Today is my banking day

and after I make a deposit, its across the street to Audrey's books as they have the recent "Fate of the Jedi book" there and then up to the office. After work, it's Eat along Jasper ave to my RBC by way of the LRT. Normally I'd just walk there. Then I have Saturday and I'm done for the week.

After work tomorrow, it's off to LM to make a payment and then hobble over to Wendy's or maybe even Denny's. I think this time, I'm going to go to Denny's. I only have to cross 1 street (103rd) and North on 104th and a block away from the National Film board and I'm there but we'll see.

Actually Anne makes an interesting point that because I'll be getting my vacation pay anyway (and I'm taking a week off) My vacation pay will not only cover my website but also it will cover my Lodge dues and my LM bill, cool. Anyway, that's about all for now.

I thought I'd get

to bed early but I ended up in in bed by about 2:45am listening to a bit of Coast. They were talking about the Ark of the Covenant.

I took this photo of my breakfast with Boots in the background watching as I'm having my morning coffee.

I've got another 8 hours on the job the way things are going I think there's a new job in my immediate future probably after the New Year, I hope. Others are leaving. My morale isn't very good lately as far as recent days. There's been no mention of a staff Christmas party so far.

The big event for this week of course is Paul McCartney, ex Beatle here for 2 shows on the last leg of his 2012 tour. Probably The concert since 2000. One of my Colleagues went to see him, Kyle and he said he loved it. I would have liked to have gone as well but he's here tonight. Good old Paul.

Today I'm in for another 8 hours but that's Ok. Anne's made me a lunch and I'm hoping for a better day then yesterday. I always do. Anyway, that's about all for today.

Despite my wife's mood swings

I had a decent day yesterday.

Anne still insists that Fran a colleague from work was at the Oil Kings game with Warren and I Saturday night because she saw the back head of a blonde woman in the crowd about 6 rows away from me. Unbelievable. She me or anyone for that matter from the lens point of view could not accurately identify this woman, nobody could see the face but yup this has to be Fran. Or was this person even a woman from this point of view? She automatically believes this was Fran. So now I'm in the dog house based upon this flimsy "evidence." Unbelievable so because of this, I'm somehow the enemy, yeesh

Anyway I did a massive back up just now backing up 6.5 Gb's of video and photo's from my iPad. I was wondering why the start button on my iPad was sticky, now I think I know.

Earlier I was working on Reactor 5.7 from my Komplete 8 and making some progress with it but I forgot to save my work and I lost it all. Interesting stuff. Anyway, that's all for now.

After Warren had to use the mens room

we went "next door" in Rexall to check out the wares in the Oiler store. I was looking for a Oiler's wind breaker but they just had Oil Kings, Oiler Tees, hats and Jersey's and stuff. Nothing that would interest me other then maybe the Jersey's but at $240/pop, I have reservations especially as my job designation is on the line. So we went off to the LRT platform as it was very chilly out there about -15. Warren got his train first and mine came almost right afterwards. The #11 pulled in after a brief wait there I was home by about 10:15pm.

About 11:15pm Anne comes in all pouty and whinny giving me jabs about being out with Warren and Kyle. Kyle wasn't with us at the game but Anne is full of piss and vinager and I'm not in her good books right now. I feel a fight coming on, it's called "marital bliss/pms" type of a thing. It's whinny, ugly and its all directed at me. So in other words, shut up James. She forgets that it was last weekend that I took her out to see the James Bond movie "Skyfall," last weekend. She also forgets that I work with these people and for years. She also forgets that I told her about this "outing" with Warren weeks ago.

Anyway I need to listen to some music to unwind, that's about all from me today, maybe..

