Last night while I was

enjoying Monday night Raw, Anne gave me a melatonin pill. Its a slow working sleeping type pill that didn't work right away but after going to bed about 1:30am it helped a bit. The idea behind taking it was to counter the rls episodes that prevent me from having a good sleep. It was working for a bit.

I was up at 8:30am and got ready to head out. I thought my pcn was for 10am (maybe I was thinking summer hours) and I got on the bus out here to Clareview to get a Northgate bus. My #11 came along and I was at Northgate by about 10:15am. The reception there said my appointment was for 9am, crap. I re-booked for 1:30 Thursday and I'll get my bank form then. The pcn appointment is to pick  up some insulin and I'm ok for a couple of days.

I'm also coming down with a bit of toothache pain. Hopefully, this will blow over but if not and its the same tooth, I'm going to go into the emergency clinic at the UoA.

All my market research job has just clean up projects. I'm grateful I got 4 shifts this week but nothing on the weekend. I might not have anything next week which is why I'm taking this step with the other job. I'm leaving my availability blank and putting 4 days in for the other job and 2 days in at the market research job if available.

Next Sunday I have a day off and lodge practice and then 4 days at the new job and then Lodge Friday night. Its our elections. Then I have a District practice on the 19th (Sunday) as we're hosting the District meeting on Saturday the 25th. It works out good because my market research job has no Saturday shifts (as far as I know) for October. This is strange because October is a busy year for us.

The other thing about the new job is that (if I last) is on a Saturday (when the Metro line comes online) I can get off the #7 at Grant MacEwan station walk across the street and take the train to Churchill station and home. Tonight I'm in at the market research job. I won't be in for a couple of weeks.
Anyway, that's about all for now.

Nothing much of anything going on for today

as I'm getting ready for the week ahead and not much going on this week as well.

This week I'm uploading some funds to my pp account so I can start playing Fan Dual (fantasy Sports) Mostly just $1 and $2 bets until I know what's going on but my limit is $5/week. I'm not a big gambler and I don't play slots or poker. This is something that on paper makes sense.

We change another month as we're almost out of September in a couple of days, a new month begins. I like this time of year. Early November is ok to. After that, is when it starts getting cold. I'm not looking forward to the -25's and windchill's. Winter is usually about 5.5 months. We still have spotted bits of snow on the ground in April around here. It's not unusual to have a major episode of heavy wet snow late April early May. November is the Grey Cup game and the JFK observances. For me lodge wise, I'm almost done my wm chair.

So other then the above not much else is going on. I might be AWOL for a couple of days but I'll be launching the occasional Tweet. Anyway, that's all for now.

Sure feels like October out there this afternoon

and its just a few months away. I took this picture of the Sunset about 6:30 last night:
The image above was a lot lighter then this, but that's due to my camera settings. I'm wondering if its because it wasn't set for night.

I took these two of the Fox tower development last night on my way home:

And later this one:

Last nights Riders/Esks game was probably the best game the Esks had played in years and first shutout victory since Sept. 5, 2003 (38-0 over the Calgary Stampeders). There were 42,161 fans in attendance last night. US College football gets about 45,000 in attendance almost every city/every game. I'm just glad to finally see the Riders get a goose egg. They were embarrassed in front of their hoard of fans too boot. We have 2 more meets with them on their turf. We may have won the battle but not the war. Next up October 19th week 17. Not for awhile yet. They'll have us week 17 and week 20. I'm sure the outcome will be different then.

Not much going on around here today. I'm going to try and catch a Doctor Who episode later and work on a beat I'm toying around with. Anyway that's all for now.

Friday, September 26, 2014

Later this evening its

Riders/Esks match up at Commonwealth. It should be a full house what with all the Rider fans in town. I'm looking forward to this one.

This after noon I have a 5pm appointment a few blocks North of Grant MacEwan university. It's on good old 107th Ave taking the #7. Then home to settle in and watch the football game. As far as I know I have this weekend (that could change by the time I head out of here at 4pm) off but I hope to be working Tuesday night one way or another.

Also this evening is the 3rd annual Edmonton Comicon Expo. This weekend its people from "The Big bang theory" and others as well. I'd love to attend one of these days. This one is a lot bigger then the Comicon I used to go to with Ellen back in '79 at the Ramada Inn on Kingsway.

