sandwich with fries n gravy for dinner and a homemade yogurt fruit medley, yum.
This is cool: Stephan Hawking and Russian entrepreneur Yuri Milner are to work together with SETI to fund $100 million to search for not just radio waves but optical laser transmissions from other star systems. Its called Breakthrough Listen. They akin to a piano with just 88 keys now using billions of keys. Its a 10 year project and the first observations will begin early next year. Its the largest search for alien life ever. This will all be open to the public. Here's a link out of the Scientific American.
The Edmonton Oiler's finally announced today the last great act for Rexall place will be to hang Glen Sather's name up to the rafters alongside with that of Wayne Gretzky, announcer Rod Phillips, Mark Messier, Grant Fhur among others. That will be 10 banners now. Its about time for Slats. The Oiler's will be doing this in September. I hope to see Connor McDavid's name up there some day.
Since Anne is home, today is my best chance to go to the lab and get a couple of bank statements for our health benefits claim for the provincial government. Then home to check my messages to see if my place of employment called about the next upcoming project. If I don't hear from them by Wednesday, Thursday I'm activating my ei. Anyway, that's all for now.

Having a nice weeeknd so far
and it's +16* out there making it nice for sleeping.
Mostly today I've been doing music production research. My Reallpc guitar vst plugin when using Guitar Rig for instance crashes as soon as I launch the program (GR). Reallpc works ok in stand-a-lone, which is kind of lame. It even works ok in my DAW but as soon as I open up an amp simulator lake GR I get heavy cpu spikes and crash! It's disappointing. I'm not about to go out and spend hundreds of dollars on a new PC. I heard about IK media's guitar rig and guitar rig midi for the iPad. I can use the vst guitars in Sample Tank through a third party iPad program called Audio bus. In a YouTube video about iRig midi I asked if I can plug iRig into my laptop and get the signal chain out of Reallpc through iRig midi into my iPad and use Amplitube and the Reallpc signal chain in iPad. IRig midi is about a $60 program so if I go down to LM after work this week and pick it up, it's not going to break me if it doesn't work and I might go get this next weekend. Just some of the fun stuff I'm working on.
Tomorrow is the Esks/Hamilton game so I'll be following that a bit. This is the first road game for Edmonton in this years CFL campaign.
Still on a sports theme, the Oiler's cut lose Sean Horcoff and Nikolai Khabibulin this week. Khabibulin didn't do a damn thing for the Oiler's except cost the Oiler's more money. Horcoff's shelf life as a hockey player and as an Oiler were on the verge of expiring anyway. We got a new coach and got rid of some excess baggage and saved some cap room. We just need a couple of big power forwards and out of Rexall place but out of the Rex won't happen for about another 3 years. But at least a new arena and a funding model is in the works. Things are looking good for the Oiler's
I'm still trying to find a way to get my Twitter feed on my Facebook (FB) site. I don't have a fan page up yet because I have no music up and I think you can only get a Twitter feed up and running only on a fan/business page. There's a lot of info about this but it's obsolete since FB has changed everything lately. I have my Twitter feed on this blog but not on my website. Anyway, that's all for now.

The weekends are so short
and I miss my other job with Xentel. Every 3 months due to "my seniority" the boss had to kick me out every 3 months for a week. All of it paid for and when it was a long weekend in there, I got paid for that as well but that was like after 12 years of being with the company. Fat chance that's ever going to happen again. I'll be lucky if I stay at this place for 6 months due to shortage of work.
The other day Oiler's boss Craig MacTavish (MacT) went and fired the Oiler's 6th head coach Ralph Krueger. I don't think Kruger was given a fair chance after the league went on strike, he had 6 moths barely even a full season after he took over from Tom Renney. Krueger has 2 years remaining on his contract. Krueger coached 48 games and MacT is now looking at Toronto Marlies coach Dallas Eakins and so are Dallas Stars, New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks. This new guy might be what the Oiler's need moving forward. Maybe Krueger will get picked up by one of the above teams, who knows.
The other thing is as of August, I need 4 more years. If I can hold on for another 3.5 years, then I'm applying for my full pension and filing for unemployment insurance for the last 6 months until it comes in and put some savings aside for 6 months so it's like another 3 years in the workplace. I'll most likely will work part time, 3 days a week something like that.
I've got absolutely nothing going on this week. Other then our Lodge BBQ I'm having the summer (other then work-if I have work in July/August) off
Other then working on my music (I've got a 40 bar track I'm working on. I've got a intro/chorus/verse-middle-chorus/Bridge/chorus/chorus/outro kind of thing going on. The track is populated with drums, bass and organ so far. I made a talking part for my lyrics of me talking out my lyrics (not rap) just to put that in with the other parts of the music. Using my bullet strat guitar I'm just laying out power chords, sampling them into the project. The next major thing for my music is the studio monitors and I hope to get them later this month. Anyway, that's about all for now.
