Its Friday and its been a pretty

decent week. Watched a really feisty Flames/Oilers game. I managed to get that track uploaded to my You Tube channel. Paid some bills, all things considering, yeah it was a good week.

This weekend I need to get myself a haircut. Saint Louis is in town for tonight and Oilers are in Calgary tomorrow night. Its going to be a jam packed weekend. I think my wife and I would like to go out for brunch this Sunday. Capital Pizza or Chateau Nova. Undecided.

Having some fun with Shotcut open source video editing software. Its got some pretty dope features. Anyway, that's all for now.

Its been a pretty good weekend

I thought I sent an email to cancel my lodge breakfast. I just needed to be at the Band of brother group. There was just no way I could do both.

At least we're out of that cold snap. Yesterday we got up to about +4, which was pretty good for this time of year.

Today I'm doing music production before WWE's Royal Rumble. I wanted to get a video out yesterday but I had camera issues. I might put together an arp/drum loop of some kind. Not sure yet.

This I'm trying to get out to make a bill payment Thursday, and get that video out. Also, there's the return of Calgary Flames/Edmonton Oilers. Should be a good one. Anyway, that's all for now.

I'm blogging about twice a week these

days. I'm also active on Twitter and Facebook. otherwise everything is ok here.

We're out of that cold snap and wow it was a woozy. If weather forecasters predictions for the rest of the month hold, we should be in for a more pleasant close of the month. February, we could get another cold snap. March is a toss up. Other then that, I got nothing going on right now.

I was out earlier for a walk down by 50th and the church there. I couldn't sit on the bench because it was covered in snow. I ended up with about 2,450 steps and I did my daily 3k goal just now. Anyway, that's about all for now.

My wife needs to go to work

this afternoon and its -28c with a -44c< feels like, wind chill. I don't envy her at all. Not just that but coming home will be even worse. She's going to try and get a ride to her connecting point to Northgate, so hopefully she'll be home by 11pm. By Monday we should be out of this cold snap and back to more seasonal temperatures like ~ -4 through -7C. At one point during this cold snap, it was the coldest since 1997, over 22 years ago.

I haven't been out of the apartment since Monday night. Anne was out in this weather at Walmart last night exchanging a product and trying to get me a All Star diabetic pen. They were out of supply so she called Shoppers across the street and picked one up. Speaking of drugs, the Provincial Government is switching from a Biologic to a biosimilar drug format. Biologic drugs cost 50% more then Biosimilars. I'll be switching to the pill format after this insulin runs out as these insulin pens will become obsolete soon anyway.

As for tonight, I'm tinkering around doing music production stuff, Facebook, You tube, hanging out with my cat Skippy. In general staying out of trouble. Anyway, that's all for now.

We're still stuck in this cold snap

lately. This morning about 10:30am it was -40 with a wind chill of -52. In all my 42 years in this city, I've never experienced it this cold before. Not even last February's arctic vortex or what ever they want to call it. Plus add my circulation issues in there and its a double whammy. This current cold snap should be over by this time next week.

Hopefully I'll have the 3 weeks off I'm looking forward to. At the moment, I'm not doing to badly. Anne is sleeping in bed, no phone calls so far today, other then the occasional bi-polar eruptions from the wife, we're holding our own here. Plus I got coffee, life is good. Here's a photo of me and my friend Frances taken at work from last Saturday:

For this week, I've got absolutely nothing going on. I can finally contribute a beat to what the community this month calls Jamuary. That's not a typo. Tonight the Oilers are hosting Nashville Preds. I'm not watching, just following in another browser until the score changes my mind to watch. Might get interesting by the 3rd period. Anyway, that's about all from me this week. I'm over there on Facebook, of course my You Tube channel, various Live Streams like Artfx, Plugin guru and Doug Woods The Sound Test room. As for now I got to go heat up my coffee in the mic, see what's happening with my You tube subscriptions, that sort of thing. Anyway, that's all for now.

At least work has been more or less

steady, and looks like it could be for this month. I hope. Its market research so anything can happen. I'm not holding my breath but it looks like I could get one full cheque for the end of the month, maybe.

Monday I ordered the long awaited plugin called "Unify" by Plugin guru. So I'm learning how to use it. So far I haven't been able to use it in my host daw Reason 10. However I think the developer will be hosting a live stream Saturday. I got one more phone call Saturday after the Live stream to salvage a friendship that's barely on life support. If I can't get that going, I'm just going to let go.

