is good for the Esks. As bad as we are this year, there's no time to panic.
I had a pretty good day on the job and a bit of training and I went home at 3pm. After I got out of the office I went and picked up a Horus Heresy novel: "Deliverance lost."
I'm not one for going to the bar but occasionally even I need to get out there once in awhile. Lately I've been going to Buds over there at Londonderry Mall as I can leave out of the back entrance beside "Sport Check" to the left in this photo and catch the bus where I'm standing. The bus lets me off in front of my place so I don't have to cross the street. I haven't tried a Guinness yet, I'm considering tomorrow or Thursday. There's a local establishment that has something like 300 varieties of beers. I'd like to try that place.
Another one of my hobbies is Advanced Squad Leader (ASL) and I like to visit their site too see what's coming out. So far nothing ASL wise.
It's a long weekend coming up and I get 3 days off! Can't complain about that at all. Anyway, that might be about it for me for a couple of days. Of course I'm on Twitter, anyway that's about all for now.
Welcome to my Blog. Sun is shinning looks like a nice day for
closing out the month of July. The Summer is going by too fast. Mostly because of our longer then usual winter. We had snow on the ground right up until the end of April, then almost like punching a time clock the 1st of May Summer starts. We should normally get for around here in Edmonton about 5 months of a warm Spring and Fall.
I added a new link to my left blog sidebar, "Claw's & Fists" The guy is a "Space Wolf" fan but I'm kind of interested in the Tau army as well. Need to do some more research on these guys. I'm also looking into sampling the US podcast "11th Company" and a few more Warhammer 40K podcasts. There's a lot of them out there I'm looking at. Of course, I can't listen to everything.
After work I'm coming home to watch the CFL game, Argo's/BC. It should be a good one.
Well, that's about all for me for now, I'll probably update this at halftime during the CFL game later. Anyway that's about all for now.

That was my weekend and it was ok up until about 2
hours ago when the wife had a blow-up. What I don't go through with.
This is cool: Nasa has, since July 26th received 400 submissions to retrieve an asteroid as part of its asteroid-retrieval capture plan, which NASA unveiled in April, is known as the agency's Asteroid Initiative. The mission is to get underway in 2025. Here's a further link to the story a Space com.
I'm very close to buying a new laptop mostly for music production and a bit of gaming. I've got a couple of candidates about the price of a 512 ssd drive. I'm not doing anything with it at the moment until I get a Ram and a 7200 rpm upgrade, which will cost me about as much as a PS2 gaming system. That won't be until September. I could be picking up the laptop on Wednesday, but we'll see.
Another cool science development: Nasa Scientist to Scour Kepler Data in Search of Alien Technologies. You can read this from i09 here:
Tonight is Monday night Raw and Tuesday night its BC/Argo's for a rare Tuesday night CFL game. Friday it's the Esks with the worst record in the CFL against Hamilton. It should be a decent week ahead. Anyway, that's all for now.

I'm enjoying my Sunday afternoon off
despite no football or hockey.
For nearing the end of July it's not that warm of a day out there sitting at +15 showing a bit of rain.
I'm going to miss iGoogle when it's gone in November. I can still get similar "gadgets" on my Google Drive page without going Chrome. I'm too used to Firefox. Anyway a Science story appeared on my iGoogle page about a 15 meter "magnetic ring" transported to Fermilab in Wisconsin. It took 6 weeks to get to Fermilab. The story from the Science insider is here.
I almost bought a Intel quad Core i7 laptop today from Future shop but I checked and it seems that all locations don't even have this item in stock. Best buy has a AMD A10 in my price range and if they have it in stock at t heir West Edmonton Mall location, I might just pick it up Wednesday. I'm not buying this for gaming, maybe 10% or so for gaming. So, we'll see. I might just end up waiting until their labor Day sale.
The objective is to put a full week in for this week. I've got the hours and the work. Hopefully nothing will go wrong. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Because my
hours
were low and I'm kind of glad it worked out this way because I'm saving
up for my laptop upgrade. Instead I'm buying the Pizza so Anne doesn't
have to cook tonight.
Possibly Wednesday I'm thinking about going into Future shop and getting a 2.5" hard drive upgrade for my laptop. I'm going to go from. Most laptops hard drives run at 5400 rpm. I'm getting a hard drive running at 7200 rpm. I have a few programs that would take advantage of a faster hard drive. I also want to see if they could change my os from 32 bit to 64 bit so I can install more ram. I'll be doing this Wednesday after work. Thanks to not going to K-Days, that alone will save me a lot of cash for this upgrade.
After Anne left for work I stumbled upon the closing scenes of "Ice station Zebra." Talk about an All star cast: Rock Hudson Ernest Borgnine Patrick McGoohan. This was probably released right after "The Prisoner." It's a classic movie.
I had a good Saturday. For once I didn't go anywhere this weekend, just stayed home and watched a couple of football games. Tomorrow, less the football, its more of the same. Anyway that's all for now.

