what with mud slides in California, ballistic missile alerts in Hawaii, some guy in the White house mentioning something about shithole countries? What? Yeesh. I know its easy to say in hindsight but you just don't say things like that. The leader of the free world should know better.
It took me, just over 6 months to finish reading "Way of Kings," and I enjoyed the reading experience. I'm not a fast reader, as some probably could finish the book in 2-3 months. I've got other interests beside reading. This book is I think the biggest book I've read. "Even Battlefield Earth" logged in at just under 1,100 pages. So now I'm reading a trilogy I bought back in July 2011 when I had a steady job. "Equations of Life," by Simon Morden. I'm barely into the first chapter. The writing is good but at first glance a bit over the top. So for 2017 I read all of 2 books that year. I normally end up reading at least 5-7 books a year. More reading output if the book is a Western.
Wow, how about those Edmonton Oilers? Hockey night in Canada's first night in Vegas and its the Oilers facing a fresh top team in the West hosting a tired-play-the-night- before a win Oilers. Nearly 6,000 Oilers fans from Coast to Coast, descended onto Las Vegas even getting a mentioning from the Las Vegas Mayor as well. Class. We got the first goal, then they scored to tie. We got the go ahead goal and they scored to take the game tied at 2 for OT. I was gritting "my teeth" with anticipation in OT but we scored to get the win. 6,000 Oilers fans even sang Happy birthday to Conner McDavid on his 21st birthday. Nice gesture. All of this and the Oilers get a week off because of the bye week. Perfect timing. Is the above a pretext to something great to the start of the 2nd half of the campaign for the Oilers? Look at Calgary, they weren't that far ahead of us and now they are in a playoff spot. There's a lot of hockey left. All the Oilers need is a 7 game winning steak and they are back in the playoff picture. We'll have to wait and see I guess.
One thing is for certain, our local weather cold snap as of Friday has been lifted as of Saturday. In other words we're out of the deep freeze. Saturday our daily high was +1*
even though today we're at -10* but feels like -14* its a lot better then -22 with a -31 wind chill. All this week we're supposed to be in the single low digits. Its welcome relief going into the new week. All of that and work is progressing moving forward. I got work up until the end of the month. Other projects are in the que. I paused my ei reporting Friday so when and if I get laid off or there is a shortage of work for a week or two, ei is nice to have. We could really use it over the summer as I have abt 5 weeks left on that claim. I'll blog again in a couple of days. Anyway, that's all for now.
