a "cold trend" so to speak at 0 degrees. For this time of year, nobody is complaining. During a normal February we'd have at least 18 inches of snow on the ground, and it'd be about -15 about now and a -20 wind chill.
Rant time: I share my commute with people I see all the time. I don't make friends with anyone on my evening commute, especially at night. Most people after 9pm just want to get home, without incident. I'm much the same way. Occasionally if I had a good shift and I'm in a good mood I'll smile and nod to somebody sharing my booth on the train. I see this one guy, middle eastern looking all the time and he gets off at the same stop as me every night. One night at Clareview station, I smile and nod and I thought that was the end of it. Only recently as of this autumn I've been taking the 3pm bus out here to Clareview station. The same guy shows up. He lives somewhere in our building complex, apparently. While waiting for the bus I begin to engage in conversation. He works as a custodian at WCB downtown, married etc. How does he like the weather here etc. He never asks me anything. So, I thought that was the end of it. When he shows up out here he makes eye contact with me, and now I feel obligated to say something to the guy. Like now he's my shadow. Gees mister, I'm not trying to make friends here. Not just that but he follows me around now. Yesterday while I'm getting off the bus at Clareview to catch the elevator to the upper concourse to catch the train he's in the elevator. There are usually 2 trains at Clareview station and its hard to tell, which one pulled in last. I'm deciding which one to take, and I see out of the corner of my eye, he's doing the same thing. So I make a decision and he follows me. I get up and leave one train for the other on track 2. He follows me. He doesn't sit with me but he's up ahead of me by a few booths. The train I was on pulled out and left us waiting there for 10 minutes. I was ok with that because I can catch the #3 or #5 from Central. I realized this morning that the call boards should have shown which train to catch. It wold have said, "just arrived" while the other one should have read Century park, 2 minutes or something like that. The other thing to shake this guy off my back is to leave a few minutes earlier, but I shouldn't have to do that. Its not like he seems to be a bad guy or anything but now I have a unwanted guest. Unless there's a way I can shake him off by making him feel uncomfortable to be around me. I've got a few ideas.
What I liked about Xentel was I'd go in and I didn't need to sign in and or sign out. I didn't need to fill out a time sheet. We have 2 supervisors and one is 4 days the other 2 days. The 4 day super always announces what time to pack up and through your time sheet in. Its all done on computer screen by project number, hours etc. I almost forgot to fill out my time sheet last night because the 2 day super doesn't announce when to do that. My #5 bus was heading towards the 124th/107th street intersection. The light was green, traffic both ways light so I looked both ways and crossed before the cross walk. As soon as I got to my stop, the lights went amber and then red. If I miss that one, I'd be home at 11pm. Anyway, that's all for now.
job and all but its so unpredictable, you can't depend on it as a source of income. Unless of course your on pension. I was happy when my other job sent me a invitation to return March 1st-May15th. I'll do 3 shifts at one job and 3 at the other. The object of the exercise is to work as much as I can until work stops and then open up a ei claim. It takes 6-8 weeks to get the first cheque in but once its in I can put the claim to sleep, so to speak (September) and reactivate it in the Spring next year (no waiting) until my pension is activated. That's why receiving the the invitation yesterday is so important.
I began Book #2 "Dreams if Eagles"/Eagles series by William W. Johnstone January 20th and I'm going to finish reading the book in the next 2-3 days. Just about 3 weeks. I don't know whats going on here. Normally when I read a science fiction book, it can take me 2-3 months to finish. At any rate, I like reading westerns.
It felt like a Spring time day, late March heading into work yesterday. We're getting some crazy good weather lately. Anyway, that's all today.
was one of the most boring in NFL history. I didn't watch much of it but I enjoyed the half time show, my pizza was good.
