Good news

at least I finished reading "Space Wolf 2nd Omnibus" and on a scale from 1-5 I give it a solid 5! This is pure space opera, solid military science fiction with some fantasy and lore sprinkled in for taste. The good guys are likeable and the bad guys are ok but they are kept at a distance. There's lots of action to keep the pages turning. As usual in most fiction the ending was rushed but for 3 books the authors did a good job in maintaining continuity. I'm now onto The Horus Heresy book 1. Its still Warhammer 40K. The book: Horus Rising. Hopefully I can finish by mid March, then move onto.

Just when I thought I'd have another 2 weeks of days after this most recent project at work, I'm now on 5-9 with a Saturday in there just to make the hours in need work. So today I'm in from 1-7 and home by 8pm. It's a full day Saturday. I should have 81.5 hours next cheque. I doubt I'll see hours like that for awhile.

Possibly next weekend I'm thinking about getting my laptop upgraded to a 1Tb SSHD. Then having my laptop drive cloned. Yes, I know it's not a difficult operation but I don't know anything about this but they're going to charge $50 to clone the old drive over to the SSHD and $50 to install the SSHD. It's going to be a good $300 upgrade and there's no guarantee its going to make a significant difference. .

After work I'm heading over to Audrey's to pick up another Warhammer 40K Omnibus, "Path of the Elder's" or something like that and I have a list of about 5 other Warhammer 50K Omnibus books I missed, then home Anyway that's all for today.

Tha was a nice lttle gift from

God for the nice weather we've been having here for the later part of this month. Now were back to more seasonal weather, like -14 that sort of thing.

I'm just about closing out on my Warhammer 40k Space Wolf Omnibus book. On page 752/765, so I hope to have it finished by the end of the week. There are many reasons why it took me so long to finish this book but the main one is just life got in the way. Especially since I took the big chair in my lodge and my hours on the job are always in a state of change.

Today I've got a full day ahead and an executive meeting with 4 of my lodge brethren I put together for tonight at 6pm It's just about an hour, I should be home by 8pm.

Last night the Oiler's played host to San Jose Sharks, one of the top teams in the league. We got the first goal but Oiler's new goaltender Ben Scrivens made 59 saves (shots on goal) last night. That was a team record. He earned himself a 3-0 shut out and a standing ovation from the fans. It was fun to watch

I've got a full 7.5 hours today and the executive meeting after work tonight. So it's a full day today. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Tuesday, January 28, 2014

My morning commute was business as usual as I was able to read a bit heading into

the job. I got right to my station and into the job. I was having a great start to the beginning of the shift as well. I broke for lunch again at 1pm and read more  on Space Wolf Omnibus. I should have it read by the end of the week. The boss came up to me and asked me if I could work Saturday. Ok. It's going to give me almost 80 hours. I tried calling Anne but she was probably still sleeping. I got into a bit of trouble because on the phone I was doing my job and I didn't hear a "instruction." That's going to change, which is a good thing.

I had a trouble free commute home and read a bit on the train. I got my bus and there was Anne flagging me down as I got out of the bus across the set of lights here. So we got off over here by Manning Crossing as Anne wanted to eat first before my haircut at "Great cuts." She wanted to go to Quiznos (like Subway) and I'm looking for Happy Harbor. I noticed a closed up shop (uh-oh). The sign said: "This Happy Harbor location is closed after 5 years of serving the public. Please visit the original store etc etc." I might have visited the store maybe twice in those 5 years. It's kind of bitter sweet to see them close. Kind of reminds me of when the old "Adventure Gaming Supplies," store in Sandy Lane by my old place North of 95th/156th street in the mid 1990's. Happy Harbor never became the store I was hoping it would be. I got a funny feeling that the original Happy harbor will be closed within 5 years.

After Anne got her Quiznos we went to A&W as I got a double cheese burger and fries. She had shopping to do. I had my dinner and read while she was shopping for cat food. Then we caught the #11 bus  to Walmart after a long wait just outside the Petro Can. Finally about 7pm, it arrived. First to Clareview and then to just behind Moores and through the Walmart parking lot. Lots of ice patches all over the place.

