Finally, April is over with as

it was mentioned on local news that our local weather hasn't been this cold since the early 1980's. The first time in local weather history that we did not on this day reach above 0..ever!

Tonight on Coast the topic is a bit lame: "Harnessing Your Dreams." Not really something I'm interested in so it looks like George is out to promote another book.So for the next several days they have some soft topics.

It's with a sense of relief after reading my Lodge newsletter that our Lodge secretary (at my request) placed a announcement for a special meeting the first weekend in June. I'm grateful for that. If I have my health and when I'm say 73, I can look back at this post with a sense of nostalgia.

My job woes continue to give me grief. I almost got pulled off a project and I'm not out of the woods yet. I asked the boss if this means I'm fired and he said no. It's not that I'm not without options and I have some savings for a rainy day and I can always go on unemployment insurance for like 8 months and continue my education (It might save me from a job search) as I'd like to take a accounting course or something like that. Although, I'd like to be working for as long as I can I'd like to continue working, that's what I'd like to do but I have another 4 years and 4 months until I qualify for full pension, wu-who! Like that's something to look forward to.

On local news this evening they had a story on Space tourism and they said that for a $200,000 deposit, you can book a spot in about 3 years. Would I go into space? What with 2 metal rods in my spine? Not a chance. I'd get rejected before the ink was signed. Anyway, that's all for now.

A couple of things going on

this month. First off it's the Edmonton public library's main branch Centennial year, nice. Too celebrate the City of Edmonton is handing out free library cards to any city resident. It's a good deal. I haven't used the library in years but it's free right. why not?

Yesterday I found out my job isn't permanent. It's on a project by project bases. I have these hours for at least the middle of June. After that I don't know. If near that time, I have no conformation of anything, say like a week or 2 off, I can live with that. If however things are shut down for a couple of months, then I have a few other options. If all we have is evening work, I can live with that. I'd rather work part time where I am now then full time out out on 124th street with the gang. Maybe I'd do it next year when the Nait line opens up. In that case it'd be a train to Churchill and connect to the Nait line out to Kingsway board the #12 out to the job site. That might be easier, but we'll see. I don't want to give up on my present job for just a few dollars more an hour.

This caught my attention from i09 earlier: Should we put criminals under surveillance instead of in prison? The thing is putting criminals under surveillance wont prevent crimes. And how are we going to apprehend these criminals once they figure out that resources are so stretched it's going to be very hard to catch them? Read more here:

The other thing I want to do one of these Saturday's this month is head out to the Telus World of Science for the Star War's "Identities" show before it leaves by the end of the month so maybe next Saturday night. I really want to see this before it leaves. I can get a bite to eat at Westmount and take the #5 to Corona station from Westmount and the train home before Anne calls.

The other thing is our local landmark, the High level bridge, has a built in attraction called the "High level bridge waterfall."  It's normally an event for the summer, usually around Summer long weekends. There are lights that shine from behind the waterfall hooked up from just under the bridge. It's nice at night but the event has been shut down over the past couple of years. Forces at City Hall want to bring it back but with Redford's cutbacks and all that affect the City, it's hard to come up with the funds to justify opening it again. What's odd about this project is the water wasn't pumped from the river below and recycled. It was treated water. Now City councilors want to use the water from the river. They should have done that years ago.

On Coast this morning the topic is about how scientists have succeeded in developing the first living cell to be controlled entirely by synthetic DNA. Cool. Looking forward to listening in on this for a bit. Anyway, that's about all for now.

So my

wife decides to go to "the truck" over here by the U-Haul. It's like those industrial park trucks that bring coffee sandwiches that type of thing. In this case she get items she can't get at Superstore across the street. She gets our sausage rolls hash browns other items cheaper, so it's worth it for her to go once every other week or so.

We missed the #11 bus and because it's running half hour Sundays we took the #182. We waited at Londonderry Mall and then she decides she needs a Albert's breakfast at 3:55pm when the Mall closes at 5pm Sundays. I went along with that. We we're going to wait for the #2. I felt ok with that. Then she decides she wants a Albert's breakfast.

The good news is in Sportcheck on our way to Albert's I noticed they have the real Oiler Jersey's. If I can find Ryan Smyth's or Hemsky's  XLG, I'll pick it up. For $240 plus tax, that's a good deal.

Breakfast was good except they only gave me 1 egg instead of the 2. I'm not going in there for breakfast anymore. I like Londonderry Mall because on the way home the bus stops right outside our place. No busy street to cross after I've had a beer or 2 on a Friday night.

As for tomorrow, I'm not sure if I want to go to Happy Harbor comics or just go across the street to get my haircut but we'll see. Anyway, that's all for now

I thought I'd get

to bed early but I ended up in in bed by about 2:45am listening to a bit of Coast. They were talking about the Ark of the Covenant.

I took this photo of my breakfast with Boots in the background watching as I'm having my morning coffee.

I've got another 8 hours on the job the way things are going I think there's a new job in my immediate future probably after the New Year, I hope. Others are leaving. My morale isn't very good lately as far as recent days. There's been no mention of a staff Christmas party so far.

The big event for this week of course is Paul McCartney, ex Beatle here for 2 shows on the last leg of his 2012 tour. Probably The concert since 2000. One of my Colleagues went to see him, Kyle and he said he loved it. I would have liked to have gone as well but he's here tonight. Good old Paul.

Today I'm in for another 8 hours but that's Ok. Anne's made me a lunch and I'm hoping for a better day then yesterday. I always do. Anyway, that's about all for today.
