was cold grey and in a word, Meh. I felt tired and not with it. Taps were slow to come by but once I got rolling I did great. They had more prizes to give away and the iTouch is still up for grabs for someone to win it between now and the end of the month. I’d love to win it. I’m waiting for some big stuff like the new iPad mini or an iMac or a laptop.

One of my favorite SF authors is Timothy Zhan, writer of the Quadrail series. I’ve read them all “The Domino Pattern.” (book #4) released in 2009. Now book #5 “Judgment at Proteus” is out latter this year. I’m looking forward to it.

I mentioned this elsewhere but yesterday Apple released 2 new products: The Apple 4th Gen iPad and the iPad mini. Now the mini looks interesting and with a price point of $350, looks appealing but I’m in no hurry to go out and buy one any time soon. Same with the 4th Gen iPad, no hurry.

The 82 game deadline is Nov. 2nd. This means that as of today the players have 8 days to accept a deadline by Thursday Nov. 1st. Failing that then the season is officially cancelled. And you know what? I say good riddance!

Today is another working day on the job. Another 8 hours ahead of me but that’s ok. Today’s weather will be very much like yesterdays, cold grey and, meh. Anyway, that’s about all for now.

After I get about 8

hours of sleep over night, I’m heading downtown to my bank to make a deposit to cover for my internet tablet. Then over to LM to pay my bill and then catch the #2 bus by Future shop there heading over to City Centre mall and I’m looking for some Velcro lace shoes one of the guys said he got his at payless and I know there’s a payless shoe store. I used to get them at Zellers but now that chain was bought out by Target. After that some lunch in the food court and then over to Shoppers drug mart to get Anne’s bus tickets and then over to the stationary store to get some pens as we’re short on a few. Then home, hopefully have a nap and then watch Monday night Raw.

As most people here in Canada are aware of the ecoli scandal that seems to show no signs of slowing down. A lot of tainted beef was discarded and destroyed and Daniel Smith (Wild rose) in a Tweet said “what a waste and suggested that it could be cooked and served to the homeless.” WTF? Now I know her heart was in the right place and all but somehow that didn’t sound right. Sparks are going to be flying over that one.

Over the weekend the first “Edmonton Fan expo” (EFE) saw about 12,000 fans! Wow, I’m going to go next year for sure. That’s quite a turn out. I’m thinking that if the organizers of Pure Spec and EFE got together to form something called Edmonton Fan Spec Expo (EFSE) or “Efse” for short. What an event that would be!

Yesterday Anne and I headed out of here and took a walk over the Manning bridge (clear skies and gusty winds) and up over to Smitty’s for a breakfast brunch. That was an expensive breakfast but the extra was her coffee and my diet cola but I got to watch some of the NFL games going on while she had to make a detour to get some dried cat food and joined me a bit later. Breakfast was good but $27 (including tip was pricey. I thought about heading over to Happy Harbor comics (see link on my list of links) but I was getting a bit tired and wanted to head home. I wouldn’t have minded if Anne wasn’t with me. She might have made a scene if I bought something. I can go another day.

All evening I‘ve tried to get Battery 3 going in both Cubase and FL Studio. I got some kits loaded up in Cubase and go sound out of some of the cells but only partially. What‘s going on with this I don’t know if it‘s a Cubase thing or a Battery 3 thing. The above is a tutorial on how Battery 3 is supposed to work.

Hey my bother Jeff is engaged to be married. In his post he said “I‘m engaged.” I knew what he meant but I had to make a reference to Captain Picard of Star Trek. Anyway, that‘s all for now.

The 8am alarm got me

out of bed soar and aching all over. I had my shower and I think I hadn’t even changed my underwear. I got my things packed up ready to have a day but why was it so dark looking outside for daylight? I got my answer after I had packed everything up and locked up and went outside. The weather was rapidly changing for the worse. The winds were gusting and as soon as my bus came by we got a dose of winter. Snow was coming down thick but it got better from the escalator exit upstairs as the snow had stopped.
Tim’s had just put the hash browns in the oven so they wouldn’t have been ready for another 20 minutes but I got the breakfast sausage egg between a biscuit thing a bunch of salt packages and a bottle of diet cola and a double chocolate donut for later.