Earlier yesterday afternoon I got a email from our upcoming lodge secretary to sign a form out to Grand Lodge. October is going to be a stressful month for me but after that its a easy slide out of the Worshipful Master's chair and I take the immediate past masters chair (or ipm) and no responsibility. It's been a long journey from being Tyler in 2008 to WM in 2014. I'll be relieved when it's our last meeting in December and I'm having a beer at the festive board. Looking forward to that.

I signed up to Fan Duel the other day (fantasy sports betting) and as soon as I get some funds together I'd like to get involved in that. Should be a lot of fun. If I bet $2 and gain $3, I'd be happy. Anyway that's all for now, "Go Esks Go!

As I went into work yesterday

morning a little tired, but feeling good about the day ahead. Work went along well. I was happy feeling productive and logged off and headed home. Coming into the apartment forty minutes later the phone rang as soon as I barely hung  up my coat. The supervisor said my shifts for today and Friday are cancelled. The client has decided to scale back the project to evening calling as projects across the board are closing down, with no work as far as I know, for next week. So I got 2 days off and the weekend.

I got on the phone and called about another job and spoke with somebody there about coming in for a face to face meeting. I said I need to consult with someone else first but I'd call back today, and I will. It's telemarketing but there's no cold calling and its for the same pay. The hours are 5-9. So I'm going to call this afternoon and see if I can go in Friday, and if I get hired on do that 4 days and the other job on the weekends and have my Friday nights off. At least this morning I can sleep in so that's a good thing. Anyway, that's all for now.

Tuesday, September 23, 2014

I think I got about 4 hours of sleep

overnight. From about 6am onward rls has been for the  most part keeping me awake. Sleep was hard to come by after that. Also, overnight heat of the day didn't help much.

As for today I'm in for a easy 5 hour shift, in and out. After that I hope to be home by 4pm have a quick nap for an hour get dressed and ready for lodge tonight. It's going to be a great night as they are conferring a degree and I'm going to relax at the festive board, have a cold beer home tonight do some stuff and back to bed.

Last night's wrestling was kind of lame. Ordinarily after a pay per view, the show is pretty good. Then it slows down and builds up until the next pay per view. I slept through a lot of Raw last night, which is probably another reason why I didn't sleep so well. Anyway that's about all for now.

Monday, September 22, 2014

Yesterday we got up to

+28 and its supposed to go that way again for today. Anytime we can get weather like this is a blessing, especially this time of year when its officially the first day of fall.

I'm in the office downtown at my market research job this morning from 10-3pm this afternoon. It's a short 5 hour shift and a 10 minute break. I need the hours. I'm looking at another job not far away from Grant MacEwan University. Behind MC the neighborhood is rather ghetto and I'd have to take a bus there, which means a transfer. Coming back from that area isn't great but there's a shell station across the street. I only need a couple of shifts but I'm going to see what today brings. I haven't got anything for the upcoming weekend. We're barely going to make our rent for October.and we'll be paying our bills in October.

Not just that stress but I've got lodge elections coming. Plus if that's not enough, Anne is pushing me to get something to do during the day even if it's just three days a week. I'm not sure if this new job prospect will be the answer. Also, after work today I' popping into Audrey's hoping I can delay picking up that Warhammer 40k CD until the end of the month. Yeesh. Anyway, that's all for now.

Saturday, September 20, 2014

Here we are in mid September already

and it's +17 out there, nice.

The plan was to head out to lodge this afternoon but something else came up that was a bit more urgent. My own lodge business. I've been trying to get a "investigative team" together to meet with one of our new candidates for membership. He want's to be SW and is a new IPM from a lodge in our District. I've also got his nomination form for him to sign and and I need a letter of good standing because he wont be at lodge the  night of our elections coming up soon. I'll be doing this later this afternoon as he's picking me up for coffee and maybe I can get him to pull into Petro Can gas station just over here and get my Sunday Proline picks.

