Labour day long weekends are usually

pretty good with lots of football and decent weather. In my case I have 3 days off and I wont get vacation pay because of the following:

I lost my job at Direct Buy last night. I really enjoyed the work but if you don't get the public relation's/pr's (the people you try and get the visitors pass and the information brochure) the directors can't can't sell them memberships. The more pr's into the showroom the better chances the directors can turn them into members. It gets even harder if most of the pr's are 2-5 hours out of town. Then you got to sort out those that are old people because old people don't do reno's or projects. Then our source was called "club general." I'm lucky if I get 5-8 pr's in a 5.5 hour shift. I had 3 presentations but none of them converted into members. A basic membership is $6,000 but if your a homeowner spending $10-$15,000 and you can save anywhere from 50% or more off a store's sale price because your buying direct, it makes sense. I got the news my job at Direct buy was in jeopardy 2 weeks ago August 16th. The days leading up to that was great. On that Saturday, that's when the boom was lowered. I don't get a member between then and last night, I'm gone. I was sure with all the pr's I was getting, some of them had to come in. Only 3 in August. One of the directors last night said that all that was coming in for the night were what they call "bionics." These are people that book from the website. None of them were mine. It was sad leaving. My ride gave me her # so I can find out say around mid November check in and get a update. I paid her the fee for gas. I asked if she would be able to take me through to the Wendy's drive through. I bought a double baconator combo biggie fries. We said out good buys and take care's, keep in touch in the car. I felt like crying when I got upstairs. I really liked that job but I'm not going to miss the 2 hour commute there. Direct buy was a great experience. They paid me $11 hour but I got an extra $1 hour if I was there for all my shifts and I was. I enjoyed sitting under that tree on 107th reading my book and walking into work. They had free coffee and the Edmonton Journal paper was always there. The staff for the most part were friendly. They used to have it before me where you got 1 month for training, 1 month to get a member then you were on probation. The boss never came around and said something like "Pick it up Jim, you only have 3 pr's if you don't get another 2 by 5pm, we're sending you home." It was never like that. I felt I worked a hard ads possible. I just couldn't cut it in the end. I'm going to miss the job. I'm going to miss the ride home and getting home by 9:30pm. I'll never forget the big storm we had August 6th where the lights in the building went dim and out and we got sent home about 8:30pm. I'm going to miss getting that ride to work Saturday mornings and going into the McDonald's drive through. I miss Direct buy almost as much as I missed Xentel. Now I'm not sure whats going on. I've got 1 cheque coming my last 1 next week and a few days from my downtown job next Friday. I'm going to apply where my wife works just to get some pick up hours until my downtown begins. In the meantime I'm going to apply at a day advertising job next week at a place I don't care about. It's near the Shaw conference centre. It pays really well but I'd be under enormous pressure. I just need 3 days to help pay for my computer parts. Ok, that that was Direct  buy, July/ August 2014. Lets move forward.

I'm strongly thinking instead of the iMac, which is way out of reach for me price wise, is to upgrade my Current pc:

Its a 2005 HP media pc in a mATX case. It's running Win Xp and has usb 2. It's almost 10 years old and when I bought it it came with 256 Ram and a 68Gb hard drive. I upgraded it to 1 gb of Ram about 5 years ago. All I need is a decent motherboard the cpu 2.5 Ghz +, 16 Gb of Ram, a 4Tb hard drive, the power supply and Windows 8. I can get a system similar to the above for about $800 but I'm not going to be able to save that kind of money. I'd rather just get the parts and let where I'm buying them from do it for me. I'm just researching right now. I know I want AMD over Intel. I'm not using it for gaming. It's just being used for music production and every day needs. I've got enough time to do this. Anyway, that's all for now.

Its been a rough couple of days on the job front

lately. Things haven't been going to well with my downtown job and not much better in my West end job. My West end  job could be ending on Friday but my downtown job is holding.

The world seems captivated by this ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) Ice Bucket Challenge. Local political figures and people from all walks of life are raising funds for ALS. Is it actually raising awareness of ALS or is it just chance for another photo op opportunity, or just another fad? It's raising a lot of money as well.

