What with work and everything

it's been a long month. At some point over the next day or 2, I need to get my flu shot. The pharmacy across the street has walk-ins.

Thursday is my lodge night so when I'm at the pharmacy I can even get cash back at their till. Sweet. Anyway, that's all for now.

Anne and I have been wanting to

get out of here to get a bite to eat for a while now. As of last week, work got in the way and the weather went bad on us. As it did again overnight. We got a dusting of snow out there. I'm up for going out.

I think this is one of the worst starts to the seasons the Oilers have had since 2018 even with McDavid. Right now they are 1 & 6. I have a gut feeling that this year McDavid will exercise his NMC option. $12.5 million USD is a lot of bucks as McDavid is nearing the peak of his prime in hockey years. 8 years is a long time. The Oilers have yet to get to the finale. Anyway, that's all for now.

After a 3 year delay

is the Edmonton Valley line LRT about be activated? The $1.8B project has been met with setback after setback. Finally it was announced today that next Saturday November 4th 5pm, the Valley line LRT will be open to the public. Apprently. I'll believe it when I see it. This is the first time that a LRT will be going above ground in the downtown core.

Yesterday I completed the first revision of my short story based upon my editors recomendations. Then she's going to do one more walk through grammar check. Then I can send it out and wait for the inevitable rejection slips. Next month, I'm writing the next story and that goes out to the same editor and so on.

Earlier today I completed my Halloween beat. It's mostly samples from Pixlebay and an Ai photo generated in Canva. The major news of the day though is I got to 200 subscribers. I would like too open Patreon. Not sure how to proceed with this yet. Anyway, that's all for now.

The project ended

yesterday. It was a tough one to do because there was no 15-minute break and the survey is so short getting 2/hour is nothing. I was getting 4/hour. At one point I got 22 completes in one shift. I'm constantly talking with someone. The Province doesn't allow for a 15-minute break on a 4-hour shift. There used to be a 15-minute break as of maybe 2017. When the next project is 🤷‍♂️

For the last number of days Anne has been trying to get an Amazon return from this shipping company we have never heard of before. Finally, the driver arrived at about 2 p.m.

We have an overcast day out there and it looks cold. It's +2 feels like 0*. The wind is out of the East @ 9 Kmh. Meteorologists are still calling for 3* but I doubt it. Welcome to late October in Edmonton.

Friday, October 20, 2023

😃It's a Friday mid-late afternoon

about ready to start my shift. I doubt we'll be done tonight but most likely we will tomorrow. I could use a week off. Or this might be it for the rest of the year🤷‍♂️ I'm hoping we're done tonight but Super might have us working to 9 and done the project ðŸ¤·‍♂️Out from this I hope to take care of a major bill.

I still have yet to hear from my Royal Arch contact as it's been almost 2 weeks now. He said how he would have my petition read in his lodge and ballot the same night. I'm hoping I'll have my Mark master's degree before the end of the year.

We have one more shift for tomorrow. It will give us a few more hours. I managed 12 completes as it was a slow Friday night for me.  Anyway, that's all for now.

I had a decent shift last night

pulling in 16 completes. I have to remember don't clean a touch screen while I have everything set up. It cost me about 5 minutes into my shift. and I would have had more.

Anne received her Amazon order but we were anticipating a pick up for return. the driver failed to arrive at the allotted time. We rebooked it for Friday instead.

Not a lot going on this week. I need to book for my Covid & Flue shot and I'll probably do that today. Anyway, that's all for now.

The project survey we're doing

is so short it takes less than 5 minutes to complete. Normally in a 4-hour shift, I can achieve a flow rate easily enough which is 2 completes/hour. I did 22 which is a record for me.

Around 2pm I placed an order from the Walmart pharmacy for sometime later this week pickup. Anne usually does that for me.

My main concern coming up is my petition for Royal Arch (RA). I emailed my contact the petition but he has been concerned about other things pressing on his mind. I called him last Friday but so far he has yet to return my call. I'm optimistic and interested but he needs to get my petition before next week so it can be read in the lodge and balloted the same night. If I fail to hear from my contact by next week then well, idk. Anyway, that's all for now.

What with work and stuff

going on around here I've been neglecting my posting. Not that it's been busy but just got caught up in a few things.

Yesterday the Elks at Commonwealth showed promise in the 1st Q leading 21 3, That was all the Elks during their last home game could get. The score was 35-21 Montreal at the finale The Oilers couldn't keep up with the Canucks at home. The Last time the Oilers had a start like this was 2018-19. Stewart Skinner was in the net this time. The Oilers are @ Nashville on Tuesday.

We had Saturday off because the new sample wasn't ready. It's back to work tomorrow as I have a full week. Including Saturday. Anyway, hat's all for now.