It was an awesome day

I got off the train not going into Tim's and went right to the office. I had a brief wait outside in front as staff began to show up, Kyle, Lawrence, Karen etc. Finally James let us in and upstairs. I had a good start getting a $210 sale after the lunch break on card and a couple more for $200. I think I ended up with $210/card and a total of $610 for the day, it was a nice day at work for a change. And I was on 1 campaign.
After work as it was mild Warren, Kyle and I went across the street to catch a crowded #5 bus to Coliseum Piazza. This place has been around since the 1970's. It took us about half an hour to get there as the place was just beginning to get busy. I had the cheeseburger platter. On a scale from 1-10, I'd rate it a 7.5. Not a Wendy's but good and non stop pop. Kyle went along his way and Warren and I worked our way to Rexall. We had a bit of a trouble getting our ticket but got our seats in the barrier free section and enjoyed the game. The above is our sight lines to the game. Anyway, that's all for now.

I was in bed by about

about 2:30am and I stayed up to listen to Coast for a few minutes. The topic was 2012 & Earth Activations researcher Drunvalo Melchizedek talking about 2012 the pyramids in Egypt, Atlantis and the Mayans etc. Coast has been having some good shows this week, what with Michio Kaku the physicist and the JFK show Wednesday and last night. Now that’s what I’m talking about. Tonight open lines and the weekend shows are pretty lame.

But I'm thinking on today's day 49 years ago in about an hour and a half is when the world changed when JFK was killed. I was just a 10 year old kid. I didn't know what was going on at the time. Our Home room teacher called us all in to listen to some kind of message from the school principle. That's when the principle over the loud speaker  made the announcement about JFK and the shooting in Dealey plaza in Dallas, wherever that was. The only thing I was thinking about when the Principle said classes were suspended for the rest of the day was an extension to the weekend and if I was going to get my allowance or not. I was just a kid, what did I know?

This morning I had restless leg syndrome and I’m lucky if I got maybe 4 hours of sleep having been woken up by a loud bang that felt like the ceiling was being breached above. At first I couldn’t identify it, then latter on after a couple of softer episodes I had enough. I put something on and went upstairs and knocked on the door to the suit above us. Nothing, I knocked 3 times and I think they got the message. I went to bed after taking a pill to ease the pain in my leg/knee after that and I think I got an hour but that was it. If I get the chance I‘m informing the caretaker.

I‘m in for 7.5 hours today. I got nothing all afternoon yesterday except for 1 sale. I did better in the evening next time I‘m in an afternoon sale drought I’m going to ask to do ret for half an hour, so at least I can have something on the board. Anyway, this cheque tonight is my stat pay for Remembrance day last week and only 29.5 hours because I had my Lodge installation practice but the stat pay is going to make the difference. Anyway, it’s still going to be a long day but that’s all for now.

On this day

(Friday Nov. 22nd 1963) was the assassination of JFK. This is the 49th anniversary of the shooting in Dealey plaza and of course on the eve of the anniversary Coast has it’s usual JFK show on. I’ll be listening to this in a bit.

This morning it was colder the usual out there. My leg felt better. I got into the office and decided to see if I could log into Ched because of the JFK show on Coast but because of my iPad Adobe Flash can not be used but then one of the guys told me about “Tune in Radio.” I downloaded this free app and it works really good. I’m going to get the paid version, eventually.

Yesterday the NHLPA made another offer to the NHL but it was a little to late. They agreed to meet before the end of the week. The significant part of all this was that the NHLPA made some forward movement, more then they had done before. It seems that the owners are losing about $18-$20M/day! The players are losing between $8-$10M/day. Both sides are losing a lot of money also the league is losing sponsorships. They already lost Kraft foods and might also end up losing other sponsors like Coors etc.

My day yesterday was ok but not great. I was glad to get out of there at 9pm, while the getting was good. I need to have a good day. Anyway, that’s all for now.

