I've had a busy couple

of days since Saturday. Sunday I worked from noon to 6pm and then Monday I worked from 10-6 and Tuesday night back to my regular hours 4-9 and same for tomorrow. I've been putting in a lot of hours lately.

Over the last few days, I've had this severe toothache pain. it got so bad yesterday I was up all night. Anne gave me a Tylenol 3 and that didn't even help. I passed out on the couch watch some old John Wayne ww2 movies on the couch. I took some Advil and that helped put me to sleep. I woke up yesterday morning about noon and felt a lot better. I took a few more Advil before my commute and I had the odd flare up of pain during my 5 hour shift, but ended ok. So far, my inside mouth is still tender but I'm not feeling too bad.

We needed to finish a project and it was finally completed about 9:15 last night. So I hung around waiting for one of my colleagues, so if the bus was breaking the plane of 107th Westbound on 124th, I'd be able to run ahead of her and hold the bus for her. The bus was across the street and left as we got to the corner lights. 15 minutes later and it was a bitter cold night and while it was overcast and could be for the next few days, I couldn't even see the Super moon outside. The bus finally came and sure enough the Clareview LRT just left. Another 15 minute wait. Then another 15 minute wait for the #11 to leave Clareview. I didn't get home until 10:45pm. Instead of me hanging around in the office, I should have ran out to catch the bus and hold it for my colleague. That way we both would have caught the bus etc. Anyway, that's all for now.

At first I thought I'd have

2 days off but in the briefing we we're asked if any of us wanted to put in some extra hours so we could finish a project. Ok, I don't mind coming in Sunday noon to 6pm. They were grateful for that.

Since Thursday night Friday morning we got close to 25 centimetres of snow, which is almost 10 inches, enough to fill a crockpot. That's not quite what they get in Atlantic Canada. They get like 3 times that amount if not more. For us out in the West this is a huge amount and more is expected on the way.

Next week I'm back to my 4-9 shift except lodge Thursday night. Next weekend, I'll have a full weekend. Tomorrow night, Anne recorded the Royal Rumble, so I'll have that ready to watch when I'm at home. The Oilers have played 3 games in 19 days, as of Thursday February 1st. The schedule is not very kind to them this year. Anyway, that's all for now.

My hours at work have been

3-9:30pm. Long days but the hours make a difference as we're getting busy. Some of the crew were even working this last Sunday. I don't mind the Sunday shift but this Sunday is WWE's Royal Rumble, and that even takes priority over Lodge practice.

Sunday night Anne and I got to watch "Wonder woman" on video on demand. I really liked this movie. I didn't like the ending though. The setting was really good. Nothing was over the top or pretentious. For presentation, I thought the movie was well done. There was no wasted movement. These were not cut out characters but well defined characters with goals and aspirations.
I gave Wonder Woman a 4.5 * out of 5.

I'm not a Doctor but lately I've been given this medicine called Coversyl plus to keep my blood pressure down. It has some side affects. One such side affect is vertigo. I take one pill a day. My wife also takes it and apparently has a similar affect on her. One thing about us baby boomer seniors, is we're basically make work projects for the health care industry. Anyway, that's all for now.

I'm really enjoying this

nice weather we've been getting lately. Yesterday it was abt 8.2* something. Work is still going well.

Ok I've done some stupid things in my life but these idiots going around eating Tide detergent pods take the cake. I can't believe kids are that stupid. But its not just kids. Yesterday on my way to work because of the nice weather this mature individual was on the bus wearing shorts. Then when he ends up getting the flue or a cold and wonders why, well, hey stupid. With colds and flu running around not only are these nuts making themselves sick but taking other people out around with the. In the winter I'm wearing a parka even when the weather is +12.

I'm almost ready to get a Go Pro camera tomorrow. My music store has the Hero 5 on sale for $400. I can put $200 on it and open an account for $20/month. Anyway, that's all for now.

I'm in the middle of a work week

holding my own 4-9pm. I'll be glad when Friday rolls around as I get a couple of days off and Saturday, I'm out to get some breakfast and get a couple of books at Audrey's, then its off to Freemason's Hall to visit Commercial lodge. Its their Robbie Burns gathering. Lots of libation flowing, and I'll have a burger or something on the way home before the Oilers/Canucks game. However, I have another 3 more days before that happens.

Lately I haven't been feeling very well. I felt some nausea and vertigo a couple of hours ago, while listening to a YouTube video, Rolling Stones "Goats head soup." 1973. I opened up my window here and listened to the whole album. I think the last time I heard this album was near abouts when it came out. At the time, I didn't like it. And now, wow what album. Every song is strong. Mick Taylor's guitar work is amazing here and really shines. I began too feel a lot better. I still don't think I'm out of the woods just yet, but I'm getting there. Anyway, that's all for now.

What a crazy week its been last week

what with mud slides in California, ballistic missile alerts in Hawaii, some guy in the White house mentioning something about shithole countries? What? Yeesh. I know its easy to say in hindsight but you just don't say things like that. The leader of the free world should know better.

