I worked 2 shifts last week

but everything I make now is just pocket money anyway. Mainly because all my pension back pay came in and I get to keep some for a nice monthly allowance. At least we have a 2 big bills paid off and  that makes Anne happy. If it were not for my wife, I'd be on the street. It took 66 years to get this far. Living the dream, yeah right.😥

So tomorrow, I'm up at 6am for our men's prayer group at 7am. Its a nice walk over there anyway, and my walk back. I'm going to try and get some sleep and after Anne and I are going to head out for a bite to eat downtown to celebrate some major bills being paid off. I'm getting my book at Audrey's and home to watch some hockey.

I love mothers day weekend. The weather is improving, some time off NHL playoffs and I've got a bit of cash. However this break is going to be short lived because we have another project coming up Tuesday/Wednesday, then its the Victoria day long weekend. I feel like I'm getting spoiled. Anyway, that's all for now.

Not much going on

keeping busy coffee with friends chatting on messenger that sort of thing. Other then paying the odd bill, at least I'm saving money.

It was pointed out to be by an old friend that I have trust issues. Mainly not being honest with my wife about the people I go out with. The other thing is about being too emotionally attached to those closest too me. That's like one other person. Obsession. Excuse me, but I'm not in love with anyone. It was suggested I seek some counseling about the above and I was given a contact name for this. I composed a email and launched it earlier this afternoon. We'll see how that goes. In other words I'm in the doghouse again. Poor Jimmy.

At least I've been watching lots of hockey. Not much music production or reading. I hope to get a tack going this weekend. Anyway, that's about all for now.

My internet has been slow as of late

and at no one with kids still in school for a few more days, should be on it to slow it down. Seems to be ok now though

I haven't been seeping very well over night lately. Its normal for us to be up until 3-4am, weekends even up to 5am. Having 5 hours sleep is normal for me. But the other day, Sunday night-Monday morning, my restless leg syndrome would kick in, I'd get maybe an hour sleep, then get up too pee, That was the cycle  until about 6am. I went to the couch to watch a TCM movie or something. That didn't work. Reading helps me to sleep, so maybe lack of reading over the last few days has been responsible for my recent sleep cycle, because it happened again last night but to a lesser degree. Now add the fact that we're going to be entering a heat wave this week of +28, +30. In May? We don't get weather like this until about July. This will even make it harder to sleep despite our fan and AC, yeesh.

Yesterday I watched a good hockey game between Tampa Bay (Tb)Lightning/Washington Capitals. I'm leaning towards the underdog team, which I feel are the Caps. It was a home game but if the Caps lost we'd be seeing a Vegas?Tb in the finale. Still might work out that way because Wednesday is a game 7 Home game. Good luck with that Washington. But you never know. What I'm excited over is the CFL as we have Winnipeg/Eskimo's pre season game on Sunday. Anyway, that's all for now.

That was my weekend

such as it was. Saturday wasn't that great due to a couple of family squabbles in the house hold. my Saturday evening what better with watching the Oilers win in LA and Max Pizza out of the Horseshoe bar up the street. Next to Royal Pizza, that's a family favorite here.

WWE's "Elimination chamber" pay per view on a scale from 1-5 I'd rate it a 4. Great entertainment value. I missed the back-to-back Oilers game yesterday in Anaheim. Apparently Oilers made a trade Letestu for Pontus Aberg. Aberg is a Winger. Most likely a 4th liner. Letestu and Lucic accounted for something like 39 goals last year. Oilers won in Anaheim 6-5 in a shootout.

I'm in the office from 4-when ever. Depends on how the flow rate goes. Most likely I'll be in the office until 9pm. We might have a few days off in between projects. I'm ok with it. Anyway that's all for now.

The Oilers lost

again by a one goal game in Anaheim last night. At least there was no game controversy other then singing the new Canadian anthem "All of us command." The boys go into San Jose Saturday for a back-to-back game for another 8pm start.

The opening ceremonies for the Olympics were last night. I'm not watching because the NHL is not part of it. This was the NHL's decision partly due to the 17 day break in the current 2017-18 schedule. It would have been great to see Connor McDavid and Auston Matthew's on team Canada. Because of this the IOC now blocks them out of the 2022 Olympic games in Beijing.

