Its over at the other job

tomorrow 4:15-8:30pm. The other job isn't as involved as my primary job but it grantees work for me when my main job has down times.

When I woke up this morning, I missed my alarm.  Nine am, shit! I called Super saying I could be late. I had to scramble to; feed the cats, pack my lunch, get my cola for the day, some change for later, dress and head out the door for the 9:20 bus. After a brief wait I was out there in the bus shelter under a grey snow/rain mix of ugly weather. However I made good timing.

I usually loiter about where that grey box is by the curb waiting for my bus coming right of this photo. The image above is just West of 100th and Jasper. Would there be time to grab a coffee at the Subway at the end of the block? There was nobody in line and I got a small coffee, no cream/sugar and a chocolate chip cookie to munch on my way into the office. I was 20 minutes late. I missed half an hour but that's not too bad.

At least it was nice enough outside at 6pm, and for a change my commute home was still in daylight. I was tired when I got home but still felt good that the day was over. Anyway, that's all for now.

My commute yesterday afternoon

began fine and well without a hiccup. We're trying a bit of an experiment until I turn 65 (1.5 years away) its a bit risky. I'm using a seniors monthly transit pass. Anne bought it at the 7-11. A seniors pass is $15/month, or $125/year and unlike a adult pass, a senior bus pass can be bought for the whole year. I'm considered (in my mind) a senior because I'm on cpp, but I don't look the part either. Even when I turn 65, which isn't that far out, I'm not going to look much different then I am now. I remember at the age of 25 I was still being asked for I.D in the bar. If I wasn't so low income, we wouldn't risk using a senors pass because if I'm caught its a hefty fine. A adult bus pass is almost $100/month. The City of Edmonton is looking into a low income transit pass but by the time that gets approved, I'll be 65. It might help my wife out. If this is approved It'll be based on ones letter of assessment after tax time and would be a huge income relief off of the shoulders of low income transit riders like myself. Most likely it will be based on ones household income. Lrt security never showed up on the train to check for tickets. I don't like a commute like this but its going to save us a lot of money. Its called fare dodging. Bus drivers don't usually care and don't challenge, as long as the transit rider has paid the fare or has a transfer or bus pass at the time of boarding. At Rexall I was surprised to see a hoard of people at the #5, wtf? I was lucky to get a seat on the #5 bus at Central station as it was standing room only from Central to where I needed to get off at 109th and 124th street.

I have about half a block to the job site from the bus stop and I noticed a for "sale sign,"pending, on the property. Now what? I was received ok and there was quite a gathering. There were introductions by the team leader's stand in, and initial paper work to fill out. The Director confirmed that even though Dave and Verne were not there, they will be tonight. Dave has been on oas for about a year now. I need to compare my seniors monthly transit pass with Dave's transit pass. If there's no difference, then I might be ok. I need to know if there is a difference between a seniors buss pass and a seniors monthly pass. I'm sure there is. A senior aged 65 can buy a seniors monthly pass before a April 1st. They are non transferable. I'll be 65 in 2017. Apparently the building is up for sale and the higher ups have shortlisted two locations. Its hoped that because most people take the bus that the 2 short listed locations will be centrally located and not in a industrial park or out in the boonies. We'll know when before this project is over May 15th. After we did orientation and break at the last 45 minutes on the shift, I managed to do some cold calling. New people were being trained. I booked off a bit early as before we'd break off at 8:20pm so people could catch their bus. Most likely that's because the team leader wasn't there that likes to book off early.

I had to scramble out the door as after looking both ways I crossed the street. 124th & 109th were not that busy that time of night. I got to about half way to my bus shelter as I did a shoulder check and there was the #5 bus fast approaching behind me. I was hobbling away but the bus waited for me. Otherwise if I missed this one I'd be waiting another 20 minutes. I'm thinking about taking the #5 back the other way to Westmount and then doubling back, which would take me to about the 9:25 bus from my other job. I don't mind in the Spring but in the winter, that's a long wait. I wasn't challenged on the #5 to Corona station and lrt security was non existent. I was kind of hoping they would be there to see if I can pass the at look. They just want to see the bus pass/transfer/tickets in hand. So, I'm out of here at 3pm, hopefully without any complications there and back. Anyway, that's all for now.