A couple nights ago shortly after I got fired from Pizza my wife talked to somebody that she was training. This lady apparently worked at Pizza before so she was just kind of helping her along. So in a conversation between calls Anne mentioned about me and this lady gave her a couple of places for me to try out. Anne didn't get the numbers last night but a name stuck in her mind and from there she got more info when she got home and I searched and got the phone number. I'll be calling this place Monday morning. Maybe I can work 4 days at my market research job and 2 days on the weekends there and have Friday nights off. Its about the same money as my market research job.

Other then that quick meeting this afternoon and pop into pick up my proline picks, I'm going to be missing the first half of the Eskimo/Hamilton football game. My Sunday picks are for the 2 Sunday CFL and the Denver/Seattle game. I'm picking Seahawks to win but it could be a close low scoring game

All next week I'm in from 10-3pm, which means I have my nights off and I can go visit Highlands Unity lodge Tuesday night. That's if I'm not working at the other place. Anyway, that's all for now.

Geriatirc complications are

nudging me. Most noticeably as of late is what's called restless leg syndrome. Or rls. No I don't have dementia due to spelling errors. Those happen when I'm in a hurry or slightly rushed, or lazy. Rls is one of my main concerns right now. Sleep has become very difficult lately without the aid of a pill. I'm constantly tossing and turning in bed. It feels like I overdosed on coffee. All part of getting old and being diabetic.

I've got a unexpected long weekend what with losing my job at Pizza 73 Wednesday night. I really wanted to make that work. Right now, as long as my market research job can keep me going permanent part time, all I need is Friday nights off and I'll be fine. It's when they cut me back I'll be putting in 3 days with them and 3 days somewhere else. For now, I'm just happy to work my market research job until it slows down.

My weekend so far: Beginning with this evening, I'm watching the Argo's/BC cfl game and Friday night Smackdown. Saturday I'm out of here about noon for Freemason Hall visiting Commercial lodge for the afternoon, have a adult beverage as the festive board for guests (me) is free. Then head for home and watch what's left of the Esks/Hamilton game. I'm also following my proline cfl games and get another proline ticket at the 7-11 before lodge on my way. I was almost ready to go to Horseshoe lounge to watch the "Night of Champions," but with getting canned at Pizza, I can't justify all of that.

I was working on a track in Maschine last night having a good time following the Kansas State vs. Auburn Point College football game. It was a close game until about the 4th quarter when Auburn took control and went from 10-7 to 20 -14. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, September 18, 2014

About 8am yesterday morning Anne screams waiking me

up. I have geriatric issues called restless legs syndrome. Or RLS. It took me 3 hours just to get to sleep from there and after she woke up screaming, I might have had an hours sleep. This came about because Anne likes to have our Siamese cat Sporty dig his claws into her but it got too much, which woke us up. Shit happens.

Earlier this week I got my medical benefits appeal form and I've got to go through even more hoops and more of the same to get any extended benefits for my teeth and diabetes supplies then before. As for getting my dentures I'm about as far away from that as I am for my computer upgrade. If I put my name on the UA dental program waiting list, in about a year I can get students to work on my teeth for free. Most likely pcn will say something like, if you wan t to continue getting free insulin, you need to go through these steps other wise we wont be able to continue funding you. I think my Doctor might have  something to say about this. It's not all bad news. or is it? Read on:

So much tenure at Pizza 73. The pay wasn't that great even less then my current job. I really wanted to keep this job but they wanted 85% on a test of 84 questions. The first time I did this Thursday I got about 30% of it. They put me next to some lady named pat. She said if I have any questions just ask. I got moved a couple of times because the station wasn't cooperating with me. Then last night I got about 65% and the supervisor encouraged me to try again. It was about 9:45pm and I was working away then that Pat lady cam up to me and had a chat and then asked me into some office and fired me. Then she wanted to shake hands with me. I wasn't in the mood and she never hired me. I wasn't feeling very good on the way home. All this while yesterday I was emailing my boss saying how I wouldn't be in for Wednesday and Friday. Now I'm back for Friday again and more shifts next week. In other words, I'm back to square 1. I'm a long way away from getting my pc upgrade now. This is 3 jobs I lost within the last 5 months. I'm 23 months away from applying for my pension. So now what? I'm not unemployed or anything but I've got just enough hours to make my bottom line.

