with. The 2019 Canadian Federal election. The overall concensus was calling for a Liberal minority. What that means is the Liberals can't really do anything unless they get support from the other party's. Its going to make Government slower. The TMX pipeline can still go ahead, without the input of the other parties. We voted Conservative and our guy got in by a landslide for Edmonton Manning. Here's a CBC breakdown of the results:
I hope, now that the election is all over with, we can get some movement on work. Hopefully, I'll get a call tomorrow night to start Wednesday and go in for Friday. I might get just 2 days in but its better then nothing.
Oilers are in Minnesota tomorrow night, Thursday night I have a meeting. Unless there's work, not much going on for the rest of the week and weekend. I got a Riders/Esks game to watch at 5pm Saturday, and the Oilers are hosting the Florida Panthers Sunday. So not much going on. I've got another track I'm putting together hopefully before the month is out. I'm just hoping for work. Anyway, that's all for now.

Yesterday I had another
dental appointment. Two more extractions on the road to dentures. Next appointment will be on the 23rd. The hard part about yesterday's appointment was when the Doctor put the needle in my inside cheek. It felt cold and that was in both locations. All that for 2 teeth! They were closer to the cheek, which is why the Doctor gave me the 2 injections. The first tooth was relatively smaller. The end tooth, took about 5 minutes, uggh. I left out of there at 3:15pm and walked the almost 2k home inside by 4pm. I took a cab there to the dentist. I've got 8 more extractions. Surprisingly, even though there was a lot of blood loss, I never felt like a #presidentpussyassbitch! Whatever that means.
Tonight I'm off to Edmonton #7 have a cold beer, enjoy the evening. I have a counselling session Thursday, and the weekend off to make some music. I released a pt. 2 of a drum and bass inspired type thing. Not sure where I'm going with it though. I'll be making another post probably Thursday. Anyway, that's all for now.

That was over 6 hours of
wrestling that ended shortly before 10pm. Brock Lesnar defeated Dean Ambrose but not by much. The Undertaker defeated Shane sending Shane out on a stretcher. That match took a lot out of the Undertaker. Triple H lost to Roman Reigns while Triple H got help from Stephanie. Triple H got his wife into harms way as Reigns delivered a spear that Triple H avoided not aware his wife was nearby. Roman Reigns is the new world heavy weight champion. I like the return of John Cena to join up with The Rock facing off the Wyatt family. I was surprised that Zack Rider won the Intercontinental. The Diva's tile is now retired and is now called the Woman's championship title. So much more but those were the highlights.
I'm leaving out of here at my usual 3pm time. It's 4:15pm - 8:30pm. Hopefully I'll get a ride home. I'll be picking up a iTunes card after Joyce drops me off at Shoppers drug mart. I'd like to order Loopy and Audio Share. I'll be working at the 8:30pm job until Wednesday but until I get the call from my other job I'll be at the 8:30pm job. I'm thinking this might be my last year with the market research job. I'll have enough ei hours from both jobs just before the Christmas break and my 8:30pm job ends May 15th. I can apply for ei and get it by the end of June. The ei will cover me until the end of August when my pension comes in. Anyway, that's all for now.

Last nights
wrestling pay per view "Royal Rumble" was surprising in many ways. Seeing A.J.Styles debut at the WWE was a shocker. He was mostly with Impact wrestling for years. Anne and I ate our pizza and enjoyed the show but near the end, totally out of left field who comes out? Triple H! What? And for the 14th time, Triple H wins the WWE title. Shocker. Also in keeping with sports, the Oilers Sunday had their annual inter squad skills competition. What made it such a historic event was they used a rainbow colored tape on the blade of their hockey sticks. This gesture is to help observe gay pride and to make the Oilers a more inclusive hockey club. Its a good idea. From Bill Ross's FB page:

I'm going to go get my haircut today and then at Corona station do a follow up call on that job. See if I can get them a real resume and maybe even go their in person. I'd have to use the Nait line to get there. That's if I get the ok to do that. They might even call me tonight while I'm out. Outside of that if that doesn't happen, I'd like to go out to Dairy Queen for an ice cream/Southgate and then home. "We ran out of numbers at 6pm and no shift Tuesday but back Wednesday," type thing. Tuesday I plan on visiting Edmonton #7 as they are conferring the same degree we are in February. It'll give me a chance to see how this is done as spectator and watch my counterpart do his work. I an get a bite to eat there and have a beer as well. Sounds like a good idea. Anyway, that's all for now.

