BB King in person if he was here. He passed away at the age of 89. He died in his sleep Thursday. I can relate to BB King only because he was diabetic. Still to live to 89 while being diabetic gives me hope. Yet Anne's sister Rose died from diabetes at the age of 68. I could go tomorrow or live to my 80's like BB King. As for his music, not a lot of people play the blues like he did.
Talk about not seeing the forest before the trees kind of thing: Its all fine and well to have studio monitors and all but what about audio capture? I always thought my iPod touch would pick up the audio. Maybe that would be ok for audio voice dictation but not to pick up audio from my monitors. I'm going to try just my iPod but chances are I'll need a field recorder. I've been looking at a few like the Sony and Roland H2's. If my iPod can pick up the audio ok, I might just stick with that and or get the iRig mic. It could be a cheap solution to record my jams without the use of a computer.
A
little on the breezy side today. We haven't had any rain or very
little. This month. Hopefully we'll get some rain overnight but not on
my morning commute tomorrow. It seems though that Saturday's shift will be short because of the long weekend. In a way I hope so. It'll give me 2.5 days off. Anyway that's all for now.

Welcome to my Blog. Anne and I live here in Clareview Edmonton Alberta, with our 2 cats etc. This blog is about my life, rants, politics, books, music production, Sports, some gaming, Freemasonry and some WTF-ish moments that give me pause. Sometime this morning
we're having management inspectors knocking on our door to come in to check our "suite for repairs" and see what has to be done. Its a little more then that but at this point that's all I'm going to say. It's mostly preventative. I don't think they'll be here at exactly 9am sharp.
If it holds according to the forecasts for the next 10 days we're supposed to have temperatures like +0's and +1's, some 2's etc are in there as well. We could be in for a unusual mild November.
Canada sent a response team to the recent typhoon disaster in the Philippines. It was sent to the hardest hit areas. The US and Nations around the world are responding with relief aid. I feel bad for the Filipino people there but also here as well.
Tomorrow Nasa is supposed to make this huge announcement about a earth shaking discovery. They're probably going to announce that they're bankrupt and need more money. Most likely it's a big hoax, which is why Nasa isn't responding. The armageddon nut casses are having a field day with this one. We'll know tomorrow sometime I guess. If at all.
A couple of days ago I've been fooling around with Cam Studio. It's a free open video/audio screen capturing device. I'm still tinkering around with the settings. The video works ok but I'm not getting audio. It's got to do with my computer's sound card as I need "Realtek HD audio manager." From some of the "YouTube fixes" for this I need the above HD item for my laptop. Otherwise I can't use Cam Studio. Microsoft's movie magic maker isn't too bad either. Anyway, that's all for now.

This post was put together yesterday for today.
After work the temperature was +33! Warmest it’s been in a couple of years.
After work I went over to Audrey’s I bought book #10 of the Horus Heresy and a Warhammer 40K audio CD. I also ordered Hammer & Bolter Vol. 1 & 2. I thought about going out for a bite to eat but wasn’t that hungry. I bought a bottle of diet Coke at Tim’s and on a humid LRT to Clareview and a even more humid wait on the #183
When 8pm rolled around Anne was at the door with Donna paying us a visit. She stayed for about 40 minutes and I more or less had the place to myself.
It’s very dark clouds out there as it looks like some kind of a system is coming in.
I still don’t know what‘s going on with the Phoenix Coyote‘s yet on the big vote. I‘ll know by the time I post this. Ok the city of Glendale ratafied a new lease agreement to save the Phoenix Coyote's from moving, in principle. Up next is the "Free agent frenzy" Friday.
The big system that came in took out part of a beautiful tree just out here. Mind you it's only a branch but a significant part of the tree's landscape. Branches and tree bit's are littered all over the place.
Looks like Edward Snowden is running out of countries Seems everyone is turning him down. Anyway that's about all for now.