I'm back to the upgrading my current case/pc idea again. All I need is just the motherboard, cpu, ram, hard drive and a better power supply. I can get it all done for about $700. I only need 16Gb of Ram maybe even 8Gb. The real feature of the upgrade will be the 4Tb internal hard drive.

While at work this afternoon I read in the Journal that a Chinese group is going to be building 2 condo towers. One is a 38 story condo, the other (on the same property) is a 26 story one. However the big news yesterday is The Stantec tower. Its going to be across from the new downtown arena and is going to be 62 stories tall! Wow, now that's a sky scrapper. The Stantec building will be 224 metres high, nearly as tall as Calgary's 237-metre Bow Tower. Construction on the Stantec Tower starts this fall with completion by the summer of 2018. Anyway, that's all for now.

The plan for today was to go

downtown for a follow up with my Doctor. Anne says I should be more concerned with seeing my pcn worker about the medical benefit appeal process. The pcn worker is back next week. I think that's a higher priority anyway. I was also going to get my haircut before my Doctor's appointment and get a bite to eat at City Centre mall, and head into work from there. Anne's plan is better. Besides I can sleep in for a bit longer. Other then that, I'm out of here at 4pm today for day 2 of my 2 day part time evening job. This week could be my last day at my day job. I thought I was supposed to get 3 months. Next time I see the boss, I'm going to ask about that. If he sites something else, then if I don't get a member between now and Tuesday, I'm just going to piss around during my last 3 days. If Friday I get the heave ho, then I'm going to make adjustments to my part time job. If not and I get another month, great.

It was announced in the news last night that Burger King is going to buy Tim Horton's. It shouldn't mean store closures or our local Bk across the street will get Tim Horton's menu as part of their drive through. It could be good for Tim's allowing it to expand its brand in the over 32 countries and BK gets a tax shelter. I doubt I'll be able to order a burger and fries at Corona station Tim's. If the merger goes through it'll mean this deal will make it the 3rd fast food chain closing in on Wendy's and McDonald's.

There was another place I wanted try out but its in the NW end of the city and the commute is as long as my day/evening job. A lot of my old Xentel colleagues are there. Before I get on with that place I want to wait until the Nait (Metro) lrt line comes online at the end of this year. That way all I do is get the bus to Clareview in the morning and then the lrt to Corona and wait for the Northbound Metro to the Royal Alex hospital transit station and the #12 from there. It's a lot easier then that long #12 from downtown. I don't have to stand in the cold for 20 minutes waiting for the bus either. This other job days so I can work my evening job 3 days/week and have the weekends off. That's my "plan b" if my last day at the other place is Friday. if that's the case then I'm just going to work my evening job this winter and have Sunday's off. We'll see as for today, I'm out of here shortly before 4pm for downtown get my book at Audrey's and head into work. Anyway, that's all for now.

My driver is picking me up

this morning about 8:40am as it's just the 2 of us on our way into McDonald's and then into the office. The other lady wont be with us this morning. Tomorrow I'm up at 10 am and out the door by 11am for 12-8pm. Sunday is going to be a long day. Monday is only 4 hours.

Weather wise we're at +5 this morning. Expecting +18 under mostly sunny skies. Great day for a cfl Eskimo football game. Weather should be good.

I was thinking about heading out to Memory Express (West) today after work but I think I'm going to wait until next Saturday and get the cpu/motherboard in one go. Next weekend is the long weekend and I might not have a job to go out to next weekend anyway, except my market research job. So next Saturday could be my best opportunity to go out there on the short bus from Northgate. Anyway, that's about all for now.

The world owes me absolutely

nothing. That's my family, my wife, my colleagues my lodge etc. I'm fortunate to have Facebook that lets me connect to my family. They have busy lives. We all do. I love my brothers and sister. We might not be able to face to face with each other but they are always in my heart and prayers. I always think of them in a positive way. I don't expect anything from anyone, anymore then they expect from me, which is why I removed when my birthday date on Facebook sometime ago. Last thing I want is all my friends and brothers and sister is to acknowledge my birthday every year. It means I have to reciprocate. When I'm on their Facebook page I try to send birthday greetings etc. One of my brothers has been dead for sometime and one of my brothers doesn't use social media, my sister barely. That just leaves Jeff and me.

