Last night was pub night

in the main lounge. Pop a $1 beer $5. Anne was passing by the greeter by the door. The greeter invited her inside but Anne declined because she had her groceries in tow. At a glance there looked like 150 people there Anne said. There's always something going on here. Even afternoon tea this Saturday but that's competing with Summerslam and the Elks game.

On this date in 1930, the radio mystery program The Shadow aired for the first time. On July 31, 1954, an official announcement was made by researchers that Los Angeles smog was caused by the chemical reaction of sunlight on auto and industrial emissions. And on this day in 1964, the first close-up photographs of the moon were sent back to Earth by Ranger 7. Anyway, that's all for now.

Yesterday I woke up to blurred vision. Even worse then before. Anne suggested it's eye strain. I dont see it being much more then that. When I was at the Edmonton eye clinic last month, they tested for Glucoma, no diabetic damage to the eyes. They even gave me an OCT scan, and upon leaving they gave my vision a clean bill of health. Anyway, that's all for now.

At first I thought

Putin is striking us with cruise missiles. Better ask Google, WTF is going on over the skies of Edmonton today. No cruise missiles , just the good ol' Canadian Snowbirds putting on an air show.

What a relief. I don't thinkeven Putin is that crazy.

Lately after I wake up in the morning, I've been experiencing a sharp pain in my left eye. My vision got a clean bill of health from the Edmonton eye clinic. No Glucoma. The OCT scan came back negative. Google suggests this could be eye strain, nothing more.

This weekend is WWE Summerslam Weekend. It starts 1pm Saturday, Sunday. Add to that, Hamilton Tiger Cats (CFL) plays Elks here at Commonwealth@1pm. I'll be bouncing back and fourth between wrestling and football. Sounds like a good time. Anyway, that's all for now.

Anyway, I got us a membership card

to the community league. I'm interested in their crib nite for cribbage. I love playing crib. I wish there was an organized seniors crib or and chess groups here. I'd like that.

There was one person in the main floor lounge when I went to the community league meeting. She said her name was Dee. I said I had enough on my plate between lodge etc. She held out her hand and she was wearing a Masonic. Ring. She told me her husband that passed a few months ago was a Freemason and she was in the womans arm of Freemasonry. She had some friends of hers she wanted to sit with and excused herself. I later learned of the "Hadaf women's Masonic group" refers to the Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons (HFAF), which is a women-only Masonic organization. It's also known as Freemasonry for Women. HFAF was founded in 1913 and has a network of lodges in the UK, Romania, Spain, Gibraltar, India, and the US. HFAF focuses on friendship, inspiration, and empowerment for women through Masonic principles and practices. It's not part of the United Grand Lodge of England. There are several HFAF bodies here in Canada but nothing in Western Canada. Interesting.

Happy Birthday, NASA! In response to the Soviet's 1957 launch of Sputnik, the US Congress passed legislation on this date in 1958 to establish a civilian agency coordinating America's space exploration.

On July 29, 1947, a gas leak explosion in a beauty parlor caused the death of 10 women in Harrisonburg, VA. Anyway that's all for now.

I got all my meds

for the next 3 months. $95. Good thing I had some cash saved. I don't mind getting them at the Shoppers Drug Mart in Clareview. I have 5 meds Anne is picking up for me.

Today, @ 2pm the local Community leage is in the main floor lounge to give a talk about what services they provide and they will be giving out free memberships. I'm going to get one for both Anne and myself. Anne says if they have to have her there to get one, I'll go upstairs to get her. We're hopng they have other programs this place can't cover. Anyway, that's about all for now.

So now, I have my Fitbit

app are all synched up with my iPad pro and my iPhone 11 to my Versa 3 watch. However, my iPhone step counter is not lined up with my watch.

Lizanne Wilmot climbed her Victorian-style bicycle in Burnie, Tasmania, and broke the Guinness World Records for the fastest speed on a penny farthing (female) and fastest 1 kilometer on a penny farthing (female). Wilmot rode the 1 kilometer (. 62 mile) distance in a time of 52.75 seconds.

We've got a couple of warm days this week but nothing to be concerned of so far its been a nice summer. Lots of rain. Anyway, that's all for now.

Not a lot going on right

now. Anne is about to head out to No Frills Saturday night), get some milk, and a Lotto Max (extra) for me and some cash back including 5 toonies so I can go to the "coffee club" during the week. $2 gets a coffee and a donut/muffin, and mingle with the other seniors. As a resident here, one needs to be carefull what one says because there is a lot of gossip going around. Us old people you know😎Not me. I don't participate in gosip. I don't really want to make friends around here because as soon as you meet and get to know somebody, they die off. Nature of the beast as it were. We had a yard sale but I got caught up in other things.

On this date in 1931, farmers in the American Midwest saw their crops destroyed by a massive swarm of grasshoppers. The insect collective was so big that it allegedly blocked out the sun and devoured entire fields of crops. In a related incident, in Saint Albert has a grasshopper infestation. You can read about it here.

Speaking about the Lotto Max ticket, when at Capital Place, we never won anything more then $10 bucks at a time oor a free ticket to play again.. Now that we're in a seniors residents, I doubt that will change. Not that I'd make announcement about it though. Anyway, that's all for now.

About 1:30 this morning we had

an impressive light show. Lots of thunder lightning and rain. It got so bad our power was shut off for a few minutes before it was restored. It was a brief blackout. Previous to that yesterday afternoon a woman in the Callingwood area got struck by lightning. She's recovering in the hospital. I haven't heard of any serious issues around the city and area.

There could be more details during city news later.

Last night the Elks were at Mosiac Stadium playing the 6-1 Riders in Saskatchewan. For a bit the score was tied at 1 for almost the first quarter. Then we pulled ahead 4-1 and the 2nd quarter it was 10-4 Riders into the half. It was 24-4 Riders at the end of the 3rd Quarter. I said "screw this," and went onto the computer and followed the game in another tab. In the 4th Quarter we scored 2 majors. 14 points. We got a game I can watch. It was 18-21 with just under 2 minutes to spare. The Riders sacked Fajaro (qb) twice in the 4th Q as the Home team just ate up the clock for the win. Close but no cigar. Anyway, that's all for now.