I actually had a bang up day and watched some football and had the fireside beef/mac/cheese thing. I called Anne at 2:20pm. We’re having trouble with our sink being clogged up. I thought she was going to make a little entrée for me in case I didn’t eat out. I was too soar to do much of anything.

The 2 hours were ok still doing WR and watching the rest of the  Montreal/Riders game. Al’s were leading by 34-28 and the riders could have won it but Montreal prevailed and I won our double or nothing, meaning I don’t owe Warren $4 bucks.

I had a bang up day pulling in something like $870 on card and a $1450 total. More bonus money for another pretty good cheque for next week.

Sunday Anne and I are going out to “Smitty‘s” up over hear on the other side of the Manning and I’m going to check out Happy Harbor comics before they close. Then home to watch any more football. I think there‘s another double header Sunday.

I‘m going to listen to a bit of music, relax and then take the phone into bed and have a nap for about an hour. Anyway, that‘s all for now.

Friday, October 19, 2012

I had a slow afternoon but after 6pm I

changed sources and did a lot better.

I got a great pay cheque because I had full hours and my stat pay and over $150 on bonus money, which will go towards making a payment at LM and my tablet internet plan and still give me a lot left over, very happy.

As we were "watching" the early double header CFL game Bombers/Argo's. I didn't know if I had them on my Proline ticket. Winnipeg were all over the Argo's. When I got home to check my ticket, the Argo's were losing and the finale was 44-32 Bombers. Yikes. Its in the half right now and its 16-10 BC. I picked a tie game for this one.

Saturday is an easy 4 hours in the morning/afternoon and the 3 hour extension and then I'm off for 2 but the boss is pleading for us to do extra hours. Since I'm not watching Raw, I'd like to come in Monday's for an extra 4 hours. I'm not going to mention this until I actually do it.

I really need to subscribe to these things but this weekend (sigh, wish I had the time) Our Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Expo is this weekend at the Edmonton Expo (adjacent to Rexall Place. They've got some great guests this year: Michelle Nichols, Billy Dee Williams, Burt Ward and Lee Majors. Photo Ops are very reasonable at about $50 each. $200 plus the $15 entrance fee. Next Year I'm going to save up for this and subscribe to the newsletter to get updates so I'll no in advance. The show usually alternates between October and April

Yesterday I had a bit of a problem with my iPad's "on" button as it was "sticking." I had to press extra hard to bring the Home screen on. I used a bit of spray from a product by "Monster" to clean the iPad's screen and I sprayed a bit on the "on" button and it works fine now. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Another nice looking day

out there but we're getting some good weather for this time of year. The humidity say around the 60% range makes the difference.

I wanted to go have a bit of a nap there and extend my sleep there a bit but I got up anyway just after 10am.

Not a lot going on right now, this week it's just my commute, work, commute 11:20-12:30-9pm-commute home by about 9:45. it's not rocket science kids. But that's basically my work week except my banking Friday and Saturday. I'll pop in now and then this week but mostly this week, I'll be over on my Blogger blog but my Twitter feed is where all the "action" is. I'll probably keep this site going for another year hard to say.

Other then that, not much else is going on. Anyway, that's about all for now.

We’ve got some very

nice mid October weather out there. It’s about 12:40am and my window is open. Humidity is at 67%, which is why its so mild out there.

I’ve had a great Sunday. I got up about 11am and watched some of the Cowboys/Ravens NFL game. Ravens won but it would have been a Proline tie.