It took me, just over 6 months to finish reading "Way of Kings," and I enjoyed the reading experience. I'm not a fast reader, as some probably could finish the book in 2-3 months. I've got other interests beside reading. This book is I think the biggest book I've read. "Even Battlefield Earth" logged in at just under 1,100 pages. So now I'm reading a trilogy I bought back in July 2011 when I had a steady job. "Equations of Life," by Simon Morden. I'm barely into the first chapter. The writing is good but at first glance a bit over the top. So for 2017 I read all of 2 books that year. I normally end up reading at least 5-7 books a year. More reading output if the book is a Western.

Wow, how about those Edmonton Oilers? Hockey night in Canada's first night in Vegas and its the Oilers facing a fresh top team in the West hosting a tired-play-the-night- before a win Oilers. Nearly 6,000 Oilers fans from Coast to Coast, descended onto Las Vegas even getting a mentioning from the Las Vegas Mayor as well. Class. We got the first goal, then they scored to tie. We got the go ahead goal and they scored to take the game tied at 2 for OT. I was gritting "my teeth" with anticipation in OT but we scored to get the win. 6,000 Oilers fans even sang Happy birthday to Conner McDavid on his 21st birthday. Nice gesture. All of this and the Oilers get a week off because of the bye week. Perfect timing. Is the above a pretext to something great to the start of the 2nd half of the campaign for the Oilers? Look at Calgary, they weren't that far ahead of us and now they are in a playoff spot. There's a lot of hockey left. All the Oilers need is a 7 game winning steak and they are back in the playoff picture. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

One thing is for certain, our local weather cold snap as of Friday has been lifted as of Saturday. In other words we're out of the deep freeze. Saturday our daily high was +1*
even though today we're at -10* but feels like -14* its a lot better then -22 with a -31 wind chill. All this week we're supposed to be in the single low digits. Its welcome relief going into the new week. All of that and work is progressing moving forward. I got work up until the end of the month. Other projects are in the que. I paused my ei reporting Friday so when and if I get laid off or there is a shortage of work for a week or two, ei is nice to have. We could really use it over the summer as I have abt 5 weeks left on that claim. I'll blog again in a couple of days. Anyway, that's all for now.

Just working out the work week

as I have today and the weekend trying to escape the cold. The good news is we slip back down to single digit temperatures for Saturday and next week. At the moment its -27 but feels like -32.

After 6 months and 2 weeks I just finished "Way of Kings." Wow. No spoilers in this my initial reaction. I have book 2 but that's 1,250 pages of fantasy and I want to give that genre a bit of a rest. I bought a trilogy of books all in one go. "Equations of Life" by Simon Morden. So, after my ei business later this morning, I'm going to finish my "Way of Kings" update and try this trilogy. This series looks like its in a contemporary setting. I wonder if there's any reference to new American fighter plan the F-52?

Unless by some miracle it looks like the Oilers are out of the playoffs, unless they can pull off a 8-10 game winning streak. The Oilers this year seem to win one game and lose 3. Though they got off to a bad start with a lot of injuries, even after some of those injured players returned, the Oiler could never recover. Maybe next month they could make some trades, tweak the system a bit and play for next season. Tonight they play in Arizona and then again Saturday at Rogers Place arena. Anyway, that's all for now.

I'm working in 2018

and I never would have believed it. We have minimum wage going up in Ontario and here in Alberta in October. Companies responding to that by sending jobs to off shore markets, scary. If I have a job in October I'd be one of the few. As for this week, I'm 5-9 and off Saturday's. I need a break, anyway that's all for now.

Folks in most parts along the Eastern

seaboard, Maritimes, New York, Boston Washington and all the rest are in the grip of a massive cold weather front. I heard wind chill reports of -40 in some places, been there done that. They're getting snow in Florida. Meanwhile we're basking in the pleasant temperature of  +4*, it feels like Spring out there. Its a reprieve from last weeks -28/32 wind chill and the das are getting longer. I hope everyone is hunkering down doing the best they can.

Finally I'm back to work on Monday. I've been off work for 6 weeks now. The bills are covered and that's the main thing. I put a couple of jams together on my You Tube channel, watched a lot of hockey, played with some of my recent apps, lots of reading. I'm back this week at least, Monday through Friday. I'll know next week's schedule Friday. If there is one. A photo coming in soon :-)

Today, I'm taking it easy, watching the Oilers in Dallas in about half an hour. At the moment I'm enjoying the old sip of the coffee, and writing this blog. Anyway, that's all for now.

I meant to blog yesterday but got caught up in the day

and all. I've been concerned about my service Canada account but everything is ok now. The only thing I'm concerned with is getting back to work. We're ok for this month if nothing happens but we definitely need something for February.

I'm working on beat for Jamuary. Its not a type. Its a challenge for us music content creators at Jim Shannon on sounds. Its a little dub jam I put together with Novation Launch pad. I hope the audio comes out as stereo. The next video is using Cubasis and yes its called Jamuary 1. I'm no Logan Paul or anything. I'm just a quiet content creator in my little corner of the Internet.

So "little rocket man" is at it again. I like how Trump said something like "My button is bigger and it works better." Whatever that means. So I'll be calling the office later this morning to see if we have any work coming up. I'll be on it short notice if I have to. Anyway, that's all for now.