I barely caught that

#5 bus at Central if not for the lady that caught the bus drivers attention just as the bus front right wheel was about a foot away from the curb waiting on a red light that just turned red. The driver said by rights he didn't have to open the door to let us on. I would have been late other wise, thanks lady. Thanks for nothing scumbag bus driver

I met one of my colleagues that rode in beside me to work. It was a beautiful sunny day and about +6 heading in. All in all I had a great night on the new project.

Today I'm up about 8am for a bit of breakfast and out the door at 9am for the job. I'm back to more consistent hours on the job and about to get busy. I'm in from 10-6pm today and off Sunday but out of here to lodge for a practice. Then home. All next week I'm 4-9:30pm. So in other words I'm going to be busy. I'm about to post this and shut it down as I want to read for a bit, and listen to Coast open lines. I'm up at 8am and out the door at 9am for 10am. Anyway, that's all for now.

Wednesday was a perfect winter day out there and being inside most of the time I hardly noticed it at

all. I spent 5 minutes waiting for my bus to Clareview and on the train to Central. I had a brief wait inside upstairs at Central station until my #5 bus came by. I got my seat and headed into work under overcast skies. My footwear of choice were my running shoes. At work the boss says if we hit out goal and we're closing in on it, we're going to have a pizza party on the 13th. My colleague forgot to bring me that book but I did some research on the asb program and found out some of what I need to know.

It looks like McDavid is days away from rejoining the team. It would have been fun to watch him at the All star break. With 37 points the Oilers are 2 wins away from sharing the last play off spot. However, there are 6 other teams in the bottle neck. The Oilers are in last place they can get to that last play off spot with 2 wins. With 7 games left until the All Star break 5 of them are on the road. The All star break is the home stretch towards the play offs. If McDavid can remain healthy and the Oilers go on a winning streak, who knows the Oilers could wind up 4th or 5th this year.

I had a slow day on the job but where we are with 3 weeks away I don't care. Chances are good I'll be back in mid February anyway. I reminded my super that I'd be in on Monday, as my availability states. As I left the office it had snowed during my shift and there must have been about 2 inches of snow on the ground. My commute home was basic, just the way I like it and hardly cold at all. I got home about 9:30pm. I'm off today as its Lodge night and we got balloting. Anyway, that's all for now.

Sleep was not very good to me over night only because

I was worried about my pcn appointment this morning. I got 2 reminder calls from them on a Saturday night and I was getting a bit annoyed, with 2 back to back calls. Anne said I was supposed to say accept. So I emailed my pharmacist saying I'll be there for my 10:15, and called pcn when I got out of bed about 8am to confirm my appointment. I was still good to go. I left out of here about 8:40am for Northgate under a nice pc sunrise, and headed to Tim's to get some breakfast. I settled on my usual breakfast sausage sandwich combo. No problems. I enjoyed my breakfast, kept my appointment and got enough insulin to last me until the end of February. I had a lengthy wait for my bus only because a snow blizzard developed. It tapered off on my commute home, and now the Sun is breaking through cloud. My afternoon commute looks good. When I got home I went to bed for an hour or so and rested. I didn't get any real sleep but I'm ok and no worse for wear.

Last night the Oilers won in Boston in OT. That's 6 consecutive wins. With that win the Oilers are right in the mix for that last playoff spot. There's a lot of hockey between now and the last game of the regular season in early April. The Oiler's are doing all of this without McDavid.