Anne brought a coupon taking half price off my haircut. Good thing I brought along that Visa gift card she gave me for Christmas. Anne had some shopping to get done while I got my haircut. The worst part was getting home beause the side walk up to Michale's (an arts and crafts store) was a sheet of ice. I had to walk in the crusty windrow and even across the street same thing. Normally it would take me 10 minutes to get home. Anne was way ahead of me not waiting for me at all which kind of pissed me off. It was my fault for not bring my cleats.

Anne did my hair with a product called "Just for men." it's actually pretty good. Anyway, that's all for now.

Having a trouble free morning commute

makes my life easier. It wasn't as cold as I thought. I got my coffee at Subway and headed into the office I had a slow start to the day but after noon I really picked things up. Anne wasn't there to get my call. I was happy to leave out of there at 5pm and read on my afternoon commute home.

I had a great night, watching wrestling and the Oiler's in Vancouver as the game is tied at 2 in the 3rd. Supper just before my evening news.

This from i09: You don't need to sleep. You just need to believe you've slept. This is fascinating reading. A new study suggests that there's such a thing as the "sleep placebo" effect. Just believing you've gotten a good night's sleep is enough to help you perform better on tests and feel more energetic. You can read the full story here.

After work tomorrow, Anne and I are heading up towards Walmart, while she's shopping I'm getting my haircut. Then we're catching  the #182 bus towards Manning shopping centre for a bite to eat and while she's getting cat food ( if it's open I'll visit Happy Harbour comics. Anyway, that's all for now.

Sunday, January 26, 2014

Next weekend I'll have 2 days off instead

of just the Sunday like I had today. Anyway, that's all for now.

I had a nice day off today checking out NAMM 2014 on YouTube, trying to figure out if I want a new pc or a new keboard etc. I did a bit of reading from my Space Wolf book and watched the Nashville/Oiler's game. Ryan Smyth tied Wayne Gretzky's all time power play goals at 125. Glen Anderson's record of 126 is within reach. I had a relaxing what's left of my Sunday night and it's into work for a full day.

This week it's Monday-Thursday 9-3 unless there's training for a new project. I also organized a executive committee meeting with my Lodge for Thursday. If I would have known about the weekend project I should have penciled in 5-9 for tomorrow. I'll know what to do if that happens again. Anyway, that's all for now.

Saturday, January 25, 2014

I had a trouble free commute this morning and I got

off at Corona and upstairs to Tim's and had my breakfast there. I took my coffee back with me. It was a beautiful morning except for ice on my way in.

This week The City of Edmonton had posted the price for the new downtown arena at $604 million. That's just the arena not the buildings going up around it. Construction will begin in March and the building should be (other then cost overruns (developer picks up the costs on that) the arena should be on budget and open for business in 2016.

At the moment I'm trying to convert web pages to PDF files, which I can do. Now I'm trying to use iTunes for file sharing so I can sync these files to my iTouch. I've seen it done. I've got YouTube links. It's just a question of time.

Carrie Fisher said she's on board with reprising her role as Princes Lea in the upcoming "Star Wars 7" film but Mark Hamil hasn't said one way or another and Harrison Ford seems to be ambivalent. JJ Abrams has until May before they begin shooting episode 7. Apparently Abrams will be doing 8 and 9 as well. I'll go see it if it's like "Revenge of  the Syth" or something like that but if it's a young adult or even kiddie film, no.

After I called Anne here at home and my half hour and my 10, time really slowed from about 3:30pm onward. After having only 4 hours sleep overnight and the last hour and a half was agonizingly slow but I had a great day. I felt good leaving out of there as it was about +6. We're getting some nice weather the 2nd half of January but Sunday and Monday are supposed to "be cold" days. Sunday -12 and Monday about the same. I have Sunday off and I can sleep in and the rest of the week I'm getting full hours. Anyway. that's all for now.

Friday, January 24, 2014

Just when I think I have a weekend

off the boss calls me at home and says he needs to tweak my schedule. I'm in at 1-8 today and 10-5 on Saturday. This is actually good for me because I'm going to have a lot of hours on my 1st cheque in February and just over half way there in getting the new computer, possibly by the end of next month.