In one week I lost an appeal (may as well have.) to get medical benefits and a job that was steady and held a lot of promise. I'm not having a good week. Did I mention I'm just 23 months away from applying for my pension? Anyway, that's all for now.

Lots going on lately

what with bouncing back between the 2 jobs over the weekend and all. What there was a weekend in there a few days ago?

Anne took this photo of me about 3:05pm today. Just thought I'd include it in as a update:

I'm in at the mr job for 5-9 later this afternoon, then I have to explain why I wont be in this week for tomorrow or and Friday bit we have Saturday Sunday at the mr job, which means I can visit Commercial Saturday around noon and then head up to my inbound call centre job. I don't see myself lasting beyond the month with that one because the training part of it is so hard. My wife says it's as easy as ABC. Well, sure if you've been doing it for awhile. If all goes well, I hope to go to Lodge Saturday have a bite to eat and shot of Drambuie or something and head into work for 6 hours. Then Sunday late afternoon, I'm going to Horseshoe up over here to watch "Night of Champions." I think that could be my only day off.

We're getting some really nice weather lately. I love being outside when I can this time of year. We're finally getting our Indian Summer. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Sunday, September 14, 2014

Sunny Sunday is a good title

for this post this morning. Were going to be in for some nicer weather this week.

Edmonton transit service otherwise known as ETS, is shutting down LRT service today. They (ETS/ets) recently installed new signaling on all their cars as they are testing the new signaling system across the line all day. They usually do this about once a month on a Sunday as ets is trying to bring the new Metro extension online. They have replacement buses at Clareview, which run about every 10 minutes. Its a minor inconvenience but they had signs posted everywhere all week.

I worked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (new job) Friday off for lodge, 7 hours yesterday and 4 hours at the new job. I've been busy all week and what with lodge Friday night and learning the new system at the new job, its been busy. Plus I'm in for 6 hours today (I get a half hour break) The worst of all of this is both jobs pay periods end on the same day. My 2nd job yesterday gave me a plastic pass key to get into the building after hours as the Canadian Western bank building shuts it's doors at 6pm on a Saturday. They also charge me a $20 deposit fee on it off my first cheque. This month is going to be challenging to say the least.

On my cfl proline ticket I have Al's/Esks, Edmonton to win. That's 1 game. Then yesterday, Winnipeg/BC BC to win. That one came in yesterday. That's 2 out of 3. The long shot is a "Tie" Riders/Hamilton. On my NFL ticket, I have Seattle/SD, Seattle to win, NY/GB Green Bay to win, and the Riders game to make parley. The only thing is I have no way to check in on the games because unlike the other job,at this one I can't gain Internet access. If Hamid is there, he usually checks for me a couple of times in the shift. Sometimes I can get access from the hotel across the street. Anyway, that's all for now.

Friday, September 12, 2014

I was out of here

about noon earlier to run down to the bank and in at the other job to give them a deposit form.

I'm about ready to head out of here for lodge in about an hour. I also had a bit of a cat nap after I did my banking and I'm out of here in about 45 minutes. I have well built agenda, should be a great night.

Then I'm up and at er at 9am tomorrow for 6.5 hours and hustling out of there at 5:30 to get to the inbound call centre job. At least for that one I'm just job shadowing. That's another 6.5 hours for a total of 13 hours. Including the commute that's about 14.5 hours. on my way home, I'll probably pass out at Clareview. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, September 11, 2014

Finally we have some Sun

out there. Its supposed to warm up gradually next week as we're getting some +21's and +23's in there.

I've still got my market research job but since mid May I've been getting just the odd day here and there. Around the end of May I began working with Rob at Crime Watch. I lasted 3 days out of that. At the end of June I worked June and July for Direct Buy but that didn't work out. Now I have another job. They put their new people (me) on a 3 month probation to learn the job etc. According to my wife I made a good impression with the person that interviewed me. I'm working right in the heart of downtown Edmonton on the 17th floor facing East. I'll have a great view of all the construction downtown, like the Rogers place arena project etc. Plus I'll have access to my email at work, there's a 7-11 right next door so I can get my proline tickets and keep track of my games when calls are slow. I almost for got to get a DBD form but I'll swing down to my Scotia bank and get that tomorrow am and bring it in and head back home and get ready for lodge. I should have done that, this the morning but I slept in, again. Anyway that's all for now.