Friday is finally here
Last nights Esks/Al's game was slow to get underway but got going in the 2nd half. Esks 27 Al's 32. Either way if the Esks got that last rush to the end zone during the last 10 seconds, it would have been 34-32 still a Proline Tie. The Lions/Argo's game is on Tuesday kind of wrecking my 4 game weekend. Note to self, don't bet in favor for the Esks.
After work I'm over at Audrey's to get a Warhammer 40k CD and a Horus Heresy book. I'm into the 2nd book of the 3 book "Space Wolf" Omnibus. I liked the characters in the first book but they appear absent in this 2nd book but show up in the 3rd. Also in the 2nd book of this Omnibus the Chaos Space Marines make an appearance and so do the Night Lords. Interesting stuff.
After that it's over to Wendy's for a bite to eat and head home. There's no CFL double header this weekend because of Tuesday's game. So tonight it's Calgary/Winnipeg.
I decided against upgrading and or buying parts for a new PC. I tweaked Slayer for my "guitar" and it sounds pretty good. However I'm looking at getting a 512Gb SSD drive but it has a SATA connection. I think all SSD's but I've seen a SSD drive installed in my version of Acer on YouTube, so I know it can be done. Anyway, that's all for now.

The Internet has been so slow lately
as it's been difficult to cycle between pages or even to open a web page. Nothing worse then as slow internet connection.
I had a great night at home trying to build the pc I'm looking for. It's about the cost of a 27" iMac but I get 32Gb Ram and a i7 Quad core on a Gene VI mATX mb and a 512 SSD with a 3TB hard drive etc. It's a pretty good build but I probably wont be able to get it until about next Spring. If I still have the same job that is.
This was on the national news earlier about silver bars on a ship sunk by the Nazi's in WW2 An astounding $36 million in silver has been hauled from a WW2 wreck Here's the link to the i09 story...
Google has recently announced a interesting bit of tech to come out: Chromecast. It's a web TV dongle the size of a pen drive that fits in the HDMI slot of a flat screen TV. I caught a bit of this last night on Coast to Coast George was talking about it. Its a way to have YouTube and other content stream right into any TV. This is huge. The dongle is apparently going to cost about $35. It means web pages can now be streamed to any TV via wifi including ios devices. According to Yahoo news six billion hours of video are watched every month on YouTube. Google must be the biggest television company in history, at least in terms of eyeball hours. Google has been showing off prototype browsers and apps built for TVs for years at tech shows - but has never quite got the hardware right. It's an old concept but it looks like this time, they got it right. When this will be available, I have no idea, here's the Yahoo article....
Baseball barely makes a blip on my radar screen but I'm a bit interested in our local baseball team The Edmonton Prospects. They lose more then they win but the tickets are priced right and it looks like a great way to spend a Summer afternoon at Telus field supporting the local teams
Speaking of which the Esks are in Montreal at a 5:30pm start and I'm going to miss the 1st quarter. Hopefully I can make most of the 2nd quarter but that's all for now.
