It was good to watch

the Flames/Oilers game at Rogers place arena last night. Even Sports Net commentators suggested that the Flames goal was goaltender interference. Talbot was atrocious. I'm looking forward to Saturday's afternoon game.

I still haven't got my OS drive cloned over to the m.2 drive yet. It was suggested somewhere that I disconnect the existing hard drives except the source and obviously the destination drive. At least I got a look at the single fan graphics card. I hope to get the migration tool set up properly and the boot order correct. Anyway, that's all for now.

Like in the song by

George Harrison, "All things must pass," hit home for me this morning. Since 2007, I was on a popular Edmonton forum called Connect to Edmonton or C2E. C2E was all things Edmonton, sports, restaurants, bars, events, and even international things of interest. Lots of politics. I had over 9,000 posts of my own. It was a gold mine of information. I met some people that liked me, some didn't. I'm not sure what happened to cause its demise. What with working a lot of day hours last month, C2E wasn't even on my radar until this morning. Normally I'd get email notifications of a thread I was following. My last email from C2E was May 22nd of this year. I tried going to the main page directory of activity, to only get a message from the forum's owner, saying why he had to take the forum down. Very sad. It's the end of an era.

With all that in mind before bed, I've been thinking about deactivating my Facebook page in an effort to break free from my recent past. I like the Facebook groups, like "I grew up in Coquitlam," the Vancouver and Edmonton groups, and messenger. I can in settings still keep those groups, and next month, I'm seriously thinking about temporarily deactivating my Facebook profile/page. Except for the people I already chat with like friends and family. The lodge can send me stuff by email, and I'll keep Twitter, this blog and You Tube. I just don't like the ugliness of politics, and the disturbing Gif images.

I still haven't been able to get my m.2 drive installed. I've been lazy in that department but I want to start playing games on that SSD as  well and more video editing. Other then that, I'm looking forward to NHL hockey coming up this week, and some other stuff related to my pension. I'm entering a new phase in my life but the only thing hindering me is damn pandemic. Anyway, that's about all for now.

The other day in a Skype conversation

Profile
me and an old friend of mine for over 20 years were having a discussion about trust. She couldn't why a mutual 3rd party wouldn't give out a phone number. These 2 people got along very well but my friend over the years forgot her friends phone number somebody else had access to. This person could not give out the phone number. Its not just about privacy its about trust. My friend insisted so and so can trust her. All parties have known each other for many years. My friend couldn't grasp the concept of trust on this level. My friend is a smart lady, she'll figure it out in the end.

After a bit of research, I lucked out on the size number of my SSD 2280, and the Key number. My M.2 is a 2280, and its an M key and its Gen3x4. When I'm ready to upgrade

So apparently, the City of Edmonton has just announced that wearing a Covid face mask will be mandatory on a ETS buses and all City run facilities, its a good move. And on that note, I'm off to lunch.

When I escaped the nest back in

1973, I stopped caring what people think about me. People come and go, and for the ones that recently did leave my reaction is meh. I've also learned that once in awhile I need to outgrow some people. Not everyone needs to be my friend. Maybe they want to kick the tires a bit, see if there's anything there. Its just part of human nature.

I mentioned the above because I received a rare Facebook friend request the other day. This person said, "I know (blank) I heard lots about you." My response was, "uh oh." This person might not ever engage with me in chat again, its all good. Whether friends did me wrong or are struggling with me and they have my phone number and want to talk, I will talk with them. No problem. I'll put down what I'm doing, my friends are important. I'm not mad at anyone. Best time to call me however is mornings until 1:30pm, because I have more privacy.

Next Week, NHL Oilers hockey returns! 😃 Its Oilers@Calgary. Well at Rogers Place arena that is. Tuesday July 28th 8:30pm, in an exhibition game. I'm not sure if any of these games are televised. An exhibition Oilers game in July, wow. Then on the following Saturday August 1st its the playoff qualifying round Chicago@Oilers best of 5. So its (unless things change and if the games are televised) I'll be able to see Oilers history in the making.