If you have been following my Facebook

page you might have noticed I'm a wrestling fan. It was sad news hearing about the death of Hulk Hogan. I grew up watching wresting at 18 years old. In 1971, BC (BCTV) TV Studios in Burnaby was indeed the production location for the wrestling show, NWA All-Star Wrestling. Ron Morrier was the original host of the show, which began airing in 1962 and continued until 1989. The show was a popular fixture in Canadian television, showcasing various wrestling personalities and matches. The studio was lucky if they had 100 people watching. The shows were like Cad $2. Hulk Hogan to the best of my knowledge never wrestled for NWA He did, however, wrestle in Canada for promotions like Maple Leaf Wrestling and Stampede Wrestling, which were affiliated with the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). While he wasn't part of NWA All-Star Wrestling specifically, he did compete in other NWA territories in Canada. I never noticed Hulk Hogan until WWE.

I seem to vaugly remember this as this was the yar after Black Friday here in Edmonton. From Coast to Coast: The largest ice cream sundae in the Milky Way weighed in at 54,914 lbs (9,688 in syrup) at Edmonton, Canada (1988).

Female pilot Joann Osterud set the inverted flight record on this date with an upside-down flight of 4 hours and 38 minutes (1991). Hopefully this link works.

I usually create these posts the day before and publish them after midnight the next day. Thursday, I'm just chillin and relaxing. Not much going on.

It's 1:30am here Friday. Huge thunder. lighning. Lots of rainAnyway, that's all for now.

Yesterday I got 3

nuisance calls, then the Telus installer calls, saying his ETA is ~ 10 miniutes. Then the fire alarm drill goes off for the whole building. This is the annual practice drill the office mentioned when we signed our lease. Perfect timeing as we're expecting Telus. I thought this was going to be like Wyndham alarm goes off on a whim 2.0. I'm following Anne out the side exit to the front and dozens of seniors were. No fire trucks stand by ambulances, nothig. Office staff were taking names against suites. Later Anne said the checking of suites against the list were because for those not participating, they'd get a note under the door.

Telus finally showed up. The gave us a new PVR and Anne was able to keep her recorded shows etc. Also we had the splitter connecter in the wrong outlet. We got that working now.

Also, we had the dual phone splitter in the wrong outlet. Every time when we recieved an incoming call after we pick up my TV show gets dissconnected for about 10 minutes. The work around would be to scroll to find an active channel Get that then go back to my show. Thank God I don't need to do that anymore.

Also, when Telus was here he had to go to the truck to get something. He used the intercom (now working) It says Providers name. Press 6 on the phone, lets them in. Cool. The other place would have charged us a monthly fee. Anyway, that's all for now.

Telus never showed up and the worst is

they never followed up to rebook the appointment. No email, nothing. We had to do it ourselves. So we have them between 1-3 tomorrow. I hope.

From Coast to Coast: The Reverend William Archibald Spooner was born on today's date in 1844. The lecturer became known for what are now called 'spoonerisms,' slips of the tongue where the consonants of words are reversed. One of his flubs was issued as he officiated at a wedding: "Son, it is now kisstomary to cuss the bride."

Infill housing is a hot topic in here. Redidents don't like it because the units are too tall and there could be 8 families in one unit. Critics don't like infill housing because the units are not in character with the neiborhood. Where are 8 families supposed to park vehicals? Also, to
many people in the neiborhood can cause infrustructure integraty and over crowding. So City council has proposed 6 families and reduced the height of infill housing units. I agree Edmonton needs to build up but not in residential established neiborhoods. We have (as of this writing) lots of locations in the downtown core, that have been empty lots for decades. The Arlington location has been empty for years. City council is supposed to revist the infill housing situation before the municiple election. Ooops. video wont play. Anyway, that's all for now.

At about noon today

it was +11°c yesterday afternoon on a cold mid month day in July. We had spotted showers all da

Today we're having a service call from our Internet Service Provider. Anne's having trouble with our PVR as it won't record my wifes shows. Hopefuly we'll get this resolved today and an issue with our phone. Anway, that's all for now.

I've been having some issues

with my Steam game account. Sometime in 2020 as my then computer hard drive was running on fumes (space wise) I was purging this computer by megabytes. I bought a 2Tb m.2 ssd back in 2022 and upgraded the RAM. Fast forward to present day and ffter a bit of fiddling this afternoon, Steam is back up and running smoothly. I want to start playing some Indy games and streaming them on my gaming channel. Copyrite claim not withstanding of course.

For some reason I thought the Elks played today but the game is this Friday in Saskatchewan.

I'm getting a crash course in Hermes Trismegistus. It's very interesting stuff. The Hermetica was before the Bible or Quran. Of course since the Quran came later then even Constantine. Anyway, that's all for now

Sunday, July 20, 2025

Tomorrow at 5pm 😀

The 1-4 Edmonton Elks will host BC lions at Commonwealth. Last year the Elks record was 4-14. Not good. Hopefully we can do better this year. The game starts at 5pm.

This came across my feed recently: In 1994, Susan Williams set a Guinness World Record for bubblegum-blowing with a 23 in-wide (58 cm) bubble. Susan had tricks and tips to blowing bubbles as big as she did, called the "Susan "Mont-Gum-ery" Williams technique, which she would say proudly before blowing her world record bubbles.🤔hmm.

I haven't been posting anything on my YouTube channel in awhile. It's not due to inspiration, but I'm just taking the summer off.

Plus getting older I don't have the energy like I used to have. The Elgato Green screen I bought last September hasn't even been used. I'll get to it eventually. Anyway, that's all for now.

After the Star Ocean

game was moved to a folder in what I thought was the proper folder (snes). 💭I better make sure. After a brief online search. Nope, it's Play station 2. Then I watched a video on how to use Retro bat. Something about BIOS files. I followed as best I could. I need to watch another video.

It's ~ 2:15pm as I write this and we're getting a nice summer rain in July.

