cleaning up a project. The other half on our recent project. Both are pretty good. This current project should go until about mid March, which doesn't sound right because its such a big project. Its ok either way because I go back to my other job March 1st.
Blog update:
We went to Cora's and I just got in (3:50pm). Anne took this photo of me finishing my coffee:
On Coast tonight currently under way the topic is about alien abductions. More specifically about a couple of campers out in the Mojave desert that claim they were abducted by aliens in 1989. Recent history has no shortage of these kinds of tales. The alien abduction tales that fascinate me the most are the ones where the abductees are under hypnosis. I'm not that familiar with the Hess brothers case. There are certain steps in the case against hypnotherapy in this regard. Some of them include; A person is predisposed to accept the idea that certain puzzling or inexplicable experiences might be telltale signs of UFO abduction. Or Alternative explanations of the experiences are not explored. There are others as explained here. The other tests that could be used would be a polygraph such as the Thomas Walton UFO polygraph test. There;s also the Betty & Barny Hill case, which is fascinating in its own right. There are other ways to uncover the truth such as voice stress analysis, or VSA test. I'd like to put all of these recent Cosby casses under a VSA test to see how well they stand up against VSA results. Years after the JFK assassination researchers took the Oswald interrogation tapes over to a VSA specialist and apparently Oswald passed a VSA test but would he would have taken a VSA test if such a test were available in 1963? Even VSA tests has its critics as well. Getting back to the Hess story, would their story hold up under hypnotherapy or a VSA test or both? The results might be interesting to find out.
Early this afternoon Anne and I are going across the street to try out Cora. Its a restaurant cafe chain that's popular here in Edmonton. We have a location right across the street.
as its been there for a couple of years now. Anne's sister in Winnipeg says its good and so do the people on the Connect 2 Edmonton forum. They close by 3pm but even if we arrive late they wont turn us away. After that later that evening, I've got our finale lodge practice for our degree coming up on Thursday and we're going to rent the last James Bond movie "Spectre" when I come back from lodge practice.
This week after holiday Monday, I'm in the office 4-9:30pm, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday off for Lodge and in Friday, Saturday and I hope Sunday. I missed checking the schedule on the way out of the office. I'll know when I get back to work Tuesday. Anyway, that's all for now.
Saturday was watching the Oilers/Canucks game. That game should have been won in a shoot-out but it was a Oiler 2-1 loss in OT. I thought our goal tender played decent enough but that last shot ordinarily he should have stopped.
Anne wants to head out of here about 2pm for Londonderry Mall. There's a coat there she wants me to try on and she needs some stuff. Then its to Capital Pizza for our Christmas Pizza tradition. After that its home to watch the Oilers/Flames on TV. Anyway, that's all for now.
Humpty's Sunday afternoon for a brunch but Humpty's doesn't serve up breakfast sausages. Its easy enough to get to. We just take the #2 bus. I had a great bacon cheese burger/fries. Anne had a ham and egg breakfast.
We missed out #2 bus heading back but even with a snow and rain mix it was still a fairly mild day. We decided to take the #10 bus to Clareview. That's when I noticed this tree bent over. It looked tired and like an old man. I felt a connected to it as it kind of reminds me of myself, tired and old. Being darker outside that time of day makes the photo even darker taken from a iPod Touch. Even after the photo is edited. The #10 bus here is a longer way around but that #10 changes to a #11 and it drops us right across the street from our place. I wanted to check out the new Shoppers drug mart and Anne led me to it. Its a nice store. Its a bit more expensive then most stores but that's Shoppers. At least they have a 6/49 stand. Anyway that's all for now.
then its bite. The plan later this afternoon is to head up the street to the Manning shopping centre area for brunch at Smitty's but once Anne takes a look out at that weather, will she even want to go? I don't care myself. Its only a short walk. Our options are limited today because to the lrt needs to shut the Clareview to Corona portion of the line down to accommodate a contractor doing utility work on the Valley line. Once a month doesn't go by when the ETS has to shut the half the lrt Capital line down. They have replacement buses which work well.