When Justin Trudeau was elected, i said to myself: "He's got 3 strikes and he's out." Strike 1: His campaign promise to legalize cannabis. Strike 2: The changing of our anthem. I was going to give him a strike 3 for the Omar Khadr case was handled but supporting the Trans mountain pipeline kind of made up for that. I'm a fence sitter with the Trans mountain pipeline but winced when the Energy East pipeline was cancelled. Anyway that's all for now.

Last nights chili isn't sitting with me that well

this morning. Note to self: No spicy food before bed on a Friday night. Especially when I have a 5 hour window for sleep. But I'm ok now (more or less) and its only a 4 hour shift today.

Yesterday's East Coast DNS hack attack shut down the Internet for much of the day. I was able to get through and do some FB messaging this morning. Apparently the DNS was a very costly day. Internet security experts know the code, they just don't know (or are not saying) where it originated from. Some speculate this was an attempt to compromise the US election. This is DNS attack was on a massive scale. Personally I believe this is an effort to shut down Wikileaks because of the major announcements that might have a serious implications on the US election, November 8th.

Later today is the Oilers/Jets alumni hockey game. Its a outdoor winter game in Winnipeg. It isn't like the original heritage classic that occurred in 2003 13 years ago here in Edmonton. There was something special about that game. That was the NHL's (in the modern era) first outdoor hockey game. This game is an exception to all of the heritage classics of the past. The Edmonton/Winnipeg rivalry runs deep. Now its becoming a (in my opinion) a bit of a joke. These guys like Gretzky are getting old. They can still skate and all but by their own admission, its getting harder and harder to play the game like even half of what they used to. And then the NHL has these "winter classics" that are outside of "traditional" winter cities, and that aren't  even original 6 teams. However, I'm talking about 2 different events: The "Heritage Classic" and the "Winter Classic." At least the Oilers/Montreal Canadians had an original 6 team rivalry. I can see Boston/New York Rangers in a outdoor game. Those are two original six teams. Where they would have it, is another story. This afternoon is mostly for the fans. It doesn't mean anything but the regular season game will be tomorrow afternoon and its also an outdoor game. Watching a NHL regulation game outdoors is why I watch the heritage classic.

After work this afternoon, I'm meeting Anne at Clareview again, so she gets the bus pass for tonight. Then I'm getting a bag of chips for my CFL game: Its Eskimo's at BC lions. I think there are 3 games left in the season and the Esks want to win in the West for that finale play off birth. This way we avoid a cross over. But if it happens there's a strong possibility that if we get to the finale it could be a Edmonton/Calgary match up. The Oilers are playing at 1pm this afternoon in Winnipeg. I'll be at work or on my way home for most of this one. My "wing man" sits beside me. She's been with the organization for a lot of years and does some important work for the company. She's almost like the 2nd in command of the Super and she usually gets the games up for me on her phone, and I can access open city wifi (if this gets posted) and get the scores at Southgate and along my way home. The third period might be underway by the time I meet my wife at Clareview. Then I get a day off tomorrow. Anyway, that's all for now.

There was no shifts last Sunday due to Family day weekend

but Anne wanted me to cancel for today. Too back-to-back mornings are rather tough on me. All next week is 4-9:30pm. I'll need the hours. We have a serious bill we're trying to pay down. I didn't mind going into work Saturday morning though.
                          View image on Twitter
The above photo is from yesterday morning shortly before 9am waiting for my bus to Clareview station. Saturday morning drunks from across the street. Those panes of glass are very expensive. Its not a city bus shelter so most likely it'll be like that for a few more days. At this hour, the scene above would be covered in snow from the blizzard earlier this afternoon.

I got in about 7:30pm. Anne had a frozen entre`for me to heat up in the mic just before the Avs/Oilers game got under way. Anne called from her place of work just to touch base with me. I had a nap on the couch during the 2nd period. It was a good game despite the Oilers losing, again. That loss makes us tied in points with the Leafs for last place, but the Oilers are still the worst team in the league due to their win loss record. This (mercifully) doesn't give the Oilers a exclusive lottery win if the team finishes last. All the teams that don't make the playoffs have a chance to get the first round draft pick. Anyway, that's all for now.

