This post is a bit of an odds n ends post

as this weekend is has a bit of this and that. I'm not spending any money. Anyday I'm not spending money is a good day. Unless I'm paying bills. Or a birthday treat for myself. Or lodge/chapter dues. Thanks to a certain party, I'll have that covered.

John Lennon reported seeing a UFO from his New York balcony (1974), and Mars moved closest to the Earth since the 10th century, a mere 34.6 million miles away (1924). Perusing the record book for this date, Sylvia Brett, 80 years old, successfully parachuted ('86), Marie Ashton played the piano non-stop for 133 hours ('58), and the world's' largest frog was caught (7.28 lbs, Equatorial Guinea, 1960). Link from Coast to Coast.

Not a lot going on this week. No birthdays, no outings, I have a project with my iPhone phone 11 as a webcam. The phone has 64Gb memory. I found Camo Studio last year but the cell phone I bought this year. Camo is a free service that aids in setting up a cell phone as a webcam. I want to use it with OBS and DuWan, my iPad screen sharing app. No watermarks on both apps. All using that and my wireless mic also connected to OBS. We'll see how it goes. Anyway, that's all for now.

On August 25th

according to the note on our appartment door yesterday, Canada post will be doing some mod work in the mail room. This will be until just after the labour day weekend. The office will be setting up a table in the lobby for residents to pick up mail from 1:30-2:30pm, weekdays. We mostly get junk mail anyway.

Anne accidently bought a movie last night. We would normally just rent a movie. This was from Telus, not Netflik. So before Anne headed out the door to get our stuff (birthday take out treat for me etc) at Bonnie Doon Mall she had customer service on the line. Anne requested a call back as she got ready to head out the door. I was left behind to take the call. We wanted to request the charges be reversed, which I was able to talk with the rep on the phone about. "Just go by our history, we never order moves." After a pause the rep said that this would be a one time thing and the charges would be reversed ~ 3 days after the next billing dat. I thanked the rep and ended the call. Anyway, that's all for now.

Yesterday was my 73rd

birthday. Wow. 18 family; friends, colleauges, Fraternal brothers & companions. Others as well in TC chat group as well. Thanks to all. Anne bought me this nice chocolate cake with a 73 decoration on it and a scatch and win ticket pack. I didn't win anything on that but I sure won where it counts with many visitors stopping by.

The good times just didn't end with yesterday: Tonight, I'm watching some Smackdown and CFL football. Elks in Ottawa. Look out for that train wreck.. If Elks win in Ottawa, that would be the icing on the cake.

I've been trying different methoods on how to use my Cell phone as a webcam. I thought i would need to have my Rogers iPhone, on the same network as my wifi. Jade Starr did a show on this app called Camo studio. At first it didn't work for me. I followed another video and tried again. Successs! I even have it worked in OBS but I haven't got the audio portion of it worked out yet. My project for the weekend. Anyway, that's all for now.

Just returned from clearing

my mail. Management here doesn't like to have mail left in the mail slot for more then a week. I usually like to clear it out every 2 days. Mail is on the main floor. I thought I'd go outside and get some air. Someone said hello from somewhere. Oh a resident enjoying a smoke. Friendly guy. Jim to Don. We shook hands. We had a nice chat as there were thunder clouds and lightning flashes. My mail slot was empty and I got 1,000 steps so far on the day.

Happy birthday to H.P. Lovecraft, the brilliant writer of horror, fantasy, and science-fiction, which was known back in his day as simply "weird fiction." Born in 1890, he introduced the Cthulhu Mythos, in which characters had encounters with powerful and horrendous prehistoric beings, as well as the Necronomicon, a fictional grimoire of magical and forbidden lore.

While watching video shorts on Facebook, I came across a video of "Supertramp." Goodbye Stranger.. That song suddenly evoked a memory. I was working at a retail shoe store as a stock boy. 1979. I was 26 years old. I remember the manager saying to a few of us while things were slow, how he was going to see Supertramp at the Coliseum. August 7 or 8th. The radio was on in the background playing that song. The manager said to me: "You like these guys don't you Jim?" he said playing an air piano. I cant recall my response That was August 1979. I was dating Ellen at the time. I hadn't seen her since 2005 and that was in passing. She's still in the city. I really miss her. I think of her often Anyway, that's all for now.

What's next in my

Masonic Journey? Will I stay the course and

work with just my craft Lodge and Royal Arch? That's me September 2024. I thouught about joining Cryptic Rite which is right after where I am now, Health wize, I don't think I could take the next 3 degrees. I'm looking at Scottish Rite Edmonton Valley. Specifically The Lodge of Pefection. Less demands on my health. I'd like to start this journey in February.

On August 19, 1960, the Soviet Union launched the satellite Sputnik 5 into Earth orbit, with 2 dogs 40 mice, 2 rats, and a variety of plants. They became the first living organisms to safely return from space.

Anne is taking Skippy into the vet soon for her monthly arthritis shot. One of my colleagues had her cat since a kitten die on her Monday. My wife I feel so bad for Frances. She's a good friend of the family. Anyway, that's all for now.

