You know summer is over here in this city

when the last of the festivals is over. In this case when The Fringe is over, summer is over. Our problem is we have May and June are still 2 good months of summer but the city of Edmonton likes to cram everything into July and August. Even if the city just went with June, July and August would work. There are just way too many festivals and always a chance on missing some. I always miss "Taste of Edmonton." For the most part for me at least the summer is over at the end of August. With this summer I don't mind what with all the hot weather forest fires and lack of rain its been a really dry summer.

I was watching the National news Sunday night and they were talking about the Tens of thousands of migrants escaping Iraq and Syria. The people are fleeing the trouble and civil war plaguing that part of Middle East heading for Europe. They were saying on the news that there hasn't been this much refuge exodus since the 2nd world war.

Last nights Summer slam was really good. Anne is watching the encore version now. On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate it a 9. We're not sure if we are going to keep subscribing to the wwe network. We're mostly interested in their pay per views like "Money in the bank," "Summer slam" and "Wrestlemania" anyway. We tried it out and kicked the tires but we're not sure if we're going to keep ths subscription especially now since I don't have steady work. Besides I can always watch the smaller pay per views like "Pay back" "Night of Champions," those kinds of things up at the bar where there's a real crowd that gets right into it.

Speaking of my new eating out place isn't Wendy's anymore it's Red Robbin. Mainly because they are across the street and I don't have to go there for just food. They've got a great burger selection and their fries are the best here in Edmonton and I can go there for a beer if I want and just have a order of fries. Plus I signed up for their eclub and I get a free burger on my birthday, which is pretty cool. Anyway, that's all for now.

I was going to go out today

but I’ve got all week. Anne’s going to get some things she wants to do like look into a medical subsidy for us her Doctor referred us to. She also wants to check on insurance as well.

Saturday here in Edmonton we had “A Taste of Animethon.” It had 1,505 people for the event, which wasn’t to bad. I’m not a fan of Anime per se’ but it looked like a fun event. And I hope next years event is even bigger August 22nd weekend is the annual Fan Expo Canada and it's got a lot of stuff going on for that 4 day event. Including, Stan Lee, Joe Sakic, David Hasselhoff, Joe Montana, SLASH, Zachary
Quinto, Alice Cooper and even Hulk Hogan brother! There's more about it here:

At first I thought getting a new PC has it's advantages. I can use it for gaming and of course music and I haven't ruled that out yet. Then I cam across the Akai Synthstation. It's been around for awhile but what I like about it is it can be used in conjunction with the iPad 3rd Gen. The only thing it's missing is 2 midi out cables. I'm looking at getting this and at under $75 it looks pretty good.

Coast had a great show this morning UFO's & Wormholes: Joining John B. Wells on Sunday night, UFO researcher Wilbur Allen presented an update on UFO sightings that he believes are beyond this world, and demonstrate craft entering and leaving our atmosphere through a wormhole or stargate. Apparently he caught this stuff on cameras with very high frame rates and presented a video taken of frame rates per second. It's an interesting topic. I'm not sure why ET would come to this planet unless it's a staging ground between galaxies. Maybe we're the only civilization that hasn't the capability to detect them, who knows? A wormhole would be the only way to span large distances between systems not as advanced as theirs. We should be able to detect a wormhole by its magnetic field. it's a science that's beyond our capability.

So this means I can check for my school transcripts this week and Tuesday I’m going out to start my cpp. Wednesday I’m in for a few hours and off for the rest of the week. I like having a couple of weeks off. Tonight it's Monday night Raw and after that Anne and I are going across the street to "Bo'diddly's Pub." I'm thinking about treating us to some nacho' but this is my chance to have a Guinness. Anyway, that's about all for now.

As a young man in

in my early 20’s unemployed in New Westminster at the time, there was a place I’d go to occasionally that I’d go and pick up my comic books and have a burger. I liked the place because it had booths and the burgers were good. I think it was along 10th & 3rd streets in between downtown and uptown New West. At the time I was heavily into reading Archie comic books and I was looking for a place like “Pops” or like “Arnolds” from Happy days, but a bit laid back. A place that could have been right out of the 1940’s drugstores.. I tried looking for it on Google Maps and found a place similar to it. Well, the building looks familiar but that was something like 37 years ago. I‘d give anything to be able to go back in time and live my life over from that time I got the Army & Navy job with Lou April.

There were a lot of places I used to eat at back in the early 1970's. My favorite place though (long gone now) was the Fraser cafe across the street beside where "The Keg" is now. Across from The Fraser cafe was a little greasy spoon called The Pacific cafe, although I mostly ate at The Fraser cafe in those days. Both establishments are long gone.

I met James at Tim’s this morning and walked with him to the office. We did a tap campaign, fresh. I ended up with over $800 and about $200 on card. Apparently according to Jattan staff can’t receive any bonus money if they don’t put in a minimum of 35 hours a week. He’s going to give them to me this week because I’ll have 42 hours in at the end of the week. I ended up with a $10 bonus and in 4th place as far as the tap shooters go.

I rode home alone on the LRT after a bit of a sprinkle I guess we had about 4:30pm. I’m glad because there are some people there that I don’t get along with and one in particular always seems to latch onto me as I’m heading into the office on my commute at Rexall. All I want to do is to wake up and ride in alone. I called Anne at Clairview and she had breakfast/brunch ready for me when I came in. Good stuff.

This week, I’ll be working Sunday 5 hours, Monday 7 hours, Tuesday 8 hours, Wednesday 8 hours, Thursday Lodge, Friday 8 hours, Saturday 6 hours for a total of 42 hours. This works out great because next weekend is Thanksgiving weekend. All I have to do is to go in for Saturday and I have the 9th & 10th off. Great. Anyway, that’s all for now.