By accident, while being redirected by some hiccup in the Connect 2 Edmonton forum, I stumbled upon another thread about that sometime in the wee hours
By accident, while being redirected by some hiccup in the Connect 2 Edmonton forum, I stumbled upon another thread about that sometime in the wee hours of Friday morning, Sandy Lane strip mall was burnt down. Cause of the fire has yet to be determined. Sandy lane was a small strip mall about 2 blocks from where I lived in the 1980‘s 1990‘s. It was built sometime around the 1960‘s. I have fond memories of gaming at Adventure gaming supplies in the early 1990's. It was at that strip mall I remember calling Helga about Ellen when we tried to go and pick her up at Richard's place that Friday April 25th 1980. The pay phone (long since gone) was on the same property in front of the access road where the ETS bus stop is. Another piece of my past up in smoke.

Most of the day I’ve been on my laptop fooling around with my new program. I’ve tried Studio drummer, Guitar Rig 5 and the Scarbee Bass program.

It was a historic occasion yesterday to see the amazing freefall jump by Felix Baumgartner stepped into the void nearly 128,000 feet (39,000 meters) above southeastern New Mexico Sunday at just after 12 p.m. MT. What an amazing feet.

This afternoon I’m out the door by noon and I’ve got to head over to the RBC do some banking there and then take the train down to Corona and do some banking at Scotia then if the hold on my funds is ok, I run down to LM make a payment and then I’ll take the #2 and maybe get a bite to eat at city Centre mall for some Chinese or something. Anyway, that’s about all for now.

Friday, October 12, 2012

This was composed yesterday but it was too late in the evening

to call this post for Thursday.

Yesterday had been pretty good. We did a campaign I've been wanting to do for awhile now called "The Canadian Taxpayers Federation" (CTF) and I did some taps with a final total of about $1,200 and $225 on card.

In my email I got an Apple update and Apple has redesigned the iTouch with its 5th Gen. It has a 5" screen a lot thinner then the 4th Gen and has the new iOS including a the new i sight 5 MP camera and different colors.Even the software comes with over 200 improvements and the new iTouch also has the new Apple headphones and a matching hand strap. I'm thinking about upgrading but Anne would kill me if I did.
We got a card the other day from the vet clinic at the Pet Smart that put Sparky down. The Doctor there had taken a sudden illness and passed away a few weeks ago. The staff sent a card out to all of his clients giving us the news. They have a replacement vet but the guy there had been at this clinic for years. I thought he was ok but they sure took a lot of money from us over the years.

This week has been very interesting, finally getting some closure on my family, having a couple of great sales days. Finding ourselves nickle and diming it waiting for the GST cheque that finally came. Then hearing the news about our
Veterinarian Doctor passing away. It's been an interesting week.

An interesting story today out of i09 about a Batcave made of 20,000 lego pieces. It was built by Carlyle Livingston II and Wayne Hussey. It took 800 hours to put together. Here's a link to the story .

Anne had called in sick and I new something was up when I didn't see any cards she usually puts in the door for security. She hasn't been feeling well lately. Anyway, that's about all for today. Sorry for any spello's.

We got our first snowfall

We got our first snowfall of autumn just after Thanksgiving weekend but we haven’t got the snow that stuck on the ground yet.

I got a large sale within the first hour and 2 all afternoon but the evening as a bit better and I did taps to help shore up my lousy Card showing. All in all though I had a decent total, which surprised me because usually Wednesday’s aren’t that kind to me. The last hour I was losing energy and I knew it.

So the cargo supply ship launched over the weekend arrived at the space station and brought some experiments as well. Speaking of space news, the Mars rover Curiosity spotted a curious object on the surface of the planet not far away from Curiosity. Many just think that it’s a piece of plastic from the rover itself.

We got our GST cheque today which was a welcome relief as we were scrapping for pennies there for awhile earlier this week. Speaking about the Feds, it was mentioned over the news that the production of our Canadian passports are going to be outsourced to The Netherlands as a cost cutting measure. The NDP asked what’s next our currency? I don’t always agree with the left but in this they make sense.