Moving forward. I caught my #137 bus at Northgate to specifically get out at 170 and 107 street for lunch at Harvey's. I had a double bacon and cheese burger combo. It was ok. I walked to work from there.

My shift yesterday wasn't the greatest. I have 7 days left. By this time next Friday I'll have a better idea if next Saturday is my last day or do I continue with this job. If not, at least I have my market research job and I'm in all day this coming up Sunday and Monday night. The idea was to work my day job 3-9 Tuesday-Friday and Saturday 9:30-1:30 and bus it from wem downtown work 3 hours Saturday and work all day Sunday and Monday night. That didn't materialize until this weekend. Except Saturday. If the 3-9 job doesn't work out, then at least I have the other job 5-9 Tuesday-Friday, Saturday afternoon 2-6 and all day Sunday and Monday off. That's 55 hours in a 2 week period. Good enough and I wont have to travel so much to the West end. Either way I'm ok with it 3-9 or 5-9. West end or downtown. Anyway, that's all for now.

While waiting for my Northgate bus

this stranger asked if that was a Northgate bus that went by. He said he had cataracts and couldn't see very well. We struck up a conversation. I think he said his name was Joseph. I told him about my experience with cataracts and we learned we're the same age. It was a nice conversation to Northgate. He was diabetic as well and we even share the same Doctor. He mentioned how at Nait if I put my name on the waiting list, they'll extract my teeth out and provide me with dentures for free. I remember something about that but these are students but they have Doctors watching over them. The waiting list takes up to about a year.

Intoday's journal they had a "This day in Edmonton" feature for August 20th 1967 and the Summer of love. It was Edmonton's first ever "love in" This was at Coronation park and they had this Vancouver band there, "The family dogs." I was 15 that summer living in Vancouver. I wasn't old enough to be a hippie. The journal article brought back some memories.

I think what I'm going to do with my birthday money is to get that computer case at memory express after work and hang around and see if Theresa can pick me up at 5pm. I was trying to work on that track and my system couldn't keep up before it crashed. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Our weather is much more

pleasant  then the +28- +29's we've been struggling with last week. At least its good for sleeping. We're getting temperatures of +18, +20. Next week, +21's and +23's that sort of thing. I like Summer weather to be +18-+24 anywhere in there works for me.

I called Anne on my 6:45pm break at work last night to check our mail. She said it's good news bad news. Uh-oh. Good news is Anne's sister Donna sent me a card and a nice surprise. Since Donna is out of the country I sent her a instant message thanking her. We'll face time her on Sunday. The bad news is I got turned down because of my 2013 income. It said combined income was cause of rejection but the income was not supposed to be combined. It was just for mine only. I knew something was up when I filled out the form a few months ago. My pcn worker said for me to call her within days of receiving any news. The letter said I have a 30 day appeal window but my pcn worker wont be back until September 2nd, which is on a Tuesday. I called my Doctor and set up a follow up appointment for next Monday. The appeal date window is from the time dated on the letter and 30 days from that date. Which should be September 23rd. If we're looking at just business days. The Alberta Government has all my financial information from the form.

Hearing the news about the benefits package letdown was a shock to the system and I could never recover after that job performance wise. Usually I can get 6-10 "sales" in a 5.5 hour shift but all I could muster was 3 by the end of the night. I feel like I'm fodder there anyway. There's two other telemarketers that work with me. One is their computer/software guy and he shows up maybe 3 days/week. Then there's a lady about my age and 3 others on salary that kind of do the same thing but they actually close the customer in the store and 'convert' them to members. I just send out brochures by email. By this time next week if I haven't got a member (something beyond my control) then I'm pretty much gone. The phone room has about 20 stations but only 2 are occupied by telemarketers like myself. So all these brochures I'm sending out to "qualified people" (no old people) if they don't come into the store, that's not on me. That's on the salary people. I must have sent out since I began about 200 packages since I began and only a small portion of those came into the store. They get a visitors pass with the brochure. Or package. Where I work, they've been around since 1971 and here in Edmonton for the last 15 years. We have no competition. If nobody is doing any renovations or projects then we cant turn them into members. I get no members and I'm out of a job. I knew that going in but the job is easy to do. I just hope I can keep it moving forward into September.