Last year we had 8 days +30° or more. There's still lots of July left so when we get days like this, it's a blessing

A few days ago it was "World emoji day. Why is there an emoji for July 17? Because that's the date the calendar emoji shows. Originally, only Apple's calendar emoji displayed July 17, which can be traced back to the day in 2002 when Apple introduced its desktop calendar app. Anyway, that's all for now

Friday, July 18, 2025

Last week I had made

contact with the Scotish Rite Edmonton Valley. This is easier for me to do mainly because I don't think I can do elaborate physical degrees anymore. But this I can do. At first I told my contact I'd like to wait for a bit  for personal reasons, but I'll be contacting my contact around November. Also, I don't need to join a Canadian Rite body to become a member of SR.

This was my second main concern. I'll be doing part one, etc. One at a time.

I've seen some game play on You Tube and the story looks engaging .

I'd like to start with the first game but there doesn't seem to be any game play.

July 17, 1933, pilot Douglas "Wrong Way" Corrigan took off on a flight from New York to California, but ended up flying overseas to Ireland, due to what he claimed was a navigational error.

I had a nice relaxing day today. I didn't go out anywhere and or spend any money on an app. Anyway, that's all for now.

We went out to Yang Ming

Yesterday. It was a Chinese food buffet by Abbottsfield Mall. Anne wanted to take the scenic route. I don't hate food but I don't order take out as well, but Anne wanted to try it. I liked the chicken balls, bornless por, white rice. Anne had to get me a plate as we for got yhe walker. Yang Mings has this

serving robot on wheels. It just came back from singing "happy birthday" to some people.

We had a mix of different flavoured Ice cream. I sampled some of Anne's Gree tea and buble gum ice cream. It was really good. This will probably be a once a year outing for us. It was $31 a plate. The experience was good, food kind of meh. There were a lot of people there. Place is well managed it seems. Next time I'll bring my walker. Anyway, that's all for now.

Wednesday, July 16, 2025

Tuesday morning I answered an in

comming call. I answered. "Hello?" Nothing.. I hung up. Ok. I get another call a few minutes later. "Hello? Who is this?" The voice said, "I'm your grand daughter." I knew it was a scam. "Nice try, scammer. I don't have a Grand daughter." I hung up. I should have asked the scammer: "Do you know my name?" Something to that affect. I went to my television and looked for caller history, it read "Private."  Yeah no kidding. I could have had fun with the call but the scamer knows they are messing with the wrong guy.

About 1pm the AC installer installed our AC in our bedroom window. We have our window screens on the inside keeping bugs etc out.. Not that we get that many hot days. This is good for me. I don't like warm weather

I thrive in +14°-+24°in that range area. That works for me, all year around.

Just before we moved in here I contacted the agency that workd with the Alberta Government about my compression stockings. They said I would need to go in for another medical assesment. They do this every 2 years, to see if my condition improved. They said that it would take 4-6 months before they can set up a time for me. They called this afternoon (yesterday). So I booked it for August 14th 1pm. I recorded it in my callendar.. If all goes well these patched up stockings I've been using for the last year, will be history and I could get a new pair end of next month, instead End of April 2026. Anyway, that's all for now.

Tuesday, July 15, 2025

I'm having a great night

Just mucking about at home. I want to get back to work asap, and hopefully, even if it's for one project, I'd be ok awith that.

The Icarus job is moving along nicely. Book 4 is: "The Icarus Changeling." Under $8.25. I'm tempted.

The AC installer is going to be here between noon and 4pm. Hopefully we can get that sorted out. We could be in for some more +30° days and more coming up. Not sure yet. Anyway, that's all for now.

Calgary Stampeders were

@Mosiac Stadium playing the Riders. Stamps 24-10 puts Calgary first in the West. lts see how the Elks do tomorrow. That game was supposed to be played Friday night but forest fire smoke caused the game to be delayed unil Saturday. As for the Elks, they host BC Lions Sunday 5pm. I'll be watching that one.

K-Days 2025 is introducing a variety of bold and unusual food options, including sweet and savory combinations and global fusion dishes. Expect to see items like pickle-dusted mini doughnuts, ramen noodle burritos, and cowboy candy mango soft serve on the menu, alongside more familiar favorites with unexpected twists. Too weird for me.

I'm not having much success installing Onion OS on my mii yoo mini plus. I'm going to try and get the sandisk 128Gb Ultra micro sd card. If that doesn't work, I don't know. Anyway, that's all for now.

Friday, July 11, 2025

We finalley got the

notice for the AC work order. Maintenance will be paying us a visit to install the AC, Tuesday. Good stuff.

Happy Birthday, Nikola Tesla -- the pioneering inventor, electrical engineer, and scientist was born 169 years ago, during a fierce lightning storm in what is now Croatia. Grok that Leon!

Having our CA installed Tuesday means maybe Anne and I can go out for our monthly outing Wednesday. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, July 10, 2025

Every guide I've seen on You

Tube always makes a claim for using a branded micro sd card when installing Onion OS for my MiiYoo mini+. The sd card I have even though the card has been formated, and the Onion OS files are on the card, my device fails to read them. I know my sd card is properly formated so the only thing is left is, you guessed it: A branded micro sd card. Non Prime Amazon has them for $22 for a 128Gb San disk as I've seen every guide on You Tube use them. However, that order won't be going out until the end of the month.

Our AC instalation work order has yet to be completed. This was last Thursday. We don't expect this to be handled until month end the way things are going. Anyway, that's all for now.

Wednesday, July 9, 2025

I got up before my 9am alarm

due to it being monthly laptop maintenance Wednesday. So far according to the screen there is no activity. Sometimes it takes awhile. I have some masking tape over the webcam for privacy reasons.

Petitioning for afiliate membership in a Canadian Rite lodge has been something I've been wanting to do for awhile now. I'm going to shoot out an email to our secratary requesting a copy of my membership card. Affiliation is more affordable then full membership. There is this Saturday lodge I like and some of the members know me. Plus, it's late enough that it doesn't conflict with BoB earlier on a Saturday. The affiliate lodge might conflict with my monthly breakfast gathering but the monthly breakfast lodge is usually much later. The point of all this is to join a Lodge of prefection etc and going foraward obtain my 32° before the year is out.