The month of October is one of my

favorite months. In a way it parallels Spring like conditions. At least here in the Edmonton area. The conditions outside, now, look exactly like late March early April. Even down to the temperature and when the Sun sets. Only difference besides the name of the month, is Spring promises longer warmer days and weather. October promises shorter days ahead and colder weather approaching. The photo below was taken from my iPod Touch. Photo's on these hand held devices always seem to be slightly darker the image they capture. But you get the idea.

A bit of a recap over the past few days. The Oiler's lost 2 back to back games: Friday's and the one Sunday night. The Oiler's should have had that game won last night. We were really pouring it on threatening LA's fragile lead. Then they crossed checked one of our guys into the boards and it wasn't called. Then the big controversy: The King's goaltender grabbed the puck as it was crossing the the goal line but did so in such a way as to hide the puck in his glove. The goal was under "review" and it was ruled because the official couldn't see the puck go into the net, even though the goaltender's glove hand was behind the goal line, they ruled it a no goal. We got 4 more games to play with these guys. The first stars of the game should have been these guys:

I don't mind the Oiler's losing if they lost because of the way they played. That's on them. However during the last few minutes of the game, the Oiler's were better then the Kings but controversy decided the game. Either way, that's not good for the game.

Ok moving forward, my shift today is 1:30pm-9:30pm. Anne told me when she worked at where I work now, she'd take the #3 home because she got off work at 9pm. The #3 is faster to the downtown core and if I miss the #3 I'll take the #7. Both stop near Central station. Besides the #3 makes more sense as I can get my coffee at Starbucks on 101st and Jasper. If its still there. As long as the #3 says Jasper Place, I'm good to go. This week looks like its all going to be 1:30pm-9:30pm. I'll get home about 10:20pm to watch wrestling. Anyway, that's all for now.

Sitting here unable to get around

because the wife needs the bus pass to go to work. I've got this pent up anxiety over this typing test thing when I go in for training Tuesday. The wife is threatening to cut off the cable, power etc until I get a pay cheque. Money is tight and so far I haven't heard anything on my ei claim and even if I get one its going to be 2 weeks away.

Yesterday our Premier released the long awaited 2015 Alberta provincial budget. For decades Alberta relied on oil royalties since the 1950's. In 1982 Liberal Leader Pierre Elliot Trudeau and then prime minister, imposed the national energy program or nep. Alberta suffered the worst. I was working during the 1980's and temporary permanent in the early to mid 1990's. Our economy grounded to a halt in 1982. Alberta was in a recession from 1982-1996 when the price of oil eventually rose. The recession of the 1980's took billions of dollars out of our local economy. Alberta's economy is cyclic, boom and bust. In 2008 the price of oil went to about $32 barrel responding to the market money crunch. We experienced a mini recession. Oil prices per barrel rose in late 2009 is when we finally got out of that recession. What this budget is supposed to do is to set a 10 year plan to get our economy off the reliance of oil royalties. This budget will hit some people hard but for this household it wont affect us. Some of the highlights: A return to health care premiums for Albertan's making over $50,000 (not us) annually. Its called a health care levy. A sin tax on tobacco and alcohol. I have about 1 beer a month, if that and I'm not a smoker. No Alberta sales tax. The Alberta Government under all Albertan's is also expecting to spend almost $30 Billion over the next 5 years on infrastructure projects etc. its a pretty good budget. More about Alberta's 2015 budget here.

Over the last few months the thought of not using a computer to make/process my music has held a lot of appeal for me. Not that there isn't anything wrong with using the computer to make music. Most EDM/techno is made this way. Its just that my laptop memory where most of my vst's and programs live is at 80% full to capacity, and has a lot of adware on it rendering the laptop all but useless for accessing the Internet. When I get back to work and once we're caught up with our bills,  I'm looking at getting an affordable synth. I'm looking at either the Yamaha MX49, or the Roland Juno Di. I like the guitar sounds on the Di. I haven't heard many of the guitar sounds on the Yamaha MX yet. The MX is cheaper and newer. I can use the iPad and for $18 I can buy Yamaha's Mobile studio sequencer. That's all I need.

So tonight I'm watching the Oiler's entertain Dallas and this weekend trying to fend off the wolves and attempting to keep our marriage from falling apart. Anyway, that's all for now.

