The good news is that its Friday

and looks like I could be going back to work after our Thanksgiving day weekend. Like everyone else I have bills. Also, I have some plugins I want to buy for my music. When work slowed down at the end of July, I saved a bit for August and September.

Normally our local weather this time of year would be about 10-14. We're lucky today if we can get temps up to +6.
We have a few days ahead where temps gain a bit more ground, to about 10-14. This autumn has certainly been cooler then past years.

Looks like Kavanaugh passes, and gets to advance to the full US senate. Most people including myself thought this was a smear campaign but I got to admit I admire the bravery of Doctor Ford to give testimony under oath. I've been more siding with her then Kavanaugh. The vote was close one 11-10. Remember allegations are not fact.

The wife is sleeping I'm sitting here thinking about another video I want to upload to You tube. Its part three of my "Jim's dub beat." Before I do though I want to get a 1/4" male to male cable that goes from my Novation Circuit, to my Focusrite audio interface to my computer. Signal path. This way I can record the current sample in my daw (Reason 10) and use the filter sweep of Novation. I might have to load a snippet of the sample in Circuit and affect the sample directly then record it from there. So, lets see I've got a Eskimo football game to watch tomorrow, two nights off to myself, this weekend and lodge practice Sunday So I've got things to do this weekend. Have a nice weekend everyone, anyway, that's all for now.

Our budgie bird didn't

make it early Sunday morning. We got another buddy for our remaining bird though. Still no word about work but I'm ok with having the time off. I'm still holding out for something to develop next week or otherwise I got to get another ei claim going. There are a few plugins I'd like to get. The Oilers tore it up earlier this evening. 6-0👀 Other then that not much is going on. Anyway, that's all for now.

We have 2 cats in our household

and they're a big part of this family. All our pets are. What, Jim, you have more? We have 2 budgie birds and a aquarium of fish. One of my close friends after describing the problem with the bird thinks it could be an anal gland issue. Anne's at the vet now. We think the bird might need to be put down if there's nothing we can do for him. Anne's already thinking of a bird replacement. This has been the 2nd bird replacement (if it happens) for our current green budgie.

While I was never a fan of the teams Jerome Iginla (Iggy) played on, I liked the player. I knew it was going to happen and it wasn't a surprise to me to hear about of his retirement from hockey. He spent 22 years in the NHL, six with Calgary. In all those years he had 7 82 game seasons, 17 seasons with 20 goals or more. He was in the 2010 Olympics. His best year (goal output wise) was scoring 52 goals in 2000-2001. During his year with Denver, I was hoping the Oilers could get him for a 1 year deal and retire his Jersey here, just to piss off Calgary 😎 Last night on local news The City of Saint Albert where he grew up, honored Iggy in a special way of naming the Akinsdale Arena, the Jerome Iginla arena. Its a classy mover for a class guy. He was just on the wrong side of the "Battle of Alberta."

Still no word on work from last week. I'm watching most of the Eskimo/Ottawa CFL🏈 game here in about an hour, then out for some lunch across the street for a Red Robbin burger with a friend. Then work on my music. 🎹 I got a like and a comment from my most recent track from last week and a new sub. For some reason I can't break the 30 sub mark. With Anne working tonight I'm also going to rearrange my "studio" somewhat as well. Anyway, that's all for now.

This week there's been a debate

here in Edmonton as to what to do with the Coliseum grounds area. The Mayor wants to have the building demolished. Council is more or less on board but then what? There have been some other proposals previously to this week. One was to repurpose the Coliseum for a senior student housing complex. I was on board with this. Now any idea of repurposing the Coliseum building is off the table in these recent set of proposals advanced this week. The four proposals can be seen here. My pick was the last one C2, mainly because it was a balance of the 4 and would move the lrt/bus loop to 117th Ave and line it up with the Edmonton Expo. This proposal is many years away and I doubt I'll be around to see any of it. You can read up on this here

The Oilers are now 2/7 pre season W's on the board. Last year the team did well in the pre season and didn't make the playoffs. Oilers brass made a few tweaks here and there during the off season, and basically the pre season is all about players getting contracts.

The Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo (Edmonton Expo) is this weekend. We get the usual Doctor Who, Star trek, all things science fiction and pop culture etc in a 3 day event. I like the panels, all the costumed people the swag and autograph photo ops, all kinds of cool stuff. Last year over 20,000 people came through the doors for Fan Expo Unfortunately like last year I wont be able to get there. Anyway that's all for now.

Having some nice time off here

as I haven't been back to work since 2 weeks as of today, and even then it was for just a few hours. I'm getting a little restless. In the new year thought thanks to the minimum wage increase, I'm cutting back to 3 days week.

We finally have a bit of sunshine around here. We got double digits today sitting at 11* Next week we're into single digits but normally we're into double digits up until mid October. Its early November we're hovering around +1-0. I'm thankful for small mercies 🌞

During my time off I'm preparing additional pension forms, following the Oilers preseason, watching CFL games, reading, music production staying up late and going to bed late. I enjoy days in which Anne is working and I get some quality time to myself. Anyway, that's all for now.

Not much going on

for today or even this week for that matter. I was considering lodge today but I'm trying to update a track I began last weekend. I've got limited time this afternoon to do it in. Then again, I have some of Sunday before "Hell in a cell." Monday, its the aftermath of Sunday, and its a 7pm Oilers/Flames preseason game?😃I like this.

I've been trying to prepare these 2 tax form years for my federal supplement pension. I have the materials here. Its disheartening because there is a year round turn around before you hear from anyone, and if you cross the wrong t or dot the wrong I, the form comes back. I have a contact number, because I need conformation about something before I get them out. Once its been approved and set up, it only needs to be done only once. I'll be setting this up tomorrow night.

Other then working on those forms wrestling and hockey, I got nothing else going on this week, unless I get back to work. I'm hoping to get a call to go back in sometime mid week. Thanks to YouTube video's I'm learning the many instruments that come with Reason 10. I still haven't figured out the main ones. Anyway, that's about all for now.

I was out at lodge

last night until about 10pm. I didn't have any alcohol, just a couple cans of pop. The perogy dinner looked rather spartan from the plates I saw. Nice bunch of guys though. I think this was the first time I've been to Edmonton #7. I'm considering going to lodge Saturday, again at Freemason's hall downtown. Two lodges in one week? Semi retirement has its advantages

Calgary is exploring the possibility of hosting another winter Olympics. They want to see if the idea is feasible for 2026 but they may need to hold a plebiscite on the issue. The project is slated to cost about $5 billion! The City of Calgary wont even provide funds for a new arena which would last for about 30 years. Calgary would want Edmonton to fork out some of that cash, but we'd be able to host curling and get an honorable mention. 👎 BC could be involved as well but they would need to pony up some cash. First of all Alberta is in debt of something like $71 billion. Our oil isn't getting out to market. As for Edmonton, our revenues are about $3.20 billion. I think we should focus more on our waste diversion targets then the 2026 winter Olympics.

I haven't checked into the office yet to know what's going on with work. I was last in the office a week ago and super was hinting about a possible upcoming project. Since the office hadn't called me yet, I'm in no hurry to get back. Next week, I'm interested on going back to work though. I just called the office, we could be closer to learn what's going on for next week. I'm to call Tuesday morning. Next week sounds good for getting back. I'd more or less be ready.

This weekend I'm focused on my Reason 10 track. Saturday, Commercial lodge. Sunday is WWE's "Hell in a cell." And there's probably a CFL 🏈 game in there I could watch among other things. Its mid week and we're getting some snow, just now in mid September yet. Anyway, that's all for now.

Just relaxing at home today

not a lot going on for a quiet Sunday. I woke up late about 11:30 this morning. I answered some email, on Connect to Edmonton message board, You Tube, and working on a chill dub track, learning more Reason 10 workflow. Also researching modular stuff.

Its been on the cooler side of +11 today and overcast. Sunsets shortly after 8pm these days.