Still no word from maintenance regarding our AC instalation. Anne insists that there is a 24 hour notice when they will get here. For a service call? Anyway, that's all for now.

Monday, July 7, 2025

That was quite the game last

night. Elks scored 2 majors in the 1st Quarter. There were 2 kick returns to score. At the half it was 17 Ottawa, 22 Elks. There were 2 turnovers, one per each team. Finale was 33 Visitors 39 Elks Next Sunday week 6 BC lions, Elks. BC won the other night in Montreal. Lets hope we can make it 2 in a row.

I hope to finish this book by the end of the week and move onto something else:

Not saying I'm not enjoying the series, I am but I have other books I want to get into.

Tonight I'm watching Monday night Raw, and doing my steps. I did 3.12k's worth yesterday. Last week i ended up with 20.64k or an average of 2.94k/day. Anyway, that's all for now.

Sunday, July 6, 2025

Yesterday i woke up about

11:30am. I did bassicaly nothing all day, except watching You Tube video, Facebook & reading.

Yesterday July 5 boasts a somewhat dubious birthday: Spam. On this date in 1937, Hormel Foods introduced the unique meat product to the world. The curious food with the strange name went on to acquire cult status, inspiring a Monty Python sketch and musical, Spamalot, a book of haikus about Spam, and not one, but two festivals devoted to celebrating the product.

My highlight of today will be watching the Elks host Ottawa Red Blacks @ Commonwealth & doing my steps, you tube. I love summer. Anyway, that's all for now.

Saturday, July 5, 2025

Not much going

in the next 24 hours. The highlight of my day yesterday was watching Smackdown and getting my mail. Exciting huh?

Even though the Amazon compression stockings I've been wearing recently have been holding up ok, no way are they 30-40 compresion ratio. The pair before these were patched at the heals because in my use case, that's usually where the material becomes worn down to expose skin. So we're back to the patched ones. I could buy a new pair but at $100/pair I'd also need a Doctors script. My next AADL authorization is 5 months away.

At this moment with a 0-3 can the Elks get their first win on Sunday? So far we're 0-3. The only team in the CFL that hasn't won yet. While the league has not officially discussed closing a team, financial instability and declining interest could create a situation where a team can no longer sustain operations. Only 2 teams so far have turned a profit. No need to panic just yet. Anyway, that's all for now.

Friday, July 4, 2025

Yesterday Anne went to the office to

show what she wanted done with the AC. They said based on what she showed them, they could set it up for us including plexiglass. The window screen is on the inside of the frame. I had to co sign a work order but because it's a Friday today they won't be able to do this until early to mid next week. We're getting a heat wave for Tuesday/Wednesday. Hopefully they will get here Monday.

With the exact information I was able to get an online Astrology chart. I don't want to use this for any divination or anything like that.

The Elks are hosting Ottawa FC Sunday It's a 5pm game. Speaking of football. Keeping with the football theme, Edmonton's own Arctic Pride womens football was in the news today. The Western Womens CFL Arctic Pride Are getting some traction. I hopeit's a success. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, July 3, 2025

Our local weather is mor comfortable @

+17°. What with the heat on hereand the central AC going, why the AC hasn't been shut down for the Summer? IDK.

I'll be having last nights Royal Pizza for "lunch" ~ 5pm ish for us.

These are early days but I'm trying to get myself an astrology chart, while I have this time off. I'm sure there are services to accomplish this online. I've been wanting to do this years ago but the only thing holding me back was getting my time of birth and now that I have time off, this is could be an interesting side project. Back in 2023 I ordered my birth records from the department of vital stats. I had the sense to write down the time of my birth in my calendar: 11:08am. I was mom's first child. I'll be playing with this tonight, and bouncing around email, you tube, reading my book, steps etc. Anyway, that's all for now.

Wednesday, July 2, 2025

It's 7:45pm

and we seldom get +30°C this time of night even during summer. Even the day after Canada Day.

Including the humidex it was more like +32°C. Anne and I went to the observation lounge on the 8th floor and it was a bit more comfortable. We're suposed to get some lightning activity and light rain latter. I swaer to god, we got about 4 fans running here.😀

Today Alberta created it's own Police force called Alberta Sheriffs Police Service. Headquarters in Calgary. This is not meant to replace the RCMP🤔but to provide police services service to rural Alberta where the RCMP is lacking presence. On the surface this is a good idea. Most likely IMO this is a move to appeal to the Alberta separatists fringe group.

We've had our floor AC sitting idle since we moved in. With the building AC making it so hot in here and this current heat wave provided Anne inspiration to have our AC installed. We just need to see if it's compatible with the building's electrical system. Once that's done, Anne's going to get some plexiglass from Home depot or something, take out the screen mounted on the inside and install and maybe taped. Anyway, that's all for now.

Tuesday, July 1, 2025

This evening

about 10:30 we're going to the observation lounge to watch the Canada day fireworks.

Not much going on this week. Actually I'm taking July off from (unless something comes up) health related excursions and Lodge related activities. No outings. Nothing. I want to enjoy summer, without running around. I just want to stick close to home; read, you tube etc, CFL football, eat cheese doodles, get my steps in.

I think AADL might want to hall me in to do some testing on my leg circulation. When I last spoke with anyone they said 4-6 months. That won't be until around September or November. Happy Canada day everyone. That's all for now.

Monday, June 30, 2025

I had a nice relaxing day

yesterday. I relearned about pranayama yoga from Lon Milo Duquette (Baba lon), yesterday. I need to get his Tarot deck, because my Thoth Tarot deck is a collectors (to me) item and I need something a bit smaller. I have a few places here in town where I'm going to enquier if they stock Duquette's Tarot deck. Or a smaller Thoth deck for working purposes. Or something similar. Baba Lon places (The Universe) card in his pocket while doing pranayama. It's a neat exrcise. I'll be making a few phone calls today.