When I made my Doctors appointment for early this afternoon, it was based upon the uncertainty work would be spotty. Looks like I'm going to have to cancel, again. Next time I'm going to rebook closer to the time I have off.

Not much going on this weekend, except the "band of brothers" men's breakfast group. Plus I want to prep another video using "Pure Acid," music app. The Oilers are playing tonight in Montreal and in Calgary Saturday night. As for tonight can the Oilers make it 3 games in a row? Anyway, that's all for now.

Saturday, my favorite day of the week

in which I like to wake up early. Early for me when I'm not going to bob, is about 9am when I'm not working. 11am when I am. I especially love Saturday morning coffee and every other Saturday, breakfast with the guys. On the 25th a bunch of us from another group will be at Northgate Smitty's. I'm looking forward to that.

I'm going to make a call this week to Edmonton SAGE to see what kind of social programs Anne and I can get involved in. I like card games but Anne isn't into anything like that. I tried teaching her cribbage years ago. What a disaster that was. A colleague at work on the commute home was telling me about Sage how she's always going out to various activities. of course there is an expense to anything.

This week I'm hoping to get back into work, hopefully after cut off so I can get a decent pay cheque. At the end of the month I'm trying to get a 2Tb ssd so I can clone my current 120Gb drive over to the new one, uninstall all my Komplete 12 Ultimate products and reinstall everything onto my new volume "C" drive. Once of course I go into BIOS and change the boot order. I have a Doctors appointment on the 9th, bob on the 11th, and we'll take it from there.  Anyway, that's all for now. WOW, over 10 years on Blogger.

Hello there 2020

and how are you today? I hope your going to be easier on me then your brother 2019 last year. What a disaster that was. There were few highlights and I need to realize with the good comes the bad. So here is a look back at what was 2019.

Yes its a brand new year. Hard to believe I made it this far. I had a rough year last year, what with trying to cope with a friend that ran out on me. Last January, my wife and I went gambling at a local Casino. February: I attended "Band of Brothers." Its a men's bible study/breakfast every other Saturday at Freedom Centre church just down the block. I look forward to that every Saturday. March was my wife's birthday and hardly working at all. April I began going outside to get some exercise in around the block out here by Sifton school 3 times a week still trying to cope what happened and why my friend Mary just up and left me. May: I received GIS back pay plus I got an allowance of anything that's greater then rent. I rode a bike for the first time in like over 50 years and fell off it. I almost got the Nintendo Switch but I couldn't afford to keep it (just before my allowance) Bits and pieces of work here and there. Met Pastor Ian in an impromptu counselling session at Tim Horton's. June: Continued my walking. July, explored dental work at Belmont dental. August: I got my own Visa card, September: I got the iPod Touch 7th Gen. Tooth extractions. October: I lost the iPod after work on a Saturday. November: More work but slow. Got my upper denture. December: Staff Christmas party, I bought Komplete 12 Ultimate music software, my first Amazon order, we lost our cat Rusty as he died in his sleep Friday the 13th. Its been quite a year. I'm almost over losing Mary. I was never obsessed over Mary, when I invited her back into my life. I was over 25 years ago but people change. Why would I risk losing 18 years of marriage over a woman I hardly knew and there was gap of about 20 years in there where Mary was just an asterisk in my life. Why risk losing my marriage over something like that? As for putting her in a bad spot? Mary was complicit with me in everything. I lied to her yes because she wouldn't take the hint that going out for lunch once a month was compromising my marriage. I wanted to end the going out and chatting part of our friendship in August 2018 5 months into renewing our friendship. Mary would not take the hint. I had to take drastic action and even then, she still would not take the hint. She finally did when I sent to her roommate married couple living with her a private text. I wanted to partially end our friendship as well, However, not at the risk of still being on friendly terms, like calling each other on the phone after the going out part and chat part was over. And by calling each other on the phone would be once every couple of weeks, type thing. Best times for Mary to call when I' m not working is Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays after 3pm, when I have more privacy. And that's for any of my friends not just Mary.

Ok, enough of that. So that was 2019. I'm glad its over. I'm excited for 2020. I'm continuing with my "walking program." More videos to my Jim Shannon on Sounds You Tube channel, attending band of brothers, exploring SAGE and getting to know more seniors and people my own age. As for this week, I've got lodge tonight. I'm hoping to get a call from the office today or tomorrow that we have some work coming up. I've got some banking to do Friday, Saturday, I'm home working on a "Jammuary" upload to my channel, watch some hockey. Just hobbies around the apartment. Anyway, that's all for now.