I usually go

to bed about 4am. (pardon any spelos) When I did my left leg began to throb. We had the AC and the fan on. I took a melatonin pill, but an hour later I couldn't sleep. My leg was still in agony. I might have pulled a mussel. I took a pain killer after that, still awake. I put my compression stockings back on and Anne turned the AC off. About 6:30am I felt better and passed out. I woke up at ~ noon. I think I got about 5 hours of sleep over all. I felt no pain at all, yesterday when I woke up, onward.

On today's date in 1868, French astronomer Pierre Jules Cesar Janssen spotted an unknown element in the spectrum of the sun, during a solar eclipse. The element is now known as helium

Friday night our CFL Elks are brining their 3-6 record to Regina. The Riders have an 8-1 record. and are on a 4 game winning streek to our 2 game winning streek. Odds favour the Riders t0 Win, but you never know. Anyway, that's all for now. .

I pulled the trigger

as the kids say and I bought the Loopy pro version 2 update. Withh the use of midi, it makes the app the app right up there with groove Rider 2, and Drambo. I'll be uploading a video for my You tube channel on this topic in a couple of weeks.

From August 16th on Coast to Cost: On this date in 1829, the conjoined twins, Chang & Eng, arrived in America from Siam to embark on their exhibition tour. Their condition was the source of the phrase "Siamese twins." On August 16,

Since last Monday just after the Edmonton folk fest, I've been having vision issues. Mostly blurred vision brought on by Dry eyes. A few episodes of eye drops latter and my vision is almost 90% restored. Anne suggests  the drops go in just before bed. Sorry for any typos. Anyway, that's all for now.

Last night we went yo

Capilino mall Walmart. Our bus ride took longer the normal due to all the side walk renwal construction.. I've never been in this Walmart location before. Anne left me behind to gaurd our carts to travel on a store scooter to get something. I got the scooter when she returned and followed her as we did our shopping and keeping track of the Argo's/Elks game. My sole reason for going was to get a pair of reading glasses to measure against my iPad screen. We got the highest strength one possible. We bought them did some more shopping. Here's Jimmy wheeling in and out around store isles, having a great time

We arrived home, just in time to watch the closing  minutes of the 4th quarter. Anne was putting our groceries away. Argo's 20 Elks 28.  Argo's were 3rd and 10 with under a miniute to play. Argo's QB through a desparate pass to keep the drive alive but turned the drive over on downs. Elks football. The ran the clock down in Victory formatiom for the 20-28 win.

My sister had sent me a message in chat and sent me an etransfer. Early birthday present. What a blessing. Maybe its because i'm the big brother, I'm poor and old and all crippled up. I'm going to get those headphones from Long & McQuade next week. That's the game plan anyway. That's all for now.

Yesterday, even with my

compromised vision, even the crosswalk symbold would become distorted. Once outside, it wasm't as bad as I thought. My #524 bus arrived on time. I connected with the Valley line LRT and arrived at Corona station only to find the upper to street escalator was under maintenance, and the elevator was out of order. I had to, cane in hand walk 3 flights of stairs to get topside I ordered my breakfast at ~ 11am and left for the General hospital at noon.

I did my busiess there and out at 1pm. The AADL (Alberta Aids to daily living) authorized my compression stockings. Marko (the guy doing the evaluation) He said the form went to the vender. Shoud be in their hands this morning. I walked back to Tims to meet up with Anne @ Corona Tim's arriiving @ ~ 2pm. She ordered a srink to go. She had her cart with her. We took the train to the University, as our destination was Royal Pizza restaurant. Most other franchise of that name is just a store front for ordering piiza etc for home delivery. We've been here many times before. We boared the #4 bus to Calgary Trail. It was a substantial walk there

We ordered. I needded a bathroom, and when I returned Anne had left to go to No frills in the same strip mall. Our order arrived as she returned. It was a nice outing. W took the #4 bus to Rickies on98th street and White ave and transfered to the #501 for home.

The big story yesterday, was i ended up with 12, 402 steps😲or 8.53k. 3k /day is about my average, and that's a good day. Sorry for the typos. Heavy eye floaters causing some blurred vision lately. Anyway, that's all for now.

Monday, August 11, 2025

I slept in latter then

usual this morning and I woke up to blurred vision. More so then normal.. There's a proceedure called Yag lazer Vitreolysis (YLV). I had to use a Yag laser before about 2004 to clear up a posterior capsular haze (cataracts returning). The caveat is Alberta seniors might not cover it because they would deam it as minor surgery. What?

On today's date in 1934, the first federal prisoners arrived at Alcatraz, the island prison in San Francisco Bay. Though closed in 1963, the prison is said to be haunted to this day by ghostly presences. Anyway, that's all today.

Yesterday our Amazon order

arrived about 5:15pm. Everything was in order. I couldn't use my iPhone, as a webcam because the iPhone is on a different network. I later discovered that I could use it still in say OBS as a separate profile with a separate network.

The Edmonton Fringe Festival is happening August 14th to the 24th. One of my favourite festivals - check out local plays, dramas, comedies, etc. There’s even an improv. event featuring Colin Mochrie! You can visit Old Strathcona to take it in the sights and sounds. Some performances are free, but others will require a ticket purchase. More details on the festival and performances are on this website.

