This week is going to get

a bit busy. I have lodge practice tonight; Monday I am heading out to Northgate to pick up my compression stockings, Saturday because our first Thursday would be Lodge but it's New Years, we're holding it at 7pm the following Saturday. What's even better is the Oilers game is on @ 1:30pm that same day. Love it.

We got above seasonal weather paterns over the next several day here in Edmonton. Low single digits Even right now it's -11°C. This is very nice:

It's going to be nice when I head out of here tomorrow.

I'll be getting picked up at about 6:30pm tonight. It's going to be a couple of hours at Highlands Hall. That floor in the Temple gets cold. I can't wear cleated boots in there. I found some Mens Edema slippers on Amazon. I'm thinking about order them for around here and lodge. I just ordered the slippers. Will be here Friday. Anyway, that's all for now.

I just did a

edit on the last post. It was kind of rushed.

We're having yet

another snow day. It's been snowing since I got out of bed and suposed to end about noon tomorrow.

Boxing day today, so I doubt there will be a "Smackdown show today." Netflix isn't showing an event. If it's not on it's understandable. Even Sports Entertainment needs some time off over the holidays.                                                      I'm not going anywhere this weekend, except lodge practice. My next outing will be Monday to Northgate, Healthcare solutions to get my compression stockings. I'm thinking about having that account transfered to another vendor close to me. That's only if they are an AADL ascociate. Anyway, that's all for now.

I was a big fan of

the Warhammer 40k book franchize. I had allmost all of the "Horus Heresy" novels up until about book 50 of 64 books. The serries ended last year. I even have some audio books as well on CD around here someplace. Most of my "Horus Heresy" books were puged in the move here. Thanks to my crazy wife. I wanted to get into some of the related Warhammer 40k figures and table top gaming but my Edema/CVI won't let me stand for long periods of time.

The "December 23 Enigma" points to the 23 Enigma, a belief that the number 23 holds unusual significance, appearing frequently in life and historical events, often linked to synchronicity, conspiracies (like the Mayans' 2012 prophecy ending on Dec 23rd), or pop culture. It stems from writers like William Burroughs noticing patterns (Captain Clark's plane crash, Flight 23) and was popularized by The Illuminatus! Trilogy and Jim Carrey's film The Number 23, highlighting how focused attention (selective perception) finds patterns everywhere, from DNA (23 chromosomes) to the I Ching. For further reading.

Last nights Flames/Oilers game @ Rogers Place arena, was a 5-1 Oilers blow out. The rubber match is Saturday. So far we're 1-1 in the series. Calgary won the last game in a shootout. The win last night, meant that the Oilers share 1st place in the Pacific division. Anyway, that's all for now.

Welcome to winter solstice

2025. Nathan & his wife picked me up yesterday morning @ about 8:30am. It was cold but no wind. Tutti Frutti breakfast and lunchTerra Losa shopping centre, wasn't bad. Pricey for what you get. Inside the place was barren. It had usual tables and stuff but no atmosphere. On a scale from 1-5, I'd rate it a 2.5 I won't be going back. My anual work stipend of $51. I received Friday paid for it. The send us each $51 every 4 months, because monthly maintenance needs us to power our work laptops on and to stand by while tech support does it's thing. So that's what paid for my breakfast yesterday.

I watched the Oilers/Wild game. Pickard let in 2 early goals. That was it. Not that any of our goal tenders would have made a difference. Both teams had turnovers. Finale score was 4-2 Oilers play Vegas here at 6pm.

It's Winter solstice and sunset has been holding @4:14pm for about ten days now. The days get longer from here. Anyway, that's all for now.

Friday, December 19, 2025

it's snowing

again. I don't mind winter. I just don't like the arctic vortex we get 2-3 times/year. Next week is Winter solstice, so the days should get lighter.

Considered the "father of mode clowning" Joseph Grimaldi was born on this day in 1778. Joseph Grimaldi was the most famous and popular clown of the period. His performance style had its origins in the Italian Commedia dell'Arte of the sixteenth century, but in the popular 'Harlequinades' of the early nineteenth century he emerged as the founding father of modern clowns.

Doesn't look like Nathan will be going to our Monthly lodge breakfast event Saturday. He might chat me in Face book messenger this evening, IDK. Then again we might have a lodge practice Sunday. Anyway, that's all for now.

The Oilers are playing

in Boston this afternoon at 5pm. Should be a good time. The Bruins are 20-14-0. second in their division. Oilers are 16-12-6. Commentary of course are going to make constant references to DeBrusk. Louis Debrusk was an Oiler 1991-97 and a fan favorite at the time. Should be a good game.