At the office Christmas party last night, super announced we're going to go until December 23rd. My other boss called while I was out. Anne said I'm good to go for at least Thursday, and Friday but to call first Thursday just in case. By then I'll have at least 3 days in at my other job and I'll have Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, which is the 23rd. I'll have work, and still about 12 days off. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Not that working on the

weekends is a bad thing. It has its ups and downs. Morning commutes are a challenge because out here in Clareview the bus to the LRT ("Clareview station") runs about every half hour. My shift is at 10am on 124th street/107th ave, and if I leave out of here to catch my bus to Clareview station too early I have about half an hour to waste downtown. If I leave out of here at 9am, I'll be late. If I arrive at work at 10:15 this morning for a 10am start, I'll get written up, but I can always forfeit a 15 minute break to make up the difference. I leave at 8:30 and I'm downtown at around 9am nothing is open. I'm going to dread that for the next several years until pension. The good part about Saturday and Sunday shift is I get a full 7.5 hour shift. That's 15 hours in 2 days. Not the best but in a job where I need the hours, that's 30 hours on a cheque. Most likely I'll leave out of here at 9am. I'll leave a voice mail message before I leave saying I'll be late. Anne gave me a melatonin pill, which helped me get a few hours sleep over night. I'm ready to go and no worse for wear. Once the mornings are done, a weekend shift is just like a afternoon shift. I'll get in at about 7:10am, while Anne has our late brunch (breaky) cooking for me.

Rogers Place arena seems to be on pace to open for the 2016/17 season. There's a link on my sidebar list of links that reads "Downtown arena webcam." They've added a rink view. You can watch workers adding in the support structures for the seats on the South side of the rink area. They haven't got the seat structure for the North side in place yet but I'm sure they'll have everything in place to open for next September. The surrounding buildings in the Ice district are under construction. The hotel infrastructure is well underway and the City of Edmonton and Stantec tower is well under way as well.

The other thing is my first job breaks on the 11th of this month until January. When, I'm not sure. My other job could be breaking for the holidays on the 19th. I'll be able to cover my bills but that's about it. The good news is I'll have about 2 weeks off and I can work on that memory work for the lodge. I'm doing the oral exam for one of our members that took his Master Mason degree. Its public speaking. I've done this before much to our lodge masters confidence in me to do it again. Also, I'll be able to work on that beat, watch some Oiler games and stay up late and sleep in late. Anyway, that's all for now.

Its a beautiful

sunny day with a high temperature forecast of about 16. Sun usually sets by 6:45pm this time of year. Daylight savings is 11 days away, right after Halloween.

If these are true, there are already a few things I'm not liking about our new Federal Government: I'm hearing that Trudeau wants to end our bombing missions in Syria and Iraq. Not good. Sure, its only a few jet fighters but its doing our part in bombing the terrorists. The other thing I don't like is hearing about a National carbon tax (carbon pricing). I wouldn't mind a carbon pricing tax if its revenue neutral like the gst. Its a plan that is up to individual Provinces but at the same time he's saying he wants to develop pipelines (Trans alta) and growth in the oilsands.

If only my afternoon commute was as easy as my evening commute. Last night I left the office at about 9:35pm and home by 10:30pm. And that was even while the #5 stops at a few places along Jasper Ave for a few minutes. Anyway I'm in from 1:30-9:30pm. That's 7.5 and a half hour unpaid break and x2 10 minute breaks which are paid for. Anyway, that's all for now.

Our so called

transportation department decided to shut the Capital line down from Clareview to Corona station from 9am-noon. This is not uncommon. ETS put replacement buses instead of the off line lrt. In the meantime one of the biggest events of the city was getting ready for the "Run for the Cure" breast cancer. It took me ten minutes to get out of the downtown cor. I wasn't late or anything but why ETS could not have done this 3 hour job from 4-7 am? Not that I have any interest in the above mentioned event, but its just another one of those events the city knew about, but thought their work was more important. It was no hardship for me as I was out there at 820am yesterday. It took me an hour and a half to to get from Clareview to 124th street and 107th Ave.

Leaving yesterday at 6pm there was my #5 bus heading downtown. A colleague and I had to wait half an hour for the next #5. Fortunately for me he had a cell phone and he placed a call for me to Anne. I said I was on my way. I got to Clareview at 7:15pm. I called Anne and said she was just starting brunch. I didn't get into the door until about 7:40pm.

Back in 2007 our transportation department spent 3 years before that to investigate a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) model. That "study" and the dollars attached to that was axed. The City at the time thought they'd have to remove some houses and businesses along some routes and didn't think it was ost effective at the time. Fast forward to 2015 city council is now re opening the BRT option. By the time the city has a BRT to the West end for example, that portion of the Valley line will be operational and tens of thousands of more dollars spent and wasted. I'm not saying a BRT is a bad idea I'd love a 1 stop bus from here to downtown. I'd take that over the lrt any day. I'd just like to see the city do something instead of study after study.