I had a couple

of hic ups earlier just some things that bug me, little things. This morning I’m at my Scotia bank and I got a fist full of candy for Anne, the leave a bit of candy, coffee for customers etc. I grabbed a fist full of candy and as I pulled my face mask back on just as soon as I opened the door on cue some guy in the vestibule almost on cue ducked out right behind me as if waiting for somebody to open the door. That pissed me off. Despite that I had a good afternoon pulling in a $30 membership and in the 2nd half I got a $200 sale. So far so good. In the evening sift I got 2 credit card sales and another $200 so I had a pretty good day. I even caught my train in good order. Right on time. Then while waiting for my #183 bus the driver putters around getting his bag and crap and leaving the exit door right in front of me opened. As he was about to leave I asked him politely saying please if he could close the back door but he mumbles something and gives me attitude. Excuse me? And at the curb out here as me and another pedestrian were waiting for the light to change one of the bus passengers (little traffic on the street) decides to jump the light and head across the street heading towards my building. “That little shit,” I said to myself (he had headphones on) “I bet he’s heading towards my building about 20 paces ahead of me. If I tried that this time of night I would have been picked up for J walking. Anne got caught over the summer. To make matters worse, when I got inside the elevator was on the top (4th floor) That little shit took the elevator up ahead of me. I know don’t sweat the small stuff but there are things that just give me pause. That’s this kind of a day I had but now that it’s over, I have to laugh.

Monday, November 19, 2012

it’s an overcast day

out there -9 and possibly a wind chill.

I was considering going into to work for the 5-9 shift to see if I could win that iPod dock. Then I realized something James said something like unless if anyone gets $1,400 in cards I could win it. I probably could but somehow I get the feeling that some of the guys have set up a couple of call back taps for today to get the points they need and I’m going to go in there tonight and get nothing. I’ll wait for the big draw and participate in that instead. Even though I have enough "ibucks" to win, somebody is going to get a couple of huge sales on card. That iPod dock would have been a nice accessory but I’m into the big prizes like the Ntendo DS that’s up for grabs by the end of the month. They‘ll have new prizes this week. Now watch, I‘ll go in and the iPod dock will be gone tomorrow, meaning to say somebody took it basically saying what I said above. Next time, I'll wait until the end of the week to see how many ibucks I have. I'm testing a theory and see if it holds. If the iPod dock is still there tomorrow morning, then I could have had it. I've got the feeling that it will be off the shelf when I go into the office at noon tomorrow
.

Anyway, my knee feels a little better not by much. I don’t need to hobble around at all but I’m still moving slower. Anne and I think it’s just a Charlie horse.

Our outing yesterday went by without a hitch. Anne took this photo of me on the train holding a bottle of diet Coke. Despite the discomfort in my knee, I was feeling pretty good.

We barely caught our #33 at Southgate but Anne was able to get the driver to wait and hold it for me. That would have saved us half an hour. So it was over to West Edmonton Mall (WEM) and we got there about 4:15pm. We headed over to the food court and I got some Chinese food but the chicken ball was kind of lame. Anne went over to get a Tim’s but I had enough walking around and I needed a break so she went on her own and I posted a couple of Facebook photos. I also cleaned up some memory on my iPad and posted a video to YouTube. I freed up about 1Gb of space on my iPad. Anne came back and brought me a little ice cream and strawberry treat. Then we went into Chapters on our way to Silver City theaters and I noticed they had a great selection of Warhammer 40k books. I found “Word Bearer omnibus” and they had 1 copy. I had a chat with another Chapters shopper browsing for SFF books. I decided to pick it up but thought better of it and put it back on the shelves and found Anne sitting where I left her. I mentioned it to her and she said if I want it, that’d be ok with her. We went over to where I had left it and bought it. Then we went over to PJ’s pet supplies next door to look at the pets. Lots of birds. The puppies and cats were put away. Up a couple of escalators and an elevator, we got our tickets and I cashed in for my free Scene movie as Anne and I came out to watch the new James Bond movie “Skyfall.” In a word, awesome. Probably one of the best James Bond movies of all time. Daniel Craig totally impressed me with his performance. I love the surround sound. On a scale of 1-10, I’d rate it a 10. Especially because I got it for free and this morning based upon what I already had on my Scene account and from paying for Anne's movie, I have 2041 points which is enough for 2 free movies. These are first run movies as well.