After work yesterday I got my 2 Warhammer 40K books. I've got all 25 Horus Heresy novels and 14 Space Marine Battles novels. I just wish there were more Dark Angles and Space Wolf novels. I could use another Space Wolf Omnibus book and I'm sure another one is coming.

I was looking at all the cool stuff at NAM 2014 the music audio show. M-Audio is coming out with "Trigger Finger Pro" and this thing kicks some serious butt. It should be in stores around May and I want one. Maschine is still king of the NPC hill but Trigger Finger Pro is so cool.

Other then a meeting I'm planning next Thursday night I hope to have close to 75 hours, at last. I haven't had hours like this since 2012. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, January 23, 2014

The plan this evening after work was to check out

the box for my speakers to see if I can carry the box home or if I'll need a cab. I didn't get that far. The weather kind of discouraged me from checking it out. I might call in and ask them to drop the hold for me because buying the speakers is going to leave me short as it is.

I got my Warhammer 40K book order in at Audrey's to pick up after work. Space Marine battles: "Malodrax" and Horus Heresy "Mark of Calth." Now the Black Library decides to put the Horus Heresy out in Trade after I have all the rest in paperback."

Today, I'm in for a full day off at 5pm over to get my books and then a bus to City Centre Mall East food court Taco Tyme and then City Centre Mall West check out The Source, as I'm on the fence between the Kobo Glo and the Kindle Paper weight 2 just to look around and head home."Anyway, that's all for now."

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

For some reason I felt drained

after training from our recent project late yesterday afternoon I asked to go home because I wasn't feeling well. When I got home as I was having my dinner I got a call from one of my supervisors saying my schedule for Wednesday has been changed from 9-5, which is good because I get Wednesday night off.

Hopefully I can get my monitors Friday but my main concern is the size of the box the monitors come in. I'm considering running over to Axe before they close after work today and take a look at the box. They're open until 8pm so I got plenty of time to get a Montrose bus and take a look at the box and look around, then head through Rexall grounds to the LRT and home.

The Vancouver Canucks were at Rexall last night and it was all Vancouver. The Oiler's made it interesting with a goal from Eberle but it was still 2-1 Vancouver. Next game is Thursday at Rexall. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Tuesday, January 21, 2014

Monday on my way into work I got

my free 6/49 ticket and headed into work feeling ok. I was a bit put off that I was going to be sent home at 5pm getting just 4 hours instead of the 7.5 hours I was hoping for. Hopefully I'll get the hours ok for today but I was told ot to count on it. Which is ok, I'll get to go home and watch the Oiler game.

Rosetta is the name of a European Space Agency's Rosetta is the first mission designed to orbit and land on a comet. It consists of an orbiter and a lander -- called Philae. The two spacecraft carry 25 science instruments to make a detailed study of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko for two years as it approaches our sun. The mission until yesterday was in a 3 year hibernation period. Philae will attempt to land in November later this year. You can read more about Rosetta here.

The NHL has suspended Vancouver Canucks coach John Tortorella without pay for 15 days and six games for his conduct and reaction over Calgary Flames Hartley was fined $25,000 US by the NHL. You can read more about it here.

Today I'm in at 1pm-9pm as I need the hours. Other then that, not much is going on. Anyway, that's all for now.

Monday, January 20, 2014

Hopefully if all goes well after work on

Friday I'll be able to get my Pioneer DJ50 studio monitors. That's the plan.

By now everyone in the NHL hockey world has had a laugh or a hand in face moment over the Vancouver Coach John Tortorella reacting to Calgary Flames fiasco the other night. Tortorella has a hearing with the league this morning. I hope they just give him a warning. I respect the guy and support him for looking out for his team.

Not a lot going on this week, it's a normal Monday through Friday. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Sunday, January 19, 2014

Today for the most part is going to be a

reading day.

This week I'm setting things up with my family Doctor I haven't seen in about 5 years. I'm having slight trouble with my vision. I can still read newspapers and books and watch TV and all but my vision is being compromised by floaters and a slight blurriness. I also need to check up  on my insulin and see what I can do to get my teeth looked after and a blood test. Hopefully I'll do all of that next month. My wife and I share the same Doctor and she said she has a appointment in February.