Not sure when work resumes but I still want to work 4 days/week for this month, and then down to 3 next month. As for this week, I'm going to be working on the gis pension. I haven't heard from the boss about work. September is usually slow anyway 😃. I have no medical appointments. I's like to go out to lodge Tuesday night. That may be in the cards. Anyway, that's all for now.

I had a great night at

lodge last night. I got a ride to lodge. We had a full house. I did a bit of lodge work, did some clean up. I got a replacement wm jewel. With any luck I hope to join Royal Arch before the end of the year. Or Spring of next year. I also had some desert at the festive board watching a presentation of the Knights Templar. One of my lodge brothers that lives up here in my area even drove me home. It was a great night.

I'm looking to get Apple's AV adapter dongle this afternoon and a HDMI cable at Best buy across the street. The dongle goes into my iPad, then the HDMI cable goes from the AV adapter connected to the iPad to the back of my computer monitor HDMI port. The idea is in iPad landscape mode using obs on my computer to properly screen record my iPad screen bypassing the i0s 11 (mono) screen recording. I'll be able to do tutorials on my i0s apps. This way, my recordings will be in stereo I can then drop the video into Luma Touch onto my iPad for further editing. Also, with obs I can have a picture in a picture as in some of my more recent video's with Reason 10. Something to keep me occupied. The AV adapter is $70 at Best buy. That's not on Best Buy, that's Apple charging way too much for their dongles.

Tomorrow is the labour day classic. And C.J.Gable is right, we beat ourselves, not Calgary. The score was 20-20 up until the 64 second mark of the 4th quarter. And Stamps qb was wondering why Gable had the gaul to say that? Because its true. We might lose tomorrow at Commonwealth, who knows? I'm hoping we can win. Pride is on the line. Anyway, that's all for now.

I'm off work for awhile

(again) but this time I don't mind. We have our bills covered. I got a full shift last night but Super has only so many hours to work with. Its a small project. Before I left for work, super said I should call Friday for further work next week. We have something on the immediate horizon. So I'll enjoy a week off.

Its not like I don't have anything else to do. I've got some forms to fill out. I hate filling out forms. So at the moment, I'm drinking coffee trying to wake up. Anne is also off work. She gets a few days in during the week, I get my few days in during the week. It works out good. Besides this is just a dress rehearsal for when the Province increases min wage to $15/hour in October 😒 For us it means that we have to watch our hours. If we make too much we lose out on a lot of thigs that would far exceed the difference between what we earn and what we get in the way of services. So I don't mind working 3 days week, when we get projects.

What with this being a short week, and he Esks at Calgary labour day classic, yesterday was work, tomorrow night lodge, Friday haircut and I'm going to get a Apple AV adapter and a hdmi cable. I can plug in my iPad to the adapter, hdmi cable to the back of my monitor, and obs screen record how I use my apps. Yes over the weekend I got obs to work with my daw, at last. Under daw preferences, I click in the audio tab locate the drop down menu, find mme Focusrite, engage that. In obs right click the cog wheel in the mic Aux, click Advanced Audio properties, make sure both boxes have
monitor and output. Each box click twice, easy. Anyway, that's all for now.

I love my Saturday's because I can have this day

to myself. I don't mind it spending with friends or family. Even though I only had just a couple of hours on the job, I still like these days. After a bit of relaxing, I can get things done. Saturday's are my favorite days of the week.

Wow, here we are already its September. It was just the end of March on that Easter weekend I was connecting with old Friends. I got the new computer in June, Reason 10 in July, working most of the summer.
Most likely its just as I get older times speeds up. I remember when I was 18 years old living on Regan Ave. Mom was having a smoke and I was there chatting with her about how hard it was for an 18 year old way back in 1971. She looked at me like I was nuts, "its a wonderful age," she'd say. How right she was. Can't believe how fast this summer went.

At the moment its a mix bag of weather. Its nice and sunny now but slightly unstable. Wind, Sun, rain. Almost all at once. I love it. So, I have the CFL Labour day classic, Edmonton/Calgary game, then Monday night Raw. I'm in the office Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday is Lodge night, Friday I'm in the office, and another long weekend. I'm all caught up in my bills, life is good. Anyway, that's all for now.