I got the webcam C270 software to work with the laptop. Its for the most part pretty good. I've got to tinker with the gain/contrast a bt more. The but in all of this has to do with their "Gallery sharing" to YouTube/Twitter and Facebook. They don't work. Gallery interface doesn't recognize my YouTube account. Other posters on YouTube with the same webcam have issues with Facebook, nothing happens. The work around is the initial opportunity to have the finished video sent to their "Motion detection" folder. From there, I can drag the video out to my laptop's desktop and, then drag and drop it onto a flash drive then into my desktop already open YouTube account and publish from there. Everything else with the webcam works except their sharing aspect and apparently Logitech's tech support isn't that user friendly. Still with music, I'm considering the iELectribe for my iPod Touch. Its a cool app for about $16 bucks and I've been looking at the iKaoss pad for the iPhone. Garage band has added a Audiobus like feature to its eco system but on my single core iPod Touch processor makes the outcome in Garage band clip too much. I'm not sure if this is a product of the hardware or the software.
At the moment I'm having my first coffee waking up. I woke out of bed at noon today. Anne wants me to wake her up at 2pm. Last night I won a free 6/49 lottery ticket by hand picking 2 numbers Friday. Plus my Calgary/BC Lions CFL game came in my favour last night. I have 3 NFL games on that ticket. Two to win and one to tie. I got the NFL picks from the Brady and Walker show Friday before I left for work. I'm curious as to see how these games will play out for $83 bucks.
If we get out for brunch ok, if not ok as well. Tonight the Oiler's are in Chicago. On the Oiler's website the poll asks "How many games will the Oiler's win on this (CFR) road trip. Most respondents are more optimistic then I am. they say 2 games. I say 1. This road trip will be a good road trip for Eberle to get back into the swing of things. If anything its going to put the Oiler's 2nd from last place. The CFR screws the Oiler's up every season. Its hard to play 500 hockey when your on the road so much. The schedule is not very kind to the Oiler's. Never has been. Anyway, that's about all for now.
transportation department decided to shut the Capital line down from Clareview to Corona station from 9am-noon. This is not uncommon. ETS put replacement buses instead of the off line lrt. In the meantime one of the biggest events of the city was getting ready for the "Run for the Cure" breast cancer. It took me ten minutes to get out of the downtown cor. I wasn't late or anything but why ETS could not have done this 3 hour job from 4-7 am? Not that I have any interest in the above mentioned event, but its just another one of those events the city knew about, but thought their work was more important. It was no hardship for me as I was out there at 820am yesterday. It took me an hour and a half to to get from Clareview to 124th street and 107th Ave.
Leaving yesterday at 6pm there was my #5 bus heading downtown. A colleague and I had to wait half an hour for the next #5. Fortunately for me he had a cell phone and he placed a call for me to Anne. I said I was on my way. I got to Clareview at 7:15pm. I called Anne and said she was just starting brunch. I didn't get into the door until about 7:40pm.
Back in 2007 our transportation department spent 3 years before that to investigate a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) model. That "study" and the dollars attached to that was axed. The City at the time thought they'd have to remove some houses and businesses along some routes and didn't think it was ost effective at the time. Fast forward to 2015 city council is now re opening the BRT option. By the time the city has a BRT to the West end for example, that portion of the Valley line will be operational and tens of thousands of more dollars spent and wasted. I'm not saying a BRT is a bad idea I'd love a 1 stop bus from here to downtown. I'd take that over the lrt any day. I'd just like to see the city do something instead of study after study.
I'm leaving out of here again for work in about a hour. The only thing I've got on my agenda this week is work and a day off on Thursday to watch the Oiler's season opener. I get 2 days off over Thanksgiving weekend. Anyway, that's all for now.
since I had any meaningful work. Thirty eight days exactly. I had 1 shift July 24th and even if I didn't have the lodge bbq all I would have got out of that last project would have been about 2 days. I'll be putting more resumes for other part time work. The idea is for 3 and 3 days.
Last nights Stamps Riders game was close but not the outcome I was hoping for: 34-31. The Riders had a costly penalty and too many turnovers. Now the Stamps are first place in the West. Its Redblacks/Argo's at about 1pm today. So, that was week 9 in the cfl.
With my new yahoo email account I was able to have installed a feature on my iPod touch absent since I got the iPod: A new Flikr account. Now, I can upload photo's and video's directly from my iPod to my Flikr account. Of course I need a wifi connection but there's no shortage of those around on my commute, so I'm happy about that.