I'm about to start July's calendar for tomorrow. Speaking of which tomorrow is Canada day. Elbows up. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Sunday, June 29, 2025

The bgp meeting was really good

as we had ~ 12-15 members were in attendence. Also Rickies took our orders right where we were. I ordered the ham and egg omelette with cubed hash browns and coffee. Nathan had the same. We covered a lot of grownd and were done by 1pm. Our SD offered me a ride home, which was damn nice of him. It was a warm day out there heading to the SD truck. I showed him my building as we went by and asked him if he go a bit further to Bonny Doon mall. I thanked him on arrival.

I needed to have my cell phone account topped up as I can't recall how I did it online. The clerk @ Rogers got that set up for me. I asked about a cell phone upgrade as I'm using an iPhone 11. It might be running 3G which most serivice providers are retiering 3G soon. The recent iPhone has greater memory capacity, 5G and has a USB C port for charging etc. The cell phone is C $65 up from my. The difference is $28. Or $336/year.

Outside. by the South Entrance I saw some seniors waiting for a bus. I was fixiated on the #525 for some reason but there was a senior from our building as I coud tell by the blue entrance fob on her key chain. I called bus link #311 and my bus was an hour away. The lady said she was waiting for the #524. I decided to take the train home and as soon as I aproached the entrance here was the senior exiting off the bus waited the #524. Note to self: Get the #524 next time.

I'm taking the week off from outings this week. I'm going to call my Doctors office to see if I can book an appointment. I was given 2 forms to fill out but they had got lost in the move. I'm calling Friday for next week.. Anyway, that's all for now.

Saturday, June 28, 2025

I'm up at

about 8am for the "Board of General Purposes" meeting. At least I get a ride there, even though I'll be taking the bus back. to Clareview and train home. The meeting is at 10am. We should be done by noon, I should be home before Anne gets out of bed.

Next week, I'm not going anywhere. no doctors appointments, nothing.

Sunday I need to (by phone) contact my cell phone service provider and pay my bill. I forgot how to do that by phone. Anyway, that's all for now.

Anne & I went

out to the Chapter BBQ. It was nice. The chicken was a bit on the processed side. We had more visitors then members. The 2 couples we sat with we're both interested RA prospects. I wasn't impressed that the pop wasn't free like our Lodge BBQ.

Tomorrow its the BGP meeting as Nathan in Fb chat said he'd pick me up about 9:30am but I'd be shooting Merril a message in chat saying that I'm engaged in another meeting and that I'll be back in September for BoB. I'll have to find my own way back from the BGP meeting, but that's easy to do. I'll take the #54 back to Clareview and the Capital line train, etc. As for today/evening, I'm home andtaking it easy.

In one of Tech Dweeb's videos today he showed how Retro games (In public domain) can be downloaded on a USB thumb drive and with an emulator can be played on just about any Windows Machine. Anyway that's all for now.

We hope to be out of here

by 5:30 this afternoon for our Chapter BBQ. Hopefully we wont get any afternoon showers on our way. I'm bringing my cell phone along so I can keep track of the Elks/Bombers game.

We had a massive Thunder storm/cell pass through here yesterday about 4pm. By 4:45pm it was all but over. Hopefully we'll be able to avoid all of that.

We're going to be having Pub night tonight downstairs in the main lounge and a guitar player. The Theme is Canada day. The event will be ending at around 10pm-ish. Maybe there will be enough time to get a cold one and head upstairs. Tomorrow is coffee club in the main lounge. Anyway, that's all for now.

Mac chicken strips

and a potato patty, was my dinner last night. I don't mind dinners like that.

Not much going on for today. A bit of a myster solved yesterday. I've often seen in Hermetic circles this symbol  displayed. I've always wondered how this was done. Google said" press numb lock press Alt and 8756 ∴ I can't do that here. Unless I CP in Libre Office Writer 😀excellent.

The Leelaverse has her Art show on @ 3pm. It being Wednesday the coffee club downstairs starts at 9am. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. For 1 Dollar you get a cup of coffee and a donut or muffin. It's a nice touch. I haven't been down there yet. I haven't even been to the court yard or basement. Anyway, that's all for now.

So far Chapter BBQ Thursday is a

go. If we get offered a ride, no problem. If not, no problem. The Coliseum bus is about every 20 minutes.

Lon Milo Duequette yesterday talked about catalyst events that shape our lives. I've had several: The Beatles, Scoliosis 1968; Star Wars movie 1977, moving to Edmonton, Army & Navy wearhouse, SCA & OTO, Ellen, Edmonton Oilers, Advance Squad Leader game, death of John Lennon, 1987 Tornado, Dad and mom passing & marriage, Freemasonry, iPad music production, moving into a seniors residence, Royal Arch.

I didn't get much done yesterday. Just a bit of reading from "Icarus Job". Anyway, that's all for now.

Anne took our cat Skippy

to the vet for her monthly shot, and to pick up some pop on the way back.

I'm still kind of luke warm about going to the Chapter BBQ Thursday. It depends on if Anne wants to come with me or not. I'll call Perry the night before. I'll site family situatiion, type thing, which has been the case lately.

Sometime in July I want to go to our new family Doctor up there by Londonderry mall area. I need a few forms and a perscription for compression stockings. The forms got lost.

During our last Saturday emergent meeting we had a brief board of General purposes meeting. It was just a few of us by the scratary's desk. I added my 2 cents worth. Not much more I can say to it then that. This frees me up for another event I'd like to attend that morning. Anyway, that's all for now.

This week my bank introduced a

2 factor authentication 6 digit code, delivered by voice over the phone. I tried several times to get the online banking app to accept the code. No dice. I spent a good hour with my bank trying to reset my phone number to my cell phone. It was suggested to go to my local branch where they coud deactivate the authenticator code at the branch level. I tried again after dinner, and this time I got it accepted😀

My birth Tarot card from the Major Arcana is #19. The Sun. The Sun card is the embodiment of great joy of life, vitality, warmth and confidence. It also means the enlightening power of consciousness, with which we get a clear picture and overcome our troubles, irritating factors and our ghostly fears. It gives you youthful freshness and a feeling of rebirth. It symbolizes the sunny side of life. At a deeper level of interpretation, he calls for us to overcome the darkness, unfold our sunny nature, redeem our dark brother or sister, helping the light. Works for me. Anyway, that's all for now.