For hours I was struggling how to open the midi key editor in Cubase 6 and I haven’t found any way how to open it. More then likely it’s something I’ve done wrong or forgot but I opened up a test file in FL Studio and Battery 3 works out fine. Actually better then I even hoped for.

I’ve been piecing more information about my father’s side of the family, my grandfather. His name was James Blaine Shannon born 1897 in Bonham Texas. He married a local woman named Florence at the age of 17 and she gave birth to my Aunt Eve in Bonham in 1919. They were  married in 1920 My grandmother gave birth to my father in El Centro CA 2 years latter. My grandparents divorced a few years after my father was born. My grandfather remarried and in 1931 my grandfather while working for the City of Imperial died in an industrial accident overcome by sewer gas while trying to rescue 2 of his co workers. My step grandmother married again and during lengthy custody battle gained custody of aunt and father and lived in San Diego. It gets a little murky after that but apparently my father married during the war years. He flew bomber aircraft over the Atlantic to get the planes to their destinations. He wasn’t flying bomber missions or anything like that. But what motivated him to move to Canada I have no idea. That’s where it gets murky. I found out that my grandmother got married again and  moved to Vernon BC and died at the age of 44, which is still relatively young. How she died I have no idea but she’s buried in Vernon.

This morning I’m getting my Proline CFL game for week 16. Just 3 games left over until the season is over. I’m not sure about my picks yet. Anyway, that’s about all for now.

I never knew my grand parents

on my fathers side of the family. I met my grand mother on my mothers side numerous times but I never had a chance to talk one on one with her. A few days ago I got this email from somone with my last name. She said my father had the same last name as her husband's but with a Jr at the end. They provided me with some details that more or less confirmed they were doing honest research. My grand fathers name was James Blaine Shannon (JBS) and my grand mother's name was Florence. JBS died in 1931 while trying to save the lives of two of his co workers in a sewer gas industrial accident. Mom told me a bit about this but the story this lady told me kind of supports what mom told me. FLorence died in 1948 (5 years before I was born) and is burried in Vernon BC. I'm trying to get my sisters contact details because she knows more about our family history then I do. I've been out of touch with my sister since just before Anne and I got married.

What's interesting is a photo from "Find a Grave" shows a nice grave marker with not much details but showing the logo of a group called the "Order of Knights of Pythias." This might have meant that her new husband was a member of this order. They were very big in New Westminster back in the late 1800's.

I got more information as well about my grandfather and a photo of him and his wife probably at the time they were married. My aunt Ev was born in Bonham Texas and my father in El Centro. My Grandfather was 34 years old when he died in an industrial accident in Imperial county in 1931.

Well, I'm back to work for a full week this week but at least I have I have my stat pay for Thanksgiving day yesterday. Anyway, that's all for now.

Monday, October 8, 2012

Its been a nice long weekend

but for me, it's just another weekend but one with pay, so I can't complain.

I was able to pick up my Komplete 8 from Native Instruments at LM Saturday and get the fiasco of Saturdays Tim's slomasal straitened up heading in after LM and home for the weekend. I was thinking on my way to Corona from Long, we could stop off at Rexall Drugs over there by Subway but there was 7-11 and I could accomplish the same thing there but I forgot to get my 6/49 ticket and Tim hadn't had enough time to pick his wife up and everything.

Yesterday I spent most of the day with Komplete 8. I played around with Guitar Rig 5 and had a good day off. Today it's CFL football and back at it for a full week for me.

Last night Anne did a rearrange on our bedroom so the stereo next door wouldn't bother us as much. After the Riders/Argo's game its more on Komplete 8 and Anne's doing laundry and I'm settling in to watch Monday night Raw.

That was a lame football game. 36-10 Riders. I was hoping for an Argo's Win.

So lets see Felix Baumgartner is about to make a historic free fall drop from 120,000 feet tomorrow, wow!

Two movies this fall I'm interested in: James Bond "Skyfall" and Bruce Willis "Looper." I think the JB one is out in November but Looper should be in theaters this fall and I also want to see Batman: Dark Knight as well.