Last night Anne made us some really nice baby back ribs for supper. A bit of a birthday dinner since my 62nd birthday is tomorrow. I had a good sleep over night and now I got to get ready to get out of here.

Anyway I'm about to have my bath a bite to eat and head out of here for my 12:30pm commute to Northgate and catch the #137 to 178th and 107th Ave. it's a long trip. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Monday, August 18, 2014

Last night Anne and I went to the

Horseshoe lounge just over here on 58th street and 137th Ave. It's just a little bar behind KFC there. Its been around for years. We checked it because they had WWE's Summer slam on pay per view. They charge $10/person but they couldn't get the sound working. My mood changed for the better as I was getting into the show. I was in a bad mood mainly because of the heat and I hadn't eaten and the heat of the day. We ordered pizza and pop but enjoyed the show anyway. They finally got the sound on about about 70% into the broadcast. They didn't charge for the show, which was a nice gesture. They had about 50 people. It's actually a nice little bar. The bus isn't that far away to take me home on a Saturday afternoon. I'm glad I went after all and I'll be back next pay per view.

This weekend was kind of a good news bad news type weekend. Saturday morning the boss wants me in for a meeting. He gave me a 2 week notice to pick it up. It's telemarketing, what can I say? The other thing is I won on 3 of my cfl proline games. It's about enough to by a case of beer but at least I'm winning.

I'm looking at getting into the eBook reader business. After doing a bit of research I'm warming up to the 6" Kobo Aura. I'm using it for Warhammer 40k short stories and ebooks. Stuff I can't get at Audrey's.

Tonight is Monday night Raw on the aftermath of last nights show. Looking forward to it. Anyway, that's all for now.

Saturday, August 16, 2014

Friday at work began

slow. I got 1 "sale" just before lunch. It was slow going from after lunch until break but it picked up after break and I ended up with 8 "sales." Sales isn't the right word but its good enough. My personal diary defines what "sales" is

I read in yesterdays Edmonton Journal how Nasa's comet chasing spacecraft "Stardust" had captured dust particles that might have originated outside our solar system. About 30,000 scientists and citizen scientists dubbed "dusters" are examining these fine dust particles since 2009. Findings were published Thursday in the Journal Science. Not to be confused with the Edmonton Journal.

Overnight our local temperature has been +20 and that's what it is now at 8am but it feels like +24. I don't think I've ever seen an August so warm before and with the mosquito population so heavy. Next week it's going to be more comfortable around +18 or so.

It was on this day in 1977 that the "Wow" signal was discovered 37 years ago.

On the way into work this morning, I don't think I'm getting any drive through breakfast. THe ladies are but I just  had a big muffin. Coffee is free at work so I'll get one there. It's a short 4 hours. After work I'll get the #126 bus on 10th Ave/178th street at 1:45pm or so to wem and the express to Corona station and the lrt. I should be home about 3pm. Anyway, that's all for now.

Thursday, August 14, 2014

It was cooler out there for sleeping over night

as I'm working through the week suffering through this heat wave.

How she came across it but Anne found this mosquito repellant called "Derma Guard." One go and it lasts for 6 hours. It works great.

I had my shave, shower and I've got just over an hour to go here before I head out the door. I had a better night on the job then Tuesday. I felt good leaving out of there.

Anne's off today and I'll be calling her on my 4:30pm break. We get a break every 2 hours. makes the day go by faster. Anyway, that's all for now.

Wednesday, August 13, 2014

This summer has got to be the worst one yet

for mosquitoes. The fan I've got going helps to keep them off me, to a point. They're out in full force this summer.

We lost another Hollywood star today: Lauren Bacall. She worked along side Humphrey Bogart in the 40's. She was 89.

I had a slow start on the job and for some reason I got nothing before lunch. Strange. We had 5 telemarketers when I started but lost 3 for personal reasons. Now there's just the 2 of us and my colleague had the same kind of a day I had. The boss didn't say much. Hopefully today will be better. I usually get about 6-10 leads out the door in a 5 hour shift. Even my colleague said this was the worse day she's had since she started. Could be the heat as well.

I read this great story in yesterdays journal about the Marx brothers. They played at the Pantages theatre here in Edmonton in 1913 for 46 weeks at .50 cents a person to sold out crowds every night. About 10 years before they hit it big on Broadway and in movies.