This week I'm off for my biennial AADL evaluation at the General hospital. They should the results of my ABI scan from last month. After that, Anne want's to go to the iHope. She likes iHope so that's going to be good. Anyway, that's all for now.

Friday, August 8, 2025

A revised

update on our Amazon order is now Sunday. Which is great.

Folk fest weekend is underway underway. Our residence is about 2 blocks away off Connors Road.

It's been a steady staple in Edmonton but was suspended during Covid a few years ago but back in fine form. The Cary West festival is also happening this weekend. We had a nice day of rain, so its a good weekend of outdoor festivals.

Anne did a bottle run earlier and brought me back an A&W burger and fries, and a bucket of KFC. Having a good time today. Anyway, that's all for now.

My employer's tech contractor

went to work optimizing my work laptop. They do this once a month. For this we get a small stippend several times a year for monitoring the setup process.

Anne and I made a combined Amazon order. I'm getting a lightning in USB A out to computer twin pack 6 foot cable. Also is a monitor iPhone/webcam holder. Hopefully this will work. I want to turn my iPhone into a webcam. Anne ordered a hand held electric fan. I like this because its magnetic, and the cell phone can slide right up to the edge of the monitor. The mount can even tilt over the monitor. Pretty cool huh? Anyway, that's all for now,

Tueesday was nice

easy and quiet.

On August 5, 1989 the largest game of Musical Chairs took place in China with a whopping 8,238 participants at the Anglo-Chinese School in Singapore. Three and a half hours later, the game ended with the lucky 15-year-old winner Xu Chong Wei on the last precious chair.

Anne is setting my alarm for me for 9am. The job want's me to power up my work laptop to do some routine monthly maintenance. I don't need to do anything but to power it on. Anyway, that's all for now.

If I read a fiction book

non stop, I can get it read in a few months, probably shorter if I use audiable books. I'm a slow reader. I'm considering an audiable book service. Try an audio book. This last book I read I began January 4th of this year. I finished it last night. I moved house in March, the job appointments, lodge. All kinds of stuff. Audible lets me join for free, cancel anytime and i get one book I can keep for free. I've never lisened to an audiobook before. I'll try it out. it wont cost me anything. I'd keep these audio books on my iPod. There are a bunch of audio book platforms. I'll be investigating all of them.

This was yesterday but worth mentioning: First observed on August 4, 1181, Chinese and Japanese astronomers recorded a supernova in the constellation Cassiopeia. The phenomenon was visible in the night sky for around six. months.

Not much going on this week. We have no outings. I think I'll go down to the coffee club Wednesday morning for a coffee and muffin I'm usually awake by 9am anyway, that's all for now.

Summerslam 2025

Was awesome On the scale from 1-5, I'd rate this a 5. This event was full of surprises. The gate attendance was 113,722 in 2 days. Some of those tickets right up close like near the ring we're $1,400 USD. If you haCyour seats for both days, well do the math😀

The only lame match was the steel cage match with Solo and Fatu. Both days had jaw dropping WTF moments. The CM Punk match ending came out of nowhere. I was certain that AJ Styles would win over Dirt Dim. Dirty Dom, was brilliant. So much fun and Anne made a great brunch as well.

I'm not one for champagne: The champagne cork popping record was set by Gary P. Mahan on this date in 1975, popping the cork 103 feet.  I wonder if he ever caught the corck.

I got noghing goind on this week and the 3 day heat wave we've been having here in Edmonton is over. Back to normal temperatures +20-+23°C that type thing. Anyway, that's all for now.

Sunday, August 3, 2025

Anne made me a burger and fries

for dinner. We watched the news and "The Twilght zone." It was really good. No spoiler alert. This was

a great episode. We didn't recognize any acters that went on to be big name stars like Agness Moorehead and or William Shatner.

Today it's Summerslam Sunday. The attendance for the show yesterday was 53,000. There were a few surprises. I had to go back to chatch the highlights. Looking forward todays show.

My residence is holding a shuffle board tournament. From what I gather there are already ~ 20 names on the sign up sheet. Also this month TBA the outing is Parkland pioneer museum. Anway, that's all for now.

Last night's Hamilton

Elks game was good up until the last 2 minutes. 28-24. Elks recievers were awesome all game. Then, at the last minute mark Elks got the ball! We got this. With this play it moves Elks to tie for overtime. The receiver was the end zone and the ball was descending into his hands and it bounced out! Our quarter back couldn't believe it. The fan base were stunned. Elks are now 1-6! This team can somehow always find ways to lose.

Wild Bill Hickok was killed in a poker game holding a pair of aces and a pair of eights, which became known as a "Dead Man's Hand" (1876).

Because of that, I missed about 80% of Summerslam Saturday. I caught the last 3 matches and did a rewind for the rest. Summerslam Sunday is the main event with Cena/Cody Rhodes. Anyway, that's all for now.

Saturday, August 2, 2025

Friday I went out to

Bonnie Doon Mall specifically to Rogers to pay my cell phone. I'm thinking of a plan around October. $50 including 128gb phone. I'm not sure about the phone part though. After Rogers I wanted to go to the Dollarama but I didn't know where sprcifcally it was located. It was at the other end of the mall. I just needed some sticky notes and white out. But I wanted to check out the mall anyway. Last time (before we moved into the area) I was there was in the 80s. I was waiting a long time for my #524 home. I called 311 on my cell and the bus was an 45 minutes away. I took the LRT home. That #524 is once an hour. I should have to off by Stitches and did Rogers last. I could have made my trip Monday but it's a municiple non stat holiday and bus hours could vary. Saturday is Part 1 of Summerslam and the Elks game.