Anne wants to take me out for Sunday brunch today over here at Humpty's. We really can't afford it. We haven't been there in years. I'd rather have brunch here because if we got out time wise could compromise my Summer slam. We have a Cora across the street but it hasn't had great reviews. Hopefully Anne will change her mind because of Summer slam. I'm going to let her sleep in as much as possible. The longer I let her sleep, the "its too late to go" she'll say. Anyway, that's all for now.
tournament last night Canada won 1-0. There was 53,000 in attendance at Commonwealth Stadium.
There was a lot going on what with FIFA and Pride day and Justin Trudeau and NDP leader Thomas Mulcare. There was a custom made running shoe event going on as well plus there was other activities, like the Craft beer festival underway at the Expo centre. Lots going on.
Today Anne and I are out at Capital Pizza and a ice cream treat at dairy queen. Anyway, that's all for now.
here today. That's what I like about working at this place. No Sunday shift and starting at 4pm Monday I get a bit of a weekend. I can also sleep in Monday morning and during weekdays. At least my cold seems to be about 90% on the mend.
I don't know, the Oiler's must have lucky horse shoes up the ass because yesterday with about a 11% chance of winning the NHL draft lottery, they get the #1 pick, again! Arizona and Buffalo had better odds due to their win loss record then the Oiler's at getting the #1 pick. Lucky or what? That's 4 #1 picks in a row. Unprecedented in the history of the NHL draft lottery. So this year the hype is all over Connor McDavid. The hype machine is saying this guy is a generational player like Gretzky or Crosby. Yeah right. It doesn't mean that's who the Oiler's will pick but that would be total folly if they didn't pick him at the June draft. The Connor McDavid sweepstakes is creating a lot of buzz around town this weekend.
Anne and I were going to go out for a bite to eat today but the lrt is shut down and she has a few errands to go on anyway. Just as well as I wanted to check in on what's going on at Musikmessa 2015 this weekend. Europe's version of NAMM. Lots of great looking gear coming up. Roland is coming out with a modular AIRA type synthesis unit? Wow. So I'm glad we didn't go out today. Even though its +13, it doesn't look very warm out there to me.
I filed for my ei claim February 26 and as of next Friday it will be almost 8 weeks since my claim has been filed with ei. The problem is (or part of it) with my last place of employment. They claimed on the roe I started April 2011 when I was still full time at iMark at the time working 1-9 Monday to Friday and Saturday. If ei can find any bank deposits from my last place of employment for 2011, good luck. Also, when I was working at Crime Watch about this time last year for 3 days before I got fired (as I submitted that roe to ei as well) The roe said I quit the job, which is a crock. If the claim is approved I'd like to keep the claim going without getting any ei money because I'm on a probationary period at the new job. So if the job doesn't work out I'll have the ei claim to fall back on as I look for something else.
The downtown arena is progressing nicely. They put a huge adjoining truss between the egress of the winter garden and the arena this morning. Anyway that's all for now.
new job (3 days probably to see if I can sell) I wont be getting paid. That's ok because I'll learn my ei fate on Friday anyway, apparently. Beyond that, I don't know.
Its overcast out there and the sun is shining above the clouds somewhere. We got a high of +16 today but we're closer to about +14 now. Tomorrow Anne and I are going to Capital Pizza for her birthday treat, so it should be about +6 when we head out.
I was looking at the Vermona DRM1 Mk 3 drum machine yesterday. Its pretty a pretty slick piece of kit with 72 knobs in total divided between for the kick, snare etc. There's a line of knob controls for each instrument, Its rack mount piece of hardware with gate trigger inputs. This thing isn't cheap either on Ebay I've seen one for about $1000 per unit, but if I had the money...
Today is Pi day. Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world.
Pi (Greek letter “Ï€”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a
constant-the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its
diameter-which is approximately 3.14159.
Why so special? The date is 3/14/15, the first five digits in the ratio
of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. Apparently the next
Pi day won't be around for another 100 years. I've tagged this under
strange stuff. You can learn more about Pi here.
Yesterday I did my first ei report online dated for the period before yesterday. Technically I haven't started a full time job yet and if I last beyond the week, I'll have to report it. Everything is done online now. Gone are the cards in a self addressed envelop mail days. Anyway, that's all for now.
about 3:30pm waiting until about 4pm for our bus to 72nd Street and 144th Ave. I knew we had about a quarter of a mile walk but it wasn't that bad out there. We miss judged our #11 bus so we caught the #182 instead and as soon as we were heading West along 144th and 72nd, I turned and there was our #11. As it turned out I didn't mind the brief walk to Giant Tiger. Our ultimate goal was Capital Pizza. Last time we went out there was Fathers Day 2013. The YouTube video top left is a result of our last visit. Anne did her shopping and I brought my book along. The Pizza was as good as ever. I almost bought a ounce of Drambuie but for $6 bucks I decided against it. Here's a picture of me after dinner:
The only complaint I had was it was kind of dark in there. My new iPod Touch though with the flash on took a decent picture. Subject matter not withstanding of course. We had pizza left over to take home.