I'm leaving out of here again for work in about a hour. The only thing I've got on my agenda this week is work and a day off on Thursday to watch the Oiler's season opener. I get 2 days off over Thanksgiving weekend. Anyway, that's all for now.

I sat on the train at Clareview for about 10 minutes before it

left the station Saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny day. At Tim's they screwed up my order and I was late for work. I was 10 minutes late and I got written up for it. Later on though I was told I can work a bit extra to make up for the lost 15 minutes. It was a real struggle with this cold virus but I had a great afternoon work wise until the shift ended at 3:15pm.

Super said if I'm needed for Monday he'd call me before he left the office Saturday. On my commute home I was pissed off with the day but felt better on my Clareview train for home. The lrt conductor said there was a pedestrian accident of some kind up ahead and that the train I was on was being headed back to Century park (end of the line) Sigh, ok then. However, at Stadium they said everything is ok to continue on to Clareview. I got home to watch the last 8 minutes of what looked like a BC over the Esks win. In dramatic fashion the Esks came back from behind to post a 6 point lead for the W.

Coast is going to have a great show overnight with George Knapp. Tonight they are going to be talking about Bigfoot, and UFO's. The Blood moon eclipse will commence in 17 hours from the time I post this. Last night on Coast they were talking about UFO disclosure. On the call in portion lots of callers had their theories what would trigger disclosure. If UFO disclosure happens, I feel its going to come from several sources: One source would be Chinese hackers as they've penetrated military security before. The other one would be the group Anonymous.

With this cold, Anne wants me home today. If there is no work or I set it up that way, then I'll go to lodge Thursday. Even if I get hired on at another job, I'll ask to start Monday. I got a call from the office that came in when I was on my way home. The super said if I miss the call, just call the boss to confirm for Monday. It looks like I got work Monday. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Having five days off is a blessing and I'm going to

take advantage of it. I won't get paid for Friday but that's ok. If I last beyond the week, I'm doing something right.

My commute Wednesday included a pit stop to buy a lottery at the Redi mart at Clareview. At $35M, I couldn't resist. The snow storm was wet snow and I was at Corona Tim's at 3:20pm having a coffee and a double chocolate donut. I had a wait in the bus shelter by BP's, and I caught what I thought was the #5 but when it did a familiar detour off of 124th street facing West on 102nd Ave, I had a funny feeling I was on the wrong bus. I had a wait at the bus stop and my #5 came along and I was at work but I thought I was supposed to be in at 4:00pm. I thought training was at 4pm and the shift was 4:30pm-9pm. It's actually from 4-9:30pm. I wasn't alone, I was told the shift was from 4:30-9:30pm. I can site the snow storm and being new on the job. Not good for my first day on the job. I made up for it performance wise. Its not often with these kinds of jobs the company provides for a 15 minute break. The 9:40pm bus came in on time as well and I got to Corona station for a Clareview train about 5 minutes before 10pm. I got off that train at Bay station to meet Anne and home.

Yesterday about 85,000 Alberta temporary foreign workers or tfw's received their deportation orders from Ottawa. I feel badly for a lot of these tfw's. Many of them want to live here but they need to work in Canada for 2 years and then reapply for later. Its got nothing to do with the economy or anything, it's just part of the overall immigration process. Its bad news for them but at the same time, it's bad for a lot of employers that depend on these workers. At the same time a lot of employers abuse the tfw system. Its good for us here in Alberta because the vacancy's provide work for people..

I'm out of here about 2:20pm for Northgate pcn to get my insulin. Then Coles to get my Warhammer 40k Omnibus book that Audrey's couldn't order for me. After that its over to Wendy's for a bite to eat. The #11 bus at the other end of the mall from Wendy's will drop me off in front of my place. From there its clean up and head for Lodge. Anyway, that's all for now.