I sat on the edge of the flower plant, then headed East to the train and home. Anyhow that's all for now.

Friday, August 1, 2025

Last night was pub night

in the main lounge. Pop a $1 beer $5. Anne was passing by the greeter by the door. The greeter invited her inside but Anne declined because she had her groceries in tow. At a glance there looked like 150 people there Anne said. There's always something going on here. Even afternoon tea this Saturday but that's competing with Summerslam and the Elks game.

On this date in 1930, the radio mystery program The Shadow aired for the first time. On July 31, 1954, an official announcement was made by researchers that Los Angeles smog was caused by the chemical reaction of sunlight on auto and industrial emissions. And on this day in 1964, the first close-up photographs of the moon were sent back to Earth by Ranger 7. Anyway, that's all for now.

Yesterday I woke up to blurred vision. Even worse then before. Anne suggested it's eye strain. I dont see it being much more then that. When I was at the Edmonton eye clinic last month, they tested for Glucoma, no diabetic damage to the eyes. They even gave me an OCT scan, and upon leaving they gave my vision a clean bill of health. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, July 31, 2025

At first I thought

Putin is striking us with cruise missiles. Better ask Google, WTF is going on over the skies of Edmonton today. No cruise missiles , just the good ol' Canadian Snowbirds putting on an air show.

What a relief. I don't thinkeven Putin is that crazy.

Lately after I wake up in the morning, I've been experiencing a sharp pain in my left eye. My vision got a clean bill of health from the Edmonton eye clinic. No Glucoma. The OCT scan came back negative. Google suggests this could be eye strain, nothing more.

This weekend is WWE Summerslam Weekend. It starts 1pm Saturday, Sunday. Add to that, Hamilton Tiger Cats (CFL) plays Elks here at Commonwealth@1pm. I'll be bouncing back and fourth between wrestling and football. Sounds like a good time. Anyway, that's all for now.

Wednesday, July 30, 2025

Anyway, I got us a membership card

to the community league. I'm interested in their crib nite for cribbage. I love playing crib. I wish there was an organized seniors crib or and chess groups here. I'd like that.

There was one person in the main floor lounge when I went to the community league meeting. She said her name was Dee. I said I had enough on my plate between lodge etc. She held out her hand and she was wearing a Masonic. Ring. She told me her husband that passed a few months ago was a Freemason and she was in the womans arm of Freemasonry. She had some friends of hers she wanted to sit with and excused herself. I later learned of the "Hadaf women's Masonic group" refers to the Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons (HFAF), which is a women-only Masonic organization. It's also known as Freemasonry for Women. HFAF was founded in 1913 and has a network of lodges in the UK, Romania, Spain, Gibraltar, India, and the US. HFAF focuses on friendship, inspiration, and empowerment for women through Masonic principles and practices. It's not part of the United Grand Lodge of England. There are several HFAF bodies here in Canada but nothing in Western Canada. Interesting.

Happy Birthday, NASA! In response to the Soviet's 1957 launch of Sputnik, the US Congress passed legislation on this date in 1958 to establish a civilian agency coordinating America's space exploration.

On July 29, 1947, a gas leak explosion in a beauty parlor caused the death of 10 women in Harrisonburg, VA. Anyway that's all for now.

Tuesday, July 29, 2025

I got all my meds

for the next 3 months. $95. Good thing I had some cash saved. I don't mind getting them at the Shoppers Drug Mart in Clareview. I have 5 meds Anne is picking up for me.

Today, @ 2pm the local Community leage is in the main floor lounge to give a talk about what services they provide and they will be giving out free memberships. I'm going to get one for both Anne and myself. Anne says if they have to have her there to get one, I'll go upstairs to get her. We're hopng they have other programs this place can't cover. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Monday, July 28, 2025

So now, I have my Fitbit

app are all synched up with my iPad pro and my iPhone 11 to my Versa 3 watch. However, my iPhone step counter is not lined up with my watch.

Lizanne Wilmot climbed her Victorian-style bicycle in Burnie, Tasmania, and broke the Guinness World Records for the fastest speed on a penny farthing (female) and fastest 1 kilometer on a penny farthing (female). Wilmot rode the 1 kilometer (. 62 mile) distance in a time of 52.75 seconds.

We've got a couple of warm days this week but nothing to be concerned of so far its been a nice summer. Lots of rain. Anyway, that's all for now.

Sunday, July 27, 2025

Not a lot going on right

now. Anne is about to head out to No Frills Saturday night), get some milk, and a Lotto Max (extra) for me and some cash back including 5 toonies so I can go to the "coffee club" during the week. $2 gets a coffee and a donut/muffin, and mingle with the other seniors. As a resident here, one needs to be carefull what one says because there is a lot of gossip going around. Us old people you know😎Not me. I don't participate in gosip. I don't really want to make friends around here because as soon as you meet and get to know somebody, they die off. Nature of the beast as it were. We had a yard sale but I got caught up in other things.