I'm hoping Nathan will want to go to our lodge December-breakfast-brotherly-love event Saturday. If he decides to go, he'll pick me up. If everything works out ok with that, maybe Louis (secratary) will be there and bring my Lodge dues and my name tag/WM. Jewel.

I spent most of yesterday morning on the phone with CRA, Service Canada tying to get my change of address on file, so CRA etc can send me my forms to file in March. Lots of voice mail options. I hope I don't need to go through all of that again. The Agent at CRA said all I do if this happens again is call Service Canada. Anyway, that's all for now.

It's been a busy couple of days around here

lately. Last Monday, Anne and I went out to the new Mr. Mikes @ Bonny Doon Mall. It was expensive per serving. December 10th was my place of employment staff party: Brewsters Medowlark mall. This was when we had our first Arctic vortex. Heading out the wind had a malicious sting that cut to the bone. Literally. I had a t-shirt underneath my sweater and parka. Not even my full piece balaclava kept me warm. Anne & I went out to Mill Creek Rickies this recent Sunday. I've been home ever since. Weather right now is:

I have my my Scottish Rite Petition out to Edmonton Valley. I have the $250 funds ready. Thisis for the "Lodge of perfection", (LOP) 4th-14th degrees, then same fee, Rose Croix, and same fee for Consistory to get 32° It's on my bucket list. LOP is 4 days in February. That's the only other Masonic order I'm joining. Or $150 year. All three combined is ~ $50/month dues. I can handle it. If something happens to Anne I need to have some kind of social life.

I've lived with psoriasis all my life, but lately it's gotten worse. I've been using. This ointment I've been using does the trick but it's messy. I asked my pharmacy if there is an oral application instead for Alberta seniors. Yes but it requiers a Doctors script. I'll be looking into that this week. Anyway, that's all for now.

It was 45 years ago

today. I was living at 10241 88th street a few steps away from the Rowland bridge here in Edmonton. I was listening to the radio when I learned the death of John Lennon. I was so overcome with grief, I just about never made it into work that day. I never followed lennon's solo career that much but his presence in The Beatles made a real impact on me. I had my back operation during those days of the Beatles. It took me a few days to get over his death and whenever this date arrives I always think back to those days, in the 80s. R.I.P John Lennon.

Anne and I are going out for our 25th wedding anniversary dinner this afternoon. I got to thinking about that Wednesday afternoon. We were to meet the Judge at 3pm that afternoon. Anne had the car in those days and she drove us out from Capital Place estates, to 9707. It was called Villa Maria at that time. It was snowing outside. Bridget was our witness. She was a friend of mine as well. We picked her up and headed out. The snow turned into a blizzard. I knew we had to be there for 3pm. We headed South along 159th  street. I think we needed to get to the Rio Terrace area. We were driving along 159th street. We couldn’t see the turn off and Anne jumped a meridian just before the 159th Yellowhead overpass. We we’re stranded there a bit but Anne wheeled us in reverse to a nearby home. We never had a cell phone in those days. I knocked on the front door of a nearby home and explained our situation. Bridget called the garage (now called AIM Automotive. I used to deliver the Sun paper in the 80s just behind in that area.  The garage c got Anne’s car. They said it should be ready by 5pm. We got the car, Anne paid on her Visa and we drove Bridget home. That was the last we saw of her. Sadly. After we dropped Bridget off we went to Kelsy’s over there by Red Claw gaming. The rest is history.

After our dinner outing, this week is my place of emplyment is having it's annual staff party. They pay for the whole thing. It starts at 2pm, and over at 5pm. I should be done by 4pm, home by

Saturday, December 6, 2025

Well into December

and no posts. I've been busy with Chapter & Lodge lately, and I want to join Scottish Rite? Its on my bucket list at some point.

It took awhile but we're finally getting into winter here. We had a snow day yesterday and more on the way. I need to get to the pharmacy at Bonnie Doon Mall anyway,  to get to get my finale 2 shots. I'm thinking about getting them today. We'll see. I have my cleats so I'm ok with getting out there in the cold.

Next week is our staff party and we're having it out in the West end. That should be fun. It's one bus ride. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, November 27, 2025

It's been a busy couple of days since

about a week ago. I had Chapter practice Sunday, and Lodge practice which I failed to attend and Lodge last night. Plus Chapter tonight and Lodge instalation practice for our instalation Thursday. Busy.

I've had a Scottish Rite Valley line petition for awhile now and I have spnosor lined up and half of my fee. I'm hoping to join that at the end of February. Anyway, that's all for now.