I had a great night last night on the

job but my blood sugar was dropping. I'm on the busy Corona station platform waiting for my train 9pm Clareview train home. It was pact as usual. All the University students At that time of night as Track 2 Clareview always has more passengers then track 1 Century Park heading South. I was lucky to find a window seat so I could doze off here and there.

I'm waiting on the 129 Northgate bus to clear out of Clareview nodding off here and there. There's that character standing at the front of the bus driver again. I pull the cord for my usual stop request. And a "Sorry." What? That character distracted the driver past my stop by about 100 feet. He let out about half a dozen of us onto windrows walking back to the lights. I was pissed off. So much so that I made a rare complaint to ETS complaint line and explained to the operator what had just happened. The bus driver is a  nice guy and all but its that distracted driving. The complaint line lady said this was something worth complaining about and asked if that was a ETS off duty driver standing there talking to the driver? I didn't know but he didn't look like that to me. If it was, the off duty guy should have known better. I wont be on that bus tonight but she took down my false name and my phone number and will put the complaint forward. Around mid December before I got off at my usual stop, I yelled out: "Thanks for distracting the driver bitch." I told that story to the complaint line operator. If the bus driver had not missed my stop obviously I would have never any reason to make a complaint.

We have management coming in for a annual inspection of the premisses in the morning (we hope) If not by 1pm if they are not here, one of us should remain behind to go to Southgate Apple store to get our replacement iPad. Most likely that'll be me, because Anne needs to work this afternoon. "I have a day off." If I'm successful with the iPod I might just go to Bo Didlies across the street for a cold one. Although I'm having this craving for a shot of Sambucca. We'll see. Anyway, that's all for now.

The world owes me absolutely

nothing. That's my family, my wife, my colleagues my lodge etc. I'm fortunate to have Facebook that lets me connect to my family. They have busy lives. We all do. I love my brothers and sister. We might not be able to face to face with each other but they are always in my heart and prayers. I always think of them in a positive way. I don't expect anything from anyone, anymore then they expect from me, which is why I removed when my birthday date on Facebook sometime ago. Last thing I want is all my friends and brothers and sister is to acknowledge my birthday every year. It means I have to reciprocate. When I'm on their Facebook page I try to send birthday greetings etc. One of my brothers has been dead for sometime and one of my brothers doesn't use social media, my sister barely. That just leaves Jeff and me.

Moving forward. I caught my #137 bus at Northgate to specifically get out at 170 and 107 street for lunch at Harvey's. I had a double bacon and cheese burger combo. It was ok. I walked to work from there.

My shift yesterday wasn't the greatest. I have 7 days left. By this time next Friday I'll have a better idea if next Saturday is my last day or do I continue with this job. If not, at least I have my market research job and I'm in all day this coming up Sunday and Monday night. The idea was to work my day job 3-9 Tuesday-Friday and Saturday 9:30-1:30 and bus it from wem downtown work 3 hours Saturday and work all day Sunday and Monday night. That didn't materialize until this weekend. Except Saturday. If the 3-9 job doesn't work out, then at least I have the other job 5-9 Tuesday-Friday, Saturday afternoon 2-6 and all day Sunday and Monday off. That's 55 hours in a 2 week period. Good enough and I wont have to travel so much to the West end. Either way I'm ok with it 3-9 or 5-9. West end or downtown. Anyway, that's all for now.

While waiting for my Northgate bus

this stranger asked if that was a Northgate bus that went by. He said he had cataracts and couldn't see very well. We struck up a conversation. I think he said his name was Joseph. I told him about my experience with cataracts and we learned we're the same age. It was a nice conversation to Northgate. He was diabetic as well and we even share the same Doctor. He mentioned how at Nait if I put my name on the waiting list, they'll extract my teeth out and provide me with dentures for free. I remember something about that but these are students but they have Doctors watching over them. The waiting list takes up to about a year.

Intoday's journal they had a "This day in Edmonton" feature for August 20th 1967 and the Summer of love. It was Edmonton's first ever "love in" This was at Coronation park and they had this Vancouver band there, "The family dogs." I was 15 that summer living in Vancouver. I wasn't old enough to be a hippie. The journal article brought back some memories.