Throughout the day yesterday, I was watching the Calgary/BC CFL scores results on my iPad from the CFL homepage and another shocker: Calgary won. So next weekend it’s going to be Calgary/Toronto in Toronto. If it hadn’t been the pain from my knee, today on a scale from 1-10 would be a 9.5. Right up there. Yesterday was a great day, for a Sunday.

I read an interesting article in the Sun paper Saturday in between slow calls. It's called "Roll out the barrels." The article revealed some interesting things about oil and the most interesting part of all is that out of the Bakken shale oil fields there in North Dakota US oil companies are pulling out about 700,000 barrels of oil/day. By 2020 the US will be expected to be the worlds larget oil producer in the world (with help from Canada) However oil shale is very expensive to produce in a process called hydraulic fracturing and like Alberta tar sands oil (bitumen) has its fair share of problems. Environmentalists note issues like land use, waste disposal, water use, waste-water management, greenhouse-gas emissions and air pollution to name a few. Utilizing hydraulic fracturing in places like Texas is compromising the states fresh water table in a drought cycle there. It's very interesting stuff going around.

Today on my plate, I’m doing more research into Cubase 7 and the Cubase C controls. Plus also posting this and puttering around the apartment. Anyway, that’s about all for now.

Uggh, after about

5am I couldn't sleep. I got up for a couple of hours and then at 7am I went back to bed for an hour.

8 more hours and I'm done for a couple of days. Other then that  not much going on, I'm about head on out of here in about 15 minutes and once I'm off the train at Corona it's upstairs for my weekend breakfast sausage sandwich 2 hash browns (if they got them ready) get a coffee and diet cola, chocolate double donut and head into the office. Already I can feel my blood sugar drop, similar to last Saturday.

On Coast last night they had their open lines and a listener was talking about a huge comet arriving here into Earths area by this time next year. Interesting. Anyway, that's all for today  .

Friday, November 16, 2012

I slept ok from just

after 2am until about 9:40 waking up before my alarm, shaved and showered.

I got a LRT notification from my “Connect 2 Edmonton” forum site and the LRT has service interrupted today as they are down to 1 track. Apparently the City is having a kind of breaking through the Nait line tunnel ceremony this  morning at 11am. I’ll see the highlights of this tonight. It’s going to be interesting to see how the timing between 2 tracks and 3 trains going in 2 different directions off the same track. Currently it’s just track 1 & 2. For the most part my train comes on track 2 heading either to Corona station or Clareview. Now there’s a train heading to Clareview and to Nait and the other way. In other words, 3 trains sharing 2 tracks. The only thing I can think of is if the Nait line doesn’t go all the way from Nait to Century park but stops at Churchill. Will passengers need to get off at Churchill to go South or East or go straight through? This is going to need some computer gymnastics to pull off the switching details. But it won’t be ready for another 15 months yet.

I’m having my coffee relaxing as I hope I’m in for a good full day. I don’t like the new script for CPC because it’s like were talking down to the public by saying that if they don’t support the party with a donation then like the NDP defending Iran, they become no better. Essentially we’re talking down to these people. I like the conversational selling aspects here and all, good stuff.

Looks like we’re going to be in for a decent day today weather wise. We’ve been under a bit of a mild winter so far. The past couple of winters haven’t been like what we used to have in the 70’s & 80’s. All these things go in cycles.

Monday I’m in early to make a bank deposit and get a haircut before work. But today it’s 7.5 hours and do the bank thing and home for a couple of hours and back to bed. Anyway, that’s about all for now.