The highlights of my week

this week has been watching the Edmonton Oilers, on this (so far) disastrous Eastern road trip. They bombed out in Buffalo, on Monday (Flames won against the Sabres the day after) and showed signs of promise in Washington

despite their 4-7 loss. The Capitals scored 2 empty net goals on the Oilers when the score was 4-5 with 2 minutes remaining. If that's not enough The Oilers are playing the Lightning tonight. These guys are exausted. With their 9-9-4 record, its a better home record 22 games in then last year's 9-12-1. Maybe the Oilers will show some signs of life tonight. So much for the exciting life of a poor retired senior.🤣

Today in the US is National Absurdity day. Yes you heard that right. This day was created as a day to recall and note some of the entirely off-the-wall and ridiculous things in history, in our country, and in our lives. Absurdity Day is also a day to have fun and do crazy, zany, and absurd things.

I need to upgrade my cell phone plan. I bought this current pre owned phone last March. It came with bagage from the prvious owner. My current cell phone provider says there is no way I can reduce the prvious owners chat messages despite my phone's. For $20 more I can get a new phone with the same features and larger capacity. I was going to do that this afternoon. I'll wait until tomorrow. Anyway, that's all for now.

I wasn't a big video

gaming fan when game comsoles began to enter my awareness in the 70s. I bought my first computer, in 1987: The Atari 130xe. A year later I bought the Atari ST. In the 90s I bought the Nintendo Entertainment system and had fun with that. Then I got the Sega genesis. I remember Mary from across the hall in my old place before marriage with Anne, coming over and playing the games with me. In the mid 90s I had a 486 generic computer. When mom passed away I bought my first real computer. A Pentium with Windows 95 followed that.

Then I got, another generic computer from one of the guys at Xentel with Windows ME. After that I got a Windows media computer with Windows Xp in 2005. When the Xp went out on me ~2016, I got a Windows pc stick. Then my current and real computer in 2018. That's 7 computers in 31 years.

Not much going on this week. Next week is when it gets busy. 2 practices the same day, same location and on the degree team the same week. Two separate branches of Freemasony. Good thing I keep a callendar. Anyway, that's all for now.

Monday, November 17, 2025

Not much going on

for this week. I never got out to do what I wanted to do Saturday, even I hope to get my RSV and

another shot this week over here at Bonnie doon Mall. Otherwize my week is open. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, November 13, 2025

I'm having a decent

week. I was going to go out earlier this afternoon with Anne and Skippy, but that failed to materialize.

On November 12, 1933, Hugh Gray was walking along the shore of Loch Ness when he saw an "object of considerable dimensions, making a big splash with spray on the surface of the Loch." He had his camera with him, and captured what some believe to be the first photographic evidence of the Loch Ness Monster. Others have dismissed the image as a distortion of a dog swimming through the water

I've been wanting to use my iPad for a Garageband project, but Anne has been using the iPad more then I have lately.  I just recently discovered that Garageband is now availible for windows. Cool. Anyway, that's all for now.

I had a busy couple of days

here, what with lodge and other stuff going on. Speaking of which, wereceived a dump of snow on the ground yesterday. Most of its melted. We're supposed to warm up so that will melt what posckets of snow are left on the ground. Right now we're at:

At the moment its Montreal in the East and underway its BC Lions in Regina to determine the teams in the 2025 Grey cup. Depends on which team wins the West will determine the teams for the Grey cup next Sunday on the 16th

Although I'm not joining another Masonic order, my intention is to finish what I started in Royal Arch. That means Cryptic, which includes Royal Ark Mariner as well. I'm possibly looking at the end of September next year. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, November 6, 2025

Not sure

when I'm bing picked up this evening but I'll drop a line in chat to my brother late this afternoon. After that, nothing until Saturday.

On November 5, 1954, Thomas Manners, responsible for keeping 800 clocks wound, got his smock caught in the mechanism of the great clock in the London Law Courts tower, and was strangled to death by the clock he'd tended for so many years.

I uploaded another Launchpad video from my iPhone. I have 71 views 1 comment 1 like. That was 3 hours ago. Not to bad. No response so far from a related link. Anyway, that's alll for now.

Wednesday, November 5, 2025

it's going to be a slow

day today. Not much to say today as far as my diary goes. No entry. All I got left in the tank is a blog and maybe a Facebook post. We'll see where that goes. My expression right now:

Nine am isn't early for me. I usually wake up about that time anyway. Perfect because higher ups want to do their monthly laptop maintenance. I just have to get up early and let tech  support know, my laptop is ready. I need to be standing by in case they need me to do a restart. Then I can go back to bed.