It's been a past long weekend

around here and around the world I won't go into details and those are unfolding daily. My heart goes out to the people of Isreal that has been affected by the incidents in and near Gaza. I stand by Israel.

Back to work yesterday. Day 2 on the project. We're going to the 27th. Moving forward I think I'm going to go from 4-8 all the time. Gives me a chance to watch most of the Oilers games. Their season begins today.

I've heard nothing back from my Royal Arch contact. I'm not sure he even got the email containing my application. I'll give him a call tomorrow and see what happens. Anyway, not much going on around here. I'm 4-8 again.  Anyway, that's all for now.

This 4 day long weekend

went by way too fast. One minute I'm watching the Elks/Argo's and in an eyeblink here I am. Tomorrow, this time I'll be 30 minutes to closing and closing off the shift.

I didn't get any writing done because I wanted the weekend off. However, I did get my YouTube video published to my channel. "World Flute Trap." That video got me 5 comments, 6 likes, and 1 sub. #196. I'm 4 away from activating Patreon. I'm thinking 3 tiers. The first tier $10/month gets their name in gold letters scrolling at the bottom of the screen and their logo is displayed on my video and access to my personal email. $5/month, their name gets scrolled across the length of the screen and links to their channels before the comments. $1/month gets their links on the screen. Something to that effect. Not sure yet.

Tomorrow is day 2 of the project. I'll be working like that all week. Hopefully, I can meet with my Royal Arch contact to get that petition to him and the appropriate fee. Also this week I need to get my flu shot as well. Anyway, that's all for now.

I hope everyone is having

a nice long Thanksgiving day weekend. The weather is great. I'm working. I might have an opportunity to expand my Masonic horizons a bit. More info on that as it happens.

There are lots of Halloween events happening in Edmonton throughout the month of October Here are just a few spooky events:

• Fort Edmonton Park has their annual DarkHaunted Festival. Filled with killer clowns and killer food. For more details and to book tickets check it out here.

• Pumpkins After Dark is a walk-through experience at Borden Park. Featuring amazing sculptures and over 10,000 pumpkins! It’s open from 7-10pm and tickets cost ~$20.

• For a little less scary of an event, happening north of Edmonton is the Haunted Pumpkin Festival. Open every weekend at Prairie Gardens it features a U-pick, corn mazes, hay rides, and other farm-related activities. To find out more visit their website.

I think I'll have enough work to last me until the end of the year. Anyway, that's all for now.

At lodge last night

I made a contact for RA, and I got the name and phone number. He said he would sponsor me and I'll be calling him when I get up this. Hopefully, I can get everything set up right away and take my MM* before the end of the year. Things are moving fast

Day one of the shift on Wednesday was excellent. Looks like I could get 20 hours in before the cut-off and a full cheque by the end of the month.  We're going to go to the 27th.

I canceled my subscription to Logic Pro iPad because I wasn't using it as much as I wanted. I opted to renew my subscription to Canva pro. They have a new Ai photo feature that looks interesting. Anyway, that's all for now.

Earlier this morning

I had a bit of a scare as our internet went down. The last thing I need is for that to happen just before we begin a new project. Anne made a quick call to tech support. They were aware of the outage and no sooner had Anne gotten off the phone, than the internet was restored. Prior to the last project in June, I had an illness that took out ~ 75% of my hearing. I went through that whole project being sick. A few days later, my health was back to normal levels. I was concerned because we were beginning a new project, I'd be offline, and history with some other snag before a new project would repeat itself. Yet I'm good to go for 4pm.

After my 4-hour shift tonight I have 5 days off. I anticipate this to be a short project anyway closing around the end of the month and nothing forthcoming for the rest of the year. Never say never.

Our initial Greater Edmonton Foundation (gef) housing contact for low-income seniors is no longer with the organization. I kind of suspected this to be the case. Enter our new contact. While on the phone with her earlier, she said we can put our name into more than 3 properties. We also need health documentation and confirmation on who will take our cats if and when we pass away.  That's the hardest part of any of this. Anyway, that's all for now.

It's confirmed I have work

beginning tomorrow 4-8, off Friday because of the long weekend. Back at it Tuesday. That's about all I can say about the project. I've done this one once before and it's a good one.

My wife's sister, Pat has her husband of 77 years old in a Cape Breton hospital. Anne and Pat do Facetime every Monday at 6pm. They've been out to visit us a few times but nice since we've been at our new location. We're concerned for Barry's health to say the least.

The good news about this project because it's Thanksgiving weekend, and we're off Friday until Tuesday. I've been off for 6 months. It's going to be a short project with no indication of whether or not we have another project after this. Oh well, it is what it is as the kids say. Anyway, that's all for now.