We're still trapped in this heat wave with no sign of it slowing down. Anyway, that's all for now.

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

We are in the middle of another heat wave

this week, with +29, +30's all over the place and it brings out the skeeters.

I was in good spirits about 1:30pm heading towards Clareview station. I got to my Doctors office about 2pm but apparently my appointment was for 3:30pm. Uh-oh. It was very warm about +30 so I went to my barber only his shop was closed. No note or anything. Ok. I went over to my part time job's office and put in my availability. I've got Saturday 3-6, Sunday off because of the birthday outing Anne has planned for me then I'm back at it Monday for 4 hours. Normally it's supposed to be Saturday and Sunday but I've got  Monday's as I'm trying to save up for the computer. Once I've got that, I'll go back to just Saturdays and Sundays. After that I went over to Audrey's and picked up my Warhammer 40K "Hunter's moon" cd, since I didn't get the haircut. Then to the Doctor's office building and I got a little ice cream treat. I had about a 40 minute wait. The main attraction for my appointment was to check my blood pressure and it was 132/70 something much to the Doctors surprise. I took the train home and had a bit of supper and watched a great Monday night Raw.

While I never was a fan of Robbin Williams and only remember him vaguely in Mork and Mindy, I was aware of some of his work. He was the same age as me. We lost 2 Hollywood stars this summer: James Garner and Robbin Williams.

That was my day off yesterday. I've got a 10 hour day tomorrow but only 5.5 hours is work. I get the bus about 12:30pm and I have about a half hour wait from 1-1:30pm and about a 40 minute bus ride and a half hour wait on the job site. It's just that the job is across town for me. It's a long day. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Having a good weekend

so far despite a blood sugar crash episode this morning. At this hour I'm back to normal.

Smokey the bear turned 70 yesterday. The character was created in 1944 because of fears that America’s enemies would set forest fires while most U.S. firefighters were in battle overseas. Along with Smokey the bear was a slogan: "Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires." In the original Smokey bear there was no the in between Smokey bear. In 1952, Steve Nelson and Jack Rollins wrote a song in his honor and added a “the” between “Smokey” and “Bear” to keep the rhythm flowing. They should have a contest to update the song maybe more of a hip hop style.

Other then lodge communications not much going on today, which means I can work on my "Hey" track. I have a Doctors appointment tomorrow and I want to get my hair cut. Anyway, that's all for now.

Saturday, August 9, 2014

The new job seems to be

running along ok. Its basic telemarketing but I'm not selling anything. It's easy enough to do and the hours are decent enough.

Sometime this month I'm supposed to know, one way or another, if I'm going to get on this extended medical benefits plan. It's from the Alberta Government and is similar to a company health care plan. It's different then Alberta Health care. It's set up for emergency situations and was strongly recommended in writing by my Doctor. My local PCN feels that there's no reason why I shouldn't be accepted. It even covers my wife as well. My PCN says I should get a card in the mail very soon. Maybe next week sometime. it's mostly to cover my diabetic needs but the plan covers beyond what Alberta Health care would cover. The plan covers my diabetic supplies, vision/optical, and most important right now, dental and dentures. If I get the card this week next time I see my Doctor (Monday) I'm going to ask about my dental and what we can do to get my teeth done. Pending of course when (and if) I get the card in the mail. I might some time off in the hospital until my gums heal but I'd do this about mid September. I'm sure my job will accommodate me. Getting my teeth done has been on my mind for sometime now.

Yesterday I went to Audrey's and picked up my Warhammer 40k book. "There is only war." It's a Warhammer anthology of 42 short stories published last year. I hope it sells well enough to bring out a 2nd volume sometime this year or next.

Also on my commute I read a bit at Campus waiting for the #4 bus and then I had a bit of a wait at wem. ETS had this grey low floor bus. It's an electrical bus. Not a hybrid and apparently its wifi enabled and looks really cool. I'm going to try and see if the fellow I'm meeting with after coffee can drop me off at wem so I can get a photo and try out the new bus. This bus apparently is the only one of it's kind in all the 900+ buses in ETS's fleet of bus.