The only "job" I have is to do Thursday is the music and during the "Empty Chair" ceromony is have my timmer on for a 2 miniute moment of silence, and the "Last Post." That's all loaded and ready to go. After that I have nothing going on over the next 14 days and BoB. Easy peasy. Anyway, that's all for now.

Tuesday, November 4, 2025

My wife is having all kinds of

trouble loading Team viewer on her Windows 10 computer. It keeps failing to install. We think it could be an issue with Windows Firewall. I'll be messing with that later today. We have other options. Last resort, we use my computer for the 2 days/week she needs to work.

November 3rd is a day of remembrance for the prophet St. Malachy, dubbed the "Irish Nostradamus." There was a great panic in Europe over the close approach of a comet, on November 3, 1679.

I didn't watch the Oilers game last night. They we're in Saint Louis and they lost 2-3 against. The Blues. I didn't miss much. Tonight Oilers are in Dallas. I'll follow that one but I think they will lose this one as well.. Zach Hyman is week/by week. Anyway, that's all for now.

Sunday, November 2, 2025

Yesterday was busy

I was up abput 5am, getting ready to head out to BoB. I made good timing to Tims as they were open at 6am. I was at BoB's by 8am. Just Ceryl, Tarrus and myself there, with Merril. I took some photos of the damaged caused by last summers fire at Wyndham crossing. Building B. The whole place was gutted.

Welcome to November, which takes its name from 9th month of the ancient Roman calendar. On this date in 1755, the Great Lisbon Earthquake occurred, which was followed by a tsunami and fires. It was one of the deadliest natural disasters in history with the near-total destruction of Lisbon, Portugal. Geologists estimate the earthquake was close to a magnitude 9 on the Richter scale.

Yesterday I was able to get my Flu/Pnemonia shot. Next Saturday, I go back again, but I need to make an appointment which I will do this week. At that time it's for my RSV. I have one more out of 4. Anyway, that's all for now.

Friday, October 31, 2025

My wife is hard at work with her in bound

call center job. She's taking pizza orders and customer service calls. Lot's of delivery order are late due to it being Halloween. Most of them are late. Crazy.

Held on this day was the ancient Celtic's Samhain harvest feast (the precursor to today's Halloween). The date later became associated with All Hallows Eve, honoring the Christian saints. On this day in 1926, magician Harry Houdini passed over to the Other Side. Every year since then, a Halloween séance has been conducted to try and contact him.

Lately I've been having tremors in my lower left leg. Lewy body dementia: Movement symptoms are common, mirroring Parkinson's disease, and may include stiffness, slow movement, tremors, or a shuffling walk. These can lead to falls. I received a fall at last Chapter meeting. Should I be concerned? I need to get to the Doctors across the street for a consultation and see what's going on. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, October 30, 2025

Not much going on except my mens breafast

on except my mens breafast meeting Saturday morning. I need to get my flue shot at Shoppers drug Mart nearby nearby anyway.

I love Halloween week. The weather channel usually plays some spooky music. This year it's it's rather bland. Hopefully the weather channel has got some feedback and next year, they'll fix this.

Earlier Anne went out to get Chinese food at Red Diamond. Just over here off 82nd. It looked like at one time it was a buffet but Anne didn't see a buffet when she was there . Anyway, that's all for now.

Monday, October 27, 2025

I think that

Sustane ointment I received from the eye clinic Friday, is workinging. The side efffect, however is a slight blurring of vision for about the first hour after I woke up.

Earkier this month I made my first You Tube short from my iPhone. I was using Launcpad. after about an hour, the video earlned a huge amount of views. I was excited. The next day, 180 as views began to taper off after that. I made another short yesterday

from the computer and the aspect ratiion was not the same as from the iPhone. I even added a link to the existing video I took the short from. 60 seconds. An hour later, 5 views. I even added an extensive keyword list to my channel. I think from now on, I'll be making my shorts on my iPhone, and not on the computer. I think that first 180 views was a fluke. I'll make the nessecary changes next Short.

I was supposed to have meeting with Mack and his wife here but we're booiking it for Wedness day in the observation lounge upstairs. Anyway, that's all for now.

Sunday, October 26, 2025

The Sustane

ointment I applied to my lower inside eyelid might have worked. The itch in my left eye is AWOL. I don't think though the itch is from sugar but psoriasis.

I just went and changed my Facebook accout to go from public to friends. This means that only Friends can read my posts and future posts. Unless they have another account and are going in via a friend in cognito. If Don wants to see what I post on Fb, he'll find it empty..

This week I have no outings except a meeting maybe Thursday, and that's here. I do have a breakfast thing early Saturday morning and Lodge Practice next Sunday night. Anyway, that's all for now.