I had an unexpected nice day off

I decided to head down to Pet Smart to catch the #2 which would take me to 50th and 118th Ave a few blocks from Lodge. The #183 came along and I asked the driver about the #2 and he said it went to Clareview station but it could be out of service. I hurried back to my place and at 6:30pm I called Mike and asked him if he could pick me up. I gave him directions and waited out there for about 20 minutes and he pulled in. Whew. Mike agreed to pull into Tim’s over there on 50th and I got a badly needed coffee and we arrived at Lodge at 7pm. We had about 8 guys there. It was a great practice. I’m going to invest the Stewards. There was a bit  more that only the IPM’s are privy to and at that point Nathan our director of ceremonies arranged for Dan (not Mullet) to drive me home, which was nice. Then I realized that wait now, I have the key and they have no way of locking up. Dan drove us back a bit and Mike and Frank were out there talking and I mentioned to Frank about the festive board and he said that he’s the installing master so he does the festive board. I don’t have to do anything! Sweet. I’m done the JW chair except when we open Lodge. By this time next year though, it will be my turn do the festive board as WM.

I'm happy about the above. In the morning I'm going to drop into my Scotia bank before work and ask how much my service charges are and when.

Today it's a 7.5 hour day and after work I'll be rushing up to my bank. City work crews are doing some renovations in the upper concourse at the LRT Central station. They've been doing this for over the last couple of months now.

I think Saturday after work, I'm just going over to Audrey's and shop for a book and then head over to Tim's for some lasagna and then home.

Monday, I'm in for 4 hours so I can drop that $35 into my account to pay for my iPad Internet plan. Also by doing that I can see if can win any of the new prizes and have Friday morning off. This way it makes for an easier Friday especially when there's a full 6 hours Saturday. Anyway, that's about all for now

Thursday, November 15, 2012

My objective was to

go into the office this morning but, uh I slept in missing my alarm. Ooops

Anne went to the bank to pay a bill and brought back a A&W sirloin uncle burger and fries. Very good.

Since about when she left I've been researching more stuff on Native Instruments Machine MK2 as to  opposed to it's baby brother Mikro. MK2 is the better deal and I'm hoping to pick this up just before I take my ten days off. Maybe LM will let me have a couple of studio monitors in the mix as well, probably not but if they say ok, I'll get 2 of the KRK Rokit 5's. That'd be $1020! Yikes, maybe not. We'll see.

Anyway, I'm ready to head out the door as I'm going to catch the bus this time by Pet smart and I'll bring my iPad and iTouch along.  .

I listened to (several times)

last night a song from The Monkee’s “Shades of grey” song and I had a bit of a epiphany of sorts. I recall before my back operation. That wonderful year 1967, 45 years ago when I was 15 years old. I didn’t know what a future was, I couldn’t think past being in the hear now. I had a crush on Jill Sigardson (apparently she died of cancer)
I recall that dance we had on the patio and I said “May I cut in” as Jill was dancing with somebody. Those words night not have been in 1966 maybe they were said in 1965. I was still a quirky kid with a crew cut. Somehow the song resonated with me, about simpler times in life. I didn’t know anything about drugs or jobs or the economy or sports. I had no aspirations or ambitions. I remember Avlon Hill’s “Blitzkrieg” or at least watching Dave Galloway and Jim Martin play this, sometime in 1966 in Dave’s bedroom. The game came out in 1965 and the only hobby shop where products like this would have been sold near us was at the Cariboo shopping Centre where “Great Clips” is now according to Google maps that is. I also recall 1966 how I tagged along with Dave Winfield because he was excited he was to get the AMT Star Trek Enterprise model. I also recall how he bought Pizza for us and we pigged out on it in the bushes by the slopes behind the shopping Centre. Those bushes are still there today. I couldn’t tell what the name of the Pizza place was or even the name of the hobby shop but this most likely is where Dave Galloway bought the game Blitzkrieg.

