I could end up getting a Red Robbin's Angus burger for my lunch. Its going to be a late lunch, but that's ok. After some shopping Anne is getting that for me shortly.
With an all day session yesterday at City Hall, it was finally decided to leave out the West LRT 149th street interchange proposal. That interchange would have taken out nearby businesses and slow down traffic even more then it already could. Once the tender process has been selected, the City of Edmonton what's to have shovels in the ground for the WLRT project by 2019. The WLRT will run down (low floor) right by my old apartment building I used to live at in the '80's and most of the '90's right above the sign in the yard behind that tree. That was my old suite. What could have been a option would be to have a trench system like the proposed St. Albert line, run the train down a trench system after it leaves the Jasper Place transit station and emerge on 87th after the 156th street intersection. I was on board of having the WLRT run from the University of Alberta cross the river and tunnel out onto after the 87th Ave traffic circle. As envaneo, I made my voice heard on that concept.
Switching gears here with 8 games remaining in the Oilers NHL schedule, the only things to be decided for the Oilers is can Connor McDavid win the Art Ross trophy again and can the Oilers finish playing 500 hockey? McDavid is currently one point behind TB's Kucherov. McDavid can close in and maybe move ahead of Kucherov but both teams have 8 games remaining and Kucherov isn't just going to be standing still. Its going to be a real horse race here. This list gets refreshed at the end of the day. If McDavid wins the Art Ross then that's something the Oilers can really behind for next season and makes this bitter pill of a season easier to follow. Anyway, that's al for now.

There has been some initial movement over changing
our CFL club Edmonton Eskimo's. Some people are of the opinion that the name Eskimo is a slur against indigenous people. At first I thought this was just silly. Then after a bit of education I began to see what they mean. Like how we have French for say a Two Year Planner would read in French "Agenda de Deux ans." Wtf? I'd rather see that replaced with the local indigenous name instead any day. Anne and I had a bit of Eskimo name changing fun. If the name needs to be changed (and I agree we need to have this conversation) I like "The Edmonton Empire." This actually cropped up when the season began as an ad campaign. Anne likes the name "The Edmonton Borealis." In a related topic our QB Mike Reilly in Ottawa last night received the Most Outstanding Player in the CFL. He deserves it.
The Argentina Sub The San Juan is days away from its last days. Its currently on life support. The sub made in Germany 1983 is 66 meters long with a crew of 44. Last I heard they had an explosion on board. Other countries are at sea trying to locate the sub.
That was a nice 3 days off. I go in today to pick up my cheque and start a 5 hour shift out by 9pm to the bank and get what's left for me. Across the street at Shoppers I want to get a iTunes card to buy Cubasis 2.3 and Luma Fusion the video editing software for my new iPad on the way home. After all it is black Friday. I made using i0s 11 screen recorder off of Garageband using Apples Live loops a crude video: You can see it here: Anyway, that's all for now.

It never stops
its one thing after another. Two weeks ago management had roofers replacing shingles, before that they replaced the original carpeting. Now (and we were told about this in advance) there's a construction crew replacing the ground level concrete that passes for a patio. Over the past to days they've been ripping concrete digging what looks like a 12 inch pit. I assume gravel goes in next as a primer and then they are replacing the concrete with decorative tiles. Yeesh. What's next re siding the outside of the building? Oh, wait that's next summer.
I'm sure glad I never bought a Galaxy note 7. I think I dogged a bullet. I might buy a android phone one of these days only because they have music apps exclusively for the android platform. Since the trouble with their latest and greatest cell phone's battery exploding, I imagine consumer confidence might be on shaky ground. Lots of android users are switching to iPhone's, including the guy at unbox therapy. I suspect the trouble with the note 7 is the screen causing the battery to overheat.
This weekend we're having our Edmonton Expo. Carrie Fisher and others are expected. Its a massive 3 day sci-fi, comic book, panel, everything con. Average price is about $30 a day for a ticket but there are 3 day paces available

I'm not sure if there is a Saturday costume dance like the old Edmonton non con but this looks like a lot of fun. I'd go if I had some spare cash just to meet Carrie Fisher and Alex Kingston. So, between now and the next Expo, I'm saving up some cash and taking the weekend off for just this event. The above image is from the Edmonton Expo website and used under fair use.
Earlier this week the market research job called me while I was on my way home from the work. I answered the call yesterday and asked if I could work Thursdays and Fridays. the boss there said he's fine with that. This will give me a few more hours because the shifts are longer. Also, when our place breaks in February the 2nd job often has work. Then I resume in March. This job in March ends around mid May and the market research job about May. Then I go on ei and slide into full pension one year from now and I'll have time to enjoy the Expo. I'll work 3 days a week during the steady job. However, if this place increases the rent because of all these upgrades, we're moving. As for tonight, I'm in at 4:15pm to 8:30 and on the train tonight home. Its all good. Anyway, that's all for now.

When I'm not working it Sunday is
my favorite day of the week. Especially if I have nowhere to go, like out with the wife or lodge practice. Not that there's nothing wrong with any of the two. It's my day to relax. The last time I worked was June 9th and I'm going a bit stir crazy sitting around the apartment. I've had enough relaxing.
This morning I came across Twitter analytics. This was a look into a aspect of Twitter I didn't know existed. In the last 28 days,I’ve made 3 Tweets. Not including the recent ones and my photo change. Out of those 3 Tweets (according to Twitter analytics) I’ve had 944 Tweet impressions, 28 profile visits, out of 776 followers. No likes in the last 28 days. I’m averaging 34 impressions/day. I went and put a blog link in a recent tweet earlier. I need to establish a permanent embedded blog link like a email signature in all my Tweets. I know about monetizing Twitter but I don't know how to go about it, in a discreet manner. I think I'd like to do a cpc (cost per click) kind of a campaign but my Tweets are generic, and not specific to any brand or niche market. At the same time I don't want to get heavy into anything like buying ad words. The Amazon book cover ad top right of my blog is mostly for information purposes. Since I signed up with a Amazon "store" about 2007, I don't think those ads have generated me a penny, and I'm ok with that. I see Twitter as tool to eventually embed one of my music production YouTube video's. I'm sure I can have multiple Twitter accounts for different topics.
By accident I learned The old Jasper Place theatre was demolished Friday, wow. I think the only movie I saw in there was "Return of the Jedi" in 1983. Tickets were something like $5 back then. Also, I discovered while using Google maps, Boston Pizza moved out of the strip mall just behind the theatre and the lot Burger Baron was on is gated off sitting empty. Like the empty lot that was across the street from our place most likely will turn out to be another Shoppers drug mart. They're popping up all over the place like Bart Simpson and the Starbucks shopping mall scene. I'm hoping the city of Edmonton buys that land, if they haven't already, and uses it for a future phase 2 Valley line stop. That wont happen for at least another 5-8 years out though.
Other then that not much else is happening around here today. I might have some work this week for a few days but I won't know anything until Monday. As its a short week this week as it is what with Canada day July 1st. We're carefully watching our spending in our household as we're holding back on any outings book buying stuff like that. This summer is going to be hard on Anne and I. The last time I had a $100 to myself was last October and that went to pay lodge dues. I'm hoping we can keep the basics together, and I get work in September. Anyway, that's all for now.