My toothache felt a lot better as I headed

into work yesterday. Even the weather wasn't to bad either. February can usually be about -25 this time of year. As far as I know we haven't had a -20 day this month at all.

I felt a lot better heading into work. I bought a coffee at Subway and read a bit of the paper before we began training.

Training for the new project went just fine but the project isn't going to last as long as I thought. I thought we were going to get 6 months but it could be done by the end of May. I just hope I have enough for my lodge dues. That's all I want for now. We were done by 6pm and I was home at 7pm to watch the Wild/Oiler game, more on that later.

As soon as projects dry up and if it makes sense I'm going on unemployment. Mainly to take a 16 week customer service course in June. As long as it covers the basics, and it makes sense. I like my job but its project based and barely covers the bills. if I get on the course and when its done I'll continue on with unemployment to its end to help subsidize my drop in hours. A ei claim might go for 9 months (depends on how many hours I have) A ei claim for 9 months would last me from June of this year until about the end of February next year. I'd be 7 months away from a year from when I can apply for pension.

I watched the Wild/Oiler game. 4-0 Wild. The Oilers played like crap last night but they get to play hosting Anaheim at 5pm later today. Ill be tuning in to watch a bit. Anyway, that's all for now.

Poor Oilers cant win a game worth trying

but neither did the Leafs until the Oiler's showed up last night. I don't know what's wrong with this team. We got 3 first round draft picks. I think before the trade deadline, the Oiler's are going to move 2 of those first round players. One to Winnipeg and the other Toronto. Right now the Oiler's are playing junior hockey.

By this time next weekend (Family day) we should have much warmer weather. Looking at the calendar another 5 more Sunday's and its Daylight savings time.

Lately my right knee and calf area have been causing me some discomfort. Its like I'm walking with a limp. Could be just the weather. Maybe its gout for all I know but most likely its arthritis more then anything.

After not being able to sleep during the past 24 hours, I'm about ready for bed after a bit of reading and a bit of Coast. I have a full day today (I hope) They let us out at 5pm instead of 6 last night. So I'm out at 11am into the office for noon-8pm. Then I get Monday off. Anyway, that's all for now.

Wednesday I left out of here at 3pm

thinking I'm pushing the clock here because I missed that 1st bus to Clareview station. Even after a wait for my bus to Clareview and a wait on the train (I forgot my iTouch player/clock) I had only a vague idea what my time was looking at. A wait for the bus on 129th there and it's 1 stop away but it's a long walk. I got into the office at 3:35pm. I don't really need to leave out of here until about 315pm.

This weekend the plan is Friday morning run over to the tm job and get my cheque and then do my banking, get my book go to the employment agency put my name in for that course in October. I'd like to work Friday night but there's apparently no crew working. So it's home to get ready for Saturday's BBQ our lodge is putting on for its members. It's been an annual tradition the JW does. I'm meeting my pick up ride across the street from  McKernan /Belgravia for 1:30pm. It's going to be a fun afternoon. Sunday the City is shutting the lrt from Clareview to Corona again. Sunday the tm shift starts 2-6. So I've got to take a ETS replacement LRT bus from Clareview to Belvedere and at 6pm take a replacement bus from Belvedere to Rexall and the #8 where I need to go for my 7pm meeting. That's my weekend.

I'm still riding on the Edmonton Oil Kings high of them winning the Memorial cup. There are 60 teams in the Canadian Hockey League who's ultimate goal is to win the Memorial cup. In the WHL there are 17 Canadian teams and 5 American teams. Kamloops Blazers won the Memorial cup 6 times since the WHL was founded in 1966. While I'm not a huge fan of minor hockey it's pretty decent hockey and I've been to a Oil Kings game. The Alberta Junior Hockey League has decent hockey as well and I always like to follow how the Sherwood park Crusaders are doing. Yesterday there was a parade for the Oil Kings and a celebration at Churchill square park. Now if only some of what the oil Kings did last Sunday rubs off on the Oiler's.

This is going to be an interesting BBQ to say the least but it's going to be very pricey. Not for the members because it's free for members Anyway, that's all for now.

The new Edmonton downtown

arena will be called Rogers Place. City council still has to approve the overall budget of $600 million if it goes over that then it has to go back to City council but even if it goes over budget it's the contractor that has to pick up the tab for the over runs. If all goes well, then shovels could be in the ground by March 2014.