Wednesday, September 10, 2014

Usually I sleep over my 8

on Sundays but today I over slept from 4am this morning until about 10 minutes ago. If Anne had a day off, I'd still be sleeping until about 2pm.

The only downside about this 2nd job is that there is no bus out of Clareview after 1am. The last bus out is about 1am and I'm on the train. When I get to Corona station at 9pm and if I miss the first train at about 9:10pm, there's always another train. If I miss this train at 1:20am I'm stranded downtown until 5am. I should have went from 6-12:30 but I'm locked into these hours for three months. If I pass the 3 month probation period then in the new year I'll go for the 6:12:30am shift. If our lodge goes back to Thursday nights that'd be great because after my WM chair I'm considering Royal Arch (also meets on a Thursday). RA is a concordant body of York Rite Masonry. With this new job I might even affiliate with Commercial. The nice thing for me after January is I don't need to take a chair. With Commercial its a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon before I walk to my job a block away. With my job if my calls are slow I can check out my Sports scores on my work monitor and get my proline at the 7-11 next door.

As for Lodge, this Friday is going to be a busy night, what with receiving GL officers official visits, balloting. Once the balloting has been completed I'll breathe sigh of relief and the close out is easy. Then it's retire to the festive board have a beer and relax. My position is almost like a part time job in itself but the pay off means after next year I'll get a IPM certificate and lay claim to the prefix wm James Shannon. That's what my prefix is now but then I'll I wont have the duties as a wm. I still have after Friday, its our elections and the district meeting but that's in October on a Saturday afternoon. After that in November we have Remembrance day and then installation. After Installation in December, is when I can really breath a sigh of relief

Tonight, I have a easy 4 hours 5-9 and if all goes well, I hope to have Sunday off. Gives me a chance to recharge the batteries after that long day Saturday. Sunday, I might be able to even watch some Doctor who and some football as well. Anyway that's all for now.

Tuesday, September 9, 2014

My interview downtown turned out

good so that's a positive sign. I basically got hired on the spot. I've now got 2 jobs, one is inbound calling the other outbound. No selling at either job. I start Thursday from 6-1 and I go from 6-1am Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. They are flexible as far as taking that 2nd Friday night off. The other job is from Sunday noon-8pm and Monday 5-9. I'll have Tuesday's off. That's good because it gives me a chance to get out for Doctors appointments, errands, shopping etc. It's also good because when Commercial has lodge on the 3rd Saturday, my Saturday lodge from 1pm to about 4pm is a block South from my lodge to my 2nd job. It also is good because I can have about an hour to get a bite to eat there and take part in the festive board a bit before I go to work. Both jobs combined help me to meet my obligations and a bit something for me.
The other thing, last night (I knew it was coming) our DDGM sent me a pdf checklist of a bunch of things he was looking for. It's got something like 24 points to cover but the secretary is out looking for that end. We have some leeway but not much. I'll be so relieved when this is all over with. Just 4 months to go.

The other good thing about the new job is I have internet access. When calls are slow or on a break, I can take a peek at the Sports scores and check on my email etc.

In a couple of hours I'm heading out of here for my evening job. If everything works out ok, Wednesday night I'll put in my availability at the other job for Sunday and Monday. Saturday is problematic because I'll be at the one job 10-6 and the other job 6-1pm. I'll ask Thursday if I can come in at 7pm because I screwed up my scheduling. It still means a 16 hour day for me. Or I can ask at t he 10am job to leave a half hour early, uggh. Anyway, that's all for now.

Monday, September 8, 2014

It hasn't been this cold since around

April. We're supposed to warm up about Friday and next week we're getting some +18. Its a cold night ot be out for sure.

When I was ready to go to lodge about 5:45pm it was teaming with rain. Anne had me wear the poncho again but the rain was letting up as she came to out visit me in the bus shelter. My bus came by at 6pm and I caught the lrt to Rexall, wondering why the parking lot was full. I learned later that the Canadian country music awards were being held there. If that was enough we had the "Tour Alberta" cycling race wrapping up downtown yesterday. I got to lodge and there were already a few guys waiting. I've got a busy Friday night and my JW wasn't there. He said in a email he'd bring the festive board. I hope so. He's also got to bring the bar and a few other things as well. I'll be glad when this month and next month are over.