Saturday, October 25, 2025

An update on my

fitbit. It needs an update. My firewall might be the issue or my crappy internet speeds that wont let me do it.

Anyway, I was at my optometrist yesterday and asking about glasses for distance. Those are progressives and might not be a good fit for me because of my cataract operation i had early 2000's. Bifocals might be better. My optical insurance is up for renewal next April.

Our senioirs residence is holding a Halloween costume party next Thursday. Should be a lot of fun. Anway that's all for now.

Wednesday, October 22, 2025

Having a nice day off

before heading out to Chapter tomorrow night and, tomorrow I have an eye appointment. After that I'm connecting with someone from the OTO after that here at my place. Busy couple of days.

My place of employment has another project lined up but mercully I wont be working on it. I'm ok with that as it would compromise my Alberta Pension. 2026 could be my last year doing the job. It's draining on me, and I'm making errors. Plus, Anne said with her job and once I have my debt paid off this Spring, I can retire. Plus, I'll be 74 next year. The other option is when I have my bill paid the new desk and the new computer, I could just work until 75. I like that idea better.

My new podometer seems to be holding up okay however, 2955 with Versa 3 was over 2k in distance. This is saying it's 1.5k. I have another software app on the computer when Versa gave me say 3.5, I'd enter the steps in to get the correct @ I might need to do that in this case Anyway, that's all for now.

Tuesday, October 21, 2025

My fitbit Versa 3

died on me. it wouldn't sync. I think this has to do with my week internet here. So I found this free podometer called Podometer ++. I'll be applying the steps from my Versa 3 watch and using the free podmeter on my iPhone from now on.

Early this morning I was looking for my OTO degree certificates. I looked through the closet. Nothing. Did Anne toss them out? I confronted this with her and she insisted, she kept them. This caused a bit of a melee,

but then I heard her unzip something and there they were. Intact. She placed then in a Teleprompter luggage I had bought and didn't use. She repurposed it. I wanted to show them to my OTO contact when they get here Friday. I'd only join if I can get my 4th degree, and go once a month to the Mass. Again, I don't know yet.

I've got nothing going on today but I'm going to Chapter tomorrow. I have the music ready in AUM for the M.E.M.° Should be a good time. Anyway, that's all for now.

Monday, October 20, 2025

I had a good day

yesterday. I received a text from Chapter asking if I need a ride. He would pick me up shortly afternoon That would be great. I decided because I didn't tell Anne to swap the USB cable from the headphones to use it for the iPad, before she went to bed, the iPad battery was dead. I thought I would bring the iPhone in and get the music from Chapter website. I asked my ride if we cculd we make a side trip to Tims for a coffee. "I'll buy." He picked me up out front here and as we got to the Coliseum Tim's their drive through gate was boarded off. So much for that idea. I messed up the music only because it was difficult to do from a cell phone. I said I'd have the music ready for Thursday. We did practice and a board of General purposes meeting. We were out of there by 2:30pm. I was home shortly before 3pm.

The idea was Anne and I were going out to Mill Creek Rickies. We like this location.

Yeesh. I need a haircut. lol. Not bad though for 73. We had the large breakfast but I wasn't that hungry. At this hour Anne is tired and it shows.

The good news for yours truly is I have 3 days off and no place to go.😀 Friday I have the Iris optical appointment downtown. After that I'm meeting someone from the OTO. Last time I had OTO contact was back in the mid 90's. Should also be a good day.

Saturday, October 18, 2025

We ended up with

8 completes between 3 of us. I got 6 of them. We need 5 more to finish the project. I'm hoping I get some help and we finish this by noon at the latest. It's a 3 hour shift tomorrow.

The Elks playoff chances were dashed in BC last night. 24-37 Lions. The Elks gave up four turnovers in their game last night against the BC Lions. These turnovers included one interception and one forced fumble by the Lions' defense and on turnover by a missed field goal and a turnover on Downs. Farjardo threw 3 interceptions, including a pick 6. This marks the fifth straight season that the Elks have missed the postseason.

I'm not what's going on after Chapter practice Sunday. There may be an inside chance Anne and I are going out to dinner. We'll see. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, October 16, 2025

My lightning/hdmi cable should

be arriving today between 5-9pm. Hopefully, it gets here before I start my shift at 4pm. I can always pause my dialer before I check my door.

I'm starting 4-9pm today. We need ~ 28 more completes. There's only 3 of us on the project. If we have 2 nights like last night, we'd need 4 more completes and we can finish this project by the end of the shift Saturday, which ends at 1pm. I thin we can do it, even though the source is oretty beat up.