After pizza we went to Dairy Queen. I had my usual Strawberry Sunday. They're the best. I love DQ ice cream. We caught the #10 back and got off at Belvedere. We had a bit of a wait for the train. We got to thinking that next time, we should take the bus to Clareview, train to Belvedere, #10 to Capital Pizza. The #10 drops us off right there. Anne walked home from Clareview and I read my book waiting for the #11. When I came in Anne had this:
There are a lot of these stray kittens out there. Refugees from refugee families. They abandon these poor things. Some survive winter others don't. I don't know if we're going to keep it. Silky has another year left to go out of 18 but Anne is leaning over to give him to the spca this week. We're calling it Skippy.
Today early this afternoon, I'm running down to Audrey's too pick up my last book. Of the year that is and then home to watch Monday night Raw. My last week off. I hope next week is a easy 5-9 shift until the week after when I'm (hopefully) on days. Anyway, that's all for now.
for today.
Anne wants to go up the street here to Smitties as she needs to make a pit stop into Swiss Chalet. I need to go into Future shop to get a case for my iTouch player. Anne returned the shuffle and the rubber case I thought was for the iPod touch when I bought it last Wednesday. Then I need to get ready for lodge practice tonight so I've got to be out of here by 6pm for 7pm. That's the game plan for today.
I was exhausted last night to do much of anything so I just went home after work. I probably should have tucked into that Chaplin part I'm installing Friday.
Other then the above, I'm working this week Monday-Thursday 2-9, Friday off for lodge and work Saturday from 10-4 as we're having our Christmas party from 4-7. I'll be home Saturday night about 8pm. I need a schedule for next week as I don't know what I'm going to get. At least its a nice Sunny day out there at -4 and should be about -8 on my way to Highlands Hall, unless I can get a ride. Anyway, that's about all for now.
1:30pm yesterday although it was a little breezy out there, it looked like a nice afternoon. I took a few photo's waiting for my bus to Clareview. After a wait at the UoA we got to WEM about 2:30pm and headed right over to Scotiabank theatre. Apparently they would not accept our Scene points because it was a special event. We'd have to pay $27 each. Anne was willing to fork out the money. Instead I bought us 2 tickets for the non 3D 6:30pm showing of Captain America. I was really pissed off with this Wrestlemania about turn. So we decided to go eat at the food court and there wasn't a place to sit down. A guy and his girl got up and left a dirty table for us to sit down and I said "Could you clean up your mess please and they looked at us like we were sub humans or somethig and I said something, "I don't know how they do things in your country," so the guy stared me down saying I was racist and "that's not cool." I said I was sorry I was pissed off etc, and that's not what I meant but he left without incident. A bit of drama. Anne got all upset with me but that didn't last long. I felt bad because I usually don't get confrontational with strangers. I was upset about not being able to use our Scene movie points for Wrestlemania and I hadn't had anything to eat yet.
After that I went to the Games Workshop store and Anne and I had agreed to meet at the water park or the theatre whichever came first. The GS store is a lot smaller then I remember it. There was a game underway taking place and I was able to talk with a clerk there about the books. They have a small selection but I got a close up look at the Black Library Horus Heresy Trade paperback books. There's about 2-3 of them I'd like to get but I usually get my Warhammer 40K books at Audrey's.
After that I headed up to the water park but I couldn't find Anne. It was about 4:30pm. I headed back to the theatre and found some tables near the elevators. I got tired of waiting there for about 40 minutes with no wifi. I headed back to the main floor and down towards the water park and I noticed her by "marine world" watching the sea lions. She wanted a drink and we went into London Drugs and I saw this really "cute" looking black wifi printer for $50! it was on sale and they had a lot of them. Toner cartridges from what the clerk there showed me were $15 for black and $10 for colour. Very reasonable and it came with toner. I almost bought it but Anne came along. We went into Chapters after London Drugs and I got the Warhammer 40K Omnibus book "Salamanders." That's about 20 Warhammer 40K Omnibus books in my library so far and . Then we went to the Captain America line up and after 20 minutes on my feet, we found some seats near the back.