We have this game where we get iBucks. It’s based upon a point system based upon credit cards. It’s a motivating the staff kind of tool. It was a long day and we had about 6 products that have been picked over the past while. Plays usually get the points handed out Monday nights (to get more people show up on Mondays because Mondays, hardly anyone shows up because they already put a 37.5 hour work week in. So when I was handed a slip saying I had 1400 something iBucks and 4 other people were there along with me, I asked what people wanted because I had my eye on this sub bass woofer and speakers. So I asked around everybody said Ok, take the sub. It was a hefty package as well to take home. I was excited. Then along comes one of the guys and says he’s going to claim it. Talk about inflation. Totally let down and after that I didn’t want anything left over. Most of it was house wares. At this point, I didn’t even want the tablet or anything. I was kind of let down and I think it showed the last half of an hour of a long day. I kind of felt the other guy kind of betrayed me because he knew I wanted the sub and acquired it out of spite. He probably had no use for it anyway. I should have used reversed psychology and focused on the tablet and the guy would have taken the tablet freeing up the sub. I would have done this anyway but I was wiped out and exhausted. Then I got to thinking that, I really want to get the studio monitors and sub anyway from LM. That in itself is going to require one of my Lodge friends to come with me and pick it up at LM on a Saturday afternoon. I’m going to have to bring the package in the back way.  Ok I want the KRK - KRK10S Powered Studio Subwoofer $450 and 2 KRK 8’s which are $279> $280 each. The package is just over $1,000. I’m looking at $1,060 total package. It’s basically $88/month. I can go in every 2 weeks and make a payment. I could have this paid up in 6 months and then go for the Easy home. Just something to think about. Anyway, that’s all for now.

Sunday, November 11, 2012

Having a decent Sunday and

it’s in the half Esks/Argo’s and it’s 7-31! Yikes. So much for the Edmonton Eskimo’s for the 2012 season. Trading for Ricky Ray didn’t help much. Though to be fair we got into the playoffs, even though it looks like only to the Eastern semi finale on a cross over. This is a hard game for the Esks to come back from, what with the Argo’s playing so well. Latter I’m following the Riders/Calgary game after this.

Yesterday late afternoon while waiting for a bus a block West of Wendy’s on 104th street I was wondering if there was another bus stop/shelter further East along the same block but after a look on Google maps, I couldn’t find anything. And from the time I got to the bus shelter itself trudging through a narrow snow path along the sidewalk and wait for 30 minutes, I could have easily walked from there to Corona station. It would have taken me 15 minutes but my right knee was acting up on me. Besides I didn’t have my iPad with me and it wasn’t that cold. My big issue was I needed to us a bathroom as I was holding my bladder. I could have ducked into one of the nearby shops behind the bus shelter but chances are I would have missed my connection. I didn’t see anything coming my way East along 104th street. At about 5:45pm it was busy traffic.

I remember taking the 104th street way home often working at Cobogo warehouse (behind the Grand Hotel) and I’d take a bus that would take me to the now burnt out Sandy Lane strip mall, cross the street and head home to where I was at the time from 1983-March 1985. Anyway, all along 104th Ave from 101st street right up to 121st was the CPR tracks and CPR sheds. It was all open, where Grant MacEwan is now and Oliver shopping Centre. It’s amazing how the city has grown in the last 30 years. About the only landmarks still around in the City would be the CN building the MacDonald hotel the Telus building, the Grand Hotel, The Bay. That’s about it.

At the moment it’s -11 out there and there could be a wind chill. Tomorrow (Monday) Anne wants to drag me out to West Edmonton Mall to get a bite to eat at the food court and try using our Scene points so we can go see the new James Bond film, “Skyfall” If we  make the proper connections and all we might be back by 10pm but I doubt it. If we go for the 4pm show and leave out of here by 2pm, maybe. I can miss Raw for one week, won’t kill me. Anyway, that’s about all for me for today.

Saturday, November 10, 2012

busy couple of days here.