The inspector arrived earlier just after 9am. All she did was open the door, stuck her head in sniffed for dog urine, make a note and moved on. Anne was thinking it was a suite inspection. No big deal. Anyway, that's all for now.

Wednesday, October 15, 2025

We got a few more

shifts to complete the project. We're working to Saturday 1pm. Then, that's it for me until after the New year.

We recieved our order for these reading glasses, They are better then anything most local venders can offer. The only issue I have is that they are so fragil. Probably why the glasses arrived as a pair.

I think I ordered the Lightning/HDMI cable Sunday and its Friday. That's better then I expected. The good news is that MFi certified. I only realized this when I saw the order update. Its a happy accident. Anyway, that's all for now.

Sunday, October 12, 2025

At first I thought about

getting a dedicated gaming computer. I like to game but mostly DOS, Retro or online games. Although I'm thinking about getting another handheld that has Onion OS pre installed and or maybe a Steam or Legion Go 2 device. I'm still not sure about any of the above yet.

On this date in 1987, an extensive search for the Loch Ness Monster reached its conclusion. Dubbed Operation Deepscan, the week-long project utilized sonar equipment valued at over one million pounds as well as a fleet of 24 boats. Aside from a few anomalous sonar blips, the expedition ended

with no tangible results to suggest the existence of the creature. It would not be the last massive undertaking to scour the Loch for the infamous beast, as the BBC used a myriad of modern technological devices to look for Nessie in 2003. Much like its predecessor 16 years earlier, this project also failed to yield an answer to the cryptozoological enigma.

Not only did the Elks break the 13 game winning streak against us the Visitors had but the Oilers  won as well. It was a good day for Edmonton sports teams. Also last nights Elks win means our playoff hopes are still in our hands. Anyway, that's all for now.

Saturday, October 11, 2025

When Super announced the shift

was ending at 7pm I was totaly elated. All of us were. An early start to the long weekend. That means 3 days off. We return Tuesday & Wednesday and wrap the project up Wednesday.

Today I have the Elks game at 5pm, an Plus there is WWE Crown Jewel. Plus @ 8pm, there's a Canucks/Oilers game on. Footbal/Hockey/Wrestling/ Should be a fun day  for Jimmy I got to post this and get some shuteye.

Since I began with Blogger I've always had it in standard mode. I asked Google if there is a Dark mode native to Blogger, Sadly there isn't but there is an Edge extention called "Dark Reader." After bed, I'm going to buy this extension. It's only Cad $13. Good deal. Also recently Blogger added an insert a Google search bar right into my post. this could be real handy for me. Anyway, that's all for now.

Wednesday, October 8, 2025

This work project could

last as late as next Friday or a day or 2 after this upcoming weekend. Without this seasonal work, I dont think I could even afford to live here. It would be tight. I probably couldn't do any subscriptions.

Known for his powerful tales of mystery and the macabre, author Edgar Allan Poe died under somewhat mysterious circumstances on this day in 1849, at the age of 40. On October 7, 1977. My favorite story of Poe's is "The cask of Almontillado." Alan Parsons Project did a song about this story.

While I can't say the name of the project I'm currently warking on, I got 7 complete. Which is pretty good. I could see working 3 days/week though. that I could do. My job is casual enough as it is.. Hopefully, we'll be done Friday. Then that's it for me. Anyway, that's all for now.

I thought there was

an Elks CFL football game on today. When actually it's on the 11 next Saturday. I even have it marked in my calendar. weird.

It's a day late but on October 4th 1582 was the last day of the Julian calendar, and the start of the Gregorian calendar as decreed by Pope Gregory XIII. In Italy, Poland, Portugal, and Spain, October 4 was followed directly by October 15.

With the new branded micro 128Gb sd card I'm going to try and reformat the card. It needs to be formated to Fat 32. I'm using Rufus. This is the industry standard for formating sd cards greater then 50Gb. That's my prokect for today. Anyway, that's all for now.

I had my shift that ended

at 9pm last night, sleep and back at it this morning up at 8am for my 10-3pm shift. It's been a busy 24 hours

The weather is certainly changing. At the moment it's +10°C but it feels like +2°

For some reason I thought there was an Elks game on this weekend. but its next weekend. LOL Anyway, that's all for now.

My lodge brother picked me up

last night, shortly after 6pm. Lodge was fun. Because it was an IPM night, it was good to see returning brothers I haven't seen in awhile. It waas good to see Brother Kelly in the East.

I hated to do this but I had to cancel the eye appointment today. I was so wiped out from Lodge, it would have been a struggle to make it through my shift tonight. I'm waiting for a call back to see if there's a better time, around 11-noon next week.

