It was on this weekend (1980) Richard and I

went to Vancouver by Greyhound bus. Richard Lord and I had a mission to source out some Rattan wood because it is favoured wood for SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) fighter practice. We couldn't find Rattan wood here in Edmonton. Richard had managed to have some SCA people in Vancouver host us for the weekend. We never did get ant Rattan wood, but it was s good experience. There wasn;t time to check in on family and I was on holiday from work anyway. It was about this time of night we would be pulling into the Greyhound bus tereminal downtown. Those were crazy days.

Game one Stanley Cup finale will have the visiting Florida Panthers facing off with the Oilers in the best of 7. The good news for the Oilers is we have home ice advantage, so if this goes 7 games, a Stanley cup will be awarded here. McDavid's $12.5m contract is up July 1st. Will McDavid stick around? Will the Oilers pay him for another extension? Will McDavid exercise his Non Movement Clause if the Oilers can't come to terms? It's going to be interesting in the weeks ahead.

I've got 4 days off including today. Thursday mid afternoon, I have a visit to the Fort Road PCN and then Lodge. I have one other event after that and that's for Chapter and that's our BBQ. Should be a good time. Anyway, that's all for now.

Having a nice couple of days

off here. Last night the project was completed, so I have a few days off and the weekend until the next project next week.

I'm picking up my cheque on Friday then over to Long and McQuade to pick up the iRig HD 2 and a 1/8>1/4 cable. I'm having my Circuit with me complete with batteries and my headphones. I'll buy both and then test the iRig out then and there. Hopefully it will record into my sequencer. If it does, great, cash out and go. If not, then its the Zoom h1 might be the same cable. Test, and if the h1 works and the iRig doesn't then its the h1. They're both the same price. then I have another 4 day weekend. Hopefully with the iRig/h1, have a fun weekend.

Once I get the device I need (Anne doesn't know yet) I've been invited out for a lodge boys afternoon at one of our brethren members. Just to have a informal meeting, hot dogs, hamburgers snacks and have a gab session, lodge business etc. Should be a fun afternoon.

Shortly after 2pm this afternoon, Conner McDavid just signed a 8 year deal with the Oiler's for $100M. Wow. I'm happy he signed the deal worth $12.5M per year. If the ride goes well for him, when he's 28 years old, he'll be worth a lot of money. The deal takes place in the 2018-19 season. That's good news for the Oilers. Does it mean the Oilers win a Stanley cup next year? Hard to say.

Since we finished the project last night, all I need do is go to the office Friday to get the cheque, like I said. In the meantime, I have a week off. Anyway, that's all for now.

Wednesday was a perfect winter day out there and being inside most of the time I hardly noticed it at

all. I spent 5 minutes waiting for my bus to Clareview and on the train to Central. I had a brief wait inside upstairs at Central station until my #5 bus came by. I got my seat and headed into work under overcast skies. My footwear of choice were my running shoes. At work the boss says if we hit out goal and we're closing in on it, we're going to have a pizza party on the 13th. My colleague forgot to bring me that book but I did some research on the asb program and found out some of what I need to know.

It looks like McDavid is days away from rejoining the team. It would have been fun to watch him at the All star break. With 37 points the Oilers are 2 wins away from sharing the last play off spot. However, there are 6 other teams in the bottle neck. The Oilers are in last place they can get to that last play off spot with 2 wins. With 7 games left until the All Star break 5 of them are on the road. The All star break is the home stretch towards the play offs. If McDavid can remain healthy and the Oilers go on a winning streak, who knows the Oilers could wind up 4th or 5th this year.

I had a slow day on the job but where we are with 3 weeks away I don't care. Chances are good I'll be back in mid February anyway. I reminded my super that I'd be in on Monday, as my availability states. As I left the office it had snowed during my shift and there must have been about 2 inches of snow on the ground. My commute home was basic, just the way I like it and hardly cold at all. I got home about 9:30pm. I'm off today as its Lodge night and we got balloting. Anyway, that's all for now.