This unusually mild weather is holding although its windy today. We're going to dip slightly to about -1'ish but we're back up to +4-+6 for next weekend. January came in like a lion and out like a lamb. It seems.

Last night I won a free lotto 6/49 ticket by getting 2 numbers to match and that's always a good way to start the week on a "winning note." Speaking of this week, I'm in tomorrow from1-9 and the rest of the week but we could go home Monday a bit early and Friday I'm in from 9-3, which makes for a early weekend.

Like I said, today is a reading day as I hope to finish reading (finally) The Space Wolf (2nd Omnibus). Anyway, that's about all for now.

Saturday, January 18, 2014

For now at least

I have a weekend off.

Last night I worked 3 hours as they pulled the plug on thee finale minutes of what we needed to do. I left at 7pm. I popped into Audrey's too see if there were any Warhammer 40k for me, nothing in. Maybe Rexall drugs is open at the end of the block. I bought a 6/49 ticket. They close at 9pm, which is good to know because I'm usually there a few minutes before closing if I'm off work at the 2nd job. I bought a small order of fries to munch on during my commute and got home about 7pm. I had a great night to myself.

At the moment I'm watching the Oiler's playing decent hockey in Winnipeg against the jets. I'm enjoying a 1-0 Oiler lead but the Jets are going to open the 3rd period with a power play. Most likely they'll tie the game.

I'm just about to wrap up The Space Wolf, Warhammer 40k hopefully this weekend then I can get into the Horus Heresy (HH) series. After collecting almost the whole series the Black Library now decides to release them in Trade format. Trade is my favorite format for reading books but the Black Library has some HH stories in ebook format. I'd like to get into some of them, eventually.

This week, I'm in from 1-9, as I like these hours because it still gives me time to stay up late and sleep in and if I have any personal business I can (in advance) say book on from 5-9, if I don't need to save up for anything. As long as I can get about 60 hours, I'm good. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Friday, January 17, 2014

Unbelievable!

I left my place to Clareview station and of course at that hour all the kids want their candy and snacks. I'm just trying to get a lousy bottle of pop. Note to self, bring a refill but I still need to get a lottery ticket this weekend. So I'm at the Rexall bus terminal waiting for the #5. half an hour later it shows up. I finally left Rexall at 3:30pm but the bus was moving at a pretty good speed. I got to work with 10 minutes to spare

I had a decent night and no trouble on the way home. I missed the Oiler's lose in Minni, thanks for the effort Scrivens even though your a back up to Bryzgalov, your only as good as our D. It's not your fault. Welcome to the sad realization of the Edmonton Oiler goalie revolving door.

I'm out of here at my usual 3pm and after tonight, my weekend begins. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, January 16, 2014

Winds gusting at about 58kmh was what

met me while I was waiting for my 8am bus to Clareview station yesterday morning.

I read Space wolf on my way into work having a good time with that. I hope to finish it by the end of the month. Then I can start on the Horus Heresy series. More Warhammer 40k goodness.

I got my coffee at Subway and headed upstairs to get settled into at my dialer. I was struggling to wake up but my first coffee helped out. I had a great morning. Speaking of reading, management noticed me inking in my book to mark my spot and came back with a paperclip. "Try this instead." What a great idea! I had a ok afternoon but that last hour really dragged out. One of my colleagues had told me that the Oiler's traded goal tender Devan Dubnyk to the Nashville Predators for forward Matt Hendricks. What a shocker. It was actually a pretty good move saving about $3 million to get a big power forward up front for our 4th line. Plus Dubnyk was expected to be a unrestricted free agent at the end of this season anyway. The Oiler's are in Minneapolis tonight at 6pm. I'll be missing this one because I'm at my 2nd job tonight. I completed my week at my 1st job on a high note yesterday on a long shift so I can't complain.

I got in about 6pm last night and had a relaxing evening to myself. I did some Lodge business and had a decent evening.

When my wife came home she had a craving for pizza and ordered from a local non chain. It was pretty good pizza, so I have some for my lunch today at my 2nd job. It's hard enough as it is to keep track of my hours at my 1st job as and factor another part time job. I hope to find something with steady hours. I like 9-5. Give me time to get home have a bite to eat and go to Lodge if I want. This morning I can finally sleep in but most likely I'll be up about 11:00am as I want to get ready and out of here by 3pm for my 2nd job. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Wednesday, January 15, 2014

Its still Tuesday night Wednesday morning

as I write this.