Anyway, it's another 3 hour Monday night Raw coming up soon, should be a good one.

I'm having a nice Thanksgiving weekend then in about an hour Monday night Raw. Anyway that's all for now.

Today it’s a short day

by half an hour and I’m walking up to my bank cash my cheque and then double back a block to my wife’s building to use her pass key to get into the lobby and up to her floor and then give her my Scene card and her key back. I might get a bite to eat at the 7-11. A couple of their fast food burgers and a drink, then head home and watch whatever’s left of Smackdown and go to bed.

About 5am just as Anne was settling in for bed I had to know where my JW set of Lodge keys are. I didn’t remember taking them out of my pants pocket. I warn Anne lights are coming on for a minute, don’t panic. “Looking for my keys.” They weren’t in my pants pocket. Did they fall  out and hit the floor in between the cat litter box. She’s getting all upset now because I’m pulling out the cat litter box and I couldn’t find the keys on the floor and her metal Hamster cages (I didn’t know where behind the cat litter and they fell making noise. That’s when her blood pressure went up and got into her yelling voice causing more noise then I ever could. I shut the lights off and with my foot in the dark moved my foot around just under my side of the bed. Would they be on top of the dresser? Relief, found them. Back to bed. I was thinking now is John going to have to change locks and keys now? I’m glad I found them. I went back to bed and tried to get the last 4 hours or so I  had left. A bit of panic in the wee hours.

I’m kind of worried about this ecoli scandal thing now that crept up around the middle of September. It has far reaching ramifications because the plant where the ecoli was from (XL foods Brooks Alberta) helps to supply about a 3rd of Canada’s beef products. The plant is shut down undergoing an investigation but in the meantime the restaurants fast food places, depend on plants like this. Not to mention the truck drivers and workers at the plant. I’m wondering now if I can pick up my Wendy’s baconator on Saturday after I come back from LM.

Hamilton is at Commonwealth playing the Home team and the Esks need a win if they have any chance of making the playoffs. I’m going to pick a Proline tie (Edmonton to win within 3 points) So far this year I haven’t won anything on CFL Proline. This year I’ve won $25 on the NFL and they’re not even at the half way point of their season. Also speaking of sports, Wednesday the NHL went and canceled even more games. The next 2 big event markers for the NHL are the winter heritage classic and the “All star” game. If both sides can’t make an agreement by then that’s it for the season.

There’s nothing going on Sci-fi for me this weekend at all but I think our Pure Speculation is not far away November 16th-18th this year at Grant MacEwan Anyway that‘s all for now.

On the job yesterday

I was lucky to get a $200 sale and on card but for about 4 hours after that, nothing until I got Ret after break and I ended up with about $500 and $325 on card. I had a decent day yesterday for a change.

I’m in for 4 hours this afternoon from 12:30pm until 4:30pm then I’m rushing home and I’ll probably call Neil as soon as I get inside. I’ve got everything completed and done for the festive board tonight so tonight should be ok. Nothing special. I’ve got the bbq report and elections. Should be a good night.

On a sad note, while I didn’t shop there very often, it was sad news learning about the closing of Edmonton’s independent book store Greenwoods books closing. It was not due to Chapters down the street the co owner of Greenwoods had a heart attack and passed away leaving the other owner kind of “up in the air” as her brother was the management part of the store. After 33 years she decided to pack it in. This makes Audrey’s books the only independent bookstore left in Edmonton. Audrey’s opened in 1977, the year before I moved to Edmonton. Sad to see Greenwoods closing it’s doors. It had nothing to do with the economy which is still holding it’s own.

Most strange, yesterday morning I went to check on the CFL Proline posts and the first game is Friday night.

Edmonton/Hamilton and Sports Select the company that publishes Proline hasn’t yet published the CFL games as we’re into week #15. They have to be in for tomorrow, other wise, I’m making a detour down to Rexall and see if  they have them there. Anyway, that’s about all for now.