I had a relaxing
couple of days and that was Thanksgiving weekend. Anne cooked a great Turkey dinner. I watched Monday night Raw and wrapped things up for the night. The next stat day will be Remembrance day and that's on a Wednesday in November. After that its nothing until Christmas. Today I'm in the office from 4-9:30pm home by 10:30pm. At least I'll have the Super keep me informed about the Oiler/Dallas game and I can get the scores while I'm at Corona station. Anyway, that's all for now.
This weeks highlights began with holiday Monday. Wednesday is the $50M 6/49 draw. Friday I'm curious as to what my rate of pay will look like since min wage was increased. This is the first pay cheque since the Province raised min wage. Saturday, I'm considering lodge but that depends if we election night off next week. Anyway, that's all for now.

We're having a nice Indian summer here in
Edmonton. Today (Saturday) we got up to 25.5. Unbelievable. It was dark by the time I got home, however.
Yesterday the lotto 6/49 jackpot was worth $41M. Nobody claimed the prize, so the amount is increased to $50M on Wednesday. I'm buying a ticket of course and I might even buy into the office pool for Wednesday's draw.
I have 2 days off. I'm looking forward to pension. If Anne and I still have our health, I'd work 3 days/week the last week of the month and go to lodge and watch Oiler games. Works for me.
This week, I've got Sunday and Monday off (Monday with pay) Its a regular work week but I'm having Saturday off for lodge. Anyway, that's all for now.

This week is going to be jam packed
to say the least. This morning I've got to get on the phone with ei and find out whats going on and what happened to when I tried doing all of this on Friday? Then Tuesday I've got banking to do, Wednesday is Canada Day where I get a day and night to myself. Thursday I'm off to my PCN for a
10am appointment. Friday on my way into work its to the lab for that blood work, yeesh.
Eskimo's QB Mike Riley is out indefinitely with a knee injury in Saturday's game against the Argo's. I hope Riley recovers and is able to play again. Most likely Matt Nichols, will fill in during the meantime. For the most part, there goes our season.
What a difference a year makes. This time last year our unemployment rate was 4.5 now it's 5.8 and that's borderline recession territory. I just hope I can keep my job until pension but the Alberta NDP want to raise minimum wage to $12 hour in October eventually to $15. That's crazy. The NDP in Saskatchewan didn't even do that. That can't be good news. It doesn't affect me all that much that way but it could mean I might lose shifts. The next 2 years are going to be a make or break for us. Anyway, that's all for now.

Before I leave out of here on my commute
I need to pop into the caretaker and let her know what's happening. I probably should have kept quiet about this this thing because for all they knew I was registered.
I'm looking forward to when I'm on full pension. It doesn't mean I'll be retiring. Not many can do that these days anymore. What it does mean is I might be able to work 5 days/week instead of 6 and instead 4-9:30, I can work 5-9 and have some pocket money. Most likely the landlord will take the balance of my pension. There are a lot of older people at my place of work, and one lady befriended me. We were talking in the lunchroom on my half hour break Saturday. She was saying her and her husband (he also works there) said she had been on Old Age Security (oas) for just a few months and their rent went up $300. I didn't put 2 and 2 together until hours later that she got a rent increase as soon as her landlord knew she was 65. She was also telling me that its Blue Cross that administers the seniors health benefits through the Alberta Government. because I'm an unregistered tenant (since 2000) management assumed my name was on the lease agreement. Soon management here will know I'm closing in on 65 and already on cpp. They'll see me as a cash cow.
The only thing I got going on this week is that X-ray Thursday. I'll be fasting over night. That's good its in the morning as I can pop into McDonald's for breakfast after and catch a bus to Belvedere station then downtown to Churchill and pop into the library. Other then that, not much going on. Anyway, that's all for now.