Our weather here is getting warm. At this hour it's +5! Heading home at 7:15pm it was also wet and slippery. I'm glad I brought my cleats.

Finally I got a look at the late 2013 Mac Pro. I like the design but not the $4,000 price tag. That's not including the Ram and Thunderbolt display upgrade. Still if I had $5,000 lying around, I'd get one.

This was on the Coast 2 Coast website: Iranian Revelation: US Run by Nazi Space Aliens! A surprising report from the Iranian news agency, Fars News, claims that the US government has been secretly run since 1945 by "space aliens". I love C2C. Its a funny story out of the Washington Post. You can read the whole story here. I'm going to listen for a bit.

I'm up at 6am this morning to do my stuff and out the door by 8am for 9-5 all day Wednesday. Then I got Thursday and Friday are lighter loads and a full weekend to myself. It's going to be a long day Wednesday.Anyway, that's all for now.

Tuesday, January 14, 2014

I had a decent day even though it dragged

on for a bit about 6pm (last hour)

After work I went to Future shop and they had a few more offerings in the Ntendo hand held gaming devices but not by much. So if the Vita is there later today, I might purchase one. If not I'll get the black Ntendo 3DS. Failing that, I'll get the Ntendo purple DS. My first choice is the PS Vita. It's at a reduced price and almost the same price as the purple DS. When a product is at a reduced price that gets my radar going: Does this mean Vita is being replaced by something different from Sony? Maybe I should hold off.

I decided I'm going to Lodge Saturday afternoon instead of after work tonight. This way I can watch the Oiler game tonight.

Our cable bill is already at about $170 and I want to subscribe to the WWE network? It's only an extra $10 month and I get all 12 pay per views. It's a good deal.

At least the train is working but I read that the Nait line wont be ready now until June from April. The city is working on a new scheduling software. Anyway, that's all for now.

Monday, January 13, 2014

I'm not big on

gaming but if I were to get a hand held gaming console, it would be the PS Vita. I'd get the white wifi version and I'm considering this if Future Shop has them. According to their website, they have bundles and it's just the black one. Also from what I heard the Vita has Skype and YouTube. The Vita has a huge game library as well including Indie games. It can take photo's and video but the memory cards are expensive. That's the only drawback.

I'm up at 9am leaving out of here 10am for my 11-7pm shift. It's mostly a afternoon shift. Anyway, that's all for now.

Sunday, January 12, 2014

Finally I get to sleep in this morning

for a change. The only thing on my plate today is the 5pm Oiler's/Chicago game on TV and a couple of Lodge related calls.

In my email yesterday, I received a Black Library (Warhammer 40K) Tyranids eBundle 2014 Contains 10 novels and 11 short stories. I've got a few of the novels in this ebundle already. Eventually I'd like to get this but at $100 it's pretty pricey.

Although I was a bit on the tired side not having much sleep over night my mood was good. Until I got down to Stadium station and it was mentioned that the train was out of service from Stadium to Central and replacement buses were in operation at Central. I was pissed. It was closing in at about 9:30am (My #5 connection at Money Mart) was narrowing. I was even on the crowded replacement bus figuring should I just go and call in sick or head back to Rexall and catch my #5? I was on the train heading back to Rexall and after a brief wait w were on our way. But a couple of blocks away where the #5 turns off of 118th street the street was barricaded off. My mood was dropping in a hurry. It was about 9:30am at Canada Place and Jasper. I got off the bus a stop short but that would not have made much difference I was half an hour late as it was. I was docked half an hour not that it made much difference as my performance was the same as it was Friday night. I tried calling Anne at home 3 times but she wouldn't pick up. My #5 back sped right by me on the other side of the street going my way. That meant another 10 minute wait. I was beating the clock again to get back to Clareview to meat Anne by 3:30pm. All that so she could have the bus pass, yeesh. So made it in record time and I paid my way home. I even had a bit of a nap on the couch earlier.