I had a great day on the job last night. Tuesday slow, Wednesday great, Thursday slow (I had to duck out at 7pm as my knee was causing me some greif and I was having a long day as it was.) First time that's ever happened. I'm hoping for a solid day today.

I'm out of here in about an hour, then over to Tim's for some breakfast and in the office for 6 hours. I arranged to have one of my colleagues to drop me off after work this afternoon so I can make a bill payment at Long & McQuade on my program. I'm ahead by 3 payments, today will be 4.

The guys asked me over to BP's for drinks after work today but I think I'm just going to go over to Wendy's by LM have a bite to eat and catch the #2 to Corona and head home.

I was in bed by about 12:30 this morning giving me about 5.5 hours of sleep.

Anne’s giving me the silent treatment, fighting with me this weekend. Most likely because it’s a long weekend. It means I don’t have to call her today but she’ll call me this evening on her break.

I had a better day on the job yesterday. I got a $400 sale that went through on a Visa (I was told it went through last night) I think I ended up with about $1200 or so and about $400 on card doing CPC all day.

In doing some more family tree stuff, Robert Wacaser suggested it might have been Richard Martin Shannon (James Blaine Shannon’s brother, which would make him my father’s uncle) that paid us a visit that summer in 1968 but that wouldn’t make sense because he died September 26 1955. Thirteen years before the visit  He was born 1891, which would put him at 64 years old. If he lived until 1968 he would have been an old man at the age of 77. I know JBS had another brother as well but that would have put him at about the same age by 1968. According to Find a Grave.com, All of JBS’s brothers had no children resembling 2 boys. Even when I was 16 in 1968 dad would have been 46. My brother Mike might know. By 1968 though, Florence Shannon Monsees would have been 22 years in her grave already.
The other thing Robert mentioned was that in 1940 Florence was very sick, which might have been the motivating factor for them to come up to Canada. From 1926-until 1940 I wonder how much contact Richard and Evelyn had with Xel and Florence? It’s quite possible that Xel invited Richard and Evelyn to Vernon in 1940. Perhaps Ken Grandbois himself was a member of the Knights of Pythias and was initially from Vernon. He was born in 1915. He’d be 97 if he’s still alive today.
Apparently Evelyn and Ken have a daughter Carol Round and even gave me a phone number to call. So I’m going to call when I get home tonight. Maybe she can tell me more about Ken and Evelyn if she’s open to it. She might even tell me if Ken was a member of KOP, where they got married where they lived in N Vancouver. I vaguely remember in the family car in the 1960’s paying Ken and Evelyn a visit in North Vancouver. I assume it was in North Vancouver. I don’t remember much about this visit. I think we were told to wait in the car.
The other thing I’d be interested in knowing is where did Evelyn and Richard go to school in El Centro? John Elder was in El Centro and I think he might have met Alta there 1935 because by 1954 they were married. Alta had Dorothy Jean Shannon.
Getting back to dad’s uncle Richard Martin Shannon (RMS) his only wife was Roxie Paralee Marlin Shannon (1893 - 1979)* She died at the age of 86. This would have been dad’s aunt. RMS and Roxie had 2 girls, Margaret Laura Shannon Holmes (1915 - 1995)* Margaret never had any children and she would have been 53 in 1968. Lola May Shannon Coon (1921 - 2001)* These were my dad’s cousins. Both of these girls would have been about the same age as dad. Lola May might have had a child as there is a photo from “Find a grave” of her holding a baby. So far I can’t find any link to any member of dad’s family that had 2 twins. I guess I was wrong about the JBS having 2 other brothers, he only had 1 and that would have been RMS. His two girls have no twins. Roxie had never been married before Richard. So then was this on Ken’s side of the family? There was nothing significant going on in Vancouver in 1968 that would compel those people from coming to Vancouver. So who were they?

I'm off for 2 days, 1 with pay. However I got the wife fighting with me this weekend. It's going to be one of "those" weekends. Sigh, what I don't go through with. Anyway's that's about all for now.