The movie was awesome. on a scale of 1-10 I'd rate it an 11. I enjoyed everything about the movie. A couple of points though; first. It's not "Captain America and his Howling Commandos." It's Sargent Fury and his Howling Commandos. The Hydra agents are supposed to be in their green jumpsuits with a big yellow H on the front to resemble Yellow suspenders and a green/yellow mask. Other then those 2 points, I liked the whole movie. It was great. After the movie someone on the elevator going down was just getting out of Wrestlemania and we got some surprising updates.
We had a bit of a wait at WEM for our #4 to "South Campus." It's a stop just before Century park on the lrt. There were lots of Oiler jersey's on the train. I knew there was a game I was missing at Rexall on TV and I asked what the score was, 4-2 Oiler's. Perone and Hall each got goals and are at 27 each and Erbele got his 25th. After a bit of a wait at Clareview on the #11 we finally got home shortly before 11. We were out for almost 10 hours. All in all except for that bit of drama earlier it was a good day after all.
All in all except for that bit of drama at the mall, it was a good outing. We almost went for a beer after London Drugs but there wasn't time.
So, this week I'm in for Monday 5-9, Tuesday 1-9, Wednesday 5-9 and I have that appointment Thursday 5-9 and Friday 3-9, Saturday 10-6pm for 32.5 hours. Hopefully. Anyway, that's all for now.
for Sunday brunch at Rickies yesterday afternoon. It was a nice little outing but the trains were crowded yesterday.
About 4:30pm she comes in with a new addition to the family. A nice white budgie with bits of blue fur. Anne decided to name it Pecker. Stupid name for a bird, yeesh.
I try to see the important genre movies that come out. Anne and I went to see 2 movies this year at the theater. We went to see the last GI Joe movie. I rate this 3/5 popcorn's. I wanted to see Star Trek into Darkness at the theater but we managed to see it in Video on Demand. That was the best movie of 2013 just like James Bond Skyfall was the best movie of 2012.
I had a great evening going over Lodge stuff and reading a bit. I updated my Goodreads Space Wolf Omnibus. I'm about 63% done and I hope to complete by the end of the year. Then I'm starting the Horus Heresy series. That's my reading project for the year more or less.
On tap today, is to go over more Lodge stuff and work on my track a bit. This afternoon, I'm watching a bit of CFL. After that watch Monday night Raw and watch the Oiler's lose, again.
This week is a short week but I'm having the weekend off because I'm going to try and get a ride out to Spruce Grove for a district meeting. Failing that I'm going to go to the South side and get that SSHD upgrade. My first choice is to go to the District meeting as it'd be nice to get out of the City. Even if it's just for a day and I'm inside for most of it. Anyway, that's about all for now.
I love my wife, I was in bed by 2am! I had a good 8 hours of sleep but by the last 6 hours or so my back was getting soar. That’s my body saying “Ok Jimmy, get out of bed.”
Later about 2:30pm Anne and I want to be on the road Clareview LRT to downtown/Corona/ #1 bus to WEM. It’s a long trip on a Sunday. Might take 45 minutes to get out there. Anne wants to get off at the bus terminal at WEM and work our way over to Silver City theater and order our tickets for WWE “Money in the bank” (6pm we can actually reserve our seats) and then get a bite to eat at the food court. Then after that we should have a few hours it’s work our way East (in the mall) towards “Target.” They took over Zeller’s as their store opened up this last Spring. While she’s doing that I’m going to visit “Game on sports.” (At gos) It’s right beside Target. I’m not going into Target but Anne is, and as she’s in Target I’m going to my store. I’m hoping to get a Oiler’s Esk’s hoodie or a wind breaker and an Esks hat or maybe both.
After that it’s hook up with each other outside of Target and work our way through to the theaters. I’d like to be there by 5:30pm because there’s the pre “Money in the bank” match. It’s three hours long! We should be on a #1 bus about 10pm and home before 11pm. With any luck.
This week I have a full week ahead of me as my hours are from 9-5 Monday-Thursday. Friday it’s a little easier 9-1 but then Saturday I’m in from 10-6pm and it’s a full day of cold calling, uggh. I’m going to ask for a revision on that as I’d rather work 9-5 Friday then cold calling all day Saturday for the same hours. Anyway, that’s all for today.