Hard to believe next weekend is Thanksgiving weekend.. For the most part , we're into the low double digit weather paterns. As for tonight & Saturday, I'm working but that's ok. Anyway, that's all for now.

I tried numerous time

calling Rogers this morning at Bonny Doon Mall location. Failed each time. My Amazon tie, order was out for delivery. It was a last minute decsion to dress and get some traveling diet cola, and get that 11:40am bus. I was joined by other seniors waiting for the same bus. We were down there within 10 minutes. Apparently I can't set up auto pay at the store level. I was getting off the bus at 1:15pm for home. In and out.

Riding the elevator with some of the other seniors, I asked if we will have a polling station in our building for the upcoming civic election. They confirmed that to be the case.

When I got home, no Amazon order. It's still out for delivery. With any luck, I'll have a new tie to Lodge. Anyway, that's all for now.

iIt's a new month

October 1st.

This morning is another laptop maintenance event. After that I need to get to Rogers to top up my cell phone account. I tried doing this yesterday but I couldn't get cofirmation. My bank isn't showing any info. Once i get the laptop set up, I'll leave out of here at about 10:40am for Bonny Doon Mall, and get this sorted out. I'll get some take out as well for lunch to have at home. .

It's going to take some creative accounting but if I can swing the fee, I hope to join Scottish Rite Masonry. Edmonton Valley. More specifically Lodge of Perfection. After that The Rose Croix, and then the Consistatory to get my 32°. This is all doable I'm looking at joining in February next year.

The Oilers regular first season game for the 2025-26 season is October 8th. I'll be working that night. Most likely the Oilers will lose that one. I'll follow the scores on my cell phone. As for future games, if I'm not doing anything, I'll watch the games, but I'm not going to go out of my way to watch every single one. Anyway, that's all for now.

We're supposed to be getting a visit

by Mayor candidate Andrew Knack. I think I'll go to the coffee club and hang around. I want to know if we're going to have a polling station here. This is going to be after Coffee Club. 10:30am.

I never did make it to coffee club this morning and the meet and greet. Speaking of which in some parts of the world, it's national coffee day.

And even though this is late news, it was announced last night that Starbucks coffee is closing 100 locations. Four stores will close here in Edmonton.

It's a new week. Thursday my lodge is holding a past masters night. The organizer asked me to do the Chaplin role. Now I'm not sure if that's opening and colsing or just to assume a role? I relearned both opening and closing prayers just in case. I don't see the regular sitting officers vacating their chairs for the night. It's a lot of work for me, because I'm also the "music director" as well. Anyway, that's all for now.

Saturday's shift was

decent. It was a slow day for calling but I got 4 completes. I would have had a 5th complete but the guy bailed on me when I asked him to confirm his postal code. Other then that and my Ring Central volume cut out on me. I had a good shift.

It was on this date in 1989 that two men went over Niagra Falls in a barrel. They weren't the first to attempt the feat, but they were among the first to live. Returning their 888-page findings on.

I missed the first half of the 1st quarter of the Riders/Elks game here at Commonwealth. Score was 1 nill. We got a field goal for 3-1 Then we scored a major. Our D was doing their job. Riders turned the ball over 3 times in Q1! For most of the game it was Elks 11 Riders 4. Then Riders made it 12-11 into the half. After that Elks scored a couple of majors. RIders had 3 QB sacks to our 2. Saskatchewan got the ball to the 1 yard line 25-27. If they got the 2 point conversion, they would have taken the game to OT. They failed to convert. Riders 25-Elks 27. What a game! From what commentary was saying, the Elks had the most QB sacks of any team in the league! Wow. 43 to be exact. So fat it's been a good weekend.

I had my music

qued and ready but in the wrong order. I labeled the channel's in AUM and have them in order for next time. I was not able to make ractice last Sunday, due to the Valley line LRT off line. I could have taken the #53 from Capilino mall as the #501 Davis was still running. I'll be able to get the music for the next degree, and attend practice.

Apparently the Artimis 2 moon mission is slated for a possible February launch. The 4 person crew are not going to land on the moon but to orbit the moon to establish a test run and launch "Gateway." As I understand this the next capsule will connect with Gateway. Gateway will help land the crew onto the moon. That's Artimis 3 which is about 2 years away.

Anne bought me a Tims breakfast yesterday for my lunch before work. I'll be waking Anne up at about 3pm. I'll be powering  up the laptop, headphones in place. I admit due to my vision I have some anxiety I can do the job. When I get Anne up we're going to try for some more drops in my left eye before I begin the shift, Anway, that's all for now.