Lately my right knee has been

bothering me and I had to leave the office early having a "0" day since break. They didn't want to give me ret and that only added to the difficult day I was having.

We had a heavy snow day the other day (Wednesday) and got about about 8 inches of heavy wet snow. It's not cold out there at all.

I've got 2 CFL games on my Proline and an NFL game Giants/Seattle. Not bad for a $40 win. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Not one of my better days

on the job performance wise and I really wanted to have a good day. I think I had the US election coverage on my mind and for some reason I just couldn't get into the job all day. It didn't help much that I was pulled off about 6 campaigns all day. I managed to get 2 sales, though but that was about all.

I kept on following the election results on my iPad all night and it was very interesting. At one point Romney was leading then Obama pulled ahead, it was a real horse race and there were some states where voters were in lineups for 3-4 hours at a time. Unbelievable. Obama ended up with 290 of the 270 electoral votes he needed. Romney at this hour is still preparing for his concession speech. He has to do this before Obama can deliver his acceptance speech. I'm happy that Obama won though.

Because not only were my calls slow and I had way more answering machines then most days I had a chance to catch up on a bit of TV. The movie playing this afternoon was American Graffiti  There was another movie but I can't remember what it was.

Ok, I have 824/1000 points to see a movie at Silver City. I'd like to go see James Bond "Skyfall." Speaking of movies, it seems that the upcoming Star Wars 7 will have the original cast in it. All accept one of course because in the books one of them, well I won't provide a spoiler alert or anything.

Anyway, despite a disaster of a day and all, at least I got something. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Too get temperatures

like what we're having at this hour this time of year here in Edmonton, It's +10 is significant! Tomorrow we could get +4 but after that it drops. By mid month we could be back in the deep freeze.

I've been doing some genealogy research on my family tree on my father's side. Somehow after 1940 my fathers sister got married in 1942 but I don't know if that was here in Canada or in California. Apparently they lived on the island of Catalina in 1941. My father would have been 19 and his sister 22. The only thing I can think of that what motivated my father and his sister to come to Canada was his older and only sister, got married in 1942. I know who and why but not the when and where, if that makes sense.

I'm in hunker down mode this weekend even though it's Monday it's still my weekend.

I'm also learning my SW parts as well for next year when I take the SW chair.

Speaking of the above LM has a recording workshop happening this month and wouldn't you know it, it's on the same night as our Lodge practice. I would have loved to have gone to this thing.

Tonight is another Monday night Raw and Anne is doing laundry. So I'm going to be in for a decent night.

Not much in the way of book buying this month although I'm interested in Repo Men by Eric Garcia and Elizabeth Bear's Shadow unit series are out in paperback. I might see if I can special order 1 of them, try it out. Other then that, anyway, that's about all I have for now.

Friday was busy

what with running around doing banking in the morning and work during the day and banking a night, I was bushed when I got home. Saturday I went into Tim's to get my breakfast sandwich and I took care of some personal business with Kyle. I had a slow beginning to the shift but after a few sales, I was doing pretty good. I tried to call Anne but she wasn't answering the phone. I had a better afternoon. Actually I had one of my better days as I was able to pull in about $1010 on card alone! Our whole office did good.

After work I met the guys over for a beer at BP's and had a few laughs. I stayed for one for a few hours. It was a good time.

I think I dozed off there for awhile on the train and got home shortly before 7pm. I watched some TV and dozed off there on the couch for awhile. I got a call from Anne at about 8pm.
I was going to go down to LM this weekend but I plan on doing that, next weekend. Also, after figuring things out from YouTube etc, I'm now able to get Cubase to record my guitar. I'm getting there, slowly. Anyway, that's been my busy couple of says. .

Slow going today

But I think it's because folks are suffering from Halloween hangover. The dreaded morning after. I hope I at get something this morning.

As soon as I got outside I was met by freezing rain but it was ok to walk on and even downtown it wasn't bad.