Last night on Smackdown WWE released the WWE Network. For $9.99/month, subscribers get all the pay per views including wrestlemania and tons of other content. I don't know if Monday night Raw or Smackdown is going to be on the WWE network. If it is, then that's even more reason to subscribe.

I didn't get to go to pick up that SSHD or Win 7 yesterday but I'll do that on my way to Lodge next Saturday. it's nice having the weekends off for a change. Anyway, that's all for now.

Saturday, January 11, 2014

My shift was not very productive yesterday but

at least I showed up.

The Oiler's beat the Pens at Rexall last night 4-3 in OT. Not that I was able to watch the game anyway. With 35 games left to go in this dismal season, the Oiler's are still sitting only at 35 points with 15 wins. The Sabres are still in the basement in their conference with 29 points. If the draft lottery were to happen now the Oiler's would have a 50-50 chance to get the first round pick, again. The boys are in Chicago for a late Sunday afternoon game. This is great because its when Anne and I have our Sunday brunch.

At my 2nd job they have the Edmonton Journal newspaper and by the time I get to it, its been scattered and picked apart. On the front page, they had a article "down memory lane." In July 1987 just before the tornado event here known as "Black Friday," the unemployment rate was something like 10.2. A record high for this boom/bust Province. At that time I was "comfortably" employed at the Army & Navy department store. I managed to escape this but 2 years later I was let go but the economy had slightly rebounded. It was still feeling the effects of the Liberals National Energy Program. At the moment I think we're around 5.5%. Still at 5.5% that's leading the National average.

My wife wants me to meet her at Clareview this afternoon so she can have the bus pass. That's ok because after that I can go to get that SSHD drive and then maybe over to Burger King using the gift card I got for Christmas. Anyway, that's all for now. Anyway that's all for now.

Friday, January 10, 2014

This week I put three days down for my hours at my

first job because my 2nd job breaks next Friday for the month of February and resumes in March. So in the meantime I'm off Sunday and working 11-7pm, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and at the 2nd job Thursday and Friday.

Next weekend I'm getting a 500Gb SSHD hard drive and Windows 7 for my laptop. Once I get the hard drive and the OS installed I'm re installing Komplete 8, Maschine, my midi keyboard controller software, audio interface software and the drivers including the ASIO driver updates as well. It's a big project.

Because of my hours next week I have some options. I can go to Lodge Tuesday, Wednesday or even Saturday afternoon. I can go get the SSHD drive and OS on my way into Lodge and install the drive Saturday night. I finally have a weekend off next weekend.

Tonight it's a easy 4 hours in and out and same for Saturday. I'm thinking about leaving out of here early tomorrow morning about 8:30am to get my breakfast at Tim's and head out for work. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, January 9, 2014

My first

job is very interesting, lots of variety and flexibility but the pay and hours suck. My 2nd job is very fulfilling and pays good but the hours aren't there. I'm grateful I have both.

Last night on the National news they talked about the in progress Consumer Electronics Show or CES 2014. The next development in television is called the 4K TV. It looks really cool. Also featured among the dozens of other products was a blackberry style keyboard for the iPhone. I also saw a Tron like single person concept vehicle called the i-Road from Toyota. It's a cross between a motorcycle and a car. It's electrically powered and can get about 30 miles on a charge. It's not released yet and it's probably not good for our roads here in Edmonton. If I was living in a ground floor condo, then I'd get one. It's a cool concept. CES  wraps up tomorrow.

The Oiler's entertain the Pens Friday night at Rexall. I'm actually hoping for a Oiler loss so we can get another shot at a first round draft pick, again. Buffalo is the only team standing in our way.

Today I'm out at my 2nd job heading out of here to catch my #5 at Rexall. Its a easy 4 hours. Anyway, that's all for now.

Wednesday, January 8, 2014

I had one of those days yesterday where nothing went right

as I felt I was in quicksand all day. I got to get steady work before I go nuts in the head.

Last night the Oiler's played host to the Saint Louis Blues hockey team. The Blues beat the Oiler's 5-2. Looks like the way the Oiler's are going once again they will have the #1 draft pick for 2014. It could be Sam Rhinehart still playing for the Edmonton Oil Kings but anything is possible.