It was a easy day

today. Not a lot going on. Mostly just bouncing between You Tube, Face book, email.

I watched Smackdown (wrestling) I went down to the main floor just to get a change of venue, and to drop off a card that came with the 2 gift cards we received eariler. Signing up for a newsletter, outings and events here, that sort of thing. No mail. Not even junk mail.

I've got one of Tech Dweeb's video's qued up on Dos games how to set up emulators for Windows. Mos ot these Dos games are in the public domain. Some are free. Anyway, that's all for now.

Last nights Elks home opener at

Commonwealth Stadium started off good with Elks opening the scoring with a field goal. Then another. it was all Montreal after that. It was like 38 6 in the 4th Q. Suddenly Elks got 22 points. 38-28. The game was very entertaining. I'm ok with the loss. Elks woke up in the 4th quarter.  Next up June 26th in Winnipeg.

Anne's getting all paranoid about going to the BBQ next week because there could be some children there like last year and she's concerned that she might get measeals due to the recent outbreak and all. I can understand that. I might not attend anyway.

I've been wanting to get a hand held game system like a Steam Deck for awhile. I've had my MiiYou mini plus for awhile now and haven't used it much because there is no TV out. I have DosBox for my computer but I haven't used that much either. I hope to get into playing some Dos games. I can play Dos games on most hand held's but a Steam Deck is one I've been looking at lately. When I get out of debt. Maybe this time next year. Anyway, that's all for now.

When I was downstairs there

were these 3 ladies gathering around by the office. One of them had their little puppy with her. They were talking how 3 of the residents here lost their spouse this month. Anne and I are at that age. Thing is we could go at anytime. Me especially what with my diabetes. These senior homes are like meat markets, in alive, out in death. Just the way things go. I just hope I can last long enough to get my 25 year lodge pin and maybe long enough to see the Oilers win a Stanley Cup. I don't care about Mary. That's all for now.

The Oilers barely showed up

as Panthers got the first goal. It was 2-0 at the end of the 2nd period. Florida Panthers totally out played the Oilers. Skinner coughed the puck up, which made the score 3-0 in the 3rd. About 7 minutes remaining, Skinner was pulled to get the extra man but Florida scored into an empty net. 4-0. What? We pulled Skinner again? 5-0 Near the end we got 1 goal. 5-1 finale. The Oilers ran out of gas in the 3rd. This had to be the worst game the Oilers played this series. Skinner was horrible. Hopefully Oilers will be able to utilize  Samual Jonsson for the 2025-26 season. Anyway, that's all for now.

I'm getting an average of

about 4 & a half to 5 hours of sleep every day. Not bad for an old guy (72) that does nothing all day. My step count is usually about 3,100/day.

Not much on my plate this week. Tomorrow is Game 6 with the Oilers in Florida in the NHL Stanley cup finale. I'm not going anywhere this week at all. No go, no spend $. Good formula. I almost forgot there is a CFL game on CFL+ Elks are hosting Montreal.

I haven't given up on my music. We just came off a rough move late March, work, appointments, and life just got in the way. I'm taking the summer off. Be back at the channel after Labour Day weekend. Anyway, that's all for now.

My Amazon order is out for delivery

I've never ordered anything medical related before from Amazon. Expectations are low. We ordered some compression stockings, XL and 30-40 compression ratio size. For just under $20 we can't compare $100+ stockings to $20. I'd be surprised if I can even fit into these things.

What I've got to look forward to for this week, is Game #6 of the Oilers/Florida game. Can the Oilers force a game 7 Friday or will The Oilers end their season, Tuesday? We'll see. Also the Elks are hosting Montreal for a Thursday night CFL football game @ Commonwealth. Its the season home opener for the Elks. Then there's Friday night Smackdown. All that and I'm not going anywhere nor spending any money. I have $21 coh and I get paid next week. So far so good.

I'm considering writing a sci-fi mystery novela Publishing on Amazon is free. Amazon takes plagiarism very seriously. Using Ai is being resourcefull. It's not cheating. There are Ai checkers to see if a work was Ai generative. The thing is, using your own prose to fill in gaps, like fore shadowing etc. Anyway, that's all for now.

Game 5/7 on tonight

at Rogers place arena. Most likely the Oilers won't win Stanley in game 7.

Ok a heart to heart rant here folks. Mainly because this is where or near the end of the series, officiating takes control of the game. It's part of the NHL Stanley Cup officiating playbook. Penalty calls will be "missed" and other ones will be awarded. Usually in favour of US teams. It's sometimes a subtle shift. It's not a whine but me facing a certain reality of the modern hockey era in the NHL. Last time a Canadian team won the Stanley Cup was the 1993 Montreal Canadians. Betman made sure that his first year as Commisioner would be the last time a Canadian team would win the Stanley Cup. Now that's mostly theory (or is it?) on my part but it's shared by many others as well. Most of us older guys know. TV commentary knows but can't say anything. Everyone thinks The Edmonton Oilers are going to win this year. Sorry people but it won't be the case. Some will say "There are more American teams in the NHL." It's not even that. If I had a thousand bucks to bet win or lose on the series winner, it'd be Florida Panthers. I love my Oilers team. This is the best Oilers team since 1987 IMO, and we could have a dozen McDavid's and Draisaitl's, best goal tender in the world. We would still lose. It's out of the player hands. To a point. In this case, I give all the credit to Florida. They are the better team. We just have to pretend it's all above board. It's real sports entertainment. I know the real cause here. Most of us do. So lets cheer Canada's team and put on a brave face. The Oilers are a great team in the regular season.

Sorry but not this year. I think McDavid is begining to figure this out. Anyway, that's my rant.

I got to thinking on this day June 13th Friday

what a year we've had, Anne and I Moving out of our last residence to a seniors place is an achievement in it's own right. For me, obtaining my Royal Arch degree and getting that beautiful certificate. What would make this even better if the Oilers win the Stanley Cup. This would then (under such a scenario) be an iconic year. I just wanted to toss that out there.