Yesterday on the news they were making fun of a proposal by Amazon to drop small packages to customers by helicopter drones. The idea is to get small packages in the customer's hands within 48 hours or something like that. I can just imagine the skies being littered by these drones and Anne and I trying to leave our apartment having these things swarming like misquotes all over the front door, lol.

I mentioned to my boss that I have another part time job and he said he was surprised it took me so long. So that's a relief. I start my new job today as I'm off at 8:30pm tonight. I'm working at my first job Sunday (If they have a Sunday shift) Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. My 2nd job, Thursday, Friday Saturday. Of course my first Thursday of the month is out because of Lodge commitments. Both jobs unfortunately are not steady full time jobs. My 2nd job I'm off in the month of February, June, July, August. August at my 1st job is usually slow and my 2nd job isn't activated until September. My first job pays me less then my 2nd job by an extra $4/hour. So tonight I'm starting at my 2nd job, tomorrow is Lodge night and Friday my 1st job is having their annual "holiday party." I'm working Saturday morning at my 2nd job. Sunday I'm at my first job from 10-6pm. Then I'm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday at my first job. Then Thursday, Friday Saturday at my 2nd job. So from Saturday December 7th until Saturday December 14th but it's only 4 hours. Sounds confusing? No kidding.

I was at my bank before my shift yesterday afternoon trying to get a DBD form for my 2nd job and then they asked me my address. What? Then they asked me my date of birth. I began to get suspicious. Then at work I began to realize what's going on. When I opened my account I didn't use my original mailing address as I didn't want any mail from a bank getting to my residence because I wanted this account private account so I could save some money. So this means I need to leave out of here about 2:30pm today to explain whats going on. The bank is under new management and I didn't recognize anyone behind the teller there that would know me. Anyway, that's about all for now.

We're getting a little bit of rain out there last night and this morning

which is nice.

I had a slow start to the shift and didn't get my first complete until about 7:30pm but rallied at the end. I hurried out the of the building and ran for the train. Good thing I did otherwise I would have missed the train but I think I should not  have ran because I ended up walking home. If I caught the 10:20pm train i might have a Northgate bus there but I barely caught the train but had to walk from Clareview to the set of lights here anyway.

At work I was tracking the Jet's/Oiler home opener and and when I left the Oiler's in the 3rd had a commanding 5-2 lead. I thought the win was in the bag. When I got home checking the sports highlights, the outcome ended up 5-4 Jets. I'm still standing by my original prediction earlier.

With Washington shut down over "Obama care" it's going to have some devastating effects the longer it lasts. If it drags on longer say a couple of months, Canada could lose about $700 million/week. This is serious stuff. Both sides wont budge but something's got to give.

Yesterday was actually decent day. First of all I got a chair filled in my lodge, which I'm happy about. I need 2 more including a replacement. Elections are Thursday and it looks like I'm going to have my year. The other bit of good news is my CPP has been approved. It's enough to pay for my cable bill and my insulin. I should get my first cheque in December. Some good news for a change.

So because of this good news Saturday before work I'm going to get my Horus Rising audio book. Its a 5 CD set and it's going to give my Audry's book club points a shot in the arm. Anyway, that's all for now.

We're getting some badly needed

by so fast don’t they?

I think every summer weekend, should be a long weekend. I took this video of a rain cell that emptied out above our building but its not ready yet.

On the National news they were talking about Facebook and a lot of kids now think Facebook is not cool anymore because their parents are on it. A pole was taken that said more then 50% of Facebook users were boomers like myself. Face book is now 10 years old.

This is pretty cool. Its early technology but it goes to show what can happen when you don’t give up on something. In this case, painting through the power of thought enabled by scientists. A computer that enables users to paint through the power of thought has been developed by scientists. I'll post a link to this later....

Doctor Who’s season finally was pretty good. I don‘t think this John Hurt fellow is going to replace Matt Smith as the new Doctor. It’s going to add another dimension to an already fun but complex show.

My wife is meeting her sister this evening so I’m fending for my self, which is ok and it’s Monday night Raw. Speaking of which I watched the a JBL/Cole show on YouTube and I subscribed.