I had some mild dental pain last night that kept me awake for a few hours. It was hard to get to sleep. I took some pain relief and I feel much better.

I've got work tonight at my downtown job I've got a job interview downtown. I'm hoping I can work both part time jobs. One is in bound where my wife works and the other is market research. That's the one I'm in from 5-9 this afternoon. The first job is steady, the 2nd one isn't. If I get hired on tomorrow (Tuesday) I'll work one during the week and overlap the other one on the weekend.Something like that. Tonight it's 5-9, Tuesday afternoon job interview, Wednesday working, Thursday (training at the other job) and Friday lodge and Saturday 2-6 at the market research job and 7-1 at the new job. Saturday could be a 11 hour day. Same with Sunday. Monday I'm having off, I hope. Depends on what I get locked into

So I have a busy week ahead and I'll be glad when its this time next week. After Friday when it's all said and done, I'm having a beer at lodge to celebrate. Anyway, that's all for now.

Sunday, September 7, 2014

It was a 3 point game heading into the

half then Calgary opened the flood gates and the sleeping Esks fell way behind in the 3rd. Too be fair the Stampeders don't have a 9-1 record for nothing. Without the injured Mike Riley the Esks put up a bit of a fight near the end scoring 2 majors. It was too little to late in a 41-34 Calgary win. There was a major Edmonton fumble that gave the Stamps momentum. Turnovers and penalties is what killed the game for the Eskimos in their new signature big EE jersey's. So much for my 3 game proline tie ticket. Stamps have beaten us 11 straight games now. I forgot all about the Seahawk's game today and I could have put them on the cfl double header. Not to self: In any Stamp/Esks match up always bet Calgary to win. Next weekend have the Seahawk's on my ticket.

I'm watching football for the most part this afternoon now that the NFL is back. After that I'm heading out of here for a lodge practice. I'm under pressure by some of my senior lodge members who don't like the way I'm running lodge, but after Friday I just have 3 more months and I'm a bum in a chair in the New Year. I'm not getting a lot of positive reinforcement. After my IPM year maybe I ought to join up with another lodge, I don't know.

The Alberta pc leadership race ended yesterday and my guy Lukaszuk didn't get elected in a 3 way race. Jim Prentice got 77% of the votes, Ric McIver, received 12%, and my guy Thomas Lukaszuk got 11%. McIver's reputation during the 2011 campaign did him in with his march for Jesus initiative, which sabotaged the Wild Rose campaign. The only reason why I think Prentice got elected was because he resides in Calgary. Lukaszuk was already in the pc caucus and already had experience and knew his way around the legislature.  He didn't win because he's a mla residing in Edmonton. The pc leadership was decided on geographic lines nothing more. Next election, I'm voting Wild Rose. Anyway that's all for now.

Friday, September 5, 2014

I might have a busy

day of things today. I'm up and out of here to Northgate to my pcn to drop off the adult benefits letter I received and a hand written letter of appeal from me, then home. I've got a 3:30pm telephone interview tomorrow afternoon for a job. We went through 11 email exchanges yesterday. Hopefully that will translate into something positive.

After Anne left for her job yesterday. I caught the #182 Fraser bus to Clareview and a transfer and got my cfl proline picks for the weekend. Then to the hair stylist near Walmart. The lady there didn't know what short meant even after I gave the hint that I get a hair cut twice a year. I was losing my patience with her and I got up saying something like "Sorry, it's not your fault. I should go to m regular barber, he  knows how I want my hair cut," and left. I was pissed off and headed back home but I knew there was another hair stylist place actually across the street from me. I can look out my window and see its sign even now. The gal there knew what I meant and gave me a great haircut. After that I went to Future shop to look around. They have the ebook reader I want: The Kobo Aura. They also have the 4Tb hard drive I'm looking at getting and the hard drive dock as well. The last two components in my pc upgrade. I'll probably get the hard drive dock at Future Shop and the ereader. Eventually. After that I went to Bo Didlies a bar across the street from me and I had a pint of Molson Dry and headed home to watch the Seahawks nfl season opener with Green Bay packers. I worked on my track and followed the game after the first half waiting for Anne to call.