Having a great day although the only
sour spot as the Riders gave us another beating.
I read some more out of Warhammer 40K and making some good progress. One of the characters in this book is named Gabriel and aparently if it's the same one shoes up in other Warhammer 40k novels. I've got 2 Warhammer 40K audio books and I'm picking them up after work Tuesday.
Ok, it's beginning to sink and there isn't a week that doesn't go by where one of the caller's on the phone or a colleague nice comments how I have a voice for broadcasting. Maybe I should apply for some voice over work. I wonder if I'd get a job. Anyway, that's about all for now.

The weather wasn't as
bad as I thought yesterday morning. The only parts that were slippery was heading up the stairs at Corona station and South along 107th there heading towards the Matrix hotel. Coming back wasn't that bad and the intersection was hardly worth wearing cleats over. So in the morning, I should be OK.
Planet X & Prophecy Mon 03-18 Author and publisher Marshall Masters specializes in Planet X and ancient civilizations. He'll discuss Edgar Cayce's visions of a pole shift, as well as evidence for an object on the other side of the sun, which could be Planet X, and how it ties in with Hopi prophecy. I love shows like this. I wish though they were on a Friday/Saturday night!
Not much on my plate over the next couple of days. I’m considering a VST from Twisted tunes called S-layer. It’s pretty decent. It means getting a gift card and purchasing it as a download into my laptop. Should be a lot of fun and something I can use with my Machine.
So after I get about 6 hours of sleep,I'm up and out of here over to the Baker Center. I also want to try Subway's breakfast sausage sandwich in the morning, so I might leave out of here a bit early Anyway, that’s about all for now.

I woke up about
11:40am Monday and called LM to see if they had the Mustang 1 guitar amp and the Bullet strat. Yes for both. I left out of here about 12 noon and got to Clareview and downtown listening to some tunes on the way to Corona. After a breif sweaty humid walk to LM they had the guitar and amp waiting for me. Great. They wraped everything up in their LM bags but I had to leave the amp box behind because it wouldn’t fit in the bags. It weighed close to 20lbs. It was tough going sweating like I was in a steam room. I had to rest across the street from Money Mart. After a brief hike to Corona and a wait at the station platform my train came by and I could relax for a bit. I wanted to come through the back way because it would have been easier going through 1 door then 2 like in the front. Up the stairs down the hall, inside. Whew! I‘m glad I don‘t do that all the time. I had a shower to cool off. Imagine if it was one of those +32C days!
Anne wanted to make a trip to the bottle depot as I was tinkering with my new toys and she bought me a A&W sirloin “Uncle burger/fries” it really hit the spot.
I watched the historic 1000th show of Monday night Raw. So because of interference, does this mean Cena keeps his “Money in the bank” brief case?
After a bit of tinkering I‘ve got everything set up. I can get the shape to do some bare chords and the amp is very loud for a 15 watt amp. Loud enough for what I need it for and the Master knob was turned up to about 3. I have the amp registered to Fender although I haven‘t got the Ableton lite or Fuse downloaded yet. I‘ll work on that over the week.
By Wednesday the $40 funds I uploaded to PP should be in and Telus already took their internet preauthorized billing, so that‘s ok.
So the Oiler‘s have signed Yakupov to a 3 year entry level deal. Lets see of he makes the team during training camp about 6 weeks away.
I’m happy with the amp because it reads fine in FL Studio 10 and I laid a sample track down. I just need to tweak the settings on the guitar and the amp and I’m good to go. On a scale from 1-10, Id rate Monday a 10. What an excellent day. About 7pm there was even a heavy rain storm that took 5 minutes to pass through here. Anyway, that’s all I have for now.