On this date in 1931, farmers in the American Midwest saw their crops destroyed by a massive swarm of grasshoppers. The insect collective was so big that it allegedly blocked out the sun and devoured entire fields of crops. In a related incident, in Saint Albert has a grasshopper infestation. You can read about it here.

Speaking about the Lotto Max ticket, when at Capital Place, we never won anything more then $10 bucks at a time oor a free ticket to play again.. Now that we're in a seniors residents, I doubt that will change. Not that I'd make announcement about it though. Anyway, that's all for now.

About 1:30 this morning we had

an impressive light show. Lots of thunder lightning and rain. It got so bad our power was shut off for a few minutes before it was restored. It was a brief blackout. Previous to that yesterday afternoon a woman in the Callingwood area got struck by lightning. She's recovering in the hospital. I haven't heard of any serious issues around the city and area.

There could be more details during city news later.

Last night the Elks were at Mosiac Stadium playing the 6-1 Riders in Saskatchewan. For a bit the score was tied at 1 for almost the first quarter. Then we pulled ahead 4-1 and the 2nd quarter it was 10-4 Riders into the half. It was 24-4 Riders at the end of the 3rd Quarter. I said "screw this," and went onto the computer and followed the game in another tab. In the 4th Quarter we scored 2 majors. 14 points. We got a game I can watch. It was 18-21 with just under 2 minutes to spare. The Riders sacked Fajaro (qb) twice in the 4th Q as the Home team just ate up the clock for the win. Close but no cigar. Anyway, that's all for now.

If you have been following my Facebook

page you might have noticed I'm a wrestling fan. It was sad news hearing about the death of Hulk Hogan. I grew up watching wresting at 18 years old. In 1971, BC (BCTV) TV Studios in Burnaby was indeed the production location for the wrestling show, NWA All-Star Wrestling. Ron Morrier was the original host of the show, which began airing in 1962 and continued until 1989. The show was a popular fixture in Canadian television, showcasing various wrestling personalities and matches. The studio was lucky if they had 100 people watching. The shows were like Cad $2. Hulk Hogan to the best of my knowledge never wrestled for NWA He did, however, wrestle in Canada for promotions like Maple Leaf Wrestling and Stampede Wrestling, which were affiliated with the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). While he wasn't part of NWA All-Star Wrestling specifically, he did compete in other NWA territories in Canada. I never noticed Hulk Hogan until WWE.

I seem to vaugly remember this as this was the yar after Black Friday here in Edmonton. From Coast to Coast: The largest ice cream sundae in the Milky Way weighed in at 54,914 lbs (9,688 in syrup) at Edmonton, Canada (1988).

Female pilot Joann Osterud set the inverted flight record on this date with an upside-down flight of 4 hours and 38 minutes (1991). Hopefully this link works.

I usually create these posts the day before and publish them after midnight the next day. Thursday, I'm just chillin and relaxing. Not much going on.

It's 1:30am here Friday. Huge thunder. lighning. Lots of rainAnyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, July 24, 2025

Yesterday I got 3

nuisance calls, then the Telus installer calls, saying his ETA is ~ 10 miniutes. Then the fire alarm drill goes off for the whole building. This is the annual practice drill the office mentioned when we signed our lease. Perfect timeing as we're expecting Telus. I thought this was going to be like Wyndham alarm goes off on a whim 2.0. I'm following Anne out the side exit to the front and dozens of seniors were. No fire trucks stand by ambulances, nothig. Office staff were taking names against suites. Later Anne said the checking of suites against the list were because for those not participating, they'd get a note under the door.

Telus finally showed up. The gave us a new PVR and Anne was able to keep her recorded shows etc. Also we had the splitter connecter in the wrong outlet. We got that working now.

Also, we had the dual phone splitter in the wrong outlet. Every time when we recieved an incoming call after we pick up my TV show gets dissconnected for about 10 minutes. The work around would be to scroll to find an active channel Get that then go back to my show. Thank God I don't need to do that anymore.

Also, when Telus was here he had to go to the truck to get something. He used the intercom (now working) It says Providers name. Press 6 on the phone, lets them in. Cool. The other place would have charged us a monthly fee. Anyway, that's all for now.

Telus never showed up and the worst is

they never followed up to rebook the appointment. No email, nothing. We had to do it ourselves. So we have them between 1-3 tomorrow. I hope.

From Coast to Coast: The Reverend William Archibald Spooner was born on today's date in 1844. The lecturer became known for what are now called 'spoonerisms,' slips of the tongue where the consonants of words are reversed. One of his flubs was issued as he officiated at a wedding: "Son, it is now kisstomary to cuss the bride."

Infill housing is a hot topic in here. Redidents don't like it because the units are too tall and there could be 8 families in one unit. Critics don't like infill housing because the units are not in character with the neiborhood. Where are 8 families supposed to park vehicals? Also, to
many people in the neiborhood can cause infrustructure integraty and over crowding. So City council has proposed 6 families and reduced the height of infill housing units. I agree Edmonton needs to build up but not in residential established neiborhoods. We have (as of this writing) lots of locations in the downtown core, that have been empty lots for decades. The Arlington location has been empty for years. City council is supposed to revist the infill housing situation before the municiple election. Ooops. video wont play. Anyway, that's all for now.