I think what I'm going to do with my birthday money is to get that computer case at memory express after work and hang around and see if Theresa can pick me up at 5pm. I was trying to work on that track and my system couldn't keep up before it crashed. Anyway, that's about all for now.

The condo king otherwise

known as Brad Lamb, in a Edmonton Journal front page story talked about Jasper House. This is a planned 36 story condo in downtown Edmonton. If it's built (depends on how pre sales go) is going to be taller then The Pearl. Jasper House might be built between Jasper Ave and 102nd Ave on the same side of the street as Boston Pizza. I say "might" because anything could happen in this economy. Also, a  block North on 106th & 103rd Lamb is planning a 40 story tower almost after Jasper House is built. Jasper House has been designed by Toronto architecture studio Architects Alliance. Also, developer Stantec wants to build a office tower its a very exciting time right now for Edmonton.

I got my train to Corona and my Eagles book at Audrey's and then to yes I know, Campus. The #4 bus this time instead of it being packed had about 10 riders. This was at 1pm and might be a better way to go after all. I'm going to try for this again later this afternoon.

I got my cfl picks; Calgary/Edmonton to tie, Winnipeg/BC tie, and Ottawa/Hamilton tie. If all 3 come in as tie games, I could win $88! Not bad on a $2 bet but its a long shot. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Everybody has seen them and lots of

people have them. I'm talking about tattoos. Tattoos have been around since Neolithic times. I don't have a problem with tattoos on men. Women with tattoos look ugly and there's nothing that turns me off more then a pretty woman and she has a tattoo, uggh. Women wearing tattoos is a feminist thing, I get that but sorry ladies. It doesn't do anything for me. I find tattoos gross on women. During the 70's, 80's possibly as late as the 1990's even, not many women wore tattoos. It was only recently did women begin to wear them. Now children even wear them and I think they wear them as a symbol of "I have a tattoo, look how tough I am. You want to bully me?" Type thing. I wouldn't wear a tattoo because I'm diabetic. Tattoos, don't like them.

I'm not much into video games but when I get my iMac this year, I'm going to get Diablo 3. I like games like this I bought the "original" Diablo Spawn, I think 1998, something like that. I "lost" my little DS I bought last April but that's another story. When i get my iMac, Diablo 3 is going to be one of the first video games I'm buying.

Normally the 1st weekend in August is a stat holiday but it's either in lieu of something. Its mostly a holiday for civic and bank employees. Imagine my surprise when I learned that we're taking this stat holiday off I get Saturday August 2nd, 3rd & 4th off but not with pay.

My usual commute goes something like this: Catch a bus to Clareview, the lrt to Campus station. From there take the #4 to wem and from there the #137 after about a 40 minute wait between Campus and wem. That's 4 buses and trains. I asked the driver of the #137 if he just goes between wem and Northgate. That's all. So I thought maybe if I get a bus to Northgate and the #137, I avoid a crowded lrt to Campus and cut out 2 buses to work. So, today, its a bus to Clareview and I'm stopping off at Clareview (just for today) to get my proline cfl picks. Then a Northgate bus to get the #137 and into work. Sweet. Anyway, that's all for now.

When I'm at Campus

station on my afternoon commute waiting for that #4, I need to be there ready to board because there's about half a doz people ready to board ahead of me and behind me. That bus at 1:45pm to wem is loaded. From wem to the job is ok and from Clareview to Campus is ok. It's just that link from Campus to wem that's crowded. I get a ride home, so I avoid that headache.

I didn't sleep very well over night and I think having that 7pm coffee last night had something to do with it.

This afternoon I'm trying to figure out my CFL weekend picks. There's 2 games Friday and Saturday. It's a stupid schedule because there's no Sunday games. I'm only picking 3 games. First up Friday night is Winnipeg at winless Montreal. That's a tough call. The Al's need to show up especially at home. Winnipeg is strong. The RB's are coming to town facing the Esks and they're a strong team. I can see 2 tie games there and the Saturday game is Calgary/Argo's. That's a "sure" Argo win. Nothing is "sure" in sports betting.