Finally everything since the beginning
of the week has come to a head. Yesterday, I got the dinner figured out and my parts in the lodge figured out. Too make matters worse Anne calls me just before break and makes a change of plans for me. I hope she said she wanted me to put my check (what I give her) in my account. Otherwise I would have brought cash. Up until they began handing out checks to everybody at 8:15pm, I was wondering if I had a check at all. And if so how much was it going to be? I’ve seen them dicker me out before and others. Ok, I got my check and opened the envelope, $325 Whew, almost a full check. Instant relief. I headed up to the bank cashed my check and left the $265 like I hope Anne wanted me to do. All of it the festive board, my part in the Lodge, my check all came out ok. Thank God. I even have $100 to play with as well which means I can get my RJS book and a bite to eat after work tomorrow. The only downside to all of this today was I had only $25 on sales but it was all on card. All I can say was, what a week! I even got my iTunes card fixed up. All in all, this week turned out great. It could have been a disaster.
Music over the years has changed so much not only in genres but how music has been produced. It used to be from the beginning a collection of musicians or one person with a flute or plcucked instrument of some kind. In the "modern era" the phonograph was introduced in the late 1800's. Music was then recorded in a control room on a 4 track device and then evolved to 100 banks console to digital music on the computer making the art of producing music open to anyone. So along comes the iPad, which is becoming a serious music production tool. It's going to be a long way off before the iPad will replace a 4 piece band or anything or even someone with an iPad on stage. But with Digital Audio Workstations (DAW's) so accessible for hobby musicians IPad's/Apple's Garageband Gb isn't quiet there yet. I'm a hobby musician. The only instrument I can play (barely) is the DAW, which is an instrument in itself. Gb isn't even like the same thing of it's Mac big brother. For example, I paid $500 for Cubase 6 2 months ago. Gb comes free with every Mac computer but for the iPad it's a $5 app on a $700 device. I haven't produced any music yet but I'm about to as soon as I get over this bout of laryngitis or what ever it is. Here's what the interface of Garageband looks like:
I gave Anne another $50 to help cover the rent last night. We we're only $50 short of rent and I did want to get that RJS book. Looks like I'm going to have to wait another week
This weekend is a short weekend. I'm paying for it now because next Saturday I want off to go to Ye Old Craft. We start Monday at 2pm, which is ok. It will still give me 37.5 hours on my check next week and more importantly give me an opportunity to visit other Lodges. Me being one of the 3 principle officers of our Lodge I should be visiting m ore and that's what I'm about to do this month.
Today however, I've got 6 hours ahead of me and I hope J will put me onto "Harper" and not OPC. At least I can make money on "Harper." After work I'm considering going over to Audrey's to pick up something. It wont be an RJS book but something within my price range.
The next project for my music is going to be Melodyne editor for my voice as I'm going to need an affect on my voice. I'm not a singer but I want to "sing" or create noise with my mouth. I want to save up $450 but the product itself is about $350. I don't want to leave myself short. So $75 over the next 6 weeks will do it. So I hope by mid June I'll have it. Anyway, that's about all for now.

The pharmacy had the
the CFL games posted for the weekend but for some reason didn’t list the Montreal/Winnipeg game. Why I had no idea. I had a good first half as I tried calling Anne at the first break but nobody was answering the phone. I even got a $5 bonus for next week. At 4:30pm I decided to go down and buy a Proline ticket anyway and I have Esks/BC Esks to win, SKS/CGY to tie and HAM/Argos, Argo’s to win. I’m thinking about going to get another ticket Friday same games but have HAM/Argo’s to tie. I had a lousy 2nd half but so did everyone else.
I’m getting into “A game of thorns” and after 40 pages, it’s not bad. I’ll finish the book until the end.
I decided what I’ll do if L&M still have the software I want at that price, rather then leave myself short, what I’ll do is lay some money down this Saturday, say half of it and go get a bite to eat at Harvey’s kind of across the street (assuming L&M haven’t moved.). This way it secures the item at that price and I don’t have to shell out 90% of what I have to leave myself broke for a week. Then after I eat, I’ll go over to Century casino over there on Fort road and play some penny slots and a some blackjack and a couple of rounds of roulette. I might even walk away in the black. Anyway, that’s about all for now.