Today we're having a service call from our Internet Service Provider. Anne's having trouble with our PVR as it won't record my wifes shows. Hopefuly we'll get this resolved today and an issue with our phone. Anway, that's all for now.

I've been having some issues

with my Steam game account. Sometime in 2020 as my then computer hard drive was running on fumes (space wise) I was purging this computer by megabytes. I bought a 2Tb m.2 ssd back in 2022 and upgraded the RAM. Fast forward to present day and ffter a bit of fiddling this afternoon, Steam is back up and running smoothly. I want to start playing some Indy games and streaming them on my gaming channel. Copyrite claim not withstanding of course.

For some reason I thought the Elks played today but the game is this Friday in Saskatchewan.

I'm getting a crash course in Hermes Trismegistus. It's very interesting stuff. The Hermetica was before the Bible or Quran. Of course since the Quran came later then even Constantine. Anyway, that's all for now

Tomorrow at 5pm 😀

The 1-4 Edmonton Elks will host BC lions at Commonwealth. Last year the Elks record was 4-14. Not good. Hopefully we can do better this year. The game starts at 5pm.

This came across my feed recently: In 1994, Susan Williams set a Guinness World Record for bubblegum-blowing with a 23 in-wide (58 cm) bubble. Susan had tricks and tips to blowing bubbles as big as she did, called the "Susan "Mont-Gum-ery" Williams technique, which she would say proudly before blowing her world record bubbles.🤔hmm.

I haven't been posting anything on my YouTube channel in awhile. It's not due to inspiration, but I'm just taking the summer off.

Plus getting older I don't have the energy like I used to have. The Elgato Green screen I bought last September hasn't even been used. I'll get to it eventually. Anyway, that's all for now.

After the Star Ocean

game was moved to a folder in what I thought was the proper folder (snes). 💭I better make sure. After a brief online search. Nope, it's Play station 2. Then I watched a video on how to use Retro bat. Something about BIOS files. I followed as best I could. I need to watch another video.

It's ~ 2:15pm as I write this and we're getting a nice summer rain in July.

Last year we had 8 days +30° or more. There's still lots of July left so when we get days like this, it's a blessing

A few days ago it was "World emoji day. Why is there an emoji for July 17? Because that's the date the calendar emoji shows. Originally, only Apple's calendar emoji displayed July 17, which can be traced back to the day in 2002 when Apple introduced its desktop calendar app. Anyway, that's all for now

Last week I had made

contact with the Scotish Rite Edmonton Valley. This is easier for me to do mainly because I don't think I can do elaborate physical degrees anymore. But this I can do. At first I told my contact I'd like to wait for a bit  for personal reasons, but I'll be contacting my contact around November. Also, I don't need to join a Canadian Rite body to become a member of SR.

This was my second main concern. I'll be doing part one, etc. One at a time.

I've seen some game play on You Tube and the story looks engaging .

I'd like to start with the first game but there doesn't seem to be any game play.

July 17, 1933, pilot Douglas "Wrong Way" Corrigan took off on a flight from New York to California, but ended up flying overseas to Ireland, due to what he claimed was a navigational error.

I had a nice relaxing day today. I didn't go out anywhere and or spend any money on an app. Anyway, that's all for now.

We went out to Yang Ming

Yesterday. It was a Chinese food buffet by Abbottsfield Mall. Anne wanted to take the scenic route. I don't hate food but I don't order take out as well, but Anne wanted to try it. I liked the chicken balls, bornless por, white rice. Anne had to get me a plate as we for got yhe walker. Yang Mings has this

serving robot on wheels. It just came back from singing "happy birthday" to some people.

We had a mix of different flavoured Ice cream. I sampled some of Anne's Gree tea and buble gum ice cream. It was really good. This will probably be a once a year outing for us. It was $31 a plate. The experience was good, food kind of meh. There were a lot of people there. Place is well managed it seems. Next time I'll bring my walker. Anyway, that's all for now.

Tuesday morning I answered an in

comming call. I answered. "Hello?" Nothing.. I hung up. Ok. I get another call a few minutes later. "Hello? Who is this?" The voice said, "I'm your grand daughter." I knew it was a scam. "Nice try, scammer. I don't have a Grand daughter." I hung up. I should have asked the scammer: "Do you know my name?" Something to that affect. I went to my television and looked for caller history, it read "Private."  Yeah no kidding. I could have had fun with the call but the scamer knows they are messing with the wrong guy.

About 1pm the AC installer installed our AC in our bedroom window. We have our window screens on the inside keeping bugs etc out.. Not that we get that many hot days. This is good for me. I don't like warm weather

I thrive in +14°-+24°in that range area. That works for me, all year around.

Just before we moved in here I contacted the agency that workd with the Alberta Government about my compression stockings. They said I would need to go in for another medical assesment. They do this every 2 years, to see if my condition improved. They said that it would take 4-6 months before they can set up a time for me. They called this afternoon (yesterday). So I booked it for August 14th 1pm. I recorded it in my callendar.. If all goes well these patched up stockings I've been using for the last year, will be history and I could get a new pair end of next month, instead End of April 2026. Anyway, that's all for now.