My father was born in
El Centro California 1922. I mentioned this to one of my colleagues that has dual American/Canadian citizenship on his Facebook page. He said if I was interested I might be able to hold dual citizenship and asked how old my father was when he came to Canada. I kind of knew I had this option decades ago. I don't know if I can do this now at my age and what would be my responsibilities and what value this would have for me If I had this option. The window might have closed a long time ago. It might be worth investigating though.
I like social media and I try to keep up with the latest and greatest. I was too late with Instagram and only heard of Periscope on the news last night. Some people are using it to film copywrite broadcasts, such as TV etc but its not the same thing as actually watching it live on a stable screen. I downloaded the app from the app store and took a short video from my iPod Touch as a test drive. Its added to my camera roll. Periscope probably has some uses as long as the phone/iPod is connected to the Internet. The video doesn't stick around for very long. I think 12 hours at the most. I'll play around with it for a bit. Periscope is a Twitter app. I can just imagine how periscope might be used to stream pornography and use the app for other malign purposes.
I watched game #5 Calgary/Anaheim and Anaheim won in OT. I kind of knew they would. Anaheim was the better team. My father was a Chicago Blackhawks fan. It would be great if Montreal and Chicago would meet in the finale and Montreal won.
Anne had this conversation with a Chinese colleague at her place of work Saturday night. Somehow the conversation got around to how we were having trouble sleeping. Anne's colleague mentioned we should try ginger in our sleep tea as a sleeping aid. I did a bit of research on ginger root and there could be a possible benefit for Type 2 diabetics like myself. So we'll give it a go this morning.
I've got a full week ahead of me this week. I'm still on probation so I don't think I'll get stat pay since I don't have any deductions up to this point taken off my cheque until after the 3rd month. This upcoming weekend is the Victoria day long weekend. I think I better work Saturday just the same. If I don't get paid for Victoria day I'm not going to have a seiser about it. Anyway, that's all for now.

Even though Mothers Day is not a
official stat holiday, it ought to be. One thing is certain everybody loves their mother (if they had one that is). Thanks to my brother Jeff's Facebook page, I was able to lift this photo of my mom. I love you mom:

Anne made us a nice brunch and we watched a bit ot wrestling and hockey.
This last week was the 70th anniversary of VE day. The Russians of course have to have a military parade. A show of force. Yeesh.
This evening I'm following the Flames/Anaheim NHL game. Once the last Canadian team has left the playoffs, is when I tune out. This week for once I don't have any Doctors appointments, no elections. Nothing. It's a full work week except Saturday as I want to go to Commercial lodge and hopefully go out to visit a sick lodge brother. Sunday I want to take Anne out to make up for not taking her out today and Monday is my first paid stat holiday in my new job. Anyway that's all for now.

My Sunday consisted of the following
and in no particular order: Reading my Warhammer 40K book, answering email, music production research on YouTube, Connect2Edmonton message board, that sort of thing.
My cold seems to be on the mend. Sunday morning I was having a sinus-phlegm coughing attack. It began to abate after I drank a lot of cold diet cola. My voice is about 70% back to normal. It should be back by Friday at the latest. Now Anne has laryngitis and talks with a whisper.
This weekend has been cold and windy. Hopefully by the weekend we'll get up to some +16's and without that howling wind. It'd be nice to get some sunny skies in there was well.
Sunday the Oiler players were at Rexall cleaning out their lockers before they get on the course, putters in hand. What a disaster of a season. That's a 9 year drought of not making the playoffs. At least we did not finish in last place. The playoffs begin Wednesday Ottawa/Montreal. My prediction for this year: A Canadian team in the East and Saint Louis in the West with Saint Louis to win overall.
I'm in the office from 4-9:30pm all week as we have a new project apparently Monday. which is apparently supposed to keep us going until the end of May. We may also be doing some political stuff as well because the upcoming Provincial election May 5th. So basically it's a 4-9:30pm thing Monday-Friday and Saturday 10-6pm. There's no Doctors appointments, no lodge. Just a straight Monday-Friday work week. Anyway, that's all for now.

From about 3 to 9pm I was
watching Wrestlemania kick-off show and a four our Wrestlemania after that. We were watching 6 hours of wrestling.
I'm not sure if I want to use my old Acer laptop for composing music. The cpu isn't fast enough for music production and the hard drive is bloated. I'm not using a genuine copy of windows because the laptop was compromised with a virus about 3 years ago. The idea was if I could format the laptop, I might be able to recover the original Windows 7 Home Premium edition of the OS that came with the laptop. I'd have to go into the bios and mess with the settings. The thing is, I can't format the laptop because I don't have a original OS recovery disk. There is no way to format the laptop back to its factory default so I can recover the original OS. I searched YouTube and found no format solutions. I got to thinking, do I really want to use this old laptop for music production anyway? I can't see myself upgrading the desktop and or even buying another Windows license. Basically all I need is a synth with the sounds on board, convert them into wav files and sequence them on my iPod. I can get a computer monitor for about $100 at Best buy and hook it up to my iPod, no problem.
This week I've got training for the job Tuesday, and Thursday night I have lodge. Friday I have a pcn appointment to get insulin, so if I'm ok as far as the job is concerned I've got a busy week ahead. Anyway, that's all for now.