I like Justin Trudeau, don't get me wrong, however he has made some (imo) bonehead moves since becoming PM. I don't like the idea of pulling our aircraft out of the combat roll in the middle east. I'm not a big fan of having 25,000 Syrian refugees coming to Canada. I don't mind some but that's way to many. I don't like his position on the Trans pacific partnership. And I definitely don't like the $1B being spent to bail out Bombardier because some of that money most certainly go towards subsidizing jobs in the US. Thanks Bill for the share:
I don't have a problem with going into debt for a few years. Having the infrastructure spending is good but we here in Edmonton wont see any of it for at least another 2 years yet. While I appreciate JT's International presence, I'd like to see more job creation here in Alberta and more money invested in opening pipelines.
So for the most part this week its leave out of here at 3pm for my 4-9:30pm shift And home to watch whats left of wrestling. After this week I'm taking off at 9pm just on Monday nights. Anne says she's ok with that. I've got no where to go after work this week anyway so its just 3pm commute 4-9:30pm commute home by 10:30pm do my stuff until 4am sleep until noon. Basically rinse and repeat from there until Friday. Now that could change if my other job sends me a letter asking me to come back for March. In that case, I'll work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (we get off at 8:30pm) at the other place. Other then a couple Oiler games I'll be following not much is going on this week. Anyway, that's all for now.
watch the Oilers/Islanders game? Goal tending on our part was atrocious. The only 2 players that actually showed up during this afternoons debacle was McD and Kassian. I could have slept in and I would have at least a bit more sleep instead of watching that train wreck. I'd give the Oilers a -3 out of 10.
My pizza came at 4pm so I ate half of that and I'll have the other half in a couple of hours. At least the pizza was good.

My week ahead is looking good. I'm working from 4-9:30pm all week and Saturday 10-6pm and I have the family day long weekend off, other then lodge practice on the Sunday for the upcoming degree on the 18th. I'm going to try and get 5.5 hours of sleep overnight. I've got a full day of it today and because its Super bowl, we're having that off. This week, I'm 4-9:30 and Saturday so I should get 35 hours in plus 2 days off. Lots of work is good. Anyway, that's all for now.
Connor McDavid. The kid got a goal and 2 assists, his first night back. His goal stripped the puck and split the D. There's quite a buzz around town about the 1-5 Oiler win last night. To be fair, the Oilers were on home ice and playing the worst team next to ours and returning after a long All Star break. Still it was nice to see game highlights last night. The Oilers are about to go on a 4 game road trip beginning in Ottawa. Lets see how McD does with the boys on the road.
Speaking about oil but in a different vein, oil priced out at just under $30 yesterday. Industry experts are saying oil prices have yet to bottom out, and nobody knows where the bottom is. I'm no expert but I've lived around enough to see the cycles over the years. I think we're going to see oil priced around $30 for the rest of the year. This doesn't affect me to much at the moment because my colleagues were suggesting the worse off the economy the more work we usually get. I'd rather be going to work then looking for work. As for oil prices reaching the bottom? I got a gut feeling that oil could bottom out at about $21. Oil prices wont reach rock bottom but I feel they could bottom out at about $21. It could be 3-5 years before we ever see $70 oil again but you never know.
We're in a bit of a cold snap (-2/-8 wind chill) and that's not too bad. Locally, we're climbing back up to about +2- +4, later this week, which is always a good sign for this time of year. February has a lot going on especially this February because its a leap year. 29 days instead of 28 days. Yesterday was Ground Hog day and the ground Hog did not see his shadow and as the story goes, that means Spring is just a few weeks around the corner, March 21st or there abouts anyway. Also, Valentines day is on the Family day long weekend, 14th - 15th. I'm out of here at 3pm today and home about 10:30pm tonight. I got to make some adjustments on my calendar availability, when I get into the office. Anyway, that's all for now.
routine 4-9:30pm hours but I'm going to go to 9pm Monday because I miss the 1st half hour of Monday night Raw. I was fortunate enough to catch that #11 and when I get the 9:40pm bus that #11 at Clareview always like clockwork pulls out on me at 10pm. I was lucky to catch the bus waiting, which is unusual.
Happy days, Connor McDavid is back tonight at Rexall playing full contact hockey with the Oilers. My expectations are not very high. At least he's back, which if anything he makes the team better.
I'm back to my regular weekday hours 4-9:30pm and Thursday off because of Lodge. So I'm happy about that. Anyway, that's all for now.