Anne and I went out to Meadowlark Mall for my eye appointment yesterday

for my eye appointment. It was smokey out there. I was an hour early but Anne went over to Walmart as I waited to be called. There were 20-30 people waiting. I got called in for drops. Then a bit more wiating. They did an OTC scan of both eyes. Then some photographs. Immediate results. No change in my eyes since birth. No dieabetic damage😀That was my main concern. The Doctors there said they would forward the results to my Ophthalmologist where I got my glasses from last April. Anne met me outside in the mall as she returned with some KFC she was stuffing her face with. She also bought me a Tim's breakfast for later today. My vision was really impaired as I waited for her to finish.

My vision got worse as we got outside as we worked our way out of the busy mall parking lot trying to get to the corner of 159th street & 87th Ave as it was blocked off due to LRT construction. One of the Marigold LRT workers stopped traffic for us so we could cross the street. Very nice of them. Fortunatly, there was a barricade we could sit on waiting for our bus. Across 159th street West of us, an apartment building was being built. I think this was the first apartment being built in the area since the 1970's. I did a Google street view of the property.

The red dot is where we were sitting. The red square area is the new apartment is being built.

Once we caught our #4 bus to Campus station through the University Anne suggested we get some lunch at Rickies, where we were in April and we get the #501. Anne ordered some soup and I a cheese burger. We got home shortly before 3:45pm. There was somebody in the office and I tapped on the glass. I asked if they accept cattered food. Yes they do. Excellent. I sent our JW a text and he asked how much notice do we need? I said Friday. I'll go upstairs before the Oilers game and take some photos and send them off to chat. Anyway, that's all for now.

My PCN appointment

Thursday turned out better then I expected. Anne needed the cell phone because of the Amazon order she was expecting. No photos of my outing are availible. The foot nurse took me in early. She cleaned up the calluses on my feet trimmed my toe nails and did the ABi scan. I wasn't sure about the pin prick test but the 5 pin touches on each foot I scored 10 out of 10. I did really well. I was out by 3pm. It was so warm that day I had to remove my wind breaker once I got to the bus stop at Winston Arms apartments. I was home by by ~ 4pm.

I hailed Nathan in chat to see if he could pick me up for lodge. He picked me up at 5:45pm. Anne made me a bite to eat. I dreassed got my iPad BT speaker for Lodge. We were at lodge by 6pm. O if it could be that way for every lodge meeting. Even taking ETS Valley line Churchill connector and the Capital line to Coliseum Sation just to get the #8 bus is demanding enough for a 71 year old seniior with a can and a back pack. Lodge was quick and easy, in and out.

When I got home, I just through off all my cloths on my office floor. I felt woozy in the head. Stomach bothering me. I couldn't eat. I was screaming and moaning in my office chair. This happened this time last year when I was in Wetaskiwin. I felt better once I laid down the fan blowing cooler air in my face. I passed out. I didn't even hear Anne climbing into bed. I woke up next on the bathroom floor! There was very little feeling in my legs.. I was able to drag mysel with my arms sliding on my bum.. Beside the bed I got into push up position and got to my hands and knees. With great effort I sat on the bed andclimbed in. This was about 10:30am. Friday. I slept until ~6:45 missing most of game 2, Oilers lost in Double OT 4-3. I felt much better and finally got some feelin in my legs and was able to move around the apartment. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, June 5, 2025

I'm out of here

about noon to the lrt then Churchill Connector/Capital lineto Belvedere station and then to my PCN foot nurse appointment. While I'm there I need to see if there is anyone that can write me a script for compression stockings and if this PCN has an AADL authorizer. After that, it's home get a bite to eat dress for lodge, and head out.

Anne's got an Amazon order arriving again but we changed our phone number for my cell number, so I won't be taking it with me this afternoon.

The Oilers took game #1 last night. There was about 2 minutes and some change in OT and Florida got a penalty for delay of game. Oilers took advantage of that and scored FTW. Anyway, that's all for now.

Tomorrow morning I need

have my work laptop powered on for the usual monthly maintenance. Other then this, my day is open. Other then that, not much going on for today.

It was on this weekend (1980) Richard and I

went to Vancouver by Greyhound bus. Richard Lord and I had a mission to source out some Rattan wood because it is favoured wood for SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) fighter practice. We couldn't find Rattan wood here in Edmonton. Richard had managed to have some SCA people in Vancouver host us for the weekend. We never did get ant Rattan wood, but it was s good experience. There wasn;t time to check in on family and I was on holiday from work anyway. It was about this time of night we would be pulling into the Greyhound bus tereminal downtown. Those were crazy days.

Game one Stanley Cup finale will have the visiting Florida Panthers facing off with the Oilers in the best of 7. The good news for the Oilers is we have home ice advantage, so if this goes 7 games, a Stanley cup will be awarded here. McDavid's $12.5m contract is up July 1st. Will McDavid stick around? Will the Oilers pay him for another extension? Will McDavid exercise his Non Movement Clause if the Oilers can't come to terms? It's going to be interesting in the weeks ahead.

I've got 4 days off including today. Thursday mid afternoon, I have a visit to the Fort Road PCN and then Lodge. I have one other event after that and that's for Chapter and that's our BBQ. Should be a good time. Anyway, that's all for now.

Last nights Dallas/Oilers game

at Rogers Place arena was for the most a 2-1 nail biter. That win was not without a cost as Zach Hyman suffered what might be a broken arm. Looks like he will miss the ballance of the playoffs. That's not good. If Oilers take game 5 tomorrow night it will be a low scoring game, like last night's game before the 2 empty nets.

Our local weather looks prett good for rhe next few days

It's not even noon.

Yesterday, Anne and I signed up for the GEF outing to Saint Albert Enjoy Center. Its basically a green house but there was a nice trendy cafe called Glass House. Anne took this photo of me yesterday from my iPhone 11. This was almost 24 hours ago yesterday:

We eached tried their Smash burger. Not bad. That's my walker behind me. Anne is taking the photo. Here's one of her:

Anyway, other then that, not much going on for today. That's all for now.

Tuesday, May 27, 2025

Today we're off in a GEF

handivan to Saint Albert, enjoy centre. It's mostly an outing for Anne. We're leaving out of here about 10:30am to get there by 11am. It's an hour and a half outing. We should be back by about 1:30-2pm.