Anne called me from a
Telus pay phone on her way home at Rexall saying that there were about 70,000 spectators taking in the Red bull crash ice event downtown. The trains were being back logged. The Red bull event is where ice skaters skate down a luge type ice course made for skaters. It was a free event and with the warm weather it brought out tens of thousands of spectators. The lrt system had trouble handling that many people for the finale day of the event. From what Anne was telling me there hadn't been that many people on the trains since the first Heritage Classic that November 22nd 2003 over 10 years.
I was following a bit of the Flames/Ave's game working on a beat last night having a great evening. I had a nice couple of days off and when I'm on full pension, I'm looking forward to 3 days on 4 off. Thanks to Anne.
On my breaks at work since I'm on commission over the next few days next week, I'll be making phone calls sending out resumes. If I not on commission, no way I'd do anything like that. There's only about 6 people that work the phones in the office anyway. Anyway, that's all for now.

I had a nice relxing Saturday
and more of the same today. I usually like to get out of bed around noon on a the weekends.
Global warming no doubt exists but not in an Al Gore junk science kind of way. Researchers here in Canada are using backyard ice skating rinks as a research tool to learn about climate change through ice. I don't know what they hope to gain from this but I'll wait for the off season to get the results.
Today is going to be a reading day. I hope to reach up to page 100 of "Battle for the Abyss." My goal is to have it read by the end of March.
Now that I'm about to work days for a few months, I'm taking advantage of my evenings free. I'm looking for a evening job 5 days/week. Even if I could work at my current place of employment 1 Saturday/week would more then be enough for what I need. Anyway, that's all for now.

Our favorite home delivery pizza
is Horseshoe. It's a little place just behind the KFC up here just West of the Manning Shopping Centre on 137th ave. Anne suggested we order instead of her cooking supper. For sit down pizza we like Royal over there on the South Side just near the Keg or Capital Pizza where we were before 2 weeks ago. I've still got half of it left in the fridge for later.
Nothing much going on today. I'm home, reading, some computer stuff that sort of thing. Just before dinner I put up a .38 second song on JimTube. It's an instrumental composed in stand alone Maschine. I'm working on another guitar, bass and drums song before my laptop over heated.
I checked on the free Lotto 6/49 free ticket and nobody won the $20M so it carries over for Wednesday and now it's $25M. I got another free ticket! So that's 2 free tickets from the original ticket. I can't pick my own numbers from a free ticket. It's always a quick pick.
At 5pm there's Florida Panthers/Oiler game at Rexall at 5pm. I'll probably get up around noon, let Anne sleep. She's going to go to the truck and order a few things, start our late brunch. The hockey game will take to about 7:30-8pm. I'm in the office Monday from 4-9pm and same throughout the week except Saturday, I'm scheduling myself in for the full day. Anyway, that's about all for now.

It was a simple 4 hour shift
last night from 5-9. Heading into the office was ok. I found my schedule post and its (for this pay period) Yesterday (4 hours) and today 10-6pm for a full 8 hour day for just 11.5 hours. Next week I have tomorrow (Sunday) from 12-8 for a full day and Monday for 4 hours, I'm off Tuesday (I can catch the Oiler game) Wednesday I'm in for 4, Thursday same, off Friday for lodge, but in next Saturday for a full day. That's 27 hours for the 1st week in the pay period. I'm pretty sure I'm back full time after that.
Yesterday Oilers traded LW David Perron. He scored 28 goals last year but like all the othre forwards on this team, their goal production is languishing. Perron is going to a better team and into the playoffs. Oilers get 2015 first-round draft pick and centre Rob Klinkhammer. Many Oiler fans were saying the team appeared down in last nights game in Denver due to the trade. I liked Perron. I hope he gets 30 goals this season.
I've been doing lots of research into a company called Elektron. They make synths, like their Analogue Keys (AK) etc. Speaking of, which I'd love to get ak. It comes with over 500 presets and can do some amazing things. It has a on board step sequencer. If I had about $3k I'd get that and their machine drum. Cool stuff.
Speaking of music the singer Bono from U2 might have to give up playing guitar. He's got plates in his elbow and his hand has playing hand been broken. He's not known as a guitar player anyway. I'm not a fan or anything of the group but they've kept the same lineup since they started in 1976. They have 13 studio albums and 7 #1 US hits.
The street out here last night was very icy and treacherous. Time to break open the cleats once more. It's mostly for on the way home. Anne came home with some disturbing news when she went to pay on the rent yesterday. We got a warning. Apparently the people below us were complaining that we're very loud. Anne and I have been fighting a bit and she's been raising her voice at all hours. What with me being home a lot could have edged her on as well. I have a full day today, and I'm going to get some Tim's breakfast before I start. I get my half hour break and a couple of tens in there as well today so it should go fast. I have a cold beer in the fridge for tonight. Anyway, that's all for now.