I got out of bed about 9:30am and put the kettle on and then turned it off feeling I could use another hour of sleep and went back to bed resetting my alarm for 10:45am. This would give me a bit of a power snooze but that’s when Anne began moving around waking me up, foiling that notion. I was a bit upset put the kettle back on and went to shave and shower. I feel a bit better now. Maybe I didn’t need the extra sleep.

We have this little house spider. It’s a brown pudgy thing. I can’t remember what species it is but it catches fruit flies around the house and for the last several days it’s been clinging to our aquarium tank and hasn’t budged in a couple of days. He serves a vital purpose here. He looks either dead or is sleeping. We call him “Inky.” I’ll try and get a photo of him, if not this morning then this evening when I get home:

This photo app takes ten minutes to open a photo. But that brown spot is Inky. He looks almost like a crab spider. Oh it worked faster then I thought. Thanks Blogger

Not much going around here today, it’s an 8 hour day ahead of me. I’m giving Anne some cash to get me a couple of cans of soup for the lodge festive board for tomorrow night and some cookies and buns. She’s going to go out and get that for me. I should have dropped $25 or so into my account yesterday and we could have got a few scene points. Anyway, that’s all for now.

I could go back to bed for another hour but I’m up anyway. I don’t want to be scrambling at the last minute here.

Looks like a overcast day out there not nice, one of those days to stay inside but I’ll be in the office all day anyway. At +5* it’s a bit below average for this time of year.

I’ve also been looking at getting some kind of video screen recorder software. The mother of all of these kind of products is called Camtasia studio but they want about $300 for their package. There are a lot of free ones out there but they attach things like tool bars and crap and add other things as well like price gongs etc. I downloaded one but it was so heavily add supported, I had to uninstall it. There are a few others out there I’m looking at. I tried to even upgrade my free recorder but it’s not working.

Since we got onto the Scotia Scene in August we’ve got 386 points. We got 60 for paying part of our rent yesterday 17 on the bus pass and 10 points for my insulin. We get 173 points just on our rent. That’s 2 free movies right there at the end of the year. We usually go in the summer but if there’s something that looks interesting we’ve been known to go in February if the weather is fair.

I just transferred about $40 from my pp account to my bank as it should take a few days but it saves me a trip into my bank this week.

This week, is a regular work week but I a short pay one because of my Lodge night but I’m going to go in for 4 hours Thursday. Anne’s getting 3 cans of chunky soup and a can of bacon been soup because I have 3 in the cupboard at the Lodge. She’s getting some cookies and buns and that’s the festive board. I’ve got a brief “financial” bbq statement prepared to read out loud.

I’m going to cash in on my free lotto Max ticket today for a free ticket for Friday’s $50M! Plus if they’re posted I’ll get my CFL Proline ticket as well.

And finally, it looks pretty easy to fill out my CPP online. They want me to fill out the form and then submit and then make a printed copy to mail. If I can get it done this week, then I might be able to get my first check in early November. The amount I’d be receiving is about the cost of a Ntendo DS. More or less. Anyway, that’s all for now.

Despite having been woken up to

an annoying stereo behind our bedroom wall where our bass board of our bed is at 9:30 this morning, I had a good day.

We had a real change in the weather as well as earlier this afternoon it was about +20 until the wind picked up.

Also, I found out how to remove photos/video off of my iPad, which gave me an extra 3 Gb of space on my iPad.

After the wind storm above Anne went to get us some Pizza from her staff discount and it was really nice.

I've got a nice bag of "Crispers" chips here for Monday night Raw, which will get underway in about half an hour. That's one of the reasons why I don't like working Monday nights is because Raw now is a 3 hour show and I don't want to get the encore edition at 10pm and be up until 1am watching wrestling all night.

My blood sugar reading is way to high right now sitting at 13.4! Too be fair though, I had just eaten a small pizza and a small piece of cake

This is the last week of standard time as ext weekend we go back to daylight savings. Anyway that's about all I have for now.