On tap for this week, I'm working on a dub chill kind of a track using material form my Loop Cloud library and Arcade. Also, just to up my game a bit more, I'll be introducing some royalty free motion graphic overlays into the mix. Plus I hope to get that Samsung 970 Evo Plus m.2 ssd onto my motherboard. Do a bit of "open heart" surgery so to speak. Anyway, that's all for now.

Yesterday while at

Staples, I couldn't believe all the customers inside without Covid face masks on. Staples has lots of hand sanitizers and most of the staff have face masls or are behind shields.

I bought the Samsung nvme ssd and 2 packages of energel pens. They have some nice computer chairs at Staples as well, and I almost bought one, but couldn't justify spending below my balance. Perhaps next month.

Also yesterday, Anne and I did a massive purge of our closet, which contained mostly my stuff. The "purge" was Anne's idea but I agreed. I threw out a lot of crap but also found a bunch of stuff, like my Bartending 1 course certificate:

The above certificate was issued shortly after completing the test, November 26th 1984 at Norquest college. I never pursued the 2nd part because I realized that bartending was the kind of a job that would require me to stay on my feet. I did that all day at my day job at the time.

So its official, Edmonton and Toronto are the only 2 NHL hub cities. On the 26th of this month there will be an exhibition game, Calgary at Edmonton, and I imagine Edmonton at Calgary. Its my understanding that the puck drops on the season wrap up August 1st. The Stanley Cup game will be played here in Edmonton. Anyway, that's all for now.

In an effort to get around the city

utilizing ETS, quite often I'm needing to use transit information. I need an m2 hard drive asap. Best selection is memory express on the South Side but getting there since the City had to make a lot of cuts to transit due to Covid1-19 and rout tweaking, getting around town can often be a challenge. So while on hold with transit information to see if the #70 bus still has a stop at Central Station, I learn the last LRT is at 10pm😲Wow! And my #70 no longer goes to the north side and only runs peak hours. Fortunately for me Staples is just down the block and I need some gel pens anyway and other stationary. They have some m2 ssd's and even if they don't have any in stock, I'll get my steps in and some lunch at Wendy's on the way back. Sounds like a plan.

Earlier this week, I got my huge order from Amazon. I got my 6 foot hdmi/Dvi-di and the hdmi/vga cable, plus the m2 nvme enclosure kit, Elgato capture card, the usb c-usb dongle. I should have ordered the Xbox 360 vga cable in there as well. Since we haven Amazon plant an hour or so away from me, the order took less then a week to pick up. I'm well aware of the Elgato capture card issue but I've seen some work arounds that I can make this work. Its just a replacement hdmi cable and I have a spare one around here somewhere.

Also, the other day at Eb games, on my way to the Clareview Drugstore, to pick up my Amazon order, I picked up my first Steam card and a game controller charger for my Xbox (Jasper ed) 360 as I plan on doing some mods on my 360 this summer. However some of the numbers under the label of the gift card failed to show up. After some screen shots and tech support later, I got the right numbers and added the funds to my Steam wallet. So, once I get this hard drive issue sorted out I can download some games. One can't make music all the time. Anyway, that's all for now. have a nice weekend everybody.

We've been getting a lot of

rain and a bit of a mixed bag of sun and rain for the last 2 weeks. If we got one day of + 25
I hadn't noticed. This has been one of the coldest summers that I can remember anyway.

I placed 2 Amazon orders this last week because I couldn't find what I wanted locally. And even if it was listed I'd have order online anyway. I'd love to support locally if they ever had in stock what I want.

It looks like the Mars Perseverance with the helicopter will take place this month after all. I had thought that the mission was scrubbed due to Covid-19 and all. The James Web telescope is still a go for March next year. Other then that, we're holding out ok here in Edmonton. Anyway, that's all for now.