Miami is where my sister in law called from last night
in their Sunday night chat with my wife. as they are on the beginning of a Caribbean/Panama cruise for a couple of weeks. I thought getting out of the house is a big deal!
The Oiler's had a 2 goal lead on Dallas last night at the end of the 2nd period. Wow. Then in the 3rd Dallas scored to tie the game at 5! They went into ot and into the shootout. We lost a heart breaker in a shootout. That 2nd period was the best I've seen the Oiler's play this year. They entertain Phoenix on Tuesday, the last game of the year. Hopefully they can improve their 7-20-7 record. I've got a feeling the Oiler's are going to unload Hall and maybe someone else in a deal with Buffalo to secure the 1st and 2nd pick in the off season I hope I'm wrong. I like Hall.
Yesterday I put together 4 $2 50/50 games for fd. The games are for tonight and I'll be following the results while watching Raw.
I've got to call the boss to see if there's any work next week. There are still 5 days left in the pay period. Every bit helps. Anyway, that's all for now.

Friday morning I did my banking downtown and
came home. I had a few hours to myself and about 5:30pm got ready for lodge.
I got there a bit early and nothing had been set up. Some of the guys came by and helped me set things up. We had about 20 guys show up and had a great night. The highlights of the night for me was a ceremony called "The empty chair" and giving a Jack a 50 year jewel. I might get a 25 year pin but not a jewel, which for me will be in another 12 years. We also presented my ipm with a certificate, which I'll get at the end of my ipm year. It was a great night. I had a Molson dry and enjoyed the festive board and got a ride home. In by 10:30pm to watch what was left of Smackdown. 1 more Friday night and in January we're back to the 2nd Thursday. What was interesting is this evening we had the current DGM, current DDGM and the DDGM elect. All from our lodge! Lodge officers posed for a group photo for this historic event. I'm going to try and snag a copy of the photo on our SW's camera. I decided though, I'm paying my lodge dues in early January.
I got my schedule for this upcoming week: It's tomorrow 12-8, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 1-9. Full hours, less ot but there's a stat day in there as well, so I'm happy about that and next Saturday off.
Tomorrow is the West CFL semi finale, Riders/Edmonton and at 7pm after the football game is the Coyotes/Oiler's. Should be a good one and I'll probably be home in time to watch most of the game. Anyway, that's all for now.

Canada went into
the 1st world war Aug 5th 1914 100 years ago today. My Grandfather on my mother's side fought at Vimy Ridge. Canada lost 66,665 and the last soldier to die was 3 minutes before his unit learned the war was over. Its something we should never forget.
Despite the rough waters Saturday, the rest of the weekend was good. I learned Saturday before we headed out that I got Federal security clearance to work on a Federal sponsored job, when it starts and if they don't mind me working 2 days/week. We had a nice pizza dinner and I got a banner for my blog. On a scale from 1-5 I'd give it 3.5/5.
After a 10 year journey The European Space Agency's Rosetta spacecraft is about to make a scheduled to rendezvous with Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko on Wednesday (Aug. 6) If all goes according to plan, Rosetta will on that day become the first probe ever to orbit a comet — and, in November, the first to drop a lander onto the surface of one of these icy wanderers. I wonder how its supposed to attach itself to the comet?
Today I've got to go into the office before my full time job and sign some forms. Then out to Campus station to get the bus to wem and then to work. Apparently there's a small risk of rain but I hope its not on my commute. The rest of the week looks uneventful. Anyway, that's all for now.

Beating the heat here in Clareview
Edmonton but at least it's not like +40 like in some parts of BC
I'm cleaned up, I just need a bite to eat get dressed and pack up for my afternoon commute it's going to be a hot one this afternoon. It looks breezy out there, so it doesn't look that bad. We could use some rain.
It's just the commute from Campus to wem that's annoying. It's not a long shift today only 5.5 hours and I get a half hour break and a 15. Plus my pay goes in for next week and hopefully I'll get a ride to Belvedere station.
Like my last Tweet said, not much is going on this week. My blogging could be weak. Anyway, that's about all for today.