This is going to be a full work week. Tomorrow I’m watching Raw and I think there’s the Chicago/Wings game and of course Monday night Raw. Otherwise, I’ve got  nothing going on this week, leading up to Friday the last day of May. Wow, hard to believe. Anyway, that’s all for now.

I had a good day yesterday

despite this crappy weather.

Finally, it took a game away from the Rex but the Oiler's won in Denver 4-1 Oiler's. Even though the Oiler's are out of the playoffs they can still play for conference position. If they can finish 9th and a point away from a playoff spot,I'd say that was a good but short season. Hall and Eberle could get 20 goals.

Not being all that well,I booked off for the rest of the afternoon and headed for home. Anne had something similar to what I got and after she called in she stayed home with me this evening.

I was going to go to Commercial but I'm still not well and I was out the other night besides, I really want to go to their 100th celebration. That's the big one.

It looks like state officials and the FBI caught the younger brother of the 2 brothers responsible for Monday's Bombings of the Boston marathon. But the I think it was the mother of the brothers that said, they had no motive. But their behavoir up to this point doesn't exactly bode well to support that notion.

In doing some BC transit research history this morning I came across a huge LRT project that's going on called the Evergreen line which when completed in 2016 will connect to the existing Millennium line. It's all automated but it's on the outskirts of Coquitlam. It doesn't pass through the heart of Coquitlam By that I'm referring to Blue Mountain Road/Austin/Como Lake road. Most of the Evergreen line is serviced by bus anyway If they had this as a kid in the 1960's I might not even know it existed as we never got out to downtown New Westminster that much except maybe twice when they had a bicycle museum there and when dad paid a visit to the union hall now known as local UFCW 1518. I have a fragment memory in the car waiting on a sunny day as dad gave me a bag of bbq chips. I recognized the back end of the building from Google maps. When that memory came to me I used to think that there was a bar there and there might have been one on that location in those days. I thought dad was going in to have a drink but in all reality if that had been a union hall at that time, dad might have been going there to check up on a job. I have no idea how old I was. So those were about the only 2 times I can remember ever being in downtown New Westminster as a child. At the corner of Como lake/Clarke road there was Super Value food chain. Similar to Safeway. Mom used to get groceries there and if this Evergreen line was there in 1964 I would have been slightly aware of it. I'm sure this new line will help some people but for the majority of folks in Coquitlam this doesn't help much because you still need a bus to get from central Coquitlam to the Millennium line. In looking at this now, it reminds me of a make work project and it's going to be an eye soar in some places. If the train was at grade fine but it's on a pillar type system similar to what Calgary has to their west end. Anyway, that's all for now.

Monday, February 11, 2013

Lots going on this week.

Monday night Raw, Tuesday Oiler game, Wednesday Lodge, Thursday valentines day, Friday the beginning of a long weekend.

I’ve been having a bit of a problem with my right heal. It seems to dry up with crackling skin. We think it’s diabetes so I’m putting some Vaseline on it and covering it up with a sock. Hopefully that will help out.

My favorite board game Advance Squad leader seems to have a active presence on YouTube. Multi Man Publications most recent ASL offering has been one of their Historical modules called “Festung Budapest.” There is an un-boxing of this game and it’s a huge game. The only thing I don’t like about it is that MMP went and changed the SS counters from their traditional white on black to like every other counter in the German OOB. I don’t know why they did this and some of the comments about the SS counters not being their traditional colors put some players off. Even 3rd party ASL treatments keep their SS counters in their traditional color. The other thing about the game it’s like a $130 price tag. I’m thinking about buying this because it might have a limited print one.

Finally the Oiler’s won on the road. They are still in 9th place but I think this is where they will be all season. Roughly between 10 and 9th. Dubnyk was in net and he stole the show. Hall was called for goal tender interface and with his speed propelled him up onto the net and over. Made me laugh.

I’ve got a full day ahead today as I’m up at 7am and out the door at 8am. I should be home about 5:45pm. Next week I’ll be able to pencil in my own hours. 34 hours is full time. I’m used to 37.5 at my last job but that was including Saturdays. I’m glad I don’t have to do them anymore. Anyway, that’s about all for now.

I've got an easy day

today. I'[m home with Anne, I'm sleeping in late (noon) and it's going to be a reading type of a day. I'm going to do my CPP stuff Thursday.