Prior to when my colleague was living at Westmount my drive home colleague and I would take the Yellowhead and run down 50th. I mentioned to her if she would be able to pull into the Wendy's drive through on my way home as it was on the way. Then I realized as we were heading towards the Canadian tire store off 129th to Fort Road, we were not anywhere near Wendy's. I almost said to cancel because my meeting ride this afternoon can always go to "Harvey's" on 170th there. She said it was no problem. So as we went over the Manning overpass it was just off in the right side lane by Pet Smart (Sparky) and a few minutes South on 50th. I got a Double Baconator and biggie fries for my lunch and watched Smackdown. That way Anne didn't have too cook anything.

I'm out here at 8:30am. One of my colleagues from my lodge said he'd be able to pick me up this morning and said he'd be out here at 8:30am. I emailed him and called so he doesn't swing by here thinking he's going to pick me up. I called him before Anne got in and left a message for him not to pick me up as I wouldn't be attending. I feel bad I can't make it but I need the hours as well. I am however going to meet with the fellow running the meeting after. If there's no snags. He's got the address to where I work and he said he could meet with me after 1:30pm for coffee today and to give me the details as to what happened. Also, if that electric bus is there I can get off at 95th ave/156th street and snap a photo of Sandy lane. I've been wanting to do that since last Octobers fire. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Having a good week so far

and it's just 5.5 hours today and 4 Saturday.

Yesterday we had a massive thunder and lightning storm that lasted from about 8pm. About 8:15 the lights went dim and flickered and the power went off. We got sent home right after that. The rain was so thick on the way home it looked like soup out there. When I got home about 8:50pm the power was still on in our building. Crazy.

The other day former Alberta premier Alison Redford resigned from her riding of Calgary-Elbow. It was her miss use of tax payers dollars that caused her to resign of premier and then more allegations of the same caused her to resign her seat. The Alberta Tories are in damage control mode. They have a leadership race underway and now a bi election soon.

Not much else is going on just working out the week and reading Fulgrim. At the moment, I'm ready for bed. Anyway that's about all for  now.

Canada went into

the 1st world war Aug 5th 1914 100 years ago today. My Grandfather on my mother's side fought at Vimy Ridge. Canada lost 66,665 and the last soldier to die was 3 minutes before his unit learned the war was over. Its something we should never forget.

Despite the rough waters Saturday, the rest of the weekend was good. I learned Saturday before we headed out that I got Federal security clearance to work on a Federal sponsored job, when it starts and if they don't mind me working 2 days/week. We had a nice pizza dinner and I got a banner for my blog. On a scale from 1-5 I'd give it 3.5/5.

After a 10 year journey The European Space Agency's Rosetta spacecraft is about to make a scheduled to rendezvous with Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko on Wednesday (Aug. 6)  If all goes according to plan, Rosetta will on that day become the first probe ever to orbit a comet — and, in November, the first to drop a lander onto the surface of one of these icy wanderers. I wonder how its supposed to attach itself to the comet?

Today I've got to go into the office before my full time job and sign some forms. Then out to Campus station to get the bus to wem and then to work. Apparently there's a small risk of rain but I hope its not on my commute. The rest of the week looks uneventful. Anyway, that's all for now.

Monday, August 4, 2014

My last day of the long

weekend off. other then Saturday, I had a good weekend.

While I'm sure Mitchel Scanlon is a decent writer and has about 10 novels to his credit. "Dark Angles" wasn't working for me. I checked Wikipedia for the Horus Heresy series to see if he has had any other offerings in this series but, no he doesn't. That's when I found out on the wiki page that "Dark Angles" isn't the 5th in the series, it's the 6th. "Fulgrim" is the 5th and it clocks in at 512 pages! I might have this finished by about mid September.

Not much going on for holiday Monday, just relaxing and watching Monday night Raw. Anyway, that's all for now.

It was on this weekend

27 years ago was "black Friday." It was when Edmonton got hit by a F5 tornado that killed 27 people and injured about 300 people. It was the first F5 tornado in Canadian history. A YouTube search of Edmonton tornado, will provide some video of the event.

The Edmonton downtown arena project is coming along nicely. They are pouring concrete and moving forward n the projects development. There seems to be some activity today. By this time next year the Metro line lrt station wont be visible.