This should be good because I can bring my walker with me for the first time at an outing. After that, I'm going to have a nap and then get ready for game 4 Dallas@Oilers hockey game. Should be a nice day. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, May 22, 2025

The Oilers had

Game 1 in Dallas under way until they got sloppy in the 3rd when it was 3-1. Dallas got 3 power plays and scored on all of them. Then they scored into an empty net. Oilers basically gave the game away.

Chapter night this evening. We are balloting 4 brothers. Going to be interesting. I don't mind doing the music for chapter but if I'm just a fill in until Glenn's position as Scenior Warden is over and he's back to music, fine. Otherwise if this is a permanent make me a lodge officer. Otherwise, I'll just be a regular bum in a chair and I won't do anymore parts in Chapter. Bad enough I'm doing doing memory work for Lodge. Speaking of Chapter tonight, I'm going to ask (with my cell phone, ask someone of they can take my photo. Anyway, that's all for now.

Tuesday, May 20, 2025

That was my Victoria day weekend

a bit on the slow side but that's ok.

For the most part I was working on my OBS channel, getting audio connected via bluetooth. That sort of thing.

It's closing in on 8 years December 28th Mary walked out of my life. We never got involved in anything sexual. I thought about it but I couldn't follow through. She meant so much to me. I blame myself what happened but at the same time, she never made an effort to tell me the reason for the break up. She tried sending me a text but I was afraid to receive it, knowing what was at the end of it. A friendship spaning over 20 years deserves more then a text Mary. Surley I desereved that much. Over the years it's been hard to deal with. I have good days and bad days. Now Mary is married. Don's ok but over protective. Maty if your ever reading this please, somehow, over Don's chat at BoB or even on my cell: 902 6348. The hime phone is still the same. You can always email me. jim9shannon@mail.com. I miss you so much. We need to clear the air. Your friend James.

That being said I don't know if I mentioned about a lower front tooth that brook off at the base of the gum line April 20th. it began to cause me some light discomfort all afternoon. It feels better now. Anyway, that's all for now.

Not much going on for today

Earlier I went down to the office to sign us up for the St. Albert Enjoy Centre outing on the 27th. I haven't been out to St. Albert since I first came to Edmonton in 1978. Hard to believe that was 47 years ago. Hard to believe I was 25 years old. The reason why I had to go to St Albert in the first place was because I was on UIC or EI as it's known today was due to a Canada wide postal strike. All cheques were routed to the nearest TD bank in the NW Edmonton area, which was the TD bank in Saint. Albert.

Not much going on this weekend. On this date, Friday 1980 was a very special event for me. The details will be kept private but Richard Lord, and Ellen know. I remember riding on a bike to a liqour store in the McCauley area. It was a crazy night for me

I wanted to get out a video this weekend but I don't know what. I might get something going tomorrow. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, May 15, 2025

Our outing yesterday

@ Barb & Earnies was nice. The cherrie blossom trees we're all abloom. Love this time of year. There was about 16 of us in a GEF handi van. Not sure if our residence owns the bus. Most of the residence sat at the main table. There was not enough room for Anne and I. Strike 1. I asked for a diet Coke. It came with an empty glass and a can of diet Cola. Strike 2. I ordered a cheese burger and the bottom bun disentigrated after I ate half of it. Anne didn't like her meal. Strike 3. We got out and it was nice tp do that. We won't be back to Barb & Earnies anytime soon. I'm giving it a 2.5 only because the service was meh. I always leave a tip.

The best part of the day was the Oilers won against Vegas in Vegas, 1-0 in OT. Oilers advance to the semi finales.. Would be nice if it's Winnipeg only because it will give our team a longer rest. Not very likely that a team down by 3 games can come back to a game 7. Dallas in 5. Anyway, that's all for now.

Tuesday, May 13, 2025

Not much going on these days

just relaxing and taking it easy, watching hockey. Speaking of which, Oilers are leading the Vegas series 3-1 and could go on to round 3, if Vegas loses tomorrow. I said Oilers in 6. We'll see what happens.

Tomorrow, Anne and I are going out to a trendy Grerman restaurant. That should be good. Why they close at 2pm I have no idea. They are mostly known for breakfast, then anything else.

Yesterday was the 45th anniversary of my journal. Unfortunetly it wasn't able to survive 2 moves since 2021. I did manage to save 1 of my journals from September 1980. At least I have that. Anyway, that's all for now.

Wednesday, May 7, 2025

Last nights Oilers

Vegas game was a real barn burner. Oilers came back from behind to win 4-2. They even broke a record for the most consecutive combacks at 5. What's more is they regained home ice advantage. Game 2 will be nothing like last night. I'm thinking Vegas will win by 1.

Other then getting up early I had a decent day. Still find it hard to believe the fire at Wyndham building B. 36 meter's away and building A could have been affected. The fire in building B began in the 2nd floor. The wind was a huge factor in causeign most of the damage.

After today my next early morning won't be until Saturday. BoB or Lodge. I'm not sure yet. Lodge is 9am, BoB is 8am. I won't need cab money to get to lodge. I've been wanting to go to lodge anyway. That's all for now.

Comming up

May 12th is the 45th aniversary of my daily journal. It began Monday May 12th 1980. Richard suggested I start what he called a "magical diary." It was supposed to be about my occult experiences and experiments. I interpeted it as a daily diary about everday life. This was when commercial computers were just hitting the market. I could have started this diary on my Atari 130xe. A word processsor was only ~ C $60. Imagine my diaries all on disk from november 1987? Wow.

I woke up this morning ~ 8:30 feeling ok. Anne shortly after when crews began testing the alarms. We're getting ~ 2 burssts of 4 beeps per suite. We get that for every suite in the buildng All 350 units, uggh. It's scaring our cats. I have my head phones and shades. The alarm device sends out a strobe light each time it flashes.. The good news is they will be done by 4pm

The Edmonton Oilers are in Vegas tonight for game 1. Its a beautiful day. Oilers will lose tonight but will find a way to make it work before game #4 and hopefully Oilers in 6. I'll be able to watch the full game. I have chips; pop, a place we can afford. Life is good.