I haven't heard anything yet from an old ASL friend of mine. We were supposed to get together but he hasn't given me his phone number or anything like that to set up a time and place. I'm hoping to get back into gaming ASL again. Saturday non Lodge days work for me but I miss playing this board game. My friend Andrew is a tough ASL opponent. No doubt he's been playing  I can't game at my place because he's allergic to cats. I see us gaming at his place from 2pm-9pm where I can get home by 10:30ish. Anne's got Face Time now so we can do "video conferencing." Except when I'm in Lodge of course.

I'm still considering heading out to Saskatchewan #92 on Thursday. It's a Canadian Rite Lodge. Normally when I go to Lodge other then my own it's been Commercial, because it's a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon have a beer before or after lodge in the lounge. We don't usually open our festive board at our lodge until after our meeting. I like the idea of having a bit of libation before Lodge. Get a little buzz going before the meeting. Only problem with #92, is I'm not known there so there's nobody that can vouch for me.

The NHL is back, maybe. The deal needs to be ratified and then voted upon. It's hoped that when that happens (Wednesday) the copper and blue might (fingers crossed) be playing a 48 game season on the 19th of this month. There are way too many fans that are over reacting about this last lockout. Most of the players would rather be on the ice playing hockey rather then sitting it out in the board room or whatever. I for one am glad they're back. I hope.

Tonight on Coast the topic is about Money Laundering/ Natural Remedies, uggh. Anyway, that's about all from me for today.

If BL emails

me a response in the morning before I leave out of here and says they would accept a Visa gift card as a method of payment, then I’ll head over to the Baker Centre and get a Canada Post Visa gift card and on my 4:30pm (if I get a response during the day and before break, I’ll get the gift card on my break or my 4:30pm and get the short story of the day.) At $1.50 a story, that’s pretty good but what kind of quality am I going to get with a daily story? The most important thing though is to get set up with BL.

Also I was able to contact Mike and he’s doing the festive board, I just have to make sure that there’s enough for mix napkins etc. We’re short of mix and napkins I need to call Neil or Frank as well. I’m just doing the transition stuff until Frank takes over and I received my Lodge newsletter it being my last Newsletter as JW, thank God.

On the rare occasion I like to reveal some of my stats for this blog from the past week, Sunday seems to be my best day for some reason:

I don’t know what to make of this but on Coast tonight First Hour: Aerospace engineer Dr. Robert Zubrin talks about NASA's announcement to send a new rover to Mars in 2020, and other space-related topics. What another Rover? WTF?

The Players met with some of the NHL Owners today but without the NHL and NHLPA the good news is they were talking for several hours whether this produces results to end the lockout is anyone’s guess so we’ll just wait and see.

I had a decent day today doing ret all day but got into a bit of trouble/warning not to take any iPad Facebook photos in the office. Oops, my bad. Anyway, that's about all for now.

This date is important

but also for me it marks 8 months ago this week we lost Sparky. Hard to believe we had him a year ago, healthy and alive. I miss him a lot.

This week marks the 40th year of the famous 1972 Canada/Russia hockey series. I wasn't too much into it but I recall dad was into it when he was home, setting everything up for mom and the other kids to leave for Edmonton a year later. I was 19 in 1972 and that was the year I was working at Canadian Pacific Railway in Port Coquitlam with a beard and as I was walking home on a rainy afternoon, an unmarked car pulled me over and asked if I would participate in a Police line up. I also recall a bachelor party event that year from some church colleagues and how I was getting tired and board and how I left the event finding my way along the Loughheed Highway heading East hitch hiking. I don't think I was missed at all. How the years go by.

It's Lodge night this evening. Anne's going to use her Pizza discount and since it's the duty of every JW chair to take care of the festive board for after the lodge, I'm asking Neil to pick me up a doz assorted donuts and 3 Pizzas along the way like we did in June. A doz donuts should be enough for desert. Next Saturday I'm at Commercial Lodge from about 1-5pm and then that Sunday at Highlands for our Board of General Purposes meeting September 16th from 6-8pm to get all the Lodge chairs for the upcoming year. I suspect though that tonight will be an in and out kind of an evening. I should be home by 10pm. Anyway, that's all for now.
