Better late then never but it looks like I could

be back to work next week. I'm not going to do any Saturday shifts and no more past 9:00pm. Actually I'd really like to come in and work from 4-8 5 days/week to be honest. It gives me 40 hours on a pay cheque.

Next weekend on "Space" is the first episode of the new Star Trek Discovery series. Has it really been 12 years since the last TV Trek? Discovery will be a streaming service but we already have "Space" TV so we get to watch it anyway without a 3rd party subscription or set up. The new show will begin with a 2 hour trailer and new episodes will rollout every Sunday. Chapter 1 and then Chapter 2. My anticipation level for Discovery is building daily. I'm not sure if Discovery will be an hour or half an hour show. At about $8 million an episode I doubt Discovery will be half an hour. If this streaming service is successful and done right, is Star Wars not far behind? And who's to say Star Wars and Star trek streaming will end just there? Game of thrones? America's got talent, streaming live! Monday night Raw, streaming. Streaming Trailer park boys? Umm, no thanks.

In light of the recent Opioid crisis in BC and elsewhere there is a lot of concern over Justin Trudeau's push to legalize marijuana next summer. Many jurisdictions are still trying to figure out the legal ramifications. Some questions remain: What should the legal age be? Eighteen or 21? I'm not really sure. Who should collect taxes? Personally I feel this should be a Provincial thing but taxes from the sale of pot will also help the Province as well. What about pot under the influence? It should be treated like drinking and driving. My opinion is that legalizing pot is little more then a tax grab adding about $5B/year to Government coffers. At the same time by legalizing pot will take a lot of stress off the legal system. A 2 year pot charge costs the justice system ~$115,000/year in jail expenses. Its going to be interesting how this will turn out between now and July 1st.

A lot of cities in North America are making bids to have Amazon have their HQ in cities in both the US and Canada.
We're making our bid here in Edmonton. Why Edmonton? First of all we've given tax breaks before. Dell computers. Then we have the infrastructure. We're building high rises. Cranes are up all over town. We're close to the oil patch, we have Connor McDavid as an Edmonton Oiler, we host big concerts here. Not even Calgary can boast that. We're centrally located. Its a great place to live. Did I mention we have Connor McDavid? Anyway, I got to go. That's all for now.