I'm having a great night

Just mucking about at home. I want to get back to work asap, and hopefully, even if it's for one project, I'd be ok awith that.

The Icarus job is moving along nicely. Book 4 is: "The Icarus Changeling." Under $8.25. I'm tempted.

The AC installer is going to be here between noon and 4pm. Hopefully we can get that sorted out. We could be in for some more +30° days and more coming up. Not sure yet. Anyway, that's all for now.

Calgary Stampeders were

@Mosiac Stadium playing the Riders. Stamps 24-10 puts Calgary first in the West. lts see how the Elks do tomorrow. That game was supposed to be played Friday night but forest fire smoke caused the game to be delayed unil Saturday. As for the Elks, they host BC Lions Sunday 5pm. I'll be watching that one.

K-Days 2025 is introducing a variety of bold and unusual food options, including sweet and savory combinations and global fusion dishes. Expect to see items like pickle-dusted mini doughnuts, ramen noodle burritos, and cowboy candy mango soft serve on the menu, alongside more familiar favorites with unexpected twists. Too weird for me.

I'm not having much success installing Onion OS on my mii yoo mini plus. I'm going to try and get the sandisk 128Gb Ultra micro sd card. If that doesn't work, I don't know. Anyway, that's all for now.

Friday, July 11, 2025

We finalley got the

notice for the AC work order. Maintenance will be paying us a visit to install the AC, Tuesday. Good stuff.

Happy Birthday, Nikola Tesla -- the pioneering inventor, electrical engineer, and scientist was born 169 years ago, during a fierce lightning storm in what is now Croatia. Grok that Leon!

Having our CA installed Tuesday means maybe Anne and I can go out for our monthly outing Wednesday. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, July 10, 2025

Every guide I've seen on You

Tube always makes a claim for using a branded micro sd card when installing Onion OS for my MiiYoo mini+. The sd card I have even though the card has been formated, and the Onion OS files are on the card, my device fails to read them. I know my sd card is properly formated so the only thing is left is, you guessed it: A branded micro sd card. Non Prime Amazon has them for $22 for a 128Gb San disk as I've seen every guide on You Tube use them. However, that order won't be going out until the end of the month.

Our AC instalation work order has yet to be completed. This was last Thursday. We don't expect this to be handled until month end the way things are going. Anyway, that's all for now.

I got up before my 9am alarm

due to it being monthly laptop maintenance Wednesday. So far according to the screen there is no activity. Sometimes it takes awhile. I have some masking tape over the webcam for privacy reasons.

Petitioning for afiliate membership in a Canadian Rite lodge has been something I've been wanting to do for awhile now. I'm going to shoot out an email to our secratary requesting a copy of my membership card. Affiliation is more affordable then full membership. There is this Saturday lodge I like and some of the members know me. Plus, it's late enough that it doesn't conflict with BoB earlier on a Saturday. The affiliate lodge might conflict with my monthly breakfast gathering but the monthly breakfast lodge is usually much later. The point of all this is to join a Lodge of prefection etc and going foraward obtain my 32° before the year is out.

Still no word from maintenance regarding our AC instalation. Anne insists that there is a 24 hour notice when they will get here. For a service call? Anyway, that's all for now.

That was quite the game last

night. Elks scored 2 majors in the 1st Quarter. There were 2 kick returns to score. At the half it was 17 Ottawa, 22 Elks. There were 2 turnovers, one per each team. Finale was 33 Visitors 39 Elks Next Sunday week 6 BC lions, Elks. BC won the other night in Montreal. Lets hope we can make it 2 in a row.

I hope to finish this book by the end of the week and move onto something else:

Not saying I'm not enjoying the series, I am but I have other books I want to get into.

Tonight I'm watching Monday night Raw, and doing my steps. I did 3.12k's worth yesterday. Last week i ended up with 20.64k or an average of 2.94k/day. Anyway, that's all for now.

Sunday, July 6, 2025

Yesterday i woke up about

11:30am. I did bassicaly nothing all day, except watching You Tube video, Facebook & reading.

Yesterday July 5 boasts a somewhat dubious birthday: Spam. On this date in 1937, Hormel Foods introduced the unique meat product to the world. The curious food with the strange name went on to acquire cult status, inspiring a Monty Python sketch and musical, Spamalot, a book of haikus about Spam, and not one, but two festivals devoted to celebrating the product.

My highlight of today will be watching the Elks host Ottawa Red Blacks @ Commonwealth & doing my steps, you tube. I love summer. Anyway, that's all for now.

Not much going

in the next 24 hours. The highlight of my day yesterday was watching Smackdown and getting my mail. Exciting huh?

Even though the Amazon compression stockings I've been wearing recently have been holding up ok, no way are they 30-40 compresion ratio. The pair before these were patched at the heals because in my use case, that's usually where the material becomes worn down to expose skin. So we're back to the patched ones. I could buy a new pair but at $100/pair I'd also need a Doctors script. My next AADL authorization is 5 months away.

At this moment with a 0-3 can the Elks get their first win on Sunday? So far we're 0-3. The only team in the CFL that hasn't won yet. While the league has not officially discussed closing a team, financial instability and declining interest could create a situation where a team can no longer sustain operations. Only 2 teams so far have turned a profit. No need to panic just yet. Anyway, that's all for now.

