but crazy. Now in this line of work, we all have expectations, I get that. Hours are short at my job as it is but by placing further demands on my job is adding insult to injury. Its called flow rate quotas. Some clients get real anal over it and they're saying that if the average flow rate isn't met then hours will be dropped. Sorry but I don't work that way and my wife is encouraging me get some pick up hours where she works. I'm beginning to to see where this makes sense. I don't need the aggravation.
Yesterday Apple went and introduced the 5C and 5S. The C comes in different colors the the iTouch. The 5S has fingerprint lock technology and slow motion camera movement. The 5S comes in various colors such as gold, silver and I think platinum, I think. I'm in no hurry to get one. I don't even have a steady job, little alone enough to get a cell phone. Not that getting a cell phone is a big deal for me anyway.
I'm still going to keep my job and all but I'm going to go all out and get some pick up hours. If they want to play hard ball with me fine, I'll be able to absorb the losses. I appreciate the job and all. Anyway, that's all for now.

I'm back at it today
but if things don't pick up I'm going to get the extra hours someplace else. I'm running out of my savings. If I can work 4-9 Tuesday-Saturday, that'd be ok until my early retirement comes in around November but I need something steady.
I get asked all the time,"Jim your in Alberta, whats your take on the Keystone pipeline? Its a accident waiting to happen. This thing is mapped right through Hurricane alley. Its a recipe for disaster. The best way to get our oil to the US is by rail. Just 1 DOT-111 tank car can carry 20,000 US gallons of oil.The DOT-111 tank car was involved in the Lac-Mégantic derailment earlier this summer in Quebec. There were 72 of them in that disaster. Transporting oil to the US is safer then the pipeline.
I'm having some issues with Google+ and YouTube. My YouTube channel is ok but my YouTube inbox is missing. Also I can't change my profile picture because of size issues. Even after I change size of my photo. I might have to open a new Google+/Hangouts or what ever it's called. It might take me awhile, but I'll figure it out.
Another thing I get asked all the time is what I think will happen to our society. I don't think we'll have any major wars or anything because our society will be very prosperous. At the same time Earths population will be down to the levels of the 1920's due to over population levels. Et will still be in the realm of science fiction. There will be settlements on Mars and other planets moons etc. There will also be synthetic programmable human like robots. Cloths will be holographic and resistant to the environment. At the latter half of the century physicists would have found alternate earths like in sliders but without humans. That's about all I "see" right now. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Well I've got another 3 days off
and that's not good. I'm going to see what's happening for next week then, I'll be making some adjustments. Most of the people I work with have a 2nd job and I might be forced to look for a 2nd job as well. I have about another 3.5 years before I retire anyway and then I'd keep this job part time. For now though I'm not quite there.
Yesterday Nasa launched "Ladee" a lunar mission from Wallops Flight Facility on the Virginia shore. The mission is to measure the thin lunar atmosphere and lunar dust. Also this mission is to demo laser communication. It's going to orbit the earth 3 times. It's going to arrive in the lunar orbit October 6th. It's a 6 month $280 million mission. .
Not much on my plate today. I'll be watching the BC/Hamilton game about to get under way, in about an hour after that, I'll probably work on a track after that.
I don't think the Eskimo's respond to well under pressure. It's kind of like Cody Rhodes being "fired" by Triple H when he lost his match with Randy Orton. Sure the Esks are struggling but they've got to play better then they did last night. Our first chance at the ball on a kick return, it gets fumbled recovered and points made on that turnover. Our field goal kicker had 2 field goals a high school kid could have made and he missed both of them. Our QB's go to receiver that accounted for almost 27 points in 5 minutes Monday had double coverage all night giving us a score of 12-22 Calgary. We're 1-10! We hadn't had a record like this since 1971. That was the year we had to fly a bunch of NFL players up here. Even at the moment we're running with only 3 imports. At least NHL training camp is coming up next week.
In a interesting "turn of development" from a story from the national news. It seems there are more then one "opposition" group in Syria. The National news source said there could be as many as 4-6 different groups with various agenda's. But what if terrorist groups have managed to acquire chemical weapons brought them into Syria and used them to draw other countries like the US into the conflict? Arming these groups is a bad idea because for all we know we're arming terrorists organizations. I'm pretty sure US intelligence knows what they're doing but you never know.
At the moment, I'm enjoying a coffee trying to wake up. Next weekend (I hope) I'll be working 10-4pm.
Alright the BC/Hamilton CFL game is about to get under way. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Yesterday as I was getting ready to leave for Lodge
I got a call from the office saying Friday and Saturday's shift is out so I'm to call in about 5pm. They have a good reason and at least I'll be able to catch the Stamps/Esks game, so that should be ok. I've got a long weekend but the hours aren't there. Hopefully I'll get them back again for next week.
Tonight's Coast is going to be pretty good: The Illuminati and "Hip-hop." I love shows like this. Obviously this is a attempt to discredit hip-hop. It's not my style of music but it's going to be a fun show.
Over the past couple of months on the Connect 2 Edmonton Forum, I was kind of ragging on the upcoming Nait Line. I thought that because the current bus station to gain access to Kingsway Mall will be demolished and the new bus station will be North of the Royal Alex Hospital, I'm not going to traverse 4 lanes of traffic to get to Kingsway and then I realized, "wait now" the end of the Nait line is going to be right behind the mall. No lanes of traffic to cross. Cool.
We had a full house of visitors and Lodge dignitaries and even though I'm missing 1 chair, I could be missing 2. We're just going to fill them night by night, but we're still going to have my year. Barely. I'm still going to have my year in the East, somewhere.
About noon I'm heading across the street to Superstore to get my Proline tickets. It's week 11. This time I've got Friday night Stamps/Esks (T) Esks to win by 3 points. Saturday: BC/Hamilton (T) Sunday: Argo's/Al's (T) Riders/Winnipeg, Riders to (W) That's 3 ties and a win.
The city's paving crew has been hard at it all night. Anyway, that's about all for now.