I was never a fan of Joan Rivers but I'd be in remiss if I didn't mention her passing away yesterday at the age of 81. Hollywood lost 2 comedians, Robin Williams and Joan Rivers. Anyway, that's about all for now.

A slight change of plans for today

I'm getting my hair cut across the street in the morning and then a trip downtown and then Northgate, Friday. I'll do the unemployment thing possibly Monday. In the meantime I have a little shoe fly buzzing around here. I think that spray banished it.

Saturday I'm on the couch watching the Stamps/Esks for last weekends rubber match. Also, the Esks have unveiled their 3rd jersey and sporting new helmets. I'm Looking forward to having the Esks bring the Stamps to their own 8-2 record.

When Anne called from work on her break I was able to catch a Doctor Who episode with the new Doctor Peter Capaldi: "Into the Dalek." I must admit, I like him and Jenna Coleman played along side him and they looked like they worked very well together. I thought the episode was very good. I didn't get all of it but the episode last night was right up there with anything Matt Smith could have done. Other then Wrestling, it's the only current thing on TV I can relate to.

Sunday I have a lodge practice at Highlands Hall at 7pm. Next Friday is lodge night. Four more meetings and I'm done. After that, I'm just a bum in a chair, and I'm looking forward to that in the new year. Anyway, that's all for now.

Back in job hunting mode

again. I got 2.5 years of this crap to go through before I'm on full pension. Then it's just work part time for pocket money. I'm counting the days.

This afternoon I learned I have no work at my downtown job this week and possibly next week as well, not good. Tomorrow I'm heading out early before Anne goes to work and get a much needed haircut and then over to Service Canada (sc) and ask how do I file for unemployment. I haven't been in this position since before I got married in almost 15 years. Then I've got to get to Northgate to my pcn at and drop off the rejection letter they sent me, and my appeal letter in response to not getting Alberta adult health benefits. My pcn worker today said she's suggested this path for others and for my situation, she supported them and they got their benefits based on that. As for unemployment I'm sure the process doesn't end with one visit to sc. I also need to look into getting a sin card for my sin number as well, so I can do all of that at Canada Place/sc tomorrow. Anne took my resume into where she works and that could lead to something, maybe. If I could work 2-3 days a week where she works and on unemployment (as others have, Anne tells me) where Anne works, I could live like that for 6 months. It depends on whether or being on unemployment makes sense for me.

As for tonight I'm working on my track taking it easy before my run-a-round tomorrow. If I don't get anything at my downtown job by the end of next week, I'm moving on. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Sunday I took the wife out for a

late brunch at Rickies but they ran out of hash browns. It was kind of lame but for $25, it was ok. it was a chance to get out as well. I went ot Coles to see if they had the Kobo Aura in but they were out of stock. I'm looking at getting this later this month.

Today I'm watching the Esks/Calgary in the labour Day Classic. I've been looking forward to this game since our first loss they handed us in June. It's payback time. Then I'm watching Monday night Raw. I have a full day today.

I'm still a bit choked over losing my Direct Buy job. I still have my downtown job but if they don't have any hours for me this week. I'm going to apply for ei saying that all my downtown job has for me are just a few hours here and there until they get going again. The boss thinks sometime this week or next but at least we have enough for September's rent and the bus pass.

Tuesday I've got to call the pcn worker who is helping me get some medical benefits that I was turned down about last month. I have a brief window of opportunity for appeal. I might have a week off but I have a shit load of stuff to do this week and I need to get myself a haircut. Anne and I are going down to Employabilities as I'm getting her started there and I'm using their computers. Then we're going over to Taco Bell in City Centre mall for a bite to eat and then home.

I'm having a great weekend so far despite losing my job Friday night. I'm going to call one of my colleagues there (I have their cell # ) around Remembrance day just to get an update. See if any of my pr's have been turned into members. I'm more or less over losing the job and now it's time to move forward. I can't wait until I get my full pension. Anyway, that's all for now.