We don't have voice mail so we enjoy the call history feature on our TV. As soon as the phone rings we see the # flash on the upper left hand corner of our TV. I was away from my phone just now when composing this and a call came in from New York. I don't know anyone in New York. I get these email junk notices from some weird name saying something like, "I tried to call you, I hope your ok.." type thing. Scamers. I answer the phone and its silent on the other end. Or we get these weird numbers from India saying we have problems our internet connection or computer. My response is. I don't have a computer. They hang up right away. I'm almost at the point where I don't want a home computer other then to do music production. I don't need to be online for that. I can get everything done from a smartphone.

In about an hour I'll be making my CFL weekend picks at the Redi mart. I have about a 15 minute wait for my #4 at
Campus to read more of my Horus Heresy book and in at the job from 3-9. Anyway, that's about all for now.

I didn't get the call until later on in the afternoon

sort of but they wanted me in for 4-9. I got downtown shortly after before Anne took this picture of me on my way out the door. I post a Tweet of it just now.

Evelyn Paglini RIP March 31, 2014Dr. Evelyn Paglini, beloved long-time Coast to Coast AM guest, has passed away. She was a major player in the physic community. I wasn't much of a fan but I appreciate her contribution to the realm of mysticism.

Today I'm out the door 5-9 for my late afternoon commute but at least the weather is good so I can't complain. I like the shift but the money's no good, just get a grip  on yourself.

I've had a Flicker account for quite awhile now and I decided it's time to add a link to my photo stream on my website. I uploaded this photo of myself taken by Anne from our iPad yesterday. Anyway, that's all for now.

We have our first ever Bitcoin ATM

machine here in the city. 1BTC= about $816CND. Bitcoins are stored in "electronic wallets" on smart phones. Bitcoins might make solid currency obsolete but I doubt it will be in my lifetime. Yet look at cell phones. In 1973 when the cell phone was invented it's coming out party was mostly ignored until about 10 years later. Cell phones in 1982 were a bit of a novelty but they gradually became ubiquitous. Bitcoin will no doubt experience growing pains and a cashless society might yet be around the corner. Whether it's Bitcoin or something else the potential is there.

I arrived at Corona station on my afternoon commute in record time yesterday: 4:15pm! So I went into Tim's and ordered a decaf. No roll up prize yet. Having a bit of time on my hands, I read more out of False Gods enjoying my coffee.

I got into the office with 10 minutes to spare and got organized. So the announcement was made that if we don't keep up an individual flow rate of 1 completion/hour we would be sent home! Unbelievable! If it happens a 2nd time then we lose shifts. I got my first survey done 45 minutes into my shift. The next three were scattered after break. I said to myself, "Send me home so I can watch the Oiler game." The trouble is Ottawa and Victoria don't realize that our economy is a lot better off here then it is in those cities. Even during my 13 years at Xentel I had been sent home only once for a low total and the manager apologized to me the next day. I was never sent home again for low totals, even when we had really ghetto campaigns. That was before we moved into the Baker Centre. It's times like this I wish I had my 2nd job to go to. Tuesday Anne and I are heading down to AW and I'm going to use their job services to get another part time job or a better full time job. I'd love to do a security guard job again, like the Pacific Rim Mall (PRM) location I had in 1994. I only had 3 days from 7-2am and I got a ride home every night. At that time it was only $7 hour. The PRM has 2 levels and mostly occupied at that time with karaoke, video and gift shops for the Asian community. It also had a dinning facility and a bank as it's 2 major tenants. Getting to the site from my place in the West end was hard, which is why I quit. I should have kept it. I wouldn't mind a site like that now. I did 1 round every 2 hours. I sat down reading books most of the time and writing. That was my second time with Whacken Hut. I don't think they exist any more. I tried finding them awhile ago but no luck. A job like that would be ok. That's what I thought Inner-tech was in 1999 but no way. HO needs to get a grip, this is not Victoria or Ottawa with a 8% something unemployment rate. Only one phrase comes to mind: Boiler room operation.

This afternoon it's more of the same as last night. I got another 4 hour shift and Saturday is a 7.5 hour shift. I'm looking online and in the paper for something else but it's more of the same as what I'm doing now. Tuesday is when I turn it up a notch. Anyway that's all for now.