I'm in for another full day today. Actually today wasn't have bad but I'm thinking about taking Sunday off. Anyway, that's all for now.

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

I know I had a couple days off at

New Years but I've been on the job between my 2nd and 1st job. I think on the 18th I'm going to take 3 days off.

i09 has released a list of the 65 Science Fiction and Fantasy Movies to Watch out for in 2014. I like; The Legend of Hercules, a reboot of RoboCop, Jodorowsky's Dune, Captain America: The Winter Soldier (sequel), Transcendence. There are a lot more, but that's just a few. I might see the Captain America movie, maybe. The full list is here.

Last night's Monday night Raw went "Old School." That means taking the look and feel of the show back to it's beginning. They had the floor barricades like they did in the past, the announcers wore jackets like in the 80's, even the announce table was just a table that could have been a prop for a TLC tables ladders and chairs match. They had a a lot of WWE Legends there, wrestlers that the WWE calls Hall of Famer's. They had IRS,Ted DiBiase even Rikishi. Anne was hacking and coughing the whole time because our other TV has sound issues. It would have been great to have Vince McMahon and Jessie Ventura at the announce table. That would have been classic. Raw last night was excellent.

Speaking about our 2nd TV its having audio issues. We get the picture but no sound. Anne had tech support a week ago saying its probably old cables so they send us these AV cables that our TV can't use. So Anne got fed up and requested a service call. She said it has to do with the set box. Hopefully they'll fix that up today.

I'm in today from1-9pm. I'm up at about 9:30am this morning to give me 7.5 hours sleep. I wont be able to see the Saint Louis/Oiler game but I'm not missing much. Anyway, that's all for now.

The Corners 1 and 2

is a  project here in Edmonton is about to get moving:

Its located (or about to be located) 102nd/Jasper. 95th Street is right in between both buildings. Heavy equipment is on these lots breaking ground as we speak. This is the area called The quarters and just behind these 2 highrise buildings is where the proposed Valley Line LRT comes through.

Yesterday on the job was productive and I had a good day but it was a long shift. I was glad to get out of there at 8pm when I did. Today I don't have to get out of here until a bit later in the day but I can make some phone calls doing Lodge stuff.

On the National news this guy was demoing a cool anti theft device or security fog generators. Ones such device is called the "Smoke Cloak." It senses a break and enter in progress and floods the crime scene with thick smoke. The bad guys can't see the object they are trying to steal. It turns Liquid Glycerin into a artificial fog, which scares off the bad guys. It's been around for almost a decade now..

The Edmonton Oiler's finally won a game at Rexall hosting the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-5 Oiler's. At least we'll have (again) another good pick. Buffalo Sabres might get the 1st round pick in the off season. Not that these 1st rounders do the Oiler's any favors.

I'm in 3-9 today for a shorter shift, which means I can sleep in for awhile longer. Anyway, that's all for now.

We're facing some bitter wind out there

this morning, with some -38 wind chill. It's cold out there folks. The good news is after today we're going to be climbing up to a more comfortable -4.

We've got just over 2,100 Scene movie points we're trying to save up for Wrestlemania. We have more then enough but Wrestlemania won't be until March.

I was never really a fan of the Everly brothers but I was still caught off guard hearing the news that Phil Everly passed away yesterday. The cause of his death was complications attributed to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (a combination of emphysema and bronchitis), brought on by a lifetime of smoking. This is what my mother died of at the age of 78. I was 5 years old when "Bye, bye love" came out. It wasn't music from my generation. I couldn't even say when I first even heard of the Everly brothers. Apparently they influenced a lot of people.

I'm hoping at the end of this month to get a new desk. I'm tired of these cramped computer desks or these student school type desks, that have very little room. I also need a good chair to go along with it. I'm not going to take out an account at LM until my hours are more or less steady.

My 2nd job will come to an end about the middle of the month. Then it resumes at the end of February for 3 months. As for today I'm working from noon-8pm and home by 9pm. Anyway, that's all for now.

