at last. Yesterday it took a good 5 hours to load our stuff and take the rest to the dump/eco station. Then unload to the new place. The Transport guys were great. About an hour later, Telus came by and did their thing. That took about 2 hours. Telus was great. Thanks, Antonio. So now 2 days later, we're unpacking setting things up, etc. Two "casualties:" I had to fork out almost $400. And When Anne brought my computer the monitor display fell out and took a ride down an embankment It's now flickering, so I'll need another monitor. Anyway, that's all for now.

A few loads more before the big one Monday
morning. Our stuff gets unloaded last and the eco station (dump) gets moved out first. That way when the movers return with our stuff they can give us the invoice. We're hauling our computers over on our own. The movers get paid cash. The good news is, the heavy lifting is over for me. It's the unpacking and setting up computers routing ethernet and coax cables, PVR boxes, and terminals. Hopefully, if our isp doesn't bail on us like last time, we should be set up Monday night (fingers crossed)
Canadians are going to the polls, September 20th. At this point, if an election were called today both leading candidates would come out with a minority. The NDP is not even in the running, but a lot can happen in 20 days for them. I think what's going to burn the incumbent is his handling of getting out the 2100 Afghan interpreters and other assets Canada has. Voters might realize that the Taliban moved so fast. The above could burn JT.
The last I heard 12 possibly 14 staff and players of the Edmonton football club (Elks) have been tested for Covid and are in self-isolation. Our covid case numbers have gone way up since the Alberta Government removed all Covid restrictions. July 27th here in Edmonton we had 82 cases in hospital and 21 in the ICU. Now a month later thanks to the unvaccinated and the Delta variant, we're sitting at 336-74. Some of those cases had just one shot. So now some Provinces are working on a vaccine passport. I'm in the process of getting one. The passports are to show local businesses that I have been fully vaccinated. Enter it into their system for next time, good to go. Drive-through is still ok. Meanwhile, the Elks had to forfeit Thursdays Argo's game. That means Toronto gets a free win. Anyway, the next post (hopefully) will be in our new place.

We're almost 70% moved in which
means the movers are here next Monday. By this time next week, we will be in our new place. My main concern is getting our isp installed so by early next week we'll have internet etc.
We're into week 2 of the Federal election campaign. I'm not sure I'm going to get involved in this one because the NDP will just prop up the Liberals with their support in the polls.
Over 11 Edmonton Elk CFL players have contracted Covid, which means they won't play the Argo's tomorrow. Elks forfeit the game, so it's a loss. Anyway, that's about all for now.

We had some issues
with getting our isp on the 11th. They never showed up! After several attempts on the phone, we have everything set up for the 30th. Move-in day. The movers arriving at 9am, and we should have everything inside the new place by the time the isp installer arrives with the updated equipment. We just have small stuff and we're transporting the small stuff over in a shopping cart. Our computers are going over before the move as our isp account will be switched off and on at the new place same day.
Last night I made a Facebook post to the Northside Hub group praying for rain. Since then that post has received 237 likes and hearts (no haters) 87 comments (I replied to most of them) and 4 shares 😮
Canadians are going to the polls on September 20th. Trudeau wants a majority Government. Not on my vote. First of all, it's bad form to hold an election during a pandemic. Trudeau is putting his quest for a majority Government over the health of Canadians. I hope it backfires on him.

While I'm not making this
official, I have left Facebook. I still use the groups and friends function, so I haven't officially closed my account. I'm just not posting on it anymore.
After 21 years for me and 24 years for my wife, as of the end of this month, we will no longer be living at our current residence. We have been planning this for a long time. We have our isp coming in on the 11th to the new location to install the current account for transfer. The movers comming in on the 30th. We've been hauling the smaller stuff over to the new place for over the past few days now. The new place doesn't even use Epcore as its power provider. We're still in the area in a 2 bedroom apartment, with our cats, birds and a smaller fish tank. Our new place is fixing the cement steps leading to our building section today.
Anne's off to do a load of laundry at the new place this afternoon, and hopefully get the ball rolling on our power account and check the mail. I'm going to miss the elevator here. I'll be posting updates at least 2 times a week here. For my friends and colleauges, you can still reach me on Facebook. That's your best point of contact. Anyway, that's all for now.

We're into
August. July was a horrible month. Big changes are happening this month. Stay tuned.
Not much going on. I'm about to drop another video onto my You Tube channel, Jim Shannon on sounds. The other day of nearly a five + year absence, I uploaded a track to Sound Cloud but my isp is giving me some grief. Most likely I can access it on my iPad.
This week The Edmonton Elks are back. There is no training camp. 14 games The Grey Cup will be December 14th. Usually the Grey Cup is in November. Still not working but that's because I'm in between projects. I'm hoping to have August off. Anyway, that's all for now.