My vision was improved significantly

yesterday. I'm still going to finish the bottle 3 times/day. This Friday would be one week.

So earlier today it was annouced that Our PM's bank assount's personal information was hacked, Was it an international terroirst group, a lone wolf? Actuallyit was an inside job by a bank employee. I wounder what group he was working for?

Usually when people block me on Face book, that's the end of it. I was surprised when I discovered that this person is following me. I need to block him there then. Anyway, that's all for now.

No improvement

with my vision. I don't think these drops were made to clear out the debris on my Cornea. I think the drops were made to do something else. Upon the eye drop follow up the Optometristmight refer me to an Ophthomoligist.

Happy Birthday, Typhoid Mary-- born on Sept. 23, 1869. The Irish immigrant, a "healthy carrier" of typhoid fever, unwittingly spread the deadly disease around New York while working as a cook. If you think our pandemic quarantine was bad, poor Mary Mallon was kept isolated for over 23 years after her infectiousness was discovered..

I'm at Chapter tomorrow. I'm doing the music for a degree. More like playing the music. I begin work. on Friday. Not sure how well I'll do, as my vision or lack there of could compromise me doing the project. Anyway, that's all for now..

I missed Chapter practice at 1pm

today due to Valley line LRT maintenance. I probably could have made it but bus service (if not a main kine) is kind of hit and miss on Sundays anyway. Not a nice thing for Marigold to do for all the Fan Expo SFF people today. I jest of course, lol

I'm out again tomorrow for my 2pm PCN foot nurse appointment on Fort Road:

Hopefully that bus stop by the overhead light stabd will be open instead of the bus making a turn by the street out of left frame.

After that^I have no place to go to for 3 days, then hopefully these drops will improve my vision enough where I can do the project comfortably. This project alonewill just about streatch my hour quota limit for the year anyway. The clock will start again in January.  Anyway, that's all for now.

Saturday, September 20, 2025

Yesterday I was givin a script

for eye drops. The optometrist said I have some debris on my Cornea. I have to take these 3 times/day or until the bottle is empty the go in for a follow up. I hope there is an improvment between now and next Friday when I start the job.

This weekend we're having Fan Expo. Its at the Edmonton Expo centre. Our Fan Expo is not as popular as the Toronto one. They get better guests there. Author Timothy Zahn was there. I remember the old Non Con conventions we had at the Edmonton Inn durring the 70s-80s. it was small but aniticipated.

Chapter practice is tomorrow. I'm doing the music for a degree. That's if I can get there. The Valley line LRT is off line for annual service annual service maintenanc but there are replacement buses but I need to get to Capilino mall, and on a Sunday, bus service is hit and miss most of the time. Anyway, that's all for now.

I'm heading out

of here at 2:30pm tomorrow for my eye appointment. I'm investigating the possibility of getting Yag laser vitreolysis. Eye floaters. However I need a basic eye exam first of all. Hopefullly I can get good news about this at the exam.

Anne and I went out to Rickies, Mill Creek location because its close bye. We had the 2 by five brunch and instead of toast pancakes.

That was a big breakfast. It was a nice outing. Anne and I exchanged keys/bus passes, so I can use my door so she could go on to Walmart in Capilino mall. Anyway, that's all for now.

We're back to more seasonal

weather patterns here in Central Alberta. I can take the heat in small doses. +12°-+23°C is perfect for my comfort zone weather wise. I was born in Vancouver British Columbia lower mainland (greater Vancouver area). As much as I love Edmonton, if I could afford to live in the Tri cities area (New Westminster/Coquitlam/Burnaby, I would in a heartbeat. Still supporting Edmonton Elks/Oilers teams.👍

I digress. I mention the above climate because flue shot season is around the corner. I dont know what the exact number is/or was but last year the Alberta Government spent hundreds of millions of dollars on Covid shots that we're not used due to Covid apathy. So now Covid shots need to be ordered, call #881 for more  informatiom. Since we're in a seniors residence and I'm Type 1 diabetic, I get my Covid shot for free. Children are free, seniors in care facilities and low income seniors is free, (I think) everyone else it's Cad $100. This makes sense. Flue shots are free and availible at Shoppers Drug Mart/Rexal free.

I've been waffeling on installing the Onion OS on my Miiyou + handheld for a long time now.. I've watched several You Tube guides. I decided to try and install Onion. I have the Sunshine app on my computer. I double checked to confirm the sd card is Fat32. I use Rufus for this. I tried following one guide, nothing. I tried following several guides, nothing. It could be the non braned sd card, or something I'm missing in Rufas. Anyway, that's all for now.