Begining this week I'll be back to the good old

1-9pm shift but I'm 10-6 pm today and noon-8pm Sunday. So its going to be a full couple of busy days ahead.

i09 has posed an interesting question: Which movie do you have to see twice to fully understand it? For me it's been the Matrix series. "Reloaded" in particular. I don't watch a lot of movies. For TV, pick any episode of Doctor Who. I missed the 2004 "Primer" but apparently this one is one of those movies that is very confusing and needs to be seen several times. We've got video on demand to order just about anything out there but after taxes $5 brings movies up to $10 and even that is hard for me to come up with.

I'm going to try to keep my website open for another year but it really doesn't make sense. It's almost $100/year to keep it open and I kind of promised the guy hosting it I'd try for another year. I think I just might pay for the domain name for this year and let site slide. Blogger works ok for me.

We're back into the deep freeze for a few days but apparently in the -1 range. This year has been some of the weirdest weather we've had here. The worst is the freezing rain. Anyway, that's all for now.

Get well cards are often

mixed with other greeting and birthday cards. Its almost like finding a needle in a haystack. About 3pm I went across the street and the falling freezing rain made walking a skating rink out there. I managed a ride to Lodge. We barely had enough to hold a quorum because of the weather a lot of guys we're a no show.

The Oiler's were in San Jose last night and lost 5-1 over the Sharks. They played pitiful and this looks like it's the way of the future for these guys.

Today I'm calling my first job to say I wont be coming in until Saturday. I'm just getting over my cold enough as it is. At least I'll find out what my hours for next week are. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Lodge night tonight and I'm out of here about

5:30pm to get a card and to head out to Lodge. I have keys to get inside. Not that its cold out or anything with the temperature around -3 or so.

About Lodge tonight, we have a couple pieces of new business and some old business to take care of tonight. I'm going to be busy.

Not much going on Coast tonight except their annual prediction show. Not very exciting. The shows get a little better on the weekend.

I'm not a pot smoker never have been one never will but in Colorado and soon Washington in the U.S. A pot smoker can now just go into that store and order a bags worth. Buying pot in Colorado will be at specialty stores taxed at about 30%. This now gives a new meaning to ther term "Drug Store." Also, does this mean that it's now legal to smoke pot anywhere in that state? I wonder how much weed will cost at the new store? Will it go for the same value as "on the street?" Local news interviewed various people and some say they sold there house to move to Colorado just to live there because of the new Law. Local news showed long line ups of people trying to legally buy pot. I'm sure there are a ton of privacy concerns with this new Law, with various Law enforcement watching the initial line ups of people coming and going. I can just imagine the scenario's: "That person we know in a drug bust a month ago claimed he doesn't smoke pot. Apparently we have him now, lets reopen the case," type thing. Also how about the cases where a pot smoker claims his weed is for medical purposes only and is now seen at the retail store buying it. Or what about said pot smoker buying from his dealer and now the dealer is saying "look you buy from me or I won't supply you with other stuff you need." Or with the pot inventories not moving the harder stuff now goes up in price putting a burden on the person buying the hard stuff. So the crime rate goes up. It's still probably cheaper to buy pot on the street. I'm sure all of these questions have been answered already. It's very interesting.

Earlier this morning thanks to YouTube I've been learning a little bit of German. I can now saw "I want to have it": Ich will es habben :-)

I'm working Friday and Saturday. Hopefully on my 1st job we'll have Sunday off but I put my name in for Sunday, if we have it. Beyond that, I don't now. I still have my 2nd job. Anyway that;s all for now.

One of the things I'm really going to buckle down and do for 2014

this is year is get my dental work done and get dentures. It's short term pain for long term gain. If I can get full anesthesia great, if not, ok. I want to get this done by this Spring.

The Oiler's lost in Phoenix because of a turnover. They could have gone into a shoot out but they blew it. Next game is Thursday and I'll be at lodge. Thank God!

I got word that one of our senior lodge members is recovering at home from a heart condition. It was suggested that some of the main officers get a card to have everyone sign Thursday. Good idea. The dollar ramma is open until 6pm tomorrow and I'll go over and find something nice on my way in.

I'm seriously thinking about taking out a account at LM for the Yamaha PSR s750 workstation. This has all I need and a couple of decent speakers as well at a affordable price. Anyway that's all for now.