What the iPad 5 is coming out later this
month? Yeesh. My iPad 3 is barely 18 months old and there is no way I'm going to break down and buy the latest and greatest. If apple decides to bail on their previous gen iPad's and stop their os upgrades at the iPad 5, Apple loses my credibility. They did this with my iTouch 4.2.1 3rd gen and I can't upgrade the software beyond what I have. As long as we can access iTunes and do face time and I can access the net that's all I need. That doesn't mean I'm going to go onto Android. I'm about to wash my hands with the whole mobile tabs phones everything. All I need is my home internet especially after my iPad was hacked. Our Big 3 service providers wont put a usage cap freeze if the account goes over it's limit. Please Verizon come into Canada we need competition. The real value for me for a tablet is reading eBooks and I can get a Kobo for about $150 and Kobo supports ePub.
On Coast this evening they have a great poll: "How would you prefer to be paid "Cheque or Direct bank deposit?" That's the way I'd like to go. DBD all the way. Most respondents felt the same way.
I had a pretty good day today even though the file I had looked like there was about an hours worth of work in it. I thought, great, maybe I can ride the train for awhile and have a nap before the next shift starts. Sure enough the boss comes back with another large file. Rats. That's good though because that and what I had this evening gave me a full day. By 7:40pm I was played out but I had a break ahead of me and I went to Subway and got a coffee. They had the "Tour Alberta" bike race and part of the route went by our building. After work I was relieved to catch my train home and a bunch of "tour" fans boarded my train at Churchill station. Its all good.
Spider man does it again! Thanks to Coast for this. A 69 year old man was concerned about the cost of his daughters wedding. He remembered a old box of comic books he had stored away. Inside there it was The Amazing Spider-man no.1! He paid 12 cents for it in 1963. He sold it for $7,000.The story gets even more interesting but you can read about it here.
I got 5 hours tomorrow and some banking to do, going in with my wife. Anyway, that's about all for now.

My last day off today
and my football game Bombers/Riders was almost a tied game up to the half. Then today I got the Esks/Calgary game and Monday night Raw to wrap up my evening and my 5 days off
Last night about 10pm the city paving crew decides to turn the street out here into a construction paving zone. It was bumper to bumper traffic out there as the city decides to bring in te heavy equipment. I got a bit of sleep but then about 4am it was beep-beep all night. It was giving me a headache. Finally the beeping stopped about 7am. Maybe someone complained. I slept on the couch and feel a bit better.
I've got my first day back to work having tomorrow after having almost a week off. Thursday I'm off because of Lodge night. Friday is a short shift and I'm working on a rare Saturday, then I'm taking 2 days off after that. Its not that busy a week but I got some stuff going on. Anyway, that's about all for now.

My 5 and a half days
off are coming to a close. I've got Sunday, which is a Winnipeg/Riders at 2pm today. I've got 2 more sleep-ins and on Tuesday I'm back to work for a short week and Thursday off. I had just about all of August off. Thursday is my Lodge night, which is going to be interesting. I'm also going to work on a rare Saturday next weekend.
If everything works out ok, I should have the computer the Saturday of November 1st. It's a i5 quad core, 32 Gb Ram and I'm going to upgrade the hard drive with a 4Tb hard drive. This computer comes with Win 7 running at 64 bit and I'm going to bring my laptop hard drive along and get that drive cloned over to the new drive. I hope to accomplish that on a Friday afternoon, that's the idea
I've got football today and Sunday with the Esks/Calgary and to end the evening with Monday night Raw. I wish I had more long weekends off like this Anyway, that's about all for now.