Yesterday we boarded the train to the University and got our bus to Royal pizza. I brought pop with me. Anne brought the little Rush Phillips player she bought me in 2006. I think the pizza outing was a pretext for her to go the store "No Frills" in the same shopping centre complex but while waiting for her and our pizza they had the "big screen" TV on with the Riders/Red blacks CFL game on. In the first quarter the score was something like 17-0 Riders. I had ice cream on my mind after the pizza but the waitress didn't know where a Dairy Queen was. After pizza we worked our way across the parking lot area and to the corner of 104/82nd. The press of people way too many. Then I realized: "Heritage days." Then Anne pointed across across the street on the corner "Dairy Queen." I'm surprised I didn't see it but our bus was coming and I just wanted to get out of this heat and home. At various points of the outing due to the heat our patience with each other was causing some stress between us. Anne had her music player on in the train there and back and I couldn't talk to her during the whole trip "I can hear you", she's raising her voice a couple of decibels louder above the music talking about my personal life, my job by name and my medical issues in around a lot of people. Sure they're not listening but it makes me feel uncomfortable. That was pissing me off. We're ok now but throughout the whole experience yesterday, I realized it was just the heat of the day. Anne blew up at me again before bed but apologized. I don't do Summer heat very well. I prefer winter -18-+18. Anywhere in there is ok by me. At the moment its +25 but feels like +31. That's a bit more bearable. I like Summer and the odd hot day I can tolerate but not for days on end.

Out of the whole day yesterday I was able to have Anne take a couple of really nice photos of me in my Esks CFL hat, wearing my green and gold. I'm using that for my blog as I'm updating it yet again. Not much going on for today just trying to enjoy the weekend. Anyway, that's all for now.

Anne and I both have 3 days off

together. She wants to go out for Pizza on the South side this afternoon where I'd rather just stay home. Last time we were out anywhere was I think in April. Our only day for this is today because as far as I know the LRT is shut down Sunday and Monday and its going to be a hot one today but I had a good 9 hours sleep, so lets go.

Its not like I don't want a image for the new book I'm reading but Google wont let me. I can't even add a gadget today. I think they are doing maintenance but keeping running lights on. That's why I'm even able to post today but yes I finished reading "The Flight of the Eisenstein." Now I'm reading book 5 of the Horus Heresy series: "Fulgrum." I hope to have it read by the end of the labour day weekend, so hopefully Google will have their issues resolved this weekend and I can get my new read graphic up.

My wife says I got a call from the other job something about forms. I called the other office and my security clearance came through ok. I don't know when we start but my current job my 3-9 is my bread and butter job. The part time one is something for weekend pocket money, and music production gear since I don't want to give up either job. I would have been working this weekend but I failed to put in my availability. I need to go in for Tuesday to fill out the forms for Victoria. The part time job is basically Saturday afternoons from 3-6 and Sunday 12-8. Until I get funds saved for my iMac I'm including Monday nights in there as well. Anyway, that's about all for today.

I might not get

paid for the long weekend because I haven't worked the 30 shifts yet  to qualify but I'm ok with that. I get 3 days off, to sleep in and relax and that's just as important to me.

On my $2 CFL proline ticket my first game was Winnipeg at Hamilton. Winnipeg to win. They were ahead up until the half. Then T-cats came out of nowhere half an hour before home time late in the 4th and the game had 30 seconds on the clock. When I got home the finale was Winnipeg 27/26. They won alright, but it was a proline tie and I needed the Bombers to have 3 more points then that. A field goal would have done it to keep my ticket alive. In other words they won I lost. With 2 games on for tonight  and one on Saturday I might just get another ticket  There's a little snack bar at the Northgate ETS station but I didn't see any lottery stand. My only chance to get another ticket is at Clareview.

I had a decent sleep this morning though. No sugar crash episodes as in yesterday.  I've got about an hour before I head out for the day.

I'm still getting used to my new commute. It's a bus to Northgate about a half hour wait and then the #137 into work. It's a lot better then bus to Clareview, train to Campus, wait bus to wem wait and bus to work. As for this morning,m its time to check my email and then get ready to head head out on the day. Anyway, that's all for now.