Yesterday Anne went to the office to

show what she wanted done with the AC. They said based on what she showed them, they could set it up for us including plexiglass. The window screen is on the inside of the frame. I had to co sign a work order but because it's a Friday today they won't be able to do this until early to mid next week. We're getting a heat wave for Tuesday/Wednesday. Hopefully they will get here Monday.

With the exact information I was able to get an online Astrology chart. I don't want to use this for any divination or anything like that.

The Elks are hosting Ottawa FC Sunday It's a 5pm game. Speaking of football. Keeping with the football theme, Edmonton's own Arctic Pride womens football was in the news today. The Western Womens CFL Arctic Pride Are getting some traction. I hopeit's a success. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, July 3, 2025

Our local weather is mor comfortable @

+17°. What with the heat on hereand the central AC going, why the AC hasn't been shut down for the Summer? IDK.

I'll be having last nights Royal Pizza for "lunch" ~ 5pm ish for us.

These are early days but I'm trying to get myself an astrology chart, while I have this time off. I'm sure there are services to accomplish this online. I've been wanting to do this years ago but the only thing holding me back was getting my time of birth and now that I have time off, this is could be an interesting side project. Back in 2023 I ordered my birth records from the department of vital stats. I had the sense to write down the time of my birth in my calendar: 11:08am. I was mom's first child. I'll be playing with this tonight, and bouncing around email, you tube, reading my book, steps etc. Anyway, that's all for now.

Wednesday, July 2, 2025

It's 7:45pm

and we seldom get +30°C this time of night even during summer. Even the day after Canada Day.

Including the humidex it was more like +32°C. Anne and I went to the observation lounge on the 8th floor and it was a bit more comfortable. We're suposed to get some lightning activity and light rain latter. I swaer to god, we got about 4 fans running here.😀

Today Alberta created it's own Police force called Alberta Sheriffs Police Service. Headquarters in Calgary. This is not meant to replace the RCMP🤔but to provide police services service to rural Alberta where the RCMP is lacking presence. On the surface this is a good idea. Most likely IMO this is a move to appeal to the Alberta separatists fringe group.

We've had our floor AC sitting idle since we moved in. With the building AC making it so hot in here and this current heat wave provided Anne inspiration to have our AC installed. We just need to see if it's compatible with the building's electrical system. Once that's done, Anne's going to get some plexiglass from Home depot or something, take out the screen mounted on the inside and install and maybe taped. Anyway, that's all for now.

Tuesday, July 1, 2025

This evening

about 10:30 we're going to the observation lounge to watch the Canada day fireworks.

Not much going on this week. Actually I'm taking July off from (unless something comes up) health related excursions and Lodge related activities. No outings. Nothing. I want to enjoy summer, without running around. I just want to stick close to home; read, you tube etc, CFL football, eat cheese doodles, get my steps in.

I think AADL might want to hall me in to do some testing on my leg circulation. When I last spoke with anyone they said 4-6 months. That won't be until around September or November. Happy Canada day everyone. That's all for now.

Monday, June 30, 2025

I had a nice relaxing day

yesterday. I relearned about pranayama yoga from Lon Milo Duquette (Baba lon), yesterday. I need to get his Tarot deck, because my Thoth Tarot deck is a collectors (to me) item and I need something a bit smaller. I have a few places here in town where I'm going to enquier if they stock Duquette's Tarot deck. Or a smaller Thoth deck for working purposes. Or something similar. Baba Lon places (The Universe) card in his pocket while doing pranayama. It's a neat exrcise. I'll be making a few phone calls today.

I'm about to start July's calendar for tomorrow. Speaking of which tomorrow is Canada day. Elbows up. Anyway, that's about all for now.

The bgp meeting was really good

as we had ~ 12-15 members were in attendence. Also Rickies took our orders right where we were. I ordered the ham and egg omelette with cubed hash browns and coffee. Nathan had the same. We covered a lot of grownd and were done by 1pm. Our SD offered me a ride home, which was damn nice of him. It was a warm day out there heading to the SD truck. I showed him my building as we went by and asked him if he go a bit further to Bonny Doon mall. I thanked him on arrival.

I needed to have my cell phone account topped up as I can't recall how I did it online. The clerk @ Rogers got that set up for me. I asked about a cell phone upgrade as I'm using an iPhone 11. It might be running 3G which most serivice providers are retiering 3G soon. The recent iPhone has greater memory capacity, 5G and has a USB C port for charging etc. The cell phone is C $65 up from my. The difference is $28. Or $336/year.

Outside. by the South Entrance I saw some seniors waiting for a bus. I was fixiated on the #525 for some reason but there was a senior from our building as I coud tell by the blue entrance fob on her key chain. I called bus link #311 and my bus was an hour away. The lady said she was waiting for the #524. I decided to take the train home and as soon as I aproached the entrance here was the senior exiting off the bus waited the #524. Note to self: Get the #524 next time.

I'm taking the week off from outings this week. I'm going to call my Doctors office to see if I can book an appointment. I was given 2 forms to fill out but they had got lost in the move. I'm calling Friday for next week.. Anyway, that's all for now.
